Teenage Girl loses Two necklaces charms in CDA lake idaho..Was Found !!!

On August 3 Amber, her mom Jodi , their two dogs and friend Michael all went down to Higgins point on CDA lake. Amber was enjoying a swim by herself but wanted some company so she invited the dogs to join her. Then without any warning Amber’s lab panicked in the water right next to her. The thrashing legs of Amber’s dog scratched her back and broke the chain necklace that was around her neck. However no one saw this happen and no one saw that two of the four pendents had fallen off the chain. As amber returned to shore with a throbbing back and no idea of the real pain to come, she exited the water and discovered her broken necklace. A whole week went by for Amber, with tears and past memories of her lost pendant’s. Amber’s mom Jodi knew of the anguish her daughter felt and took to Craigslist to seek help. I being an active Ring finders member, search the lost and found when ever I can. On Sunday morning I saw Jodi’s post about the lost pendant’s. But unlike most posts with the writer admitting they have no idea of the location of said item, Jodi was able to describe the exact moment with a fixed rock formation marking where the pendants were lost. I saw all of this and knew Jodi and Amber needed my help. So with a few emails and phone calls I headed out to Higgins point. Arriving at Higgins point I called Jodi and soon found the rock formation and the scene of the incident. Michael, Jodi’s friend showed up as I was about to enter the water and gave me some tips on where he thought the pendants fell off. I didn’t know it until after Michael had left, that he had sat down and was pointing right in line with the pendants. I had walked over the pendants at least twice and swung over them with my detector. However I did not get a signal. It was when I put my Fisher CZ-21 in all metal mode that I got a signal and recovered both pendants. The silvered colored phantom of the Oprah mask pendant was found first and then the most treasured Fifteen Gold pendant. I returned the pendant’s to Jodi at their house but couldn’t stay to see Amber’s reaction, Although Jodi sent me a quick video of Amber opening the original box to find her pendants. Amber was overwhelmed and elated that her lost pendents had come back to her .

Ely Lake, Allegan, Michigan nets 2 rings 2 happy people

My Ring Finder partner, Dave Boyer, got an email from Charles S. earlier today but didn’t hear from him right away so I looked up his name on Facebook and messaged him to give me a call ASAP. A few minutes later I got a call from Charles explaining how he lost his ring while playing with his kids in the lake. I got the directions to the lake, called Dave and we were on our way. When we got to the lake we met Charles, his wife Savanna and their daughter Addison. When we started the search Savanna told us Addison lost her ring too in shallow water. My first step I recovered Savanna’s ring but didn’t say anything yet. I was hoping to do a bonus return but after 2 hours of hunting I showed Savanna the ring and said, “is this your ring?” She happily said “yes”. We told Charles he didn’t have to wait around and if we find the ring we would contact them. They lived about an hour away and had been camping at the lake.

After making several grid passes in the swimming area I decided to go deep up to my shoulders Dave joined me in the area and got a good signal and came up with a new penny. We moved about 2 feet away and Dave got a good signal again but couldn’t scoop it so I went in with my big Bertha scoop and there it was at the bottom of the scoop. We gave Charles a call and he was beside himself that we found his ring. We met at McDonald’s and exchanged hand shakes, hugs and pictures. That was the nicest tungsten ring I have ever seen it had a gold band around it set with diamonds. Thank you Charles for the call and having faith in us.

Lost Ring – Metal Detector – Durham

The email starts off like this:  “My wife and I have been married for two years, and she’s been after me to resize my wedding band for almost that whole time. I’d really like to make it to three years…” You can’t let an opener like that go by.

I contacted the man and asked him to describe the situation — what was he doing when he lost it, where was he, etc. Turns out he was out weeding in his yard and midway through, noticed that his wedding band was gone. He was pulling up weeds and placing them in a pile, which he then put into a trash can.

After he realized the ring was gone, he searched all the likely places and even borrowed a cheap-o metal detector to try and find the lost ring, but no luck. I came over on a Sunday morning and rechecked the areas he had searched. We started with the weeded areas, checked the weed pile, and lastly checked the trashcan. I found the ring under the “weed debris” that had been in the can. Husband and wife are both happy and the third year looks solid!

Elusive platinum band (well sort of elusive) recovered from a private west Yarmouth beach

jay and his family had rented a vacation home that was tucked away in a gated private community. Their vacation seemed to have been going well until jay removed his platinum wedding band and put it in the small beach bag that they had brought for the essentials of a day at the beach, someone had apparently gone looking for something in the bag and had dumped the contents in the sand along with jays ring. After the first search jay had done with his family which led to nothing more than stress he contacted Eleanor hube from J&E metal detectors to rent a detector to hopefully find the missing ring. 4 plus hours of detecting later and the ring was still hidden in  the dry sand, upon returning the detector Eleanor offered to search for the ring today as we had some nasty storms coming through on Saturday. Well I gave her a call to see if she had any luck and she asked if I would go find it because she was in a good amount of pain, I said I would and she gave me a map and jays number.

i got down to seagull beach around 5pm to avoid the parking fee and started the 1/2-3/4 mile hike to get down to the private little beach where the ring had gone missing a few days before. I met some nice people who had kind of expected someone with a detector to show up (they did ask a few questions to prove I was looking for his ring and that I was in touch with him) after that I began the painstaking 20 second search which yielded a solid 12.05 on my ctx 3030, one scoop in I saw the ring sticking out of the sand and I knew  the ring was safe.

The people I met on the beach asked me to stop by if I found it, I did and they were nice enough to give me a ride back to my vehicle so I didn’t have to walk.

Jays ring will be mailed to him tomorrow and the story of the elusive platinum band can have a happy ending 

 

Update the ring arrived around 10am at jays house and I think he’s very happy

Lost keys – Wake Forest – Found!

I usually get contacted when someone loses a ring or other precious piece of jewelry. This time it was something different, but every bit as precious to the owner — his keys.

This fellow had lost his keys while gardening.I’m sure that’s happened before, but as the ad says “But wait! There’s more!” He explained that because it was extremely hot, he’d gone out into his garden at night, wearing pajama bottoms (I know, bordering on TMI), which don’t have pockets. Because of the “no pockets”thing, he’d put his keys in his shirt pocket. The keys fell out of his shirt pocket, and with his headphones on, he didn’t hear them hit the ground. House key, car key, truck key, work keys, padlock keys, etc. — this guy was in a serious fix.

He showed me where he had been in his garden and it took me about 30 minutes to find them — under some squash leaves. This guy was all kinds of happy!

Young Girl’s Ring Lost At Emerald Isle Beach Found

Heather sent me a text message that her daughter had lost her ring at the beach the previous evening.  Shortly after receiving her text, I headed to the beach to begin the search.  One of Heather’s friends was at the location with the young lady and showed me the area to begin the search.  Within minutes, and after Heather arrived, I was able to find the ring.  Heather’s friend could believe I found it!

Unique Heavy Gold/Silver Ring Lost in Landscaping at Malibu. CA. .. Recovered

Talya and her friends were staying at a hotel in Malibu,  CA. As she walked down a walkway she raised her hands in the air to point out something to her friends. That’s when her large gold with silver ring flew off her finger into thick landscape plants with thick ground cover. Basically all of her friends witnessed the incident.

I was called at 6pm by Talya’s friend asking what I would charge to meet them the next morning. I told them I could be there before dark to do the search this evening. We agreed that she could be there long enough for her to show me the search area as she and her friends had dinner reservations across the street.

Traffic was not a problem which can be unpredictable on Los Angeles freeways. Talya had saved me a parking place and had permission from management for me to search the planters. She told me that this ring was a birthday gift from her mother. It was a thick ring of 24k gold overlaid on a silver band. It was purchased many years ago in Israel and very sentimental to her.

I used a detector with a small search coil to get into the small spaces under the plants. Then I followed up by using my hand held pinpointer detector to get into places that the other detector could not reach. It was dark and I was running out of places to look. I had actually done three passes on most the heavily planted garden area crawling on my hands and knees.

As a last resort I went down to the street sidewalk where I could reach into the thick undergrowth using the pinpointer. A great signal but with the pinpointer it’s difficult to tell the difference between iron, tin foil and precious metals. I spread the plants apart to see the awesome gold ring just out of sight waiting to be found.

When you go on these kind of calls you just don’t know what kind of obstacles you’re going to have. These plants were very difficult to maneuver through. It took nearly two hours to find the ring.

Called Talya with the good news. She came running across the street with the biggest smile you have ever seen. Then gave me a huge hug and telling how grateful she was to have this special ring saved from being lost forever. It was another one of those searches that I had my doubts about after not finding it after almost two hours. Glad I gave it the extra few minutes.

Lost Ring Dauphin Island – FOUND!!!

Nick and his family were visiting from Oklahoma and had a house on the water in Dauphin Island.  When Nick called I was worried because I was going to be out of town on business for several days but after getting some more information I told him that I thought I could still find it for him when I got back on the weekend.  Nick explained to me that he was playing in the Gulf with his nephew in about 3 feet of water when he took off his ring and showed it to his nephew and joked that he had found “treasure”.  Well he quickly stopped joking when his nephew made a grab for it and it dropped out of his hands and into the water.  Nick and his family looked for hours but weren’t able to recover it.  When I finally got there, they had an over under going on how long it would take me to find it, and if I could find it at all.  Nick had great directions and after some machine adjustments to account for a ton of old nails from an old pier, I heard that awesome Gold sound and got it on the first scoop.  Needless to say, Nick and his family were thrilled and impressed.  This is definitely the most impressive men’s band that I have recovered.  Thank you Nick for giving me the chance to find it for you.

Surfing Haigis Beach Cape Cod, Lost Ring, Exhilarating Search, Book of Smiles

August 2, 2018 Justin Mello lost his wedding band while body surfing the incoming tide. By the time I was contacted it was just too late in the evening to start a search in a rough surf. The next morning Jim and I showed up at 7am and started to search a very angry sea bed. Three foot waves were a threat to our search. We were lucky the waves were calming as the tide was going out. However, our safety was our first objective, finding the ring the second. One set of waves came in and Jim disappeared, playing submarine, not by his choice. When he surfaced he was all in tack save for a bit of seaweed on top of his wet hat. Justin arrived about 8am and told Jim and myself we were in the correct area, but a bit too far out. Heck that was were the big waves were and we were (at least I was) having fun riding them. The tide had gone out for more than an hour, exposing more dry wet sand. We started to search the area that we could not the hour before because of the rough surf. Now in ankle deep water a strong signal said “Dig Me!” and I did. In my scoop was Justin’s white gold wedding band. The exhilarating hunt was over, time for coffee after pictures and a few detecting stories.

Heirloom Lost, Found and Returned on Chapoquoit Beach, MA

July 31, 2018 Emily took a late evening dip in Buzzard’s Bay not knowing King Neptune would be ripping her heirloom engagement ring from her finger. The next day Cindy (her mother), Kevin (her fiance’) and a friend, Isabel had helped in looking for the ring to no avail. At 5:05 I pulled into the parking lot. After introductions and the story of the loss I made it into the water at 5:20. On the third pass in the delineated area and my first target, the ring was found. Many onlookers were amazed at how easily I had made the find. It was not me, it was Emily as she knew exactly were she lost the ring. It was within 8 feet of where she had shown me how she had lost the ring. Kevin showed up about 10 minutes late to see the recovery. But he was in time to enjoy the thrill of Emily having the family heirloom back on her hand, soon to be taken in marriage. Well wishes to a terrific couple.
