I received a text from Danny last night about his white gold wedding band that he lost while on the beach in Ocean City, NJ.
He wasn’t sure if was lost in the sand or ocean, so I started detecting at the approximate location where he was sitting.
Approximately 20 minutes into the search, the ring was found! Danny was thrilled to have his wedding band back on his finger!
This ring find began Thursday when I got an email from Makenna at Ko Olina Operations. Her email asked if I could reach out to a Aulani guest named Joseph from San Dimas, California who just lost his Platinum Wedding Band in five feet of water while floating. I called the number she left me and Joseph gave me more details to the search area and he was sure it was in five feet of water near to the paddle board buoys. Five feet depth is difficult to detect walking so I told Joseph I would hunt Friday morning at low tide in scuba gear with my Excalibur. The lagoon was calm when I started the scuba grid search and after about an hour and a fully expanded grid I didn’t find the ring. When I surfaced and was standing in chest deep water a young lady in the water asked if I was looking for “The Ring”? I said “Yes” but I’ve searched the entire area with no luck. Then she says the guy Joe that lost the ring yesterday was only in waist deep water. She was sure of it as they were helping them look for the ring. Okay, I’ll go get my Nox and hunt the shallow waters. Sure enough on the second leg of my grid search in waist deep water I got a booming “13” on the Nox and in one scoop there was Joe’s Platinum Band in my scoop. The young lady was gone so I wasn’t able to thank her but I immediately called Joe to tell him the good news. Joe had already changed hotels to Waikiki so as you can see he just swung by my house this afternoon with his lovely wife and I returned his ring. Aloha to Joe!

Samantha along with her husband, daughter and two dogs were visiting Honeymoon Island State Park from the Gainesville area about three hours away where they had recently moved from New Hampshire. In the process of throwing a rock in the water for her dogs to chase after, both Samantha’s engagement ring and wedding band flew off of her finger into the water. Fortunately she was able to recover the engagement ring just a few feet ahead at the edge of the water but the white gold with diamonds band flew further out into almost knee deep water. After a frantic search in near dark conditions with the park ready to close, Samantha and her family could not find the band. Another person on the beach at the time suggested to Samantha to reach out to me and after finding me through the Ring Finders page she messaged me on the way home that night. She provided enough information about the location and tide time of loss that I was able to begin the search the next morning. I sent Samantha photos of the beach area and she marked them up to help better define the location of loss so I began grid searching the water. I searched for a few hours in the morning and several in the afternoon until a storm ran me off but I found only a couple of pairs of sunglasses, a toy plane, fishing weights, several coins and some beach trash. Even though I knew I was looking for white gold, I dig every target that is just several inches deep. I messaged Samantha and told her I would be back out searching the next morning with Jim, a fellow detectorist who I had met on the beach during a previous search and recovery. After a 45 minute search the next morning with me on one end of the search area and Jim on the other, I hit a target that gave me a promising 5-6 on the VDI of my Equinox 600 in about knee deep water and after a couple of scoops I had recovered Samantha’s wedding band! I messaged Samantha with several photos and told her that her prayers had been answered. Samantha and her family made it back to Honeymoon Island a few days later and I met them there to return the wedding band. Samantha, thank you for contacting me and trusting me to recover your ring. … Dave and his family are from Minnesota visiting his sister Sarah. They were out here celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary. Three days before returning home they went to Crystal Cove State Beach, just up the coast from Laguna Beach, CA. There day was up set when Dave got knocked down by a wave, losing his custom made gold and diamond wedding ring that he had worn for 20 years.
I was contacted by a text from Sarah three days later at 6:30pm Sunday evening. We only communicated by text. She told me what had happened. The time that it happened and sent me a couple photos. I know that beach well, so I was confident that I could get to the general area without her driving 35 miles to point out the site.
I checked the tides when the loss occurred and the next best low tide. I would not be able to talk to Dave because he was on an airplane returning home. This was worth a gamble. I set my alarm for 4:30am so I could catch the next low tide. If I didn’t find the ring, I could talk to Dave getting more details from the person who lost the ring.
After about an hour and half, I got a faint signal in black wet sand. I very seldom discriminate while doing a ring search, so I dug the signal. YEP .. there in the pile of sand was a gold ring with diamonds. It had to be Dave’s ring..
Later that morning I contacted Sarah with the good new including a photo of the ring.. She was able to pick it up that afternoon. That night I received a FaceTime call from Dave , thanking me for finding his wedding ring of 20 years. We talked for 20 minutes. He told me the story of how he and his wife designed two matching rings for their wedding. I also got a call from his aunt telling me how grateful everyone was that the ring had been recovered.
It was another happy day for all concerned. I know that these rings lost in the surf are not always easy to find. This one may not have been detectable if we waited one more day. Sand moves every tide on these beaches and we have six foot tide changes.

I received a call out from a gentleman that lost his ring while planting the garden in the spring. Four months later we begin a search. From what he told me on the phone, I suggested we start with his gut feeling. It was a good call. We had 5000 sq. feet to search and we found it in the first one we searched. John found out about his friend’s lost ear ring being found by Ring-Finder Jim Wren in the North Myrtle Beach sand. It was that moment John discovered the great service The Ring Finders provide.
John had lost his gold wedding band two month prior. John was spending the day at a family member’s house playing with the kids all over the yard. This is when the ring fell off without John realizing it was gone. This ring had very special meaning as it belonged to his Grandfather. John messaged Crystal Coast Ring Finders and a day was planned to search the whole yard. Communication was very important to try to pinpoint the location of activity but the yard was full of various debris making this search difficult. Persistence paid off as the ring was found near a buried metallic item in the backyard. The sun was hot and the bugs were hungry. I was very happy the search was a success.

I received a text message on Wednesday morning (September 15, 2021) from Justin stating that he had lost his wedding band and wanted to know more about the metal detecting service we provide. I asked if Justin could please give me a call to discuss. I talked on the phone with Justin and his wife, Mandy, telling them how the process works. Justin is a youth Minister at the Willowbrook Baptist Church here in Huntsville, Alabama. The church holds a youth event a few times a year called the “Legends of the Pit.” There’s a grassy water retention area outside the back of the church. They hose that spot with a lot of water, then they have some muddy and messy games in the pit. It’s a really nice way for them to let loose, have some fun, and share the gospel with the community. Willowbrook and a few other churches have been holding this event for about 20 years now. I told Justin and Mandy that I’d be more than happy to help look for Justin’s ring.
I left for Willowbrook right after I got off from work that same day. I met with Justin, and he showed me exactly where he was standing in the pit area. There was one main spot where he was tossing props into the pit throughout one of the Legends of the Pit events this past Sunday. Justin was wet and muddy, so we thought that was the most likely spot his wedding band would be at. Justin also told me that his ring fits him a little loose and it’s fallen off before, but he’s always been able to find it. He normally takes the ring off for this event, but the day was hectic, and he forgot this time.
I started a north/south grid search by where Justin was standing at during the event. I worked my way over to the main pit area and then to the side where Mandy was sitting at watching the event. Justin told me that his ring is white gold, so I was only checking signals in the men’s gold range. I ended up finding 2 other rings, both marked 925 (sterling silver). I also found a sharp ended tent stake, which I was happy to remove from the pit to prevent any potential injuries.
I cleared the spot Justin was standing at and the main mud pit area. After about an hour into my search, I was working my grid by where Justin went to see Mandy at in the corner. I received a nice and shallow 10 on my Minelab Equinox 800. I bent down to check it with my Garrett Pro-Pointer AT. I could just barely see it with my eyes, but I could make out the shiny rim of a ring covered up by the grass (photo included below). It was a men’s 14K white gold wedding ring and based on the size and inscription on the inside (ECC 4:12), I knew this had to be Justin’s wedding band! I took some close-up photos of the ring and gave Justin a call. He didn’t answer, but a church member saw me coming up to the door and greeted me. She told me that Justin was inside with his youth group. Mostly everyone knew that Justin had lost his ring, so she asked if I had found it. I said yes and showed her. She was so excited! I told her that I was going to surprise Justin by doing a fake out with one of the 925 rings I had found during the search. This 925 marked ring was a simple silver band and was a very small size, so it definitely couldn’t be his ring.
The lady took me inside the church. Justin came out of the auditorium and met me in the hallway. I told him a found a ring and he got excited. I opened my hand with the 925 ring sitting there and asked if this was his wedding band. Justin still had a smile on his face, but he said no, unfortunately, it wasn’t his ring. I then pulled out his real wedding band and said, “hey, I also found this ring.” Wow!!! Such joy, happiness, and relief on his face and in his voice. He gave me a big thank you and hug. It was a great surprise reveal! His wife, Mandy had just walked out of the auditorium and Justin told her the good news. Mandy came over and gave me a big hug and thank you as well. I then learned that when Justin went to see Mandy during the Legends of the Pit event, he had reached in his pocket and pulled something out. Having a loose-fitting ring and wet hands definitely would’ve caused the wedding band to easily slip off.
Justin then took me in the auditorium and on stage in front of his youth group. He introduced me as Christina McCree, a member of The Ring Finders. Justin then held up his wedding band (symbolizing his marriage of 19 years and counting) and said that Christina found it! Loud applause and cheering erupted from the youth group. I said thank you all so much, but I give all glory to God. The cheering got louder. It was really such an amazing experience, and all in the house of the Lord. I’m truly blessed! Huge thank you to Willowbrook Baptist Church for allowing me to come out and conduct a search.

Was able to find this 3 kt. solitaire diamond pendant , in grass, that had been lost during an outdoor wedding. Great repatriation, for an heirloom that had been in their family for generations. Glad it worked out for them ! 
Jacob took his peddle boat out on the lake and his cellphone dropped in the water . The water was 4 to 5 feet deep, but he could not find the phone. He actually called in a dive team with scuba to search and they did not find the phone.
I arranged to search the next day. My first find was a Panasonic large case sized cellphone. After 2 more hours in the water I retrieved his IPhone 12 cell phone. Jacob was elated I had found his phone as it needed to be returned to his workplace as the phone contained sensitive information . Another successful search that proves the Ringfinders find more than just rings!

**** Kelly call me to inquire if I could help her find a small white gold earring in the sand at a small cove in Laguna Beach, CA. She was sure that it had to be near where she and her girl friends had spent the day.
She couldn’t meet me at the location until after her last class at school which would be the next day at 6pm. We discussed the location a little bit more and she sent me a photo . After recognizing the lifeguard tower in the back ground, I felt I would not need her to come to beach.
The next morning I was at the West St. Beach in South Laguna. Kelly had told me that the earring was a small hoop type white gold item. So I took two metal detectors down the long set of steps . Immediately I spotted the landmarks. Also, I could see finger drag marks in the sand.
Thought this would be a easy find. My first double grid over the zone with my multi frequency detector did not reveal the earring. I took a few minutes to set up my other detector which I could use at a higher frequency setting. “BOOM” .. a couple swings got me a decent signal. The white gold earring was found. It was open and possibly on edge ? Can’t really say why I missed it with my other detector, because it is also know for finding small nonferrous metals.
The most important fact is this very sentimental piece of jewelry was found and returned to Kelly later in the evening. A very happy grateful young lady.
