14K Gold Heirloom Ring lost at UC Campus…FOUND!!!!

It was late afternoon Saturday that I received a message regarding a lost 14K gold ring lost on the UC Berkeley campus.  At my earliest convenience I contacted Mike back to get the scoop.  He had already found a metal detector to purchase and was on his way back to the scene of the missing ring.  I was happy to give him a few pointers on metal detecting and bid him well wishes.  I told him to let me know if he wasn’t successful and I could head that direction either that evening, or early the next afternoon.

Later that evening I got another text regarding the missing ring.  A request was made for a search the following day.  To this end, I was glad to assist.

The following morning I had T-ball with two of my boys, but afterwards we picked up some snacks and headed to Berkeley for a treasure hunt, picnic, and some romping around the park.  We met Michael and he briefed me on the events leading up to the missing ring.

While taking a break from his Masters degree he met up at the park with friends for a meal.  Mike had removed the ring to clean his hands and rested the ring on his leg.  Moments later, he got up and the ring dropped away into the tall grass.  After having no success with friends locating the ring, another friend located THERINGFINDERS.COM website and hence my contact information.  His back up plan was to locate a metal detector for sale and come back to find the ring himself.  He was fast to find one and was back searching quickly.  He admitted that nerves and frustration set in quickly with all the nobs and noises the machine was making, as well as not quickly locating the ring.

I gave him 4 cones to define the perimeter of the search zone which was quiet small and we got started with the grid search. I can attest that the ground was quite noisy with targets.  I informed him that the ring would indeed be on the surface and ring in between 14 and 20 on my Equinox.

Less than 5 minutes into our search I got a beautiful signal that came up as an 18 VDI.  I told Michael we had his ring before we ever set eyes on it, an sure enough…”we made the recovery!”

Mike gave me a huge hug and was extremely relieved to have the ring back.  Thank you Mike, it was a great way to spend my afternoon and I wish you all the best in your future.

The boys and I stayed on and picnicked in the park and climbed some trees… It was a beautiful day!

Men’s 14K Wedding Ring Lost on Old Orchard Beach, Maine Found With A Metal Detector

I received a call from William on Monday morning, 9/11/23. William had lost his 14K wedding ring, the previous night, as he and his wife Sarah, enjoyed their last evening in Old Orchard Beach, Maine.  After leaving a local restaurant, William and Sarah returned to their oceanfront hotel for their last night in town and decided to sit on the beach and enjoy the fresh air and beautiful views, around 8:30pm to 9:00pm. When they decided to go back to their room, they were covered in sand, from where they were sitting. William brushed off the sand from both his and Sarah’s pants. Once they got back to their room, William noticed he was no longer wearing his wedding ring. He and Sarah immediately went back down to the beach to search for the ring, but with no luck. William then tore his hotel room apart, praying it was in the room, but still no luck. They both searched the beach again, the next morning,  9/11/23, still no success. William then called me after receiving a couple of very strong recommendations and referrals.
I told William that I would be right there to meet him, as I live less than 5 miles from their current location and being retired, I am able to just get up and leave. He and Sarah needed to start their 5 hour drive back to Sherbrooke, Quebec but would stay to show me the location. Once I arrived, about 10 minutes later, William showed me the area where he thought they were sitting but it now looked different because of the daylight and the tide was different. I searched the area where they thought they were sitting but absolutely nothing. He then said they 1st went to a bench and then moved down to the sand. Still nothing around the bench. At this point, I knew I would need to perform a grid of an area of about 75’ X 75’. I started near the bench and searched down to the high tide line, then back up to the sea grass, turn around and back to the high tide line, etc.. I was finding the usual trash of pull tabs and tent stakes but not much else. After about an hour and as I was at the top of the slope, heading to the high tide line. I received a very loud low tone on my Minelab CTX-3030. VDI screen was reading a very solid 12-24. I stuck my pinpointer into the dry sand and found my target. I caught a small glimpse of yellow and I just had to break out in a big smile. I pulled the ring out of the sand, turned around to show William and Sarah, who were now sitting in the sand up near the sea grass and said, “I got it”. As William saw the ring, he jumped up and said “No Way” and broke out in a smile from ear to ear. He then came over to where I was and we shared a nice big enthusiastic high five. The ride back to Sherbrooke, Quebec just became much more bearable. A Beautiful Day indeed

Lost and found Seiko dive watch in Halliburton Ontario

Received a text from Ian last week about him having lost his dive watch at the cottage. While swimming, he felt the watch come off his wrist and watched it sink in about 20+ feet of water. Unable to snorkel that deep to find his watch, he asked if I could come and dive and find it for him. Headed out to long lake, near Haliburton with my diving partner Larry. Within minutes, the watch was located and even a pair of sunglasses he had previously lost. Sadly, Ian could not be there during recovery. Another great day and recovery.

Falmouth Old Silver Beach Wallet Returns Home

While I was searching for a lost ring deep in the water two days ago, I got a very faint signal deep in the sand.  It was out about neck deep in the water, and it took me some time to actually get the item in my scoop. Richard Browne another ring finder was with me and said don’t give up now, we both laughed and Seven scoops later, and 20 inches deep I had it. At first glance I thought it was a cell phone by the shape of it, but it tuned out to be a wallet. I put it into my pouch, and continued to search for the ring. When I was done,  later at the truck I looked through it, and found the owners name on the drivers Lic. It also contained a dime and a few credit cards. I managed to find the owner Kyle on Facebook, I messaged him about him possibly losing something in the water. He got back to me but apprehensive at first, thinking it was a scam. Tuns out, we have a few mutual friends. We met up at the local store to share the story about how it was lost for over a year in the water. Kyle remembers losing it after a long hot day of work while swimming. I am so happy to get this wallet reunited with Kyle. Congratulations buddy please stay in touch.  Sincerely Leighton

A big thank you to Steve, who helped me help others while I was out of town, shooting a doc-u series on TheRingFinders directory and its members. I was gone for the whole summer over 4 1/2 months travelling across North America. Thank you Steve for being there and for helping  recover some smiles!

I got a call the other day from a friend I worked with in film who remembered my service and had lost his ring while gardening in the backyard. He went on to tell me that he had bagged up the yard trimmings, but didn’t put it out for pickup until I checked it, and that was a good thing because as you can imagine the chances are it was going to be in one of those bags, and it was in the second bag I checked… His gold wedding band of 39 years. These stories are always amazing and every story is different in its own way…Happy when I find them and sad when I don’t!

I received a text message in regards to a lost ring at third beach in Stanley Park. I was on my way to another church where I have to spend the night until the water level was down low enough where I could do the search correctly and that was until 5 AM, I called the people heard the story and told him I’d be there as soon as I found this ring in White rock in the morning as it made no sense to drive all the way back to Vancouver to search for the ring then come back to White rock is my vehicle cost over $200 to fill the tank, they said perfect.

I found a bringing white rock by 8 AM and I was on my way to Vancouver to search for their ring. When I got halfway there I got a text message saying someone was there with him Metal Detector helping them look for it, I was just waiting for them to text back and say it was found, but the person did not find it. I arrived, met the young man, and he showed me the area where his wife lost this beautiful, sentimental ring.

I started my search and after an hour and no luck I continued my grid as it was very trashy area. I knew I had to dig out most of everything and by doing so I found her beautiful ring!

 

The story of this ring was told the centre diamond, and two other diamonds were from each great grandmother, and also one grandmothers gold that went into making this beautiful engagement ring. The generations connected to. This is beautiful, and I was so happy to be able to continue the story for one day to be passed down to their son or daughter

Engagement Ring Pulled From Emerald Isle Beach Bag Found And Returned

Lilyanna was with her fiancé, family and friends on Emerald Isle beach.  She had placed her engagement ring in the beach bag before swimming.  During the stay, a phone was placed in the same pocket and shortly afterwards, removed from the bag.  It was then Lilyanna’s ring was pulled out also without anyone knowing it escaped.  After not finding the ring in the bag, panic set in and a few in the group started posting on social media and making phone calls to Crystal Coast Ring Finders.  I arrived as soon as possible and had a member make a circle in the sand where they all believed the ring would be found.  After the circle was cleared, I began my search and was not getting any report of metal in the sand.  This also intensified the worry of the lost ring.  As I almost completed the circle, I received a good tone on my Minelab Equinox 800.  I searched the sand with my pinpointer and raised the lost ring from the beach sand.

Lost wedding ring in the sand, Surf City NJ, LBI, recovered by Edward Trapper, NJ Ring Finder

  I was at a family party when I got a call from Sal. He was on the beach in Surf City when his wedding ring fell into the sand and disappeared. We agreed to meet ASAP as the party was coming to an end. I arrived on the beach and we headed out to the location. After clearing the area they had believed it was in I came up empty handed. We searched another spot to the north a bit and came up empty handed again. Another family member had arrived in the meantime and he was to the south pointing to a totally different location. I went over to speak with him and he was positive of the area they were in. Just a few swings later and the ring was in my scoop. Once again, it’s just a matter of finding the right area to search. Many times the first few spots are not the right ones. After the beach clears off its much harder to find the exact location so remember, mark the spot with google maps on your cell phone and call ASAP.

Wedding Ring Found for Owner, Old Silver Beach, Falmouth, MA

Labor Day ended on a depressing note for John, who lost his year-old wedding ring in chest-deep water a couple of hundred feet offshore.  I received a call from him in early evening, asking if I was ‘the ring finder’ and if I could search for his ring.  I of course said that I would, but it would have to be the next day as we were entertaining holiday guests.  We met at the beach near low tide the following day and I did a 2-hour search in the area where John felt that he’d lost the ring.  I called a halt as it was getting dark but I told John I’d be back the next day to expand the search area.  On reflection, he thought maybe he’d been somewhat farther south when the ring slipped from his finger, so I planned to work that area when I returned.  After about an hour of searching that area the next day, I got a sweet booming signal that cried out ‘RING’ and soon had John’s hefty wedding band in my scoop.  With a call to John, we agreed to meet at the beach the next morning, and I had the great pleasure of being able to give John his beautiful ring and share in the joy of its return.  Another great day for The Ring Finders!
