Like most of my searches, it starts with a call or an email asking if I could help find something someone has lost. I have a series of questions I will ask in order to feel out the situation and the chances I will have for finding it. Sometimes it gets no further than the phone call, as some people explained that they had lost it in a department store or in a taxi, places I have no chance of finding what they lost.
After an email asking me if I could help find a lost wedding band I replied and asked if he could call me to discuss it further. I get the call and listen to a story on where he believes the ring was lost, he told me that he had searched for it as soon as he realized it fell off his finger but it was dark, with the flashlight on his phone he could not see the ring anywhere. He came back the next morning early and still could not find his ring.
I asked him about the area as I was not familiar with Cooper’s Park, it turned out to be along the seawall, the only area the ring could be for me to find it was in a very narrow strip of grass that separated the bike path and the runners/walkers path. Unfortunately, this was not good news, I asked if you could send me a picture of the location and he pulled one off of Google earth and I could see right away he had less than 5% chance of his ring being in the grass area. I call these type of searches closure searches, I will come in and close off the only area I can search in order to give them closure that the ring is not there or by luck, it is there.
We set up a time to meet the next day at 9 AM, as soon as we met I knew this person, it was Jon Cryer from Two and a Half Men. I told him I really enjoyed his character on that show and he was very humble and thanked me for saying that. Such a nice person, as nice in real life as you would imagine him to be.
That being said the pressure was on, we discussed the search and Jon showed me around the area where he believed the ring had fallen. I told him there was approximately a 5% chance of finding his ring due to the fact it was all concrete apart from a little slice of grass that separated the bike path and the runner’s path. Together we walked around and eyeballed the ground around the area but I felt the chances were huge that someone had already found the ring the day before.
While Jon was walking around looking in the cracks and crevices of the walkway I started my search of the grass area, surprisingly with the odds against us and within five minutes, I had found Jon’s beautiful wedding band! I have to tell you, I was surprised to see his ring poking through the grass, got to surprise John and see how happy it made him.
I have the best job in the world and I love doing this more than anything I’ve done in my lifetime. I get to make people smile, I get to hear their stories of what the ring means to them and how happy they are when I’m lucky enough to find it.

Well sometimes you find the ring quickly and other times it could take days. My last search was for a ring that was thrown out of anger and I spent 4 days and a total of 21 hours and no luck! I hate that result because it should be there? I believe I did my best but sometimes you just can’t find them for whatever unknown reason may be a squirrel, maybe a bird, maybe superhuman strength, and the ring went onto the road. Just to let you guys know I don’t always find everything I’m looking for, but I don’t give up easily.
Yesterday I got a phone call from a young man he said his friend lost his gold ring over his balcony down a bit of a ravine and no one could find it. He gave me the information and some details, then he connected me with his friend, the young man told me it was a custom-made gold ring with diamonds that he had for a very short time. I can sense his urgency and even though it was 5 PM rush-hour I jumped into my car and drove an hour and 30 minutes to Mission where he lived to help him find his lost ring.
When I arrived I met Terry and we discussed the search, I could see where he and his friends were searching with a metal detector but had no luck, it was just starting to get dark so I turned on my headlights and off to work I went. Strangely the search area was very similar to the last search that took me four days with no luck, uneven surfaces and lots of Ivy makes it extremely difficult.
After approximately 40 minutes and moving some logs and branches I received a very good signal and to my delight, I caught a glimpse of his beautiful custom gold ring! I was extremely excited and started packing up and climbing up the ravine, when I got to the top where I was putting down my equipment Terry drove up to the driveway, I didn’t know he had already gone and came back. When he got close I told him I needed to go get some more equipment because of the harsh terrain, then I held up the ring in front of him. I have the best job in the world I get to make people smile!

I got a call from a couple on their Honeymoon that had lost their Wedding band. The bride got hit with a big wave that knocked off her ring. I immediately rushed to the beach . Tyreece called and told me that his fiancé was swimming in Lake Campbell at their neighbors backyard dock. While she was wading in the water her young daughter, also in the water, reached out for her mother’s hand and pulled her precious engagement ring straight off her finger. This rings is a 100 year old white gold diamond family heirloom engagement ring. Fortunately Silver was able to report that she felt the ring being pulled from her finger and bouncing down her leg to the bottom of the lake. She put a dive mask on and swam under water a several times looking around but could see absolutely nothing due to the poor visibility. As so many others can attest it quickly becomes very discouraging to say the least when something so sentimental is lost in the water like this. The fear that it will never be found can be quite overwhelming to many people.

After showing up I was quite surprised to see how much bloom and silt was in the water. Fortunately Silver told me that she found the bottom of the lake to be more of a firm dirt composition apposed to a thick silty mess. This was encouraging to me that her ring would be a bit easier once I acquired it position with my dive detector.
As soon as I noticed how much silt and bloom was in the lake upon my arrival I knew I needed to construct my PVC search grid. Once again it paid dividends keeping me focused on a concise grid search not missing an inch. It was also a big help that Silver realized when her ring was pulled off from her finger and got me directly over the drop zone.

Received a phone call from Eddy last evening about having lost his wedding band at Sand Banks Provincial Park. They are vacationing from the Barrie area. Eddy was playing the in the sand, burying his two year old daughter in the sand and notice shortly after that his wedding band was missing. After an hour or so of gridding the area, ring was found. Another happy ending.
I got a call to find a white gold wedding band by a man. he wanted to wait to go to find it. I thought that it was ok to wait. Due to bad weather conditions and the fact that it was a state park. He was reviewing his videos of his outing at the park to see exactly where he lost it. he changed the search location slightly by one exit . Then back again to the original. Jonathan contacted me explaining a few weeks prior he and his wife were surfing at Westport WA. He told me that he stashed all of his gear on the big rocks near the shore line. However when he started walking in the surf he was concerned about his gold heirloom wedding ring. At this moment when he went to check his ring it got loose and fell off his finger. He watched it fall into the ocean water and was devastated. He then spent a lot of focused time and energy searching the sands hoping to find his ring. Even after purchasing a pair of swim goggles and returning the next day at low tide to no avail Jonathan was not able to locate his gold wedding band. After much time we settled on one specific spot that grabbed his attention from his best memory. I keep Jonathan on the call as I walked out into the surf and this was one of the smartest decisions I made all night that truly paid off immensely.
We were amazed his gold heirloom wedding ring, having been lost at sea in the surf sands for a total of nineteen days, remained in place as if held by the very hand of God until the day of recovery. I was honored to have the oppertunity in recovering Jonathan’s ring. Now his cherished family heirloom wedding ring can live on as an example to all to never give up on hope and faith. James contacted me asking for some assistance in recovering his lost gold wedding band. He explained he had been doing some exercises earlier in the morning at Kinnear Park on Queen Ann Hill in Seattle. He had some gymnastic rings attached to the swing set and was doing a few moves. He decided to take his wedding ring off and placed it into his shorts pocket. Most likely after doing a few simple inversions the ring fell out and was quickly obscured by the wood chips below. He poked around looking for his ring but could not locate it. He knew he had to get someone with a metal detector if he was to get his ring back.
