LOST YOUR RING, DON’T WAIT TO CALL!

215-850-0188

I received a call  from Ali Saturday afternoon after she realized she lost her 14k white gold

and diamond engagement ring in the sand during a day at the beach in Avalon,  New Jersey.

Ali gave me the details of how the ring was lost; she put the ring in her T-shirt pocket, and it

must have fallen out when the shirt was removed.  The search began in the area where

she and her family were sitting. And after a few swings of the metal detector, the ring was found!

Grandfather’s Wedding Band Lost in the Sand, Found and Returned North Myrtle Beach SC

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

I got a call from Sarah, with a Seattle phone number, asking if I was The Ring Finder for N. Myrtle Beach and if I could help find the silver ring she had lost. I got a few details and told her I was on my way. She said she was on 30th St and she’d send me a pin drop. I verified she was in North Myrtle beach and not Myrtle beach. Both cities have the same street numbers and to visitors it can get confusing. I grabbed my Equinox 800 and headed out, hoping I’d get her location before I got too far. North Myrtle has two 30th Avenues, one North and one South so I was driving slowly, waiting for her location. Her text came through, but the location wouldn’t come up, so I called her. I ask if she was in Cherry Grove or NMB. She said Cherry Grove and I told her I’d be there in 10 minutes. When I got there and walked out on the beach, she was standing there waiting along with 2 of her friends.

We talked for a few minutes, and she said they were on spring break from Vermont and on their way out of town. I told her “Let’s find it” and she showed me an area that was maybe 20’X5′. Turned on the Nox and started a grid search. My third line and about a minute later, I got a booming signal with a VDI of 30-32, higher than what I expected but I dug a scoop anyway. I missed it the first time but saw a glimmer of shine sticking up out of the sand. I reached down, picked up a beautiful heavy ring and held it up for her to see, asking “is this your ring.” She came running over, looked at it and said, “that’s my ring!” I asked for the story behind the ring, and she told me it belonged to her grandfather, who had passed away before she was born. She also said her father had given it to her. I asked if she had called her dad yet and she said yes. So, I took a quick picture of her holding it and sent it to her so she could forward it to you dad. Big smile and a hug with many thank Yous and Sarah and her friends were on their way.

Sarah – Thank you for trusting me and The Ring Finders to help find your lost treasure. Have a safe trip back to school.

I received a text from Mrs. Jeanette on Sunday night. She said she found me on the ring finders page. She asked for help finding her gold ring with diamonds. I said sure!

She lives in Lexington, NC (2 hour drive one-way). I get there and she tells me about how she lost it and where she marked the area with a stick.

I get my gear out and 5 mins later, BOOM!!! I can see her ring just under some grass. She couldn’t believe I found it so fast. It was less than 2 feet fro the stick too!!

Then I had my 2 hour drive back home!

I love helping out and putting smiles back on someone’s face!!

New to Calgary, She Hid Her Rings

  • from Cochrane (Alberta, Canada)

Daylene has had a very difficult year. Lots of change and health scares led her to hide her rings in her newly purchased home. Months later and still having  significant stresses, she couldn’t locate the rings she tucked away earlier and now that was weighing on her as well. Daylene called me and we talked. In the end, we decided that a different perspective, some integrity and a little tenacity would go a long way to providing some relief.  She was right, we found the rings but not quite how she thought we would.

Megan was splashing her brother while sitting in the surf in Sea Isle City, NJ when the unexpected happened; her rose gold promise ring flew off her finger into the ocean with one of the splashes. Her mother reached out to me, and I explained that we had a good chance of finding it. I met the family on the beach and started working under the low-tide line parallel to the surf, working my way up the slope. I dug a few targets before getting a “promising” signal that was 5-6 inches deep. I dug one final scoop, and the ring was returned to Megan!

Kelowna Lost Wedding Ring Found and Returned

  • from Kelowna (British Columbia, Canada)

Aliya called me that her husband Nathaniel had lost a Wedding Ring the previous evening, I responded right away. The Family had been having a photo shoot on Dilworth Mountain. During the photo shoot Nathaniel did not wear his wedding ring because it did not fit properly, so he borrowed his fathers ring ( who was not with them) for the shoot, unfortunately his fathers ring was also too loose, and wouldn’t you know it, he lost it. The family all searched the suspected loss location with no success, as luck would have it during their search, someone stepped on the ring and pushed it into the ground. The first sweep of my detector gave a signal, and after scraping the dirt we had fathers ring recovered. Everyone one was happy, and it saved an embarrassing conversation with father.

Gold Ring lost in Sea at Uretiti Beach – Found !

  • from Paihia (New Zealand)

Frances was enjoying a swim with her friends at Uretiti Beach, near Whangarei after a round of golf.

While in the water, she suddenly felt her very sentimental gold ring slip off her finger. Looking down, she could see it although couldn’t get to it. After repeated efforts she finally lost sight of it – Gone.

She was understandably very upset when she phoned me, the emotion of losing an obviously very special item was clearly evident over the phone and she wasn’t entirely convinced it would be worth trying to find it again.

I assured her that after hearing the details I didn’t consider it irretrievably lost, and made arrangements to drive down the following morning.

Onsite, we walked down to, and along the beach a little way.

She had taken a photo of the dunes, which helped narrow down where they had been – Nothing boosts the odds in your favour like having an accurate start point!

I walked down the beach and straight into the tide – with a 150km drive each way, I needed to ensure I found it on this visit.

The waves were small today, which was a pleasant change for this ocean beach

After about an hour and a half, I lifted the scoopful of sand and there was a lovely gold band.  I held it up to show Frances who was up by the dunes and waded in.

On handing it to Frances, I joked, “This where you say it’s not yours” with a chuckle.

I stopped grinning as soon as she replied, “It’s not mine.”

“What?”

Back into the tide.

Thirty minutes later, another ring.  The reaction when I showed Frances was enough to tell me that this time it was definitely the right one.

That job done, I now start the sleuthing to locate the owner of the other ring…
