Stolen Wedding Ring in Rathdrum Idaho, FOUND!!

Life steals away lots of things, memories, happiness, and loved ones. However when an item is stolen from your possession by another human it leaves a sting that never fully goes away. Likewise when the item is stolen by a family member you are left with a hurting heart and the feeling of a hopeless loss. For Ric and Ronda the latter came true while the snow began to fall in Idaho. The full story of the how the ring went missing was validated by a lie detection test and a trip to the pawn shop. Both tests proved that the ring that was stolen, was pawned, bought back and then thrown into Ric and Ronda’s front yard. A metal detector was rented and use but the ring still remained lost. Ric was using google to find a better metal detector but found instead The Ring Finders directory. I called Ric as fast as my fingers could dial the number he left in his email. We discussed “the story” behind the stolen ring, then made a plan for me to come over the next day. I arrived to the snowy front yard of Ric and Ronda’s and began to ask my standard questions of what kind of ring was it and what kind of gold was it made of. Ric’s reply was let me go get a picture of it. Ric came back out of the house with the insurance pictures of a stunning yellow and white gold marquise diamond wedding ring. I knew if the ring was there I was going to hear a loud signal under the two inches of snow. I could see the path where the person with a metal detector was looking but knew my 18 years of detecting was going to find it even if a coil had already passed over the ring. So back and forth I weaved talking and keeping the mood light. I had just asked a question to Ric while kicking away the snow that was over a 53 vdi signal, I remember that I had said “her ring” in the question. However I can’t recall the question because when I looked back down at the snow I saw the top half of a large gold ring. I said “hey Ric Her Ring” and I kept repeating her ring until he came over to look. Meanwhile Ronda was quickly exiting the front screen door exclaiming did he find it? With the pure excitement of the whole ordeal Ric’s wide eyes could not see the ring laying in the grass and snow. My hand met his and pointed out the location of his Wife’s wedding ring. Tears, screams of joy, clutched hands shaking with relief, my big smile , all erupted and all happened in less time then it took for the ring to fly out of a car window and land at the edge of Ric and Ronda’s snowy front yard. The story of life has many twists and turns, some leading to a hurting heart but leading to the joy only a Ring Finders Recovery can bring. Ric told me he had set the stones in Ronda’s ring 20 some years ago. I could see the happy moment when he gave her that ring for the first time, return to his smiling face. Silver Coins Lost in house fire, Found !! Washington

Out of all of the texts and phone calls that I have received through The Ring Finders website, none of them took my breath away like the one that I received about a house that had burned down. The owners of the house had lost a large quantity of silver and were requesting my help to find the rest. Throughout the few texts and phone calls my remorse for their loss grew and grew. So I agreed to go to their house that day with my metal detector and try to recover what they had lost. While driving to the house I was trying to imagine what I would encounter when I drove into their driveway. However nothing I thought about could prepare me for what I saw. Where a once unique and timeless home stood, now sat the charred remains of brick and ash. After serving the basement where the house had fallen in on itself, I began my work with my metal detector. It blew my mind working in a house that had fully burned down. It was shocking to see only small fragments of wood that weren’t fully charred and finding hunks of metal that were fully melted to the point that they became liquid. My research of house fires revealed that an average house fire can reach between 1700 to 2000°F. Silver melts at 1763°F. So it’s likely their house fire could’ve easily have melted all the coins into one large clump. The other shocking detail is that the only items that were not turned to dust were nails, pipes and any other metal items that were inside the house. Using a Metal detector to find metal in a sea of metal is impossible. While scanning over the piles of soot and ash my white spectra V3i made an orchestra of sound. After I set it up to only find the silver that I was looking for I still had a problem. All metal detectors can’t see through metal. So using my metal detector was not a viable option. So I grabbed my sand scoop and began sifting. Each basket that I had scooped and shifted revealed a few pieces of silver. This ignited the spirit of the home owners and myself to further pursue the search for the lost silver. We looked for and constructed a lager but crude sifter. We placed two metal stove racks together and then began to shovel loads of rubble onto them. I was in charge of the shovel and the homeowner was holding the racks at an angle. This allowed the coins to be spotted as the debris slid down. Both our spirits hung onto every coin that revealed itself. When the coins stopped showing up, the overwhelming task of sifting out all the coins became daunting. However that was sober truth, no coin was going to be found if it wasn’t sifted out. So for the past three weekends I have loaded up all my gear, the 2×4 ft sifter I had made, two neodymium magnets, my whites spectra v3i, a rake and four five gallon buckets. I took all of these tools to help further my chances to find the coins. I also have to give credit to the homeowners, they knew exactly where in the house the coins were stored and gave me exact areas to start sifting through. The homeowners were the heavy lifters and I was the coin hunter. They would move all of the bricks and heavy metal items out of the way and I would sift through the nearly 863 cubic yards worth of debris. After sifting through where the coins should have been, I had to use my Ring Finders detective skills and think outside of the box. In one location the coins were above a set of stairs in a closet. If one could imagine them falling down they might have hit the stairs and cascaded in the opposite direction. In fact, as the second weekend concluded our shouts of joy rang out as a group of 30 coins was discovered. I was able to use my metal detector to find the group because the magnets I brought picked up enough metal to allow the metal detector to see the coins. In total I was able to extract 184 coins from the house achiving a 75% recovery of the total lost coins. The idea of the coins being lost for good might be hard to understand, however a large amount of melted globes of silver where also recovered in the ash. A once in a life time opportunity came to me because of a devastating event. However the faith of the homeowners to trust me to help them, shows me that the material possessions of this life are not as valuable as the act of trust and generosity to a complete stranger.

Mans Platinum wedding ring lost in North Spokane WA, Found!!!!

This morning I woke up with a lost ring call from a man named Sebastian. His story was short and sweet. Sebastian was walking with his wife along a path behind his apartment. With the snow falling he couldn’t resist a small snowball toss at his wife. Promptly the wedding ring he wore, also couldn’t resist flying off his cold finger. The couple looked and dug through the snow with no success. So after gathering my equipment I made my way over to Sebastian’s apartment. We spoke briefly about the lost ring and then I began swinging my way down the freshly plowed walkway. My thoughts were the ring had been pitched to the side of the path. However after two minutes of walking, Sebastian said “swing over the concrete path”. There was snow and ice covering the path enough to conceal the ring. My coil was about a foot from the boots of Sebastian when I got a signal. My pin pointer confirmed that it was close to the surface and my fingernail revealed the shiny rim of his platinum wedding ring. I think this search broke the record for my fastest recovery. A very good start to the New Year I’d say, the snow is always good at loosening rings.

Lost White Gold Wedding ring lost in CDA Idaho, Was Found!!

The same choices made everyday are often the same choices made right before one might lose their ring. Likewise for Jamie, when her husband had come home she brought out her two wound up dogs for their moonlight walk. The air’s cool grip clung on tight that night but never the less when the walk was finished the dogs, Jamie’s husband and Jamie all had fun playing around in the pile of leaves. The playing in the leaves came to a close and the family retired back into the house. Upon a quick glance and with a rapid heart beat “my ring is missing” slipped out of Jamie’s mouth. The search was on. Flashlights and retraced steps left both Jamie and her husband at a loss. The next morning the dogs where lethargic with Jamie’s sadness. The only thing Jamie could possibly do was surfed the web for answers. The Knot, a wedding website, told her to call The Ring Finders. So Jamie sent me a frantic text, “I lost my ring are you still available?” I quickly called her and talked about the unfortunate night she had been through and then made arrangements to meet her after work. I knew that the ring could be anywhere in the leaves, on the path they took, in the yard, or on someone else’s hand. Hopeful I took off on my search. A quick pass in the pile of leaves, a stroll through the yard and back in the pile of leaves lead me straight to her ring. With a bit of confidence I looked over my shoulder at Jamie walking beside me and gave her a smile. ” If this signal isn’t your ring I’ll be surprised,”I said. I bent down and slowly pulled back the pile of leaves and revealed Jamie’s lost ring. lost man’s tungsten wedding ring in Coeur d’Alene Lake , Found!!!

Who would of known that in Carlin bay on lake Coeur d’Alene in Idaho under 25 feet of water hid the monkey that has been riding my back since March. Oh and also Tyler’s wedding ring. This search was a great example of how knowing where a ring was lost can dramatically improve its ability to be recovered in the water. Tyler lost his wedding ring right behind his boat in the private marina he uses. Tyler was putting on some sunscreen when his tight fitting ring flew off. So after diving in and failing to see the ring, his wife found my Ring Finders link. After hearing his story I decided to use a dive weight with a 1ft PVC pipe attached to mark the spot where Tyler thought the ring entered the water. The fist attempt I made to find Tyler’s ring was unsuccessful. First of all the silt down at 25ft was 2 feet thick, and inside that silt was fishing tackle and wood boards. So before the second attempt Tyler relocated the marker. In fact he placed that marker so accurately when I dove down and started searching I found his ring in less then a minute. Just a hand full of silt was all it took to pluck Tyler’s ring out of the abyss. Feeling that ring slide over my finger as I moved my hand back and forth in front of the coil nearly sent me to the surface. However keeping my wits about me I made sure the ring was safely secured on my hand and checked out my surroundings before ascending. That’s when I saw it, the way I was going to surprise Tyler. A lost led light was sitting just a few feet to my right. I swam over to it and grabbed it with the same hand the ring was on and then headed top side. As I surfaced, Tyler’s face showed worry because I came back up so quickly and faster then I had before. Seeing this I held up the led light and asked him what do you think this is. His lack of response was priceless because then I turned my pinky finger with the ring on it towards him and said what do you think this is. Confusion turned to joy quickly and I congratulated Tyler on putting the marker right next to the ring. After packing up my gear Tyler showed me the inside of his ring. Psalm 119:105 and his wife’s finger print were laser etched on the ring. After I got home and unpacked, I grabbed the led light and thought about Tyler’s verse. The verse says
Your word is a lamp for my feet,
a light on my path.
I then laughed out loud and said Amen.

Lost Keys in the snow north Spokane, Found !!!

Normally, the one who loses an item, finds a Ring Finder to help. However, today Thomas and his son Benjamin decided to place a Craigslist ad stating the need for a person with a metal detector to find some lost keys. This being a very cold, but sunny Sunday I was watching TV and checking out Craigslist. Finding and reading Thomas and Benjamin’s post about their lost keys, almost made me feel like Batman would have when the bat signal was shown in the sky. So after a quick phone interaction and finding the address on google maps, I was at Thomas’s house swinging my Whites detector in over two feet of snow. Keys can be a hard item to pick up with the normal settings, so I opened up my V3I to accept all metal. The front yard had only a few targets buried deep past the snow and in the lawn and not one was the set of keys. Then Thomas told me two other locations to search. The side yard gave up a few really large targets but no keys, so then we went back by the garage. Suddenly, low and behold, the keys gave me a sound. After giving a quick kick at the snow I said here they are. Benjamin came over with a grin of disbelief and plucked out his keys that he lost over three weeks ago. For Thomas without having his sight he was only able to hold and feel the cold wet metal of the keys. However, this didn’t stop the overwhelming emotion he felt. Thomas couldn’t stop saying how happy he was and how I was his hero. So after we found the keys, I got to see the ’74 Dodge Dart one of the keys belonged too. Also Thomas told me of the important safes that were unlockable until now. This was unlike any search I’ve done where I found the person who lost something, and then turned around and found the lost item. Regardless of this not being a ring search, the sentimental meaning of some of the keys and key fobs made succeeding in this Ring Finders key return, priceless. Lost Men’s Gold Wedding ring FOUND !!!! Airway Heights ,WA

As my Sunday was winding down; a newlywed couple, Clint and Samantha were frantically looking for Clint’s lost wedding ring. The newlyweds had just returned from a two week honeymoon. Normally returning to the extended stay parking lot at the Hampton Inn would be effortless. However, while Clint and Samantha were vacationing the snow came down, over 40 inches of the stuff. Needless to say their car was buried in snow. So the deadly concoction of cold wet snow and bare hands made a newlyweds ring fly into oblivion. A call to Samantha’s sister brought up the Ring Finders and my contact info. and the search was on. I scanned the spot where the car sat and around where the snow from the car had been tossed. The parking lot they were in was full so I was doing my best to not get a false signal from the Ford F 250 and a Toyota. Digging out the snow around the other cars didn’t produce the ring. Looking in the cracks of the newlyweds car didn’t produce the ring. Scanning every thing one more time also didn’t produce Clint’s ring. I even looked under the Ford and Toyota with a light. This all was a means to and end, because I had my trx pinpointer and was not going to give up. So by process of elimination I pinpointed around each tire of both of the other cars. Just behind the Toyota passenger tire, my pinpointer went off. Clint’s wedding ring was Found Finally. The crazy thing was I had already removed the light snow around that tire and the ring melted its way into the harder snow that had been there a while. Warm rings that fall in snow like to sink as fast as a hot knife through butter. Engagement ring lost in Lincoln park WA, Found!!!

Heather went for a walk this morning on an paved path through a fall covered forest. Along the way the hill she was climbing leveled out and Heather took a break. After pulling off the gloves on her hands, Heather walked up the rest of the hill. Near the top of said hill, Heather’s heart sank. Because with a quick glance at her left hand, she saw that the engagement ring she had been wearing for a month was gone. So the search began. In the pine needles, at home by the sink and then back on the path where she was walking. After no luck, Heather called her fiancée Jack and told him the bad news. Being the ever persistence problem solver, Jack began searching from his job in California. Jack found the ring finders and Heather called me. It was like it was meant to be, I was on my way up near that park. My wife was able to bring me my metal detector and I was able to start searching soon after the ring was lost. All that needed to happen now was to find the missing ring. But it wasn’t near where Heather took off her gloves, or where she stopped and turned around, or on the other side of the path. So I began to walk and walk we did. About 100 yards from where the gloves came off sat Heather’s ring, on the asphalt path in plain sight. I counted about six people that passed us while we were searching for the lost ring, and all of them either walked over the ring or near it. I told Heather at the beginning of the searching, after the ring comes off the hand, its hard to say where it might end up, and as for Heather’s ring I’m so glad it stayed where it fell.

Lost Wedding Ring In North Spokane, Found !!!

As I pulled into my last window cleaning job for the day, Steve a caring husband called me about his wife’s lost silver wedding ring. A month ago Steve and his wife were raking the backyard. After the work was done Steve’s wife’s ring was long gone, until today. After I arrived Steve showed me the pile of grass that was raked up and the small yard where they were working. I searched the pile of grass and found a dime which gave a very similar reading to his wife’s ring. So then I started my grid around the outside of the yard. As I got close to an old tree stump my coil passed over two signals. One of the signals was a penny and the other, the wedding ring Steve’s wife lost. At this point I didn’t know where Steve had gone off too. So I put the ring in my hand with the few coins and pull tabs that I found in my short search. I walked over to the stairs where I saw Steve last and set the handful of finds down on the rail. Just as I stood up I heard Steve say, “find anything”? With a hidden smile I pointed to the pile and said “yeah this stuff right here”. Steve walked over and started looking really hard at the pile of stuff when he noticed the ring under a freshly dug pull tab. Wow, OMG, Where did you find it, OMG. All this being said, I gathered he was happy the search for his wife’s ring was over. Later after I left he called and said his wife was crying on the phone after he sent her a picture of her lost ring. This is what makes a successful hunt magical, the opportunity to give a lost item back to the owner and the “thank you’s” that stream down their face. Teenage Girl loses Two necklaces charms in CDA lake idaho..Was Found !!!

On August 3 Amber, her mom Jodi , their two dogs and friend Michael all went down to Higgins point on CDA lake. Amber was enjoying a swim by herself but wanted some company so she invited the dogs to join her. Then without any warning Amber’s lab panicked in the water right next to her. The thrashing legs of Amber’s dog scratched her back and broke the chain necklace that was around her neck. However no one saw this happen and no one saw that two of the four pendents had fallen off the chain. As amber returned to shore with a throbbing back and no idea of the real pain to come, she exited the water and discovered her broken necklace. A whole week went by for Amber, with tears and past memories of her lost pendant’s. Amber’s mom Jodi knew of the anguish her daughter felt and took to Craigslist to seek help. I being an active Ring finders member, search the lost and found when ever I can. On Sunday morning I saw Jodi’s post about the lost pendant’s. But unlike most posts with the writer admitting they have no idea of the location of said item, Jodi was able to describe the exact moment with a fixed rock formation marking where the pendants were lost. I saw all of this and knew Jodi and Amber needed my help. So with a few emails and phone calls I headed out to Higgins point. Arriving at Higgins point I called Jodi and soon found the rock formation and the scene of the incident. Michael, Jodi’s friend showed up as I was about to enter the water and gave me some tips on where he thought the pendants fell off. I didn’t know it until after Michael had left, that he had sat down and was pointing right in line with the pendants. I had walked over the pendants at least twice and swung over them with my detector. However I did not get a signal. It was when I put my Fisher CZ-21 in all metal mode that I got a signal and recovered both pendants. The silvered colored phantom of the Oprah mask pendant was found first and then the most treasured Fifteen Gold pendant. I returned the pendant’s to Jodi at their house but couldn’t stay to see Amber’s reaction, Although Jodi sent me a quick video of Amber opening the original box to find her pendants. Amber was overwhelmed and elated that her lost pendents had come back to her .
