Hearing Aid Lost in Dunedin, Florida…Found

  • from Dunedin (Florida, United States)
  • When I became a member of The Ring Finders last month, I mentioned in my bio that locating a lost hearing aid was what led me to join an international group of metal detecting specialists who help reunite people with their lost rings and other metal valuables.
In December, a neighbor asked me to help her find her grandson Ben’s hearing aid that he had lost while playing in the yard with his sister. I began my search in an area where Ben’s grandmother said that he began to chase his sister around the corner of the house. After a 30 minute search in thick St. Augustine grass, I located the hearing aid which was mostly plastic but contained sufficient metal to allow detection. The hearing aid had a $5,000 replacement value but my neighbor’shugs and smiles were priceless.

During a snow storm in December 2019, Lee lost his rose gold wedding band while playing with his Labrador retriever.  He was anxious to find his ring, so he purchased a metal detector.  After unsuccessfully searching for his ring, Lee decided to turn to someone who was experienced in the use of a metal detector.  It took about two hours for me to find the wedding band as Lee was not exactly sure where it was lost.  Lee and his wife of less than two months were very happy to have the ring returned to them.

Pat called me on Tuesday evening to ask for help in finding Ann’s lost wedding ring. The one he gave her 40 years ago. Ann had been playing volleyball with the grandkids in the front yard of their home. After that and some basketball, she noticed her wedding ring was not on her finger. I said we would be there to hunt at 8:00 AM the next day. Carrie and I loaded up early and arrived at the hunt site on time. Ann showed us where she was during the volleyball game. Sid found it 10 minutes after the hunt began. Needless to say, Ann was very happy to see her ring again. It was a pleasure to help out such a charming lady. Thank you for your generous reward and the delicious blueberry muffins.
