Emily and her fiance Will, were just coming home from an evening out and Will was exhausted and he opted to call it a night. Where as Emily felt the need to take a bit of a stroll and check out the night sky. They had originally taken Will’s car so upon arriving home Emily went to her car and before taking her walk she removed her engagement ring and put it into her purse for safe keeping. She proceeded to walk through the yard sort of meandering here and there with the end result of ending up on the boat dock where she could get a clear view of the night sky.

The next morning Emily looked in her purse for her ring and it was no where to be found. They looked all over the yard, on the boat dock, in the car and even bought a metal detector which all it did was wound up making allot of noise! After exhausting all their efforts they went online and found one of my stories on theringfinders.com website and gave me a call. Later that day I met Will and he walked me around the large yard and down to the boat dock. I set out my orange flags and started grid searching from where Emily got out of her car and I figured this may take ma a long time—as they did not indicate at any time that Emily had dropped her purse or had set it down anywhere, except on the dock over the water where she sat down for a while to enjoy the stars. There was allot of the usual yard trash like gum wrapper foil, pull tabs and the odd coin. After 35 minutes I got a strong quarter signal and sure enough a shiny new quarter was just in the grass…I retrieved it and got another signal about 14 inches away…this time it read as a pull tab but it was not a pull tab! It was Emily’s lost diamond engagement ring just setting there in the grass. (Come to find out later that Will had actually used a quarter to see if the metal detecting would work and little did he know that Emily’s ring would be so close to where he was looking!). Again I thank God for allowing me to find Emily and Will’s lost engagement ring and for the opportunity to help someone in need of theringfinders.com services!

Lost ring in car in Orlando, Florida….Found and returned to happy owner!

Got a call from Christine who asked if I could possible help her find her diamond engagement ring which fell in her car by the drivers seat and somehow just disappeared! Her husband tried looking for it with a flashlight and literally bruised and scraped up both hands while sticking his fingers into the small cracks and crevices trying his best to locate his dear wife’s lost ring. They even took it to the Mazda dealer and they removed the seat and searched for the ring as well but were unable to find her lost engagement ring. Christine was very distraught over the whole ordeal and went online to look for some help and stumbled onto theringfinders.com. She was fascinated that there actually existed a unique service of ring finding specialists who recover lost ring on land, in the water, in cars and most anyplace imaginable. She called me and I came the next day with my equipment and began my search. My main tool of choice for these types of searches is an endoscope that is ideal for looking in tiny, restricted areas. Under Christine’s car seat there was only one slit in the carpet where electrical wires go to control the seat adjustments. It took about 20 minutes and at one point I saw a penny that was in a small grooved area and further back behind the penny I saw a sparkling reflection that could only be Christine’s diamond ring. I then rigged up a thin cooper wire with a small hook on the end and carefully worked it along the cable of my endoscope and gently and very slowly pulled her ring out to where I could grab it with my fingers. I handed the ring to Christine’s husband and said, “How should we surprise Christine?”. Just then Christine came out of the house and asked how it was going. So I casually said, “Well I did find a penny…..and then I found this hiding behind the penny!”. Christine could not hold back the tears…only these were tears of JOY!!

John Jr. called me from Flagler Beach on Mothers Day to ask for my help! You see, his wife had wrapped her engagement ring in her shirt and left it on the beach towel as they swam and enjoyed the Florida sun, sand and ocean water. (This was their last day in Florida and they needed to return their rental car and catch a plane to Chicago later on in the day.). So when the time came to pack everything up they grabbed the beach chairs, umbrella, towels, coolers and their items of clothing like T-shirts, sandals and a certain shirt all neatly rolled up! Unfortunately they forgot that John’s wife’s engagement ring was tucked away inside and when they shook the sand out of the shirt, the ring went flying into the soft coquina sand! They frantically searched for some time by dragging their fingers through the sand hoping to catch a glimpse of the platinum ring and someone suggested looking online for some help and that is what led John Jr to give me a call. Here is what John’s father wrote…”I am so grateful for Mike McInroe and for his services today. Here is Patsy’s story in her own words! “On Palm Sunday, April 2, 2023 my husband and I were visiting our son in Orlando, Florida where we lived previously for 20 years. We now live in Tennessee. This was our BIG two week vacation with a trip to Miami to see our daughter and then on to Fort Lauderdale for a 9 day cruise! While in Orlando we went to Mass at St James Cathedral, and walked to it from our hotel near the Florida Hospital. We forgot how humid Orlando is and by the time we arrived at Church, both of us had swollen hands from the walking and the humidity. My wedding band started to feel tight and I was worried I wouldn’t be able to get it off, so I wrangled it off as we left church. We saw a festival going on next door at Lake Eola Park and headed that way. Previously I had put my ring in my fanny pack and double checked to make sure it was in properly. It was. When we arrived at the park, a number of tents were selling various foods and candied pecans which looked so good to me. So being cautious (I thought) I stepped over under a couple of trees, opened up my fanny pack and pulled out some cash for the nuts. Later that evening, when it had cooled down, I thought it would be safe to put my wedding ring back on. Except there was no wedding band to be found. Not in the fanny pack, not on the floor, no where! We asked our son and his girlfriend to come back to the park with us and look around, which we did. NO RING! Nothing like feeling sick about a loss the first day of our vacation! But I was determined it was not going to ruin things and I soldiered on. We went to Miami the following day and I remembered reading about volunteers throughout the country who use metal detectors to find lost items. So, from the hotel in Miami, I looked for someone in Orlando I could contact and found Mike McInroe! I texted him late and he responded right away, asking for details and maps. Since I was unable to take a screen shot on the hotel computer, I hand drew a couple of little maps with notes and arrows, took photos of them and sent them off to Mike. I wasn’t in Orlando and I could only tell him what I remembered. He was extraordinarily patient, asking clarifying questions and said he would give it a shot, even though we both knew the odds were stacked against us. And to top it off we would be unable to use internet on the ship although we could receive text messages in some areas. I checked periodically but saw nothing from Mike. I thought he had given up and was waiting to tell me the bad news once I returned home. Then when we landed in Atlanta, about 40 text messages came through, even though we were in Florida for a few hours before we flew back from Fort Lauderdale. Why they didn’t come through then I have no clue. But there was one from Mike, with a photo of my ring and the great news that he had found it! I cannot tell you how excited I was. Even though I only got married in 2017 it was my first marriage, making it all the more special because we bought our rings in Ireland! I am still amazed and in awe of the outcome. Mike has such a positive attitude and calm demeanor, that I could have handled it even if he had not found my lost ring. But he DID FIND IT!! He sent it by UPS to me in Tennessee and that is my Happy Ending! And frankly, an amazing story to tell my friends and family who don’t believe we actually got our lost ring back! Thank you Mike!”

Lost gold ring at Daytona Beach, Florida….Found!

Brandon was enjoying the hot sun and warm waters with his family and everything was going great until the chain around his neck broke and a very special ring that was attached fell into the churning Atlantic surf! This special gold wedding ring was a gift that belonged to his deceased grandmother and something that Brandon cherished very, very much! He was heart broken and extremely upset with himself for not remembering to take the chain off before going into the water. (The best thing would have been to leave it at home or in his vehicle!). Allot of people think they will not lose their ring or chain because it has never just come off before and say to themselves, “What could possibly happen?”.

Thankfully Brandon was quite sure of the area where he was standing when he lost his precious ring! The following day I arrived just before low tide and marked out an area with my flags and began my grid search. Brandon and his wife watched for a while as I made my way in and out of the surf and I am sure they were anxious to see if I would uncover his ring. I dug a few targets here and there, the usual coin or two and a pull tab. Brandon was getting ready to leave in his vehicle to get their kids when I motioned for him to check out what I had just dug! Overjoyed and with tears in his eyes he confirmed that my last target was indeed his grandmothers lost gold wedding ring! With tears in my own eyes I said a silent prayer to thank my heavenly Father for helping me find and return Brandon’s lost ring!

Lost wedding ring in grass, Longwood, Florida….found with a metal detector!

Marybeth was playing with her children in the back yard throwing water balloons and as she raised her hand to catch one that was thrown in her direction it hit her in the left palm just right and knocked her precious wedding ring right off of her finger. She actually felt her ring come off and immediately she began to look in the grass around her. Unfortunately the type of grass was our famous St. Augustine grass that is super thick and is known to swallow up rings and the like!
She spent a few hours on her hands and knees looking and feeling through the grass desperately hoping to find her lost ring. Realizing the futility of trying to spot it with her eyes she began thinking that maybe a metal detector would be the proper tool for the job. Her first thought was to see if there was somewhere that would rent her a metal detector for the day and after typing “Metal Detector Rental” on her phone….up popped “theringfinders.com” website and one of my stories!
Later that day I met Marybeth and she showed me the exact spot where she was standing and it only took a few swings of my Garrett AT Max metal detector and Bingo!!! What a privilege it was to help Marybeth find her lost ring!

Lost wedding ring in Ocean, St Augustine, Florida….Found!

Mellisa and her husband were enjoying a beautiful day at the beach and while walking their two large dogs the unexpected happened! As they were splashing water on the two dogs in the ankle deep surf, Ian actually felt his ring come off of his finger but he did not have any idea where it landed. All he remembered was how deep the water was and that it happened around 3:30 in the afternoon. Plus they figured they were “in front off” a certain hotel during their play time with their dogs.

When Mellisa called me and asked for my help I knew it was important to get out and search ASAP and since I already had plans for the evening I encouraged her to contact one of the members of theringfinders in the St. Augustine area. And thankfully she was able to talk to Barbara who passed her request on to a friend named Dick who enjoys helping with beach searches. Dick was able to meet Ian and Mellisa and looked for an hour and a half but did not find Ian’s lost wedding ring. The couple had to leave back to Georgia and Dick was planning to come back in a day or two to look again. And it just so happened that I got a call from someone in the Jacksonville area so I decided to stop by the beach and help Barbara and Dick look. When I arrived they were both swinging their metal detectors and had basically covered all the logical areas where Ian said they were while splashing their dogs. He had previously indicated that he was in ankle deep water just after high tide so that would have put them up on the wet sand. We spent another good 90 minutes and Dick thought maybe he would wander down towards the waters edge and detect some and BANG… he got a solid signal and was totally surprised to see a chunky man’s yellow gold ring in his scoop! Could it possibly be Ian’s lost wedding ring?!! He called me over to have a look and I was shocked how far towards the water the ring was. Come to find out the beach had a first sand bar that would have separated two places where Ian could have actually been in ankle deep water during the time he indicated–so I learned something new that day that will help me in future searches!

It was great to meet Barbara from St. Augustine and Dick who loves to metal detect and they both enjoy looking for and returning lost rings to their rightful owners! Two very wonderful people who share the same passion and hobby that I myself do!

Lost diamond engagement ring in sand, Lake Buena Vista, Fl….Found with metal detector!

Mike and his young family were spending an awesome time at one of the Disney Resorts and while enjoying one of the sandy beach areas with their two children Mike’s wife felt her diamond ring slip off of her finger! Normally one can find their ring when they know and feel it come off and it lands on a hard surface but when it drops into soft sand, well…that is another story! Mike immediately began to run his fingers through the sand thinking surely he would feel the ring and put his dear wife’s mind at ease, but again in soft, fluffy sand that can be a big problem. Gold rings have an uncanny way of just sinking further down into the sand and the more one rakes or runs their fingers through the soft sand the further the ring disappears! Engagement rings are usually very expensive and a pain to replace and loosing this ring was affecting their vacation time. Mike tried asking the resort management if there was anyone who could help and when that did not lead to the help they needed he went online and found theringfinders.com. He first called another Ring Finder named Steve Thomas who at the time was up in Texas welcoming a new grand baby to their family–so Mr. Steve gave Mike my number. After getting the proper permission I met Mike at the resort and we walked out onto the newly raked sand and Mike indicated the area where the ring was lost. I set out four corner flags and started my tight grid search. I found a few coins and some small aluminum foil pieces and of course each time I would dig and retrieve a target Mike’s hopes and adrenalin would go up! After 15 minutes I got a good solid repeatable gold signal and uncovered the lost diamond engagement ring! What an honor and privilege it was to help Mike and his family and to give them a wonderful reason to now enjoy the rest of their Florida vacation! It never gets old….helping reunite people with their lost treasures!

Lost wedding ring, Lighthouse Point Park, Ponce Inlet, Florida….Found and Returned!

Marcia called me on Saturday wanting to know if I was available to help her look for her lost rings. While she and her husband were enjoying swimming in the ocean they got to talking about getting tan lines and Marcia wanted to see if under her rings she had any tan lines. She was in waist deep water at the time and she pulled her rings only slightly down her finger to see if she had any of those dreaded “tan lines” and then the unimaginable happened. Her rings simply slid the rest of the way down her finger and into the churning surf. She could not believe what had just happened. She and her husband frantically began searching the water but her rings just seemed to vanish.
Thankfully Marcia found theringfinders.com web site and decided to give me a call. Rings lost in the water at the beach require someone to look as soon as possible, so the following day I met Marcia at the Lighthouse Point Park and she showed me the area where they were when the “unimaginable” happened! I set out four corner flags in the wet sand and two flags down the middle and started my grid search in and out of the water. The rings were dropped around three hours before high tide in waist deep water so that meant I needed to thoroughly search quite a large area. I was amazed that Marcia was able to remember where she lost her rings in the surf because after an hour of searching I pulled her wedding ring out of the sand in three feet of water. I thought for sure the engagement ring would be somewhere in the same area but I just could not find it. Come to find out the engagement ring was a thinner band and had a large 1 carat diamond set up high. Could it be that my metal detector just could not find such a thin gold ring? Or did the large diamond sticking up cause the ring to tumble around and get pushed to another location?
Three days later I went back at low tide and searched again for four more hours and still could not find Marcia’s 2nd lost ring. Thankfully Marcia was able to get her wedding ring back and that gave her plenty to be grateful for!

Lost gold necklace, Daytona Beach, Florida…..Found and Returned!

Amber sent me a text asking about The Ring Finders service and how soon I could come out and help find her lost gold necklace. Apparently she was by a lake behind her apartment sunbathing and decided to take off her necklace for fear of getting a tan line. She laid her gold necklace on the towel and soon forgot all about it. A mother duck came by with 6 little babies and Amber decided to have a closer look. She gathered up her towel and walked along the waters edge over to where the little ducks were. She spent a few minutes observing the little ducklings and then headed up to her apartment. An hour later Amber felt her neck and was stunned to realize her chain was missing. She remembered taking it off and laying it on her towel so she ran downstairs and out the door, retracing her steps all the way back to where she had taken her necklace off. The grass was thick and Amber hoped that she would be able to see her gold necklace against the green color of the grass. But it ended up being much more difficult because of the small bits of dead grass here and there that were the exact same color as her gold necklace. After searching for some time and not finding it, Amber realized she needed some help so she typed “Metal detector-lost necklace” into her phone and up popped theringfinders.com web site. The next day I was able to meet Amber and do a successful search and it was amazing how well her golden necklace blended in with the grass. It took 10 minutes of grid searching the exact area where she picked up her towel and the relief was obvious when I showed her where her lost necklace was hiding.
