Lost Platinum Wedding Band at Lake Ocoee…Found

I was contacted by Phillip on November 29 about his ring that he lost at a park on Lake Ocoee in Eastern Tennessee.  He had lost his platinum wedding band on the Saturday before while at a roadside park. He was brushing the leaves off a tablecloth when his ring came off. He felt it come off, but wasn’t sure which direction it went.  They had been married for only about two years, so they were both just a little upset.  He and his wife searched the area until well after dark to no avail. He had even gone to a local sporting goods store and bought a low cost metal detector, and went back on Sunday morning.  He quickly found out there were a lot of targets in the ground there and was quite overwhelming! After that they did a Google search and www.theringfinders.com popped up. He works for the local Volkswagen plant here and couldn’t get off until the coming weekend, so I met him there the next Saturday morning on December 4th.  The leaves are all pretty much gone from the trees now and on the ground, so I knew the ring wouldn’t have been visible to someone walking by. The picnic table was at the bottom of a steep hill and the hill by the table was covered with leaves that were nearly a foot deep.  I searched that area first and found the usual pull tabs and foil that are common at parks. There is a paved walk right next to the table, so I searched the ground next to the walk, across from the table.  Just as I was about halfway past the table I got an interesting signal.  It was obviously trash, but mixed in there was a good strong signal.  I slowed down my sweep and used the short wiggle motion to help identify the target I was hearing.  It was the low tone that I was expecting for platinum, and I was getting a consistent 12:09 on my CTX.  I brushed away the layer of leaves with my foot and immediately saw it.  Phillip was a little distance away with his metal detector and didn’t notice that I had found it. So I started taking pictures of it right where it lay. I picked it up and pretended to continue my search for a little while.  After about another ten minutes I quit searching and walked over to where he was and started asking more questions. He assumed that I hadn’t found it yet, so he was quite surprised when I held up my hand and showed him the ring!  The ring was less than a foot from the walk directly adjacent the table.  The actual search time was about twenty minutes.

Lots of hugs and crying after engagement ring is found in Allentown, PA

I received a text from Danielle saying that she lost her engagement ring while playing outside with her children during the Thanksgiving weekend. She bought a cheap metal detector and searched for several days before deciding to contact me. We had several texts back and forth before she felt comfortable having me search for her ring. She was sure someone had already found the ring and didn’t want to waste my time. I assured her that if the ring was in her yard, I would find it, as it was a very small yard and had only been missing for a week. I met Danielle and she showed me where the ring came off after she threw a toy to her children. I searched the entire area for about an hour and was only finding bottle caps and scraps of aluminum just under the surface of the grass. As Danielle watched me search, she just kept repeating, “someone found and took my ring, it’s gone”. She had lost all hope of finding it and I was losing hope as well, as I had searched most of the yard twice. When I was about to quit and return to my truck, I received a signal in the gold range but it was not very strong. I searched with my pin pointer and it hit on the ring in a small patch of higher grass. It was pushed into the soil as if someone stepped on it. Danielle had been back inside working from home when I knocked on her door. As she opened the door, I was holding her ring and she was overcome with emotion and began to cry and hug me. I was so thrilled to return her ring and see her emotions as we were sure someone had found it already. If you lost a piece of jewelry, don’t wait or try to find it with a cheap metal detector. Engagement Ring Found!

Got a text from Cara. While working at a horse ranch she lost her diamond engagement ring.  The ring had more than monetary value.  It had belonged to her fiancee’s grandmother who passed away five years ago.  She wasn’t sure where she lost the ring so we retraced the route she took while watering and feeding the horses.  This included paths and multiple paddocks, which were were a combination of mud and horse droppings.  I found out that some horses are very curious and frequently got in the way.  One apparently thought my Garrett carrot was an edible carrot.  We searched for almost two hours and were about done when I got a solid steady 11 on the Equinox.  The ring was about a half inch down in the mud and manure!

Two Rings Lost at Whangarei Beach – Found!

Had a call from Kim last night, she had lost two white gold wedding rings in the sea at Taiharuru near Whangarei Heads while swimming that morning, one of which was her husbands who had recently passed away and understandably of enormous sentimental attachment.

With the next low tide at 9am, I was fortunate in being able to arrange a later start time at work and so at 4am, I pulled out of the drive and started the two hour drive south to Whangarei to catch the tide.
I met Kims brother in law on site at 6 and he was very helpful in relating the sequence of events.
It was a massive help that someone had the presence of mind at the time to make a cairn of rocks at the high tide line, and also paced how far out Kim was…69 paces east of the cairn – Where a large rock had also been dropped.
Certainly one of the most comprehensive start points I’ve had.

I got set up and paced out from the cairn, down the beach and out into the tide – ending up right at the marker rock.

With the forethought that went into marking the location, the odds had swung hugely in our favour and I started the grid…
An industrial-grade electric fence about 150m away was sending solid pulses through the headphones every second, the novelty of this wore off extremely quickly as it forced me to double check many ‘false hits’ in case it was a ring.
Just over an hour later I got nice metal tone (in between fence pulses) and I fanned the sand away to reveal her husbands ring.

Kims ring wouldn’t be far away.

…And it wasn’t, being located about a metre or so further out.

Both rings now secured, I waded ashore as Kims brother in law phoned her to relay the good news.

It was an emotional moment in town later when I met Kim, handed her the rings and she kissed her husbands wedding ring.

Gave me warm fuzzies for the rest of the day at work.

Lost Key Fob Strathearn Neighborhood, Edmonton Alberta.

Received a call late last evening from Andria requesting my service to locate her! One and only key fob that Lawrence lost in the back yard on Thursday while walking form the garage to the house, I agreed told her I would be there at 10 am today.
Meet Andria and Lawrence they showed me the area where the key fob could possibly be I did a thorough search of the area with no luck!
Asked Lawrence to show me again exactly what he was doing and he said he closed and locked the garage door and walked along the side walk that’s when he noticed the fob was missing off his key ring both of them looked everywhere possible for that key fob no Luck.
After about an hour we found the key fob right next to the garage in the snow pile Andria was ecstatic to have her only one key fob back!  her smile says it all.

Got a call from Dan. He stated he had lost his wedding ring in his yard while doing yard work. I get his address and head out to attempt to find it and return it to him. I get to his house and he walked me through the areas he had been working in and explained that, “it may not be here, but I would at least like to rule it out”. I didn’t have high hopes of finding it at that point, but I got my settings entered into my Garrett AT MAX. I selected VDI range of 50 to 60 and block out all other VDI numbers, so I wouldn’t pick them up at all. It was a 14K ring and should be right on top of the ground.

I began scanning the front left side of his property, then moved to the front right side and towards his back yard fence. As I get about 3-4 feet from the fence, I get a solid VDI 50 and boom there it is, sitting on a leave and just under another leaf. I snapped a few photos, did a TIKTOK video and walked up to the front door with a smile on my face as I returned the ring back to Dan. He was very happy and surprised at the same time that I actually found it. Another happy customer! So glad I was able to find it and get it back to him.

LOST WEDDING RING IN DURHAM, NC….. FOUND!!!!

Story goes, she was delivering food to a sick neighbor down the road from her house. As she was getting back in the car, she waived back at them and two of her rings flew off into the landscaping. The center/heavy one stuck on a limb and the other one fell to the base of the same bush and went under the roots a little and was out of site. They tried a metal detector and looking for it with flashlights.

I started off with my metal detector. She had a duplicate ring that goes on the inside of the set that I was able to scan and use it to determine the VDI. I programed it to be in a certain range. I wasn’t getting any solid hits at first. I then got a glimmer of a hit near the base of the bush. I got down on my knees with my pin-pointer and I was picking up a signal. After a few mins, I see her ring ON EDGE! “This is why I wasn’t getting a solid hit” I quickly told her, “I GOT IT” snapped a few pics and returned the ring to her. She was extremely happy that I was able to find it. We walked back to her house to inform her husband that we had found it.

LOST WEDDING RING IN GREENSBORO, NC……. FOUND!!!

I got a call from a lady about her husbands Titanium wedding ring that he had lost in their wooded area behind their house while doing yard work. At some point while moving stuff around it slipped off and fell into the leaves. I get there and notch out certain VDI ranges and start searching for this ring.

After about 30-45 mins I get a hit and I see a shiny item in the leaves. It was great finding this ring and being able to return it to the couple.

11:15 PM I got a call from a young man whose wife lost a beautiful diamond ring at Jericho Beach while they were watching fireworks for Halloween. I could tell the panic in his voice and how much he wanted me to come out and search for it. The only problem was I was I was getting up at 5 AM to go to work and the beach is 40 minutes away from my home. After talking for five minutes I jumped in my car and headed to the beach to help them look for his wife’s diamond ring. I made it to the beach at 12:15 AM and met the young couple they show me the area where they believe the ring was lost, he told me he raced off to the store and bought a metal detector and search for it but could not find it. That’s OK because a lot of people buy or rent Metal Detector’s and don’t find their ring, the differences is I have 50 years of experience and know how to think out-of-the-box.

Well that being said after two hours of searching I could not find her ring??? I extended the search far and beyond the hot spot with no success, I asked more questions and found out later that there was a possibility when she took her gloves off at one part of the beach it may have come off then. We searched that area for a little bit but it was getting too late, I had to get home and get some sleep because I was working the next morning.

I got home shortly after 3 AM and got a couple hours asleep and went to work, I started thinking about the search and what I could do when I went back that evening. I contacted Martan and asked him if it was OK if I went back to research the area without them being there, he said absolutely!

After a 13 hour day at work with a little sleep, I headed straight out to the beach I re-searched the area with no luck then expand the search to where she believed the ring could’ve come off when she took off her gloves.  I searched there and that took almost an hour of searching with no luck!

I  went back to the hotspot and headed towards the water, this was the area that they told me the ring could not possibly be found because she was never in that area…. Guess what? you guessed! that’s where it was found. I always tell my members to think out-of-the-box we listen to our clients but we also have to listen to our hearts and our experience. I knew there was a ring there, I just had to go over to find it… I found it just before midnight and was able to meet up with them that evening and give it back. I was so excited to see that in my sand scoop! What a beautiful ring and that ring gets to go back to the young lady and that story gets to continue. I met such a lovely couple and I was so excited to be able to help them recover this beautiful ring.

RING FOUND! After a year lost in Lancaster PA

As the newly appointed Secretary for the Lancaster Research and Recovery club I spent some time reviewing our clubs Facebook page. I came across a gentleman inquiring about a lost ring. This was a very sentimental Mothers day gift from her children with each of their birthstones and I was told that another person came to look and had no luck.
The owner said that while they were gardening they shook their hands and saw and heard the ring fly off and hit the brick house. After about an hour of searching the garden, down a window well and the whole area where it was known to be lost,  I was about to call it a day.
At that point I took a step back and thought what if the ring did not hit the bricks and ricochet down but….. up….. I visualized the path that the ring could have taken… one swing over the area….. solid target in the rings tone and VDI (equinox800 13/14) range, shallow, could this be it!?

as always… I love short song the owners and asked her to come out and point to the area again…while back was turned I held up the ring waiting for that loss of breath, eyes open wide, speechless look…. And boy did I get it (never gets old).

I am so happy to be a part of this rings story back to the owner and hopefully passed down for generations. And Always think outside of the box when searching for lost things!
