Dennis contacted me wanting to know if I could retrieve his dropped cell phone from Lake Sammamish. After a quick chat we set a schedule to meet the next morning at the site. It is important to stress the importance of taking proper safety measures whenever working within any body of water with active watercraft. Proper safety protections were implemented along with on shore lookouts to ensure a safe operating environment for this sallow dive recovery. The mission’s sole objective was to recover Dennis’s fumbled cell phone from a very specific identified drop zone. This was not a long drawn out random treasure hunt. As soon as his phone was acquired from the silty lake floor the dive was concluded and the site was cleared for its typical use.

His iPhone 8 was actually located at 9′ of water. The phone was not visually located and was only recovered by the aid of an experienced under water metal detection process in very low visibility.  Dennis reported later that day that his phone actually powered up but had very little batter life after being in the lake for the past five days.

I got an emergency call from Alex last night; she had lost her car key in the beach sand. It was about 9:30 PM, and she had her children with her, and needed to be able to get home, so I let her know that I would be leaving for the search immediately.

When I got there they were waiting for me, and Alex took me out to where she believed the loss occurred. I began my search, and found numerous pieces of trash metal, and one house key, but not her car key. It was then that her children came down to beach, and showed us that we were searching about 60 feet off target. I went to where they showed me to search, and began another search. I worked it out one way with no key, and then worked out the other way, and after 2 passes, got a good shallow signal, scooped, and by 11:00 PM had her key.  Alex was very happy to be able get her children home. It was a great night!

White Gold Wedding Ring Lost in the Water at Redondo Beach…Found and Happily Returned.

Matt called the other day asking for help. He had been at the beach, and after applying sunscreen, went into the water. He was in about 3 feet of water when he felt his wedding ring come off of his finger. I checked, and let him know that to perform a thorough search, I would have to go at the next lowest tide, and let him know when I would be there. Matt sent me a Google Earth shot with a circled area to search, which was a great help.

I got to the beach and began my search, even though Matt was unable to be there. The lack of signals made it a virtual desert of things to find. I searched the wet slope first with only a bottle cap to show for it. I then went into the water, and on my first pass got a deep rotten pot metal earring. I continued in the line of the search, and got another deep signal. It took 4 or 5 scoops to get the item, when after the sand was washed out proved to be Matt’s ring. Matt was a bit camera shy (so you get me), but very happy, after I returned his ring. A fun day!

Matt sent the following testimonial:

Steve,

Thanks a million for finding my lost wedding band. I still cannot believe that you were able to locate it (buried under sand, in the water).

Please pass this message along to the folks who run the Ring Finders website, as you provide a very important service, for which I’m eternally grateful.

Sincerely,

Matt

**** Mila called me from Sunset Beach, CA. asking for assistance to find her platinum and diamond ring. The ring came off her finger as she jestured with a flick of her hand. It went directly into the dry sand disappearing immediately.

She and her friend spent an hour feeling through the sand realizing it was going to be impossible to find the small ring in the sand. They also had to a very important appointment across town in just a few hours.

Mila told me she could be at the location till I arrived. From what she told me, I assured her we could find the ring in a short time. It was just a half hour drive and a short walk to the beach. I set up my detector and within a few minutes we had the beautiful platinum diamond ring back on Mila’s finger where it belongs.

**** I had been called to double check a parking lot and planters where an earring had been lost the week before.. The odds were not favorable because it was a public area with not many places to hide an earring. At the last minute Daniel called to say he could not meet me at the location. Too much time had passed already so I decided to give it a try anyway.

While I was standing in the parking lot with a pinpointer in my hand, I was approached by a security guard named Emannuel. He asked me what I was doing. After explaining that I was searching for a lost earring. He asked me if I could find a gold ring. He said it was very special to him as it was gifted to him by his late father who had worn it for many years. I could see that Emannuel was beginning to tear up just describing how much it meant to him.

He was a little reluctant to tell me the location until I told him I was a member of TheRingFinders. I thought maybe it may have been lost at another location. It was a surprise to find out that the ring had come off his finger just the other side of the building where we were standing.  Just before Christmas, about five months ago Emannuel had been brushing rain water off the seat of his motorcycle when his gold ring flew off his finger. There were several thick bushes near the location and he had torn through them several times in an effort to find the ring. There was even an area where the rain water drained off into a culvert.

Emannuel was still working, so I began a general search with my detector. The shrubbery was very thick and I went right away to my Garrett AT pinpointer. Just probing into the base of the plants. After several pieces of tinfoil and a pull tab. I reached into examine signal from the pinpointer and my finger slipped into a ring. BINGO!! That special ring that he had described to me. Five months laying there in the thick shrubs just yards away from where Emannuel worked everyday. It must have been frustrating for him know something a special as his dad’s ring was possibly lost forever.

Needless to say the smile and the gratitude expressed by him was priceless. The original list earring was never recovered. In some situations timing is important. If Emannuel had known about theringfinders he may have saved five months of frustration. The important thing is his ring is where it belongs.

Chris Turner- Ring Recovery Specialist…Lost your ring?… Call ASAP  778-838-3463

Today I received a call from a young man who asked if I could help his wife find her lost ring at her parent’s place. After asking a couple of questions I learned that she possibly lost it while she was pulling weeds and gardening. I excepted the challenge and set out to meet the young lady at her parent’s house. When I arrived I was greeted by Jatinder and her brother and daughter, we discussed the search and headed to the backyard where there was a high probability of the ring being lost there because that’s where she did most of the yard work.

The story behind this ring was it was Jatinder’s late brothers ring and as you can imagine could never be replaced. Like I’ve always said, every ring has an amazing story attached to it and that story ends when the ring is lost, my job is to find that ring and help continue that story.

After searching the backyard we moved to the front yard where she did some light yard work, still no ring. We had discussed earlier that there was a great chance the ring could be in the green bin with all the weeds that she had thrown away and was going to be ready for pick up in a couple of days. Thankfully we did that because after dumping the green bin and searching it, I saw her beautiful diamond ring in the weeds.

It was such a relief for all of us, I was confident if I couldn’t find it today it would’ve shown up in her home as she was self quarantining for weeks and never went anywhere. I often wonder how many people don’t even know they lost their ring and it ends up in the green bin ready for pick up and lost forever.

The highlights of my day were finding the ring & her mothers home-cooked lunch/Indian food that was so amazing. We did discuss the COVID-19 and kept our distance and she assured me that her parents had not left their home for a very long time.

It was an honor to find your brothers ring for you, and thanks again for the amazing lunch and kind reward!!!

You can watch the video of the search below…I love my job!!!

High School Class Ring worn for 30 years Huntsville, Alabama…lost, but now…FOUND!

I received a voicemail and text message from Matthew on Friday, 8 May 2020.  I called him back and he told me that the day prior, he lost his very sentimental high school class ring that he’s worn every day for the past 30 years!  Matthew explained that he was doing some yard work, and he saw his ring fly off while tossing a stick over his fence and into the wood line.  He rented a metal detector and tried to find his ring, but quickly realized the detector was not top notch.  He went back on Google and came across The Ring Finders.  I told him that I would be able to come out that Sunday for a search, since I was helping a local flower shop deliver Mother’s Day orders on Friday and Saturday.

My husband, Lindell, and I went out on Sunday afternoon armed with our Equinox 800, AT Pro, and Garrett carrots (pin pointers).  We thought that the ring should be behind the fence based on Matthew’s story and test ring throw.  Matthew remembered one item flying straight and one item flying towards the right and into the woods.  The search was fairly difficult based on the amount of brush, old fence posts, and trees to detect around.  There were also a lot of signals to check from random items being discarded over the years.  We did our best to detect around everything while trying to keep a tight gridline going.  We also used our pin pointers where our detector coils wouldn’t fit.  After about 2-3 hours we had to call it quits.  Matthew thanked us, but based on my persistence, I knew I would be back out.  He lived close by in Huntsville, so the drive was fairly short.

I went back out in the morning that next Friday, 15 May 2020, so that I would have plenty of time to search.  I decided to check the yard first in case the ring didn’t make it over the fence.  No ring, so I headed back out in the woods.  I thoroughly searched around all the fence debris in case the ring bounced down in one of the gaps.  After another 2 hours, I felt confident that the ring was not in that area.  I decided to try back out in the yard.

One of the last areas I searched in the yard was where Matthew was standing when he threw the stick, which I didn’t check earlier in the day (lesson learned lol).  The grass was very short, and I thought we would’ve been able to eyeball a large gold class ring.  I checked a couple of surface targets with my pin pointer and started to see a gold outline of a ring move that was barely sticking out of the ground.  Matthew’s lost ring!!!  The ring had definitely been stepped on and was flush with the ground.  Barely visible and couldn’t be seen by just eyeballing it.  I jumped up and started celebrating!  I ripped off my gloves, tossed up my hat, and thanked the Lord!  I was so happy, relieved, and honestly shocked that the ring was right under my nose the entire time.  Matthew was probably standing on the ring when he did the test throw.  A great reminder to always think outside of the box, because rings sometimes end up where we least expect them to.

Matthew had to work that day, but his wife and daughter were in the house.  They didn’t hear me celebrating, so I calmly took the ring to the front door for the surprise reveal.  This is the best part of the job and it never gets old!  It’s hard to put their reaction into words, but I would say it’s pretty close to pure joy, happiness, and amazement!  Matthew’s wife and daughter then decided to surprise him at work.  I can only imagine his reaction.  Matthew’s ring has a 30-year story attached to it, and now that story gets to continue.

I’ve been waiting for Matthew to send a smile photo before I posted this blog, but haven’t received it yet.  I really wanted to get this posted before Memorial Day.  I should’ve had his wife or daughter take a photo while I was there.  Or I should’ve taken a selfie with the ring.  Until I receive his photo, I’ll just post one of me with a big smile and a thumbs up for another successful ring find!

Friendship Restored: Recovering Lost Rings with Expert Metal Detection in Agoura CA

  • from Santa Barbara (California, United States)
Losing a wedding ring in your yard can turn a joyful moment into a stressful ordeal, especially in areas like Agoura, Thousand Oaks, and Westlake Village, where sprawling landscapes and dense foliage are common. When Tommy called me, Dave, The Ring Finder—a proud member of www.theRingfinders.com—after his friend’s animated gesture sent a ring flying into the night, I knew time was critical. If you’ve lost a ring in your yard in Agoura, Thousand Oaks, or Westlake Village, here’s how professional ring recovery can save the day.
Tommy described the chaotic scene: a 200-square-foot planter filled with rose bushes and bark in his backyard, complicated by nearby metal objects causing interference. As a metal detection expert serving Agoura, Thousand Oaks, and Westlake Village, I arrived ready to tackle the challenge. I started with a handheld pinpointer, crawling through the thorny planter to narrow down the search. The ring wasn’t easy to find—hidden among the bushes—but I wasn’t about to give up.
Switching to my Minelab Equinox 800, I used advanced metal detection techniques to systematically sweep the area. After an hour of persistent effort, a clear tone rang out. There it was: Tommy’s friend’s wedding ring, delicately caught on a rose bush branch. But the surprises didn’t end there—my search uncovered two more rings tangled in the foliage, turning a single recovery into a triple triumph. The relief on Tommy’s face was priceless as these cherished symbols were returned.
Finding a lost ring in your yard in Agoura, Thousand Oaks, or Westlake Village requires quick action and expertise. Backyard landscapes—whether planters, lawns, or gardens—can hide jewelry under layers of soil, plants, or debris, and waiting too long risks losing it forever. That’s where I come in. As Dave, The Ring Finder, I specialize in recovering lost rings and treasures using professional metal detection services tailored to these communities.
If you’ve lost a ring in your yard in Agoura, Thousand Oaks, or Westlake Village, don’t hesitate. Contact me, Dave, at 805-290-5009 or visit www.davetheringfinder.com or www.theringfinders.com/david.mac.donald. With my skills and dedication, I’ll help you reclaim what’s most precious to you—fast. Let’s get your lost ring back where it belongs!

With the beautiful weather and the long weekend, I thought I would post a PSA. If you are looking at my page and in need of someone to help you find your lost ring or item, please immediately remove any posts you have made on social media about where you lost it. I know you mean well but unfortunately there are a lot of unscrupulous people out there that will go and try to find it that don’t have good intentions. The fact is that in all of the years I have been doing this, I have only been able to recover one expensive ring that was first shared extensively on social media. 😳. So take a deep breath and give me a call. I won’t ask you for any specific information on where your ring is until you and I are both comfortable and then I will go get it for you and put that ring back on your finger where it belongs. God bless and Happy Memorial Day!
p.s.- please share this post with your friends if you don’t mind
