Found Lost Widows Ring in Loveland, Colorado

  • from Fort Collins (Colorado, United States)

I received a text in the evening from Jae asking “Is this Greg The Ring Finder”?  I responded “Yes it is, may I call you”. I did and Jae began by saying that she had lost her sliver widows ring in her back yard. She had been playing with her dog in the snow at the time and had slipped and fallen down. When she got up she shook the snow from her hands. That is when she noticed that the ring was not on her finger. Jae stated that she and some friends that were visiting had sifted through the snow in an attempt to locate the silver ring but that they were unsuccessful. She and I agreed to meet the next day.

Upon arriving I greeted Jae and she showed me to the area in the back yard that she was standing when she noticed the ring missing. Jae was concerned that the search by she and her friends would make the ring more difficult to find.   I assured her that would not be the case.  I explained that because the ring was warm when it left her hand it should have melted it’s way down to the top of the grass and probably stayed right there.

I turned on my Minelab Equinox 800 detector, tuned and set it to the Coins and Jewelry mode. After only about six swings the detector beeped and registered a 26 on the visual display. The depth indicated about 6 inches under the coil. With my foot I moved away four inches of soft snow to reveal a layer of ice two inches thick. I was able to kick the ice and move a large chunk onto the snow. Swinging the coil over that ice indicated that the target was indeed in that piece. With my foot I broke the larger chunk of ice into four smaller parts and swung the coil over each one. The detector again beeped over the target and Jae picked it up. The ring was clearly visible on the edge of the ice. Jae and I hugged and she began to tear up saying how much the ring meant to her. She said  ” That’s amazing. I can’t believe that you found it so fast. We searched and searched and it was right there the entire time. ”

It was a great day having recovered and returned two rings to the owners!!!

*** Colleen was visiting Newport Beach from Arizona. She and her daughter spent the day near the pier where they enjoyed playing with the grandkids in the sand. After a few hours on the beach, Colleen discovered that her heirloom white gold with diamonds was no longer on her finger.

She had no idea when or where the ring slipped off her finger. She had been all over the beach in the 3 hours they had been on the beach. Her daughter had heard about the Ringfinders, so I was contacted while they were still at the location..

There was quite a few people on the beach, so I had to work around their beach blankets. I knew if the ring wasn’t found, I could stay till the beach was clear of beach goers. Coming back in the morning was not an option as the beach crew will run the sifting machines early in the morning.

The ring was recovered after an hour of grid searching the area. It actually was more the 200 ft. from their beach chairs. It was in shallow water as the tide was coming in.. Colleen was very happy and grateful to have her most sentimental heirloom diamond wedding ring back where it belongs.

Call for information or to discuss your chances for recovering you lost sentimental keepsake..

Gold Wedding Ring Found – Chapel Hill!

  • from Raleigh (North Carolina, United States)

I got a call from a nice woman in Chapel Hill (about 45 minutes away). She had been walking in a wooded park near her house when she tripped over a tree root and fell. She wasn’t injured in the fall, but a little further down the path, she noticed that her wedding ring was missing. She explained that because she had lost weight, the ring was loose on her finger, and that was probably the reason it had come off. She and a friend had looked all over the area and hadn’t found the ring – probably because the area was covered with fallen leaves.

We met at her house and she walked me to the spot where she took the tumble. Fortunately (and this is a good tip for any potential ring losers out there), she took her hair clip off and clipped it to a bush to mark the spot. Because she had done this, she was able to show me the exact root she tripped over. I turned on my detector and not only was the ring my first target, it was under my coil on my first swing. She was ecstatic to get the ring back! In our conversation on the way back to her house, I suggested that she look into getting a ring guard to help keep it on her finger. She replied that she had ordered one that morning!

Anyway, very happy to be able to get the ring back where it belonged. Another Happy Ending!

Lost Platinum Wedding Ring Found in Ft. Collins Colorado

  • from Fort Collins (Colorado, United States)

I received a call from Tim saying he had lost his gold wedding ring. He said that he was on his 2nd floor balcony and while shaking snow from his hands his ring came off. Tim said that he heard it hit the concrete floor once then did not hear it again. We arranged for me to come over the next morning to begin the recovery search. Tim said he would not be able to be there but his wife would be home.

The next morning when I arrived I was greeted by his wife Niccole who explained the situation and pointed out the likely search area. She said they had purchased a metal detector but could not find the ring because of all of the false     ” beeping and noises it was making”.  It was in a grassy area between two apartment buildings, snow covered with a lot of sprinklers and underground electrical services. After two trash targets we hit a solid repeatable signal reading 15 on the visual display and at a surface depth. Niccole had the pin pointer and in a short time had the ring in her hand and a big smile on her face. I took a picture of the ring and sent it to Tim. He called me excited that we had been successful because they both thought the ring was lost forever. We said goodbye and Niccole said that she would share The Ring Finders site with family and friends. I headed to my 2nd recovery for the day.

Wedding Ring Found in snow at CSU in Ft. Collins, Colorado

  • from Fort Collins (Colorado, United States)

I received a call from Michael saying that he had lost his gold wedding ring the day before while walking through the Colorado State University Campus in Ft. Collins, Colorado and asked if I could help. We agreed to meet the following day at 10:00 am. When I arrived a few minutes early Michael was already on site. We said hello and began to discuss the circumstances surrounding the lost ring. The weather was very cold at about 20 degrees with a foot of snow and ice on the ground on the day the ring was lost. Michael said he walks with a spring in his step and swings his arms. He stated that he felt the ring slip to the tip of his finger on the forward swing but did not get his hand closed on the back swing in time to save the ring. He had marked the spot in the snow with his boot. On the CSU student blog Michael found someone who had a metal detector that came to help with no luck. He also had a few volunteers come out with strainers to sift through the snow with no success.

After a few minutes of talking I began by turning on my detector and tuning out all the surrounding electrical interference, most of which was coming from transformers about 25 feet to the South. We hit a few signals that turned out to be trash. Not surprising since we were searching along a sidewalk on a busy street. Then we hit a target with a strong repeatable signal. My detector visual display was reading a steady 17, a good gold number, and telling me that the target was not buried but was on the surface. Michael had the pin pointer so I asked him to begin to search a 5 inch round area. The pin pointer was sounding off but we could not see the ring so I told Michael to move some of the snow, ice and leaves. He did that and the pin pointer stopped beeping. I said “well you have moved the target and that’s a good sign that it’s on top”. I relocated the target with my detector and after checking again with the pin pointer Michael exclaimed ” There it is. there it is. I thought I would never see it again”. He jumped to his feet, stepped forward and hugged me and we high 5 ‘d each other smiling like a couple of kids. He took out his phone, took a picture and sent it to his wife. We walked to my truck to stow my gear. He thanked me many times telling me how much the ring meant to him. We parted ways both sure we had a great day.

Karen called after just losing her wedding ring at the old “Muscle Beach” next to the Santa Monica pier. She was going to go on the rings, so she took her ring off so as not to lose it, but in the process, dropped it in the sand, and could not find it. I left immediately to get there for the search.

When I got there Karen was waiting for me, and took me to the area of the loss. She explained what had happened, and showed me where she was standing when she dropped it. We asked the people in the area if they would allow me to work in the area to find the ring, and they were very gracious in allowing the search. It took about 30 seconds for the recovery, because the ring was right where she thought it was, but because it was a small thin ring it moved around when they were searching for it. Needless to say she was very happy to have it back.

I was contacted by Edwin who had lost his wedding ring at the beach 2 days prior. He had been visiting from Fresno, and had already gone back home but really needed closure on his lost ring, so I asked him to give me all of the necessary directions to guide me back to the exact area he had been. A tough call, but he was able to give me pretty good information for the search.

I followed his exact guideline when I got to the beach, and began my search. Fortunately there were not any people in the area the loss occurred, but it had been 2 days! I started searching, covering a much larger area just to make up for the time element and remembrance issues. I wanted to be sure I covered every possibility. I worked the area for about 30 minutes, finding many different items, but no ring until I got a very good signal, dug, and found his ring. I immediately sent him a picture of the ring telling him of the successful search. When I got home I went directly to the Post Office, and put Edwin’s ring in the mail for him, and then sent him the tracking information. Another happy return!

10K Wedding Ring Overboard! Recovered in Port Barrington, Illinois.

  • from Rockford (Illinois, United States)

Recently I got a call from Brian. He said that he found me on theringfinders.com website and that he had lost his ring the day before. He and a friend were about to dock his boat and while they approached the peir Brian put his left hand on the edge of the boat to reach for the dock with his right hand. As he did that his wedding ring slide off of his finger and into about 4 1/2 feet of water. They spend about an hour wading around in the water with a pool skimmer in hopes of scooping it up without any luck. So we set up a time for the following day to meet up. We met up the next day and he showed me which pier he was at and about where he thought that it was. So I grabbed my gear and headed for that area. And right where he was pointing I got a rock solid 12 VDI on the Nox. For whatever reason it took me a while to scoop up the signal. Brian asked if I wanted to skip it and look more to my left. I told him I shouldn’t give up on this signal because it was the perfect gold numbers. Finally after what seemed like forever I got the signal in the scoop! When I picked the scoop up from the water I gave it a couple of shakes and sitting in the bottom of the basket was Brian’s white gold wedding band!! Success!!

Another smile for the book!!

I got a call from a young man who had lost his phone. He was on a small bridge over a section of a river near his house, when while taking pictures, he dropped the phone in the water. I asked how long it had been since the loss, and he told me a week. My heart dropped when he told me the amount of time that had gone by, but he assured me that the phone should still be there, so I drove out to meet him.

When I got there we walked out to the spot where the loss occurred, and he explained what happened. He also told me that he had done his own searches during that week to no avail. I looked into the water, and the deepest area was no more than 4 feet deep with a sandy bottom, and I was having a hard time figuring out why he wasn’t able to find it; it should have just been laying there! Well I got ready, and stepped into the water, and as soon as my foot hit bottom I understood why it disappeared, there was 8 inches of silt that looked like sand. The bottom was real clean of metal trash, and then under the bridge I received a real good signal, put my scoop in, and up came a beer can. I searched again, and in the same area another good signal, this time it was his phone. It was still there after a week, and still working; amazing. Made his day!
