I received a text from Val asking if I could help him find his lost ring. He said he lost it when he slipped of the ladder while cleaning the gutters. I made a plan to swing by the following morning. His wife showed me where he was. I looked around for not even 20 minutes and found it a foot off where the ladder was. They both couldn’t believe I found it. This is my second ring from the ring finders website.
Bob is an avid surfer. His family was spending time at a Topsail Beach, NC beach house. Beach chairs were set up just below the home and Bob decided to take the paddle board out in the surf. He removed his wedding band (one day before his anniversary) and placed it in the beach chair pocket. Before Bob returned, his son started to gather up the chairs and umbrella from the beach. He wasn’t aware his fathers ring was in one of the chairs. When they realized what happened a search began and Bob’s daughter-in-law found my service and called for help. She stated they had to be out of the rental by 10am the next day. I loaded my gear and started my 60 mile drive. It was dark when I arrived and Bob’s family was very smart to mark the location of where the umbrella was placed and told me all chairs where North of that spot. After a few passes I received a very loud signal. I dropped to a knee and my pinpointer sang out the location of Bob’s ring. Since it was dark during the recovery, we took photographs on the rental house back porch. I remember Bob saying “It took you longer to grab your gear than it did to find the ring”
Christine was helping her dad pull a boat into the slip. With her keys in hand, the task of maneuvering the boat dislodged the keys from her grip. I took my gopro to the recovery. I hope you enjoy the video

On Father’s Day, my wife Myrna and I were planning to go to her cousin’s home, in DeLand, for a family dinner. She was getting ready, while I was tending to my pulled calf muscle; injured not-so gracefully entering the pool in a typical, “this is how we use to do cannon balls,” splash.
Just then, I got a text from Abbey. She said that she was at Ponce Inlet, (just south of Daytona Beach) and had lost her diamond engagement ring in the sand. I knew that this recovery could be challenging if I had to walk much, but I was determined.
When I got to the beach, I met Abbey and her husband Tyler, and their baby boy Banks. They had sectioned off a large square of sand where they had found the wedding ring but not the engagement ring. I could also see lots of hand, finger and scraping marks from their search. I assured them that if the ring was there, I would find it.
I fired up the Minelab Manticore and began the search. I got a faint hit outside of the area but continued to the large square and began scanning. No targets. I asked them if it could be anywhere else or in the water and they replied, no. I went back to the initial hit. It was stronger. As I dug through the sand, deeper than expected, the sunlight hit the diamonds of the gorgeous ring.

This ring find began when I got a call from Mark who is visiting Waikiki from Houston, Texas. Before going in the water at Kuhio Beach he placed his Tungsten Wedding Ring in his shoe for safekeeping. When he exited the water and in a momentary lapse of reason he grab his shoes to put back on and the ring flew out and disappeared into the sand. He realized it would be hopeless as he didn’t really notice which way the ring went. He reached out to me and I was able to leave immediately. I arrived and parked in short order then went to meet Mark at McDonalds which was across from the loss area. Mark drew a grid in the sand for me but no ring was found. I asked some tourists if they could move to the area I just scanned and of course they did knowing the situation. I restarted the search and my first target previously under a beach mat happened to be Mark’s ring. He mentioned his 10th Anniversary was fast approaching and he didn’t want to have to tell his wife he lost his wedding ring. All ends well no dog house for Mark. Aloha to Mark!
People dont realize the emotional attachment that sometimes goes with rings. This man was physically upset that his wedding ring of 33 years had been lost. He was doing yard work and did not realize it was missing until after a lot of work had been done. It could be anywhere in the backyard!After a long search I emptied flower pots out he had been working in and detected the dirt. Very lucky to recover this one. He kissed the ring when I found it!

Rich called me and explained that he had his wife’s necklace on his lap when they decided to pack up from the beach and go home. It wasn’t until they got home when he realized the necklace was missing.
I met him at the beach and he showed me the area they were sitting. On my second pass with my metal detector I received a good tone and the rest is history, the gold necklace came up with a gentle nudge from my foot.

A couple years ago, I got a call from a guy who’s wedding ring was lost. He, his wife and daughter, who was a toddler, were out doing things in their back yard. His daughter asked if she could wear his ring, and being a bit of a softy, he let her have it for a few minutes. He got distracted, and they all went up the hill to see their newly planted fruit trees, and lost track of time. On the way back down the hill they realized that she no longer had his ring. The grass was a little too deep to find it.
So, I went to their house, they explained that it could potentially be anywhere. The grass was very deep everywhere except part of the back lawn and the sandbox area. The ground was just loaded with signals, their neighbors told them that their entire property had been a private farm’s junkyard. All the broken down cars, trucks and farm equipment had been removed, so it looks nice, but it was going to be a real test of patience to find a little ring there. Patience is a requirement to belong to The Ring Finders!!
No luck that day. I went back a couple more times last year, as they cleared grass from different areas. Still no luck. I knew this one could take time.
They had a lot more mowing done, so I went to try it again today. When I got there, there was a new back door and a long wooden ramp to it. I got a real shock when his wife came to the door and said he had been in a serious accident and is now in a wheelchair. A young, healthy dad, on his way to work last Winter, was hit head on by a huge utility truck.
I started the search. After hearing hundreds of signals and digging dozens of targets, one being a horseshoe, I dug down with my finger expecting it to be just another piece if shreaded aluminum can or another car part, but it was something very smooth!! There it was, his shiny ring with roots growing through it!
He and his wife were in shock, they thought it was gone forever! I love these moments, a really good feeling to see it back on his hand. I sure hope he walks again someday. They also have a new addition to the family, a little boy!

Shortly before noon on June 15th, Demie called me asking if I could help find her Platinum Wedding Band at Wrightsville Beach. I told her it’d take me about an hour and a half to come up and I’d call the Ring Finder that covers Wrightsville and would call her back. I called John Finnerin and he said he wouldn’t be able to go. I text Demie back, told her I was on my way and gave her my ETA. A little bit later Demie sent me a pin drop with an address, so I knew exactly where to go. When I was close, I sent her a text saying I was about 15 minutes out. This time of year, tourist and locals swarm the beaches especially with the daily temperatures in the high 80s, and this day was no different. When I was on scene, I text her saying, “I’m here, looking for parking.” After making a couple of laps around the streets, I called her and asked if her husband was with her, she replied he was. I asked if he could come out and drive my car around while I looked for her ring. She quickly agreed and said he is on his way, describing what he was wearing. After Nathan and I switched off I headed out on the beach.
As I walked out, I saw Demie waving to me. We met up where they had been sitting and she showed me where the ring had to be. The area was maybe 2’X2’. She said she had taken her ring off to apply sunscreen and was holding the ring in her teeth. Her husband, Nathan had knocked over a chair and when she turned to see what happened the ring flew out of her mouth. I turned my Nox 800 on, and made a couple passes over the area. With a lady’s platinum ring, I knew I was looking for a VDI (visual display indicator) in the single to low double digit numbers. Sure enough, 2nd swing, and I got a solid 8 VDI. Scraped a couple of layers of sand into the scoop with my foot, shook the sand out of the scoop and bingo! When I went to hand Demie her ring, I dropped it back in the sand and it quickly disappeared. I saw where it landed, found it again and this time handed it back to her. She was all smiles and almost lost a tear but held it. Got a big hug and was on my way out to find Nathan and my car.
