Wedding Set Recovered in Long Branch by Dennis Burlingame

Got a call from fellow Ring Finder Matty St Germain asking if I could go to Long Branch for a recovery. He gave me the number to Andrew who was on the beach for Labor Day with his family, and mom and dad. Seems his mom after getting settled in took off her rings to put lotion on and placed them on her lap and got distracted. Went to move her chair then remembered her rings but it was to late. 3 rings totaled but they could only find 1 sifting through the sand with their hands. He was on his way to get a rake to see if that would help when they found Matty on Ring Finders and called out to him. He couldn’t make it so he called me. Andrew’s father met me and took me down to the beach where they were sitting and showed me where mom was sitting and where they found the first ring. I checked from the chair out to the area they found the first ring and within a foot of where that one was I found the other two. Please excuse the photos, in a rush I left on phone in my car and had to have the dad take the pictures for me. All in all a Happy Ending for all and they can go and enjoy the rest of the holiday.

*** Shone was given a unique gold ring that her mother had worn for more than 27 years. While visiting friends on the Strand at Manhattan Beach, CA. , Shone lost her ring in the sand while playing with a volleyball.  She was devastated because it was a ring that had been promised to her for years. To make it worse, she had only worn it for four days before losing it.

One of the members of her family located me by using the internet. I drove to the location, where they met me. They showed me a 40’x 40ft  area they believed the ring to be. Halfway through the grid search I got that sweet tone of a gold ring in my headphones. One scoop revealed Shane’s gold ring. There were plenty of onlookers to celebrate the successful recovery. It was a pleasure to be available to help find this very special ring for Shone. I love doing what I do and making smiles.

Lady’s White Gold Engagement Ring Lost in the Ocean – Found and Returned Myrtle Beach SC

I was in the middle of getting the yard work finished when I received a call from Symone saying she had lost her ring in the ocean at Myrtle Beach. I wanted to confirm she was in Myrtle Beach and not North Myrtle Beach. She confirmed Myrtle Beach but then wasn’t sure exactly where in Myrtle Beach they were. Her and her fiancé, Eze had come from Atlanta, GA to Myrtle Beach to pick up a new puppy. After picking up the puppy they decided to hit the beach for a little R&R. So, they really didn’t know what street they were off of. Eze found the name of the hotel they were in front of, and I knew they were in Matt Fry’s area. I told her I’d call Matt and one of us would call her back within 5 minutes. I tried calling Matt and couldn’t get a hold of him, so I called Symone back and told her I’d be there in 35-40 minutes.

When I got to the beach I called Symone and told her I was walking out on the beach. She met me and pointed out the area where they had been sitting. She told me she had walked straight out from there to about waist deep water. She lost her ring a little over an hour after high tide and with the outgoing tide I thought there’d be a good chance of finding it. The problem was, it was mid afternoon with an east wind that was blowing some big waves towards the beach. I grabbed my White’s PI and started trying to do a perpendicular grid search from shore to water. My first signal was solid, but the waves kept pushing me off the target. I paced off steps to the beach and waited for the tide to go down a little bit more. When I told her what was going on, she told me that she was going back to the car and relieve Eze from the puppy watch. Eze came down to the tide line as I was coming back from retrieving the bottle cap that gave me the original signal. I talked to Eze and got his side of the story. He said that when Symone lost her ring, and was frantically waving her arms, she was more to the right of where she had me. I switched detectors to my Equinox 800 and kept the grid search, but started working to the right of the center line. On my third line I got a banging signal with a VDI of 11-12. With the waves still pushing me around, I finally got the target in the scoop. As I shook the sand out of the scoop and looked in, I saw her beautiful ring underneath a few shells. As I’m walking out of the water, I called Eze over and asked what her ring looked like. As he’s explaining her ring, I held it up and he got real excited and said it looks just like that. I told him, let’s surprise Symone. I gave him my IPhone, set for video and we made our way back to the parking lot. The video says it all.

I received a call from Carolyn requesting my service to locate her earing lost in her back yard! Carolyn was kneeling on the lawn when her dog jumped up and tried to chew her ear.  He tugged on the earring and took off with it.

I met Carolyn this morning and she showed me the area.   Thankfully Carolyn had left every thing the way it was when it happened which made my search easer.  After tweaking my V3i to her other earring I began my search.  After about an hour of searching I found her earring.  I called Carolyn over to  show her how well covered with grass her earing was.   She was very happy to have her earring back!

Kevin called me yesterday afternoon requesting my assistance to locate his wedding ring which he had lost two weeks ago while gardening in his back yard.  After asking Kevin a few questions I agreed to meet with him in an hour.  His yard is huge! After a three hour search I called it quits for the evening but I assured Kevin if the ring was in the area I would find it for him! I told him that I would return the next day to continue the search and in the mean time to relax. I knew that was a hard thing for him to do as so far 2020 had been a disappointing year for him.

When I met up with Kevin the following afternoon I told him I was armed and had my “top guns” with me! I assured him that I was going to find his ring.  I retraced my steps once again where I thought the most likely place the ring could be but unfortunately I had no luck.  I kept looking in his compost pile as something told me it might be there but had no luck.  I kept asking Kevin questions trying to jog his memory.

My questions did trigger Kevin’s memory!  He had brought his wheel barrow and dumped his rose bush and other garden material in a pile at another location.   I searched the area and Bingo,  I heard  a very sweet tone and knew that was his ring!  I told Kevin that it was his lucky day.   At the bottom of the pile was his lost ring!  Kevin could not believe his eyes when I showed him his ring and was so happy to have his ring back.  It pays to keep  asking questions all the time even if  you have asked before. You keep asking as sometimes it jogs a distant memory,  just keep asking!

As Rick Browne (Ring Finder) and I were about to walk down on the beach, I got a call from Charles out of  Cape Cod, saying he didn’t want to call so early 6:30 am, but was in dire straights after losing his wedding band yesterday evening on the beach. I e-mailed him with my cell number ASAP. He then called, and I told him I would be there in less than two hours, to bare with us, as we were out on a beach searching for another ring at the moment. After finding and returning the first ring of the morning, Rick and I were off to meet Charles. He mentioned that there were quite a few people helping yesterday to find his Platinum Band to no avail… as we all walked down to the beach he had already marked off an area with beach chairs, but reminded us that he wasn’t sure if it was even there. It might be in the water too… Well first past got myself a dime… and second pass I asked Charles to come over here for a moment and to look into my scoop, and did the ring I just scooped up looked familiar ? He couldn’t believe it was there staring back at him… Less than 3 minutes into it, and a happy reunion… He later told us on the way back that its his Anniversary in Dec. and that the ring is under a year old… P.S. Rick Browne from the Ring Finders gave me a call late last night, and asked if I wanted to jump in on a ring find that was lost earlier in the day. Of course I said, what time, where, and can we go rite now? He laughed, and said let’s do it very early in the morning before the crowd shows up. I agreed… So in the early morning darkness, I was off and got to his house before he even opened up his garage door. Loaded up and off we went. When we got to the beach, Jay had not showed up there yet.  As we hung for a few minutes, Rick said lets go and see if we can get it before he gets here… We marked out the area that Jay had drawn out on the mapped area, where he new it flew from his finger when playing football the day before… Rick started to grid one way, and I the other… I literally took two swings and got a signal, stopped, and dug the ring… I looked over to Rick and said OK lets go… He laughed and said what a team… Ring in scoop and plenty of time to play till Jay and his daughter showed up… Rick met up with him before myself and gave him the great news… It’s so rewarding to hand back an item thought to be lost forever… P.S. Get that ring sized…    LOL

… Daisy and Brandon were at Huntington Beach, CA. enjoying the day on the beach when their day was disrupted by the loss of her diamond engagement ring. She didn’t feel it come off her finger but they were both sure that the ring was in the sand

Brandon was advised by someone on the beach about TheRingFinders metal detectin service. He located me by using his smart phone to get my contact information. I live less than 7 miles from where they at on the beach. I grabbed my equipment and was able to meet them at the location. 

We love these type searches because they were able to stay on the beach where they had been all day. Once someone leaves the probable area of the loss, it may take longer to find where they had been than it actually takes to find the ring with a metal detector.

I set up my detector beginning my grid search and within a few minutes the beautiful white gold with a sparkling diamond was in the scoop.

Both Daisy and Brandon were grateful telling me they had no idea this service existed. They thanked me but I told them they really should give thanks to the bystanders that recommended they call a member of TheRingFinders.

Wedding toe ring found at North Beach Provincial park

I was contacted by Ambi today to do a Special recovery for a wedding toe ring at North Beach Provincial Park. This was a first for me as I’ve never been asked to look for a toe ring before. Although this ring is small and made of silver, it has a huge sentimental value since Ambi placed the ring on her toe on their wedding day over 19 years ago. Yesterday, was their 19th wedding anniversary. Needless to say, I wasn’t going to stop until I found it for them. After about 20 minutes, the ring was found very near where she had felt it come off in the sand. I always love folk’s reaction, especially the ladies, when you first show them the lost item and then reunite them with it. As well, I learned something new today.

They are tamil. In a Hindu wedding, toe ring is also given by the husband to the wife. Toe rings worn by a woman signify that she is married. In many different Indian cultures, the husband puts the toe rings on the second toe of both of the wife’s feet during the wedding ceremony. It is worn as a symbol of the married state by Hindu women.

John called me about his wedding ring that he had lost at the beach the day before. We talked, and I let him know that the county cleans this beach usually daily, and that if they had, the possibility of a recovery was going to be diminished. He wasn’t sure exactly where on the beach the ring was lost, because he had taken it off and put it in the pocket of his chair so he could go in the water, and it wasn’t until he had packed up everything and left the sand that he remembered the ring was gone. He gave me the area (he was not going to be able to be there to meet me), and I let him know that I would do the search as soon as I could get to the beach.

When I got to the beach, I looked out over the sand, and my hope was lifted. It looked like the cleaning machines had gone over only the towel line at the high tide line. I began my search going all the way into the wet sand to make sure the ring had not fallen off in that area. I was not able to find it in the slope area, so I moved my search closer towards the bike path, and after one pass in the grid, I got a great signal, dug and had a chunky gold ring in the scoop. I took a picture of it and sent it to John, who when he saw it said, “That’s it! Holy cow.” We were able to meet a short while later in order to make the return, and John was very grateful. It was nice to make his day!
