Lost Wedding Band Found Ocean City NJ by Ring Finders South Jersey John Favano

  • from North Wildwood (New Jersey, United States)

Just a day before, Rhett and Meredith were married. Family members from different corners of the country gathered to witness their beautiful ceremony. The day after the wedding, they decided to visit Ocean City, NJ, where some relatives and friends were staying in order to spend quality time with them. Both Rhett and Meredith wore distinctive wedding bands – Rhett wore his late father’s wedding band that was hand-made by his mother.

While playing in the ocean with his nieces and nephews, Rhett suddenly realized that his wedding ring had slipped off his finger and vanished beneath the waves. Distressed, he called me later that night, and we decided to meet at the beach the next day around low-tide in hopes of finding the lost ring. I gathered more details about where the ring might be and initiated my search. I started in waist-deep water and worked my way toward the shoreline. In just about ankle-deep water, the metal detector let out a sharp sound. I scooped up a handful of sand and there it was, the family heirloom! Recovered!

Rhett was overjoyed and relieved as he gave me a hug. The ring held immeasurable sentimental value for him. It will now be able to be honored and cherished for years to come.

Lost White Gold & Diamonds Wedding Ring at Queen’s Beach Waikiki…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a text from Ariana who was visiting from San Francisco, California celebrating her graduation.  The text said, “Hello!  Please help, I lost my wedding ring in the water at Waikiki.”  There was a map of Queen’s Beach attached.  I called her immediately and said I could be there in about 15 minutes.  She was five minutes away at her hotel and agreed to go back to the beach to show me where to hunt.  We met at the Surfer statue and she told me she had put her wedding ring on a necklace to keep from losing it and as she was coming to shore a wave hit her and when she got up her necklace was broke and the ring was gone.  The surf report was a bit off as waves were crashing into and up onto the shoreline.  I was not looking forward to this hunt!  As I entered the water a wave crashed into me and threw me back.  After regaining my posture I got a break in the swell and moved into the water.  I got an immediate #16 on the Nox and in one scoop there was Ariana’s White Gold & Diamond ring in the scoop.  I could not believe the blessing I just received.  I yelled to shore, “I got it!” and looks of bewilderment greeted me as I climbed up the shore slope.  Ariana looked into the scoop with disbelief and said,  “OMG that’s it!”  Many tourists thanked me for what I do.  No, Thank you! Elapsed time from water entry less then 1 minute.  So relieved I didn’t have to get plowed by the surf during a hunt.  Especially when Ariana really wasn’t sure when the ring had come off.  Ariana and Loren fly back to San Fran tomorrow and taking everything with them.  Aloha to Ariana & Loren!

Bay Area Ring Finders: Brendon Chapman… Metal Detecting Service/Call ASAP     925-580-2590

On August 20th, Samantha sent me a kind message requesting help with a ring that was lost. The project, would be to search some thick bushes in the front yard of a home in Pleasanton, CA.  I informed her that I’d be glad to help, but that the next day I would be celebrating my son and metal detecting buddies 4th birthday.  The search would have to take place on Tuesday mid-afternoon.  This was agreeable with Samantha.

On Monday, I was able to drive by the home to assess the gravity of the project.  What I saw was a seemingly endless sea of juniper mixed with rosemary bushes.  The probability of detection (POD) for this search was not going to be good.

An endless sea of juniper and rosemary bushes to search.

When Tuesday arrived, I readied my gear for the search effort and headed to the site.  It was a beautiful warm day and I was feeling good.  Talking with the neighbors was a bit of a revelation. Although I was requested to specifically search the bushes, I was informed that searches had already taken place of the landscaping and lawn next door…with a metal detector. Another new piece of the puzzle was that there was a sound of the ring hitting concrete the night it went missing.

I spent a good 45 minutes performing a difficult search of the brush, as that was what I was hired to do. As I worked, I kept thinking about the new information I had learned from the neighbors as well as from one of Samantha’s friends who stopped to talk to me about the lost ring.  I decided to have a look for myself over the area that had previously been searched while I pieced together the information I had.  I used a Garrett pin pointer around the base of some of the foliage and that’s when “We made the Recovery!!!”

Can you spot the ring in this photo?

In the end, I spent an hour and a half searching.  I was extremely relieved to not be wading through the brush.  It really would have been a humongous undertaking searching that area and even after searching, I don’t think I would have been confident it was sans engagement ring. As always, I was very much appreciative of everyone who contributed details and information that led to a successful ring recovery for Samantha.  The tears of joy I heard when I let her know the sapphire and diamond engagement ring was secured told me that it meant a whole lot to her.  Thank you Samantha for taking me on this journey with you and allowing me to be firmly embedded in the wild story this ring will tell.  Best wishes for your future!!!

Lost Gold Heirloom Wedding Band at Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon Waikiki…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began yesterday when I got a text from Malia who lives in Honolulu.  While enjoying the cool water of the Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon at Hilton Hawaiian Village her precious Yellow Gold Heirloom ring fell off in waist deep water and disappeared.  Her Grandmother had given it to her and it meant the world to her.  They tried snorkeling for the ring but it was well hidden in the soft sand.  She sent me a pic of the approximate location and example of the ring.  I told her I was getting off work soon and would grab my gear and head over to the lagoon and hunt immediately.  Always a concern in Waikiki that another of the myriad of detectorists that hunt there would find it.  When I arrived parking was easy and I was able to get to the spot quickly.  Experience made me start my grid search way to the left of the red “X” Malia had put on the map.  That way I cover it all and the lagoon was fairly free of traffic and the water crystal clear even at midday.  I started finding targets I knew another detectorist would pick up so I was confident we would find the ring.  Malia had said the ring should be about 15 feet from shore in waist deep water and that wasn’t the case until I got well into the search across from the pool entrance.  Then “Boom” nice loud 13-14 on the Nox and in one scoop there was the precious Heirloom Gold Wedding Ring in the scoop.  I immediately cleaned up and texted Malia a pic.  “That’s it!!!!!” she texted back along with “Thank you so much Happy Face”.  We met at Kahala Mall this evening for the return and more Thank yous and a hug!  Always great to help local people!  Aloha to Malia!

A Fortunate Encounter and Ring Return, Woodneck Beach, Falmouth, Massachusetts

As I was carrying my metal-detecting gear to search the beach for Rory’s husband’s wedding ring yesterday (my primary mission) I had a chance encounter with Brendan, who was just leaving.  He half-jokingly asked that if I found it, would I return the wedding ring that he’d lost there two weeks previously.  Well, here was another great opportunity to help someone overcome an unfortunate circumstance and to build on The Ring Finders story, so I asked him to walk with me to where he’d lost his ring and give me the details.  I gleaned all the necessary information, told Brendan that I’d look for his ring at first opportunity, and asked him to leave contact information on my phone so that I could reach him if I was successful.  It turned out that after he left, my primary search (for Rory’s husband’s ring) was successful within a short time, so after Rory and I celebrated that find and return, I continued on to the area of Brendan’s ring loss hoping that I could score a second success for the day.  Some might say that it was the doing of St. Anthony, but in any case Brendan’s ring slid under my detector coil and propelled itself into my scoop within about 45 minutes.  Yay!  It’s not often that a detecting day offers up a double!

I made call to Brendan to let him know I’d found his ring and we set up a reunion meeting for today at the beach, where I returned the ring.  Brendan’s smile in the picture tells the rest of the story.  I’m pleased as can be that our chance encounter led to a happy ending!

Men’s Wedding Ring Found for Owner, Woodneck Beach, Falmouth, Massachsetts

Rory’s post on Facebook alerted me to the fact that her husband had lost his wedding band at the beach two days prior.  I contacted her and we set up a time to meet just before low tide, similar to the situation when the ring was lost.  It was a beautiful afternoon when we arrived at the beach, and it didn’t take long to go through the details of the ring characteristics, circumstances of the loss, and location.  Rory had a very good description of where the ring was likely to be found, probably in knee-deep water, and I set to work on a search pattern.  It took only about twenty minutes before I had a rich booming signal that was certain to be a ring, and it took only a few moments to dig the target and pluck from my scoop a nice wedding band which was uniquely identifiable as the lost ring according to the inscription inside.  Rory’s surprise and joy when I walked up to her and held out the ring were enough to keep us both smiling for a month of Sundays!  Thank you, Rory, for the opportunity to search for and recover this precious item for you and your husband.

2 lost rings in Orange Beach – Found!!!

  • from Orange Beach (Alabama, United States)

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting Jordan for the first time after finding her beautiful canary diamond engagement ring and her diamond wedding band a month ago in Orange Beach. I usually have lots to say but I think in this case, I will let Jordan’s comments speak for themselves. Great advice!  Im so happy that I could help. 😃👍💍

“Ben and I had a much needed weekend getaway! The main reason for our weekend trip though was to get my wedding rings back. About a month ago, we went to the beach with our family and friends. While I was in the ocean throwing the football with Ben, the football hit my left hand and my engagement ring and wedding band went flying through the air into the ocean. We looked for it forever. We had even random people from the beach trying to help us find it, but no luck. I had seen where someone with an underwater metal detector had found someone’s engagement ring in the water so I went back to where I had lost it and saved my coordinates hoping I could find someone with an underwater metal detector. One of our friends had sent us a website called the https://theringfinders.com. That’s where I contacted Dave. He went out there 4 days after I had lost my rings and didn’t find just one ring, but both! I was so excited and Ben was in disbelief because he said there wasn’t anyway that guy was going to be able to find it 😂.  So if you are ever in my situation, save your coordinates and contact Pensacola Ring Finders”

Yellow Gold Wedding Band and Engagement Ring Lost on the Beach, Found and Returned Carolina Beach NC

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

This adventure started out with a text message at 10:28 am on Saturday, August 19th. The text read, “Hi! My name is Samantha. I saw you on ring finders and was wondering if you’d be interested in a hunt on Carolina Beach? Or could you put me in touch with someone if I’m out of your range? I lost my wedding rings sitting on the beach yesterday. I would appreciate any help or advice!” The text included her number, so I called for more details. When we talked, we agreed we’d meet in a particular parking lot at 3 pm. I had already made arrangements to meet another lady on a different beach for a separate search at 12:30. I was finished with that search in time to drive the hour plus to Carolina Beach and meet Samantha on time.

As we’re walking the block to the beach, I learned there were actually 3 rings missing. She had lost her wedding band, her engagement ring, and a gold ring her parents had given her. Samantha said that she was in town to attend a bachelorette party. She had come a day early to enjoy a peaceful day on the beach reading her book. Once she had her chair in place, she took her 3 rings off and put in the cup holder to apply sunscreen. She had moved her chair once during the day. When she was ready to go, she folded the chair up and walked to the water’s edge to rinse the sand off the chair legs. When she got back to the car and looked at her hand, the shock set in. She immediately returned to where she was sitting and did a visual search and then did a pin drop on her phone for the location. When we got to the beach she walked us through the Saturday afternoon crowd to the spot of the pin drop. Surprisingly, there was only one guy sitting in the way. I turned my Equinox 800 on and started a perpendicular grid search from the dry sand to the incoming tide line. Within a grid line or two, I hit a 10 on the VDI (visual display indicator), a great number for a small yellow gold ring. I dug a scoop of sand out, checked the hole and had the target in the scoop. I dumped the sand on the beach and ran the coil over it and hit the target. I got down on my hands and knees and spread the sand out until I saw the ring. When I first showed it to Samantha, she didn’t think it was hers until she got a closer look and exclaimed (loudly) “that’s my wedding band.” She was so excited; I almost saw a tear, but she held it back. Ok, 1 ring down 2 to go. I showed her the hole and asked her if that was where she had been sitting. She replied that’s about where she was when she washed the chair legs off. I started the grid again from the hole, which had now filled in from the incoming tide. A few more steps and about ankle deep in water, I got another hit showing 10 on the VDI. I dug the target out and carefully washed the excess sand out at the water’s edge. I saw the engagement ring in the bottom of the scoop and walked over to Samantha and let her reach in the scoop and pull her ring out. That put her over the top with excitement, still no tears through, she was really trying hard not to cry. I continued the search for the 3rd ring for another 20 minutes or so and Samantha said she had to go. I told her when I found it I’ll call her and we’d work something out to get it back to her. I searched for another 30 minutes doing a complete search then did a cross grid and wasn’t able to find her 3rd ring. By this time the tide had come in enough that the water was covering my tracks. Although disappointed I couldn’t find the 3rd ring, Samantha was overjoyed she had her wedding and engagement rings back.

Samantha – Thank you for letting me help find your lost rings. So excited you got them back.

Jim
