Lost White Gold & Diamonds Engagement Ring at Shorebird Beach Waikiki…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a voicemail from Raquel who was on vacation from Atlanta, Georgia with her husband Bill.  While sitting in shallow water at Shorebird Beach Waikiki her White Gold & Diamonds Engagement ring fell off and disappeared in the shore break sand.  They and several others hunted with mask & snorkel for over two hours and couldn’t find the ring.  Raquel “Googled” water metal detecting services and that’s how she found my number.  My work day was nearly over so I called her and said I’d have my wife drop me off at the nearby Army Museum and hunt for her ring.  Thankfully traffic was still light and I was able to get there in about 30 minutes after picking up my detecting gear.  When I arrived Bill & Raquel showed me the area of concern and Bill even stood in the water as a marker so I could keep position as I hunted around beachgoers as the tide and surf was coming up too.  I went out to the deep side of the grid and searched toward shore.  There were a few targets but not the ring.  Raquel assured me she was in very shallow water so I guessed the ring could have been pushed up the shoreline by a swell.  Sure enough as I started gridding the wet sand I got a loud #9 on the Nox and in one scoop I had the target.  Anyone that has hunted this beach knows how coarse and lumpy the sand is so I dumped my scoop in the higher up wet sand and as I glanced down there was Raquel’s stunning ring glistening in the sand.  I bent down picked it up and exclaimed,  “Got it”!  Raquel was so relieved I could see a few tears welling up in her eyes.  We hugged as I handed her back her ring.  Oh the joy of a recovery!  Aloha to Raquel & Bill!

Brant Beach (LBI) NJ Wedding Band lost for 2 months recovered by Edward Trapper NJ Ring Finder August 2022

  • from Lavallette (New Jersey, United States)
Valentina called yesterday after I was tagged on her post about her beautiful wedding ring that was lost in Beach Haven N.J (LBI) almost 2 months ago, on July 4th. We talked for a while, and determined that where it was lost there was a good chance it could still be there. She wasn’t positive the ring was on the beach, but sure did know where her towel was, which is a good starting point for my search. We decided to begin early today before swimmers arrived. About 30 minutes later my machine gave a REAL nice solid tone, and sure enough, the ring was in the scoop. The ring will be reunited soon with Val as she is about 2 hours away.#njringfinder, #lostring,#lostcross,#lavallettenj,#ortleybeachnj,#lostringLBI,#lostringholgatenj,#lostringsurfcitynj

Another Busy Sunday Afternoon!

  • from Pacifica (California, United States)

For reasons that are probably easy to figure out, the weekends can be very busy for Ring Finders like us. This past Sunday was no exception for me. I received two calls within 5 minutes of each other. I had someone working on my house and it was almost dinner time so I sent the first caller to my buddy Brendon. When the second call came in, knowing Brendon would already be on the first call, I asked the woman if I could call her back. I checked with my contractor, and my wife, and decided I could probably make it out to find the second caller’s ring.

Forty minutes later I found myself at Baker Beach once again!
I swear, the sand there just SUCKS rings in like quicksand.

I met these clients on the beach after parking my car. I reviewed with them what they were doing when they lost it and where they thought it might have gone. Within a few short minutes, I had found the ring!

If only all of our ring finds were this easy and quick!

Brant Beach(LBI) NJ Lost Cartier Bangle Bracelet recovered by Edward Trapper NJ Ring Finder August 2022

  • from Lavallette (New Jersey, United States)
Got a call from Camille Saturday evening. She had lost her bangle bracelet, but wasn’t sure where. She did have a picture from the night before, which was taken on Brant Beach (LBI) NJ. We figured that was a good place to start. They marked the location in google maps and sent it to me. I arrived at the beach ASAP and after about 1 1/2 hrs. I had no luck finding it. She came down to look where I had been, and we made a few adjustments to the search location. Within 15 min. I had one half of this beautiful Cartier love bracelet in my scoop, and about 10 min later both half’s were safely in my pouch. I walked up to the house to meet her, and told her she wasn’t in the spot she believed she was. With that said, Camille looked down and said, “I guess you had no luck”. I replied, “you were 10′ over” and handed her the bracelet. What a weekend, her birthday was Saturday, her lost bracelet was found, and today her grandson is expected to arrive!!!!!!!!!.

Lost Coin Stash Found! 50 Years later! Silver Found

  • from Orange (California, United States)

87 Year old Dr. M. Called me a week ago, and said he had buried a bag of Silver Coins in his yard 50 years ago, and now wanted to find them. He said he knew the area, but can’t pinpoint it, and also he remembered “Putting a bunch of old nails all over the bag” when he buried it so it could later be found, lol (as if the Silver wouldn’t be enough) but thinking ahead!

I arranged to meet a few days later, and knew the area he lived in was a very rural hilly area, however, I did not anticipate the terrain where he buried it!
He and his wife, buried these Silver Coins in 1972, when the economy was sketchy, and since his wife has now passed, he was the sole person to remember it was buried there.  Unbeknownst to me, some interesting details he left out about the coins, but I had enought to go on, so arrived at 3PM.

Not exactly a normal yard, lol.  It was down a steep hillside, where he remembered burying it near an Avocado Tree Stump. He had his gardener clear out as much Ivy and overgrowth in the area he remembered it, though a ton of stumps and bushes still remained. I took my Equinox 800, 15″ Coil, Park 1 Mode and started searching. Found usual beer cans, wire, old broken toys, sprinker fittings but nothing screaming out like a bag of Silver.  2 Hours in 92 degree heat climbing in bushes up and down this hillside, and nothing. Dr. M. went up to the house as he was overheated sitting watching me and need water and a rest. I was drenched, worn out, and defeated.

As usual with RingFind customers, I never take their word as to where something is, especially after 50 years!   I rested a bit, drank some water and climbed further up the hill where he said it wouldn’t have been.  Some signals, but then an erratic signal with lots of Iron tone, but also mid 20’s – 30’s VDI, and using PinPoint Mode, I could tell it was about 10″ wide or so and indicated at more than the depth scale deep.  Hmm, so worth digging anyway.

Digging down about 2′, dripping sweat, I kept finding blobs of rusted Iron, nails and some screws. I thought no way this could be chance that there are so many nails in one area. Pinpointer showing larger target, keep digging.   Now I am expecting in my mind a Ziplock clear bag or something, and I had already found an old leather sandal about a foot deep, but I hit another Black Vinyl Strap, kind of like a purse!  I carefullu dug, and sure enough, a purse type material appeared. I tried to pry it side to side to loosen it, but no budge, and I tore the top a little. Drenched, tired as  heck, I plunged my fingers into the hole in it and BINGO! Pulled out 4 Silver Dimes in mint condition!  I almost colapsed from fatigue and joy that I had found it!   50 Years had buried more soil down the hill and originally it was 1 Foot deep, now 2.5′ Deep!

I went up and told Dr. M. and he was overjoyed! Could not believe I found it, let alone where!   I drank more water, then went back down to dig more, and his 97 Year old friend rolled me down a 5Gallon Bucket. I thought I won’t really need it, I will just dig out this purse. Wrong…
Turns out, what he then remembered when he saw it, that it was a Bowling Bag, and he had purchased cloth bank bags full of Silver Dimes and Silver Quarters, mostly early 60’s, mostly Rosies, and some Merc’s, and Quarters from same eras.  I could not get this thing to budge, as I was digging, not knowing how much was there, so I was laying on my stomach, reaching 2-1/2′ down into this bag pulling out handfulls of shiny Silver coins for an hour! The coins were in pristine condition, and the original bank bags were deteriorated, but still pieces showed SanFrancisco Bank on them.

In the end, I wrestled this half full 5 Gallon bucket up to his garage and we weighed it. Over 53 Pounds of Silver!  Accounting for some dirt, say 50 Lbs. We did the math on Silver Melt, and well, you get the idea…

After 3 uncessfull Ring Find calls over the past few months that were real long-shots, I am overjoyed to have found this for him!  I almost lost hope!

Swamp Thing versus The Ring Finders (fighting over a Lost Texas A&M Ring)

LOST TEXAS A&M CLASS RING in Katy, Texas
Swamp Thing versus The Ring Finders
I was contacted by Harendra Mondal a resident of Katy, Texas who was looking for someone to help him recover his son’s lost Texas A&M Class Ring from a bog in Katy, Texas.
Harendra reported his son was visiting a wetland (bog-swamp) area in Katy one evening when a large, massive creature arose from the swamp. Harendra said the creature caused such a fright, that in his son’s effort to escape from the creature, his Texas A&M Class ring slid off his finger and fell into the swamp.
Harendra said when his son returned home and told them of the horrific event, they did a little internet research and identified that his son was a Swamp Thing victim. Harendra’s son had told his father he was not sure if Swamp Thing saw his ring fall into the water and was hoping he might one day be able to recover it
Harendra said while researching the Swap Thing on the internet, he came across The Ring Finders website and located (Houston Metal Detecting Services) and placed the call. Harendra provided me with all the details related to his son’s lost class ring, as he asked if we could recover the lost ring. Harendra further stated his concern beyond Swamp Thing in the swamp was Alligators, and Venomous Snakes that have been seen in those waters.
After a review of all the information, a plan was made to search during the heat of the day in hopes that Swamp Thing would be deep into the cooler waters of the swamp, and that we might go unnoticed.
As one can see from the photos, we were able to successfully sneak into the Swamp and recover this Texas A&M Class ring

22K Gold Ring Found for Owner, Falmouth, Massachusetts

  • from Falmouth (Massachusetts, United States)
Contact:

Will was on his way back home to Canada.  His 22K gold ring wasn’t.  It was buried at an uncertain location on the beach.

Yesterday, a late evening call from Will alerted me to the fact that he’d lost his ring somewhere in dry sand or in the water while they were enjoying a day on the sand and in the surf.  I arranged to meet him early today and he showed me the areas he expected the ring to be: a dry sand area where he’d played ‘spike ball’, an area where the family sunned on the dry sand, and a water area where he’d been swimming.  Will had asked a detectorist who happened by to scan the first area, with no results.  The water seemed like the next best bet so I started there, working parallel to shore from neck-deep in toward the beach.  After about two hours with no results I went ashore and scanned the spike-ball and sunning areas but came up with nothing but some trash.  In the meantime, Will and family had to depart for home.  I’d assured him that if I found the ring I’d arrange to send it back to him.

Back in the water, I started in the middle of the search area, working in- and off-shore toward one side until I reached the edge.  I then expanded the search area and within a few minutes got a nice solid signal.  I sank the scoop deep and a few seconds later was looking Will’s buttery-gold ring sitting in a scoopful of gravelly cobbles.  Success!

The next step will be to ship the ring home.  I had a great time on this search and I’m elated that I’ll be able soon to re-unite Will and his ring!

Update, 23 October: Will’s ring was shipped off to his sister in New York state on 30 August, as it was anticipated that he would be visiting her in early September and this also would avoid possible customs issues in getting his ring back into Canada.  Unfortunately, the planned visit did not work out but now, finally, the ring has made it back to where it belongs!  Will, thank you for adding your background story about the ring.  I’m so happy for you and Swathi that the ‘circle is now complete’!

Will’s 22K buttery gold ring.

At last, back where it belongs!

2 Lost Gold Charms Found in Chesterfield Township Michigan

  • from Detroit (Michigan, United States)

In Loving Memory……

…..it all started when Finn was a puppy. She began taking interest in what her owner Mike was always doing. He started taking her on his fishing trips and that’s how she got her name. Last March at age 11 she passed away. As Mike, his wife Sara and daughter were grieving the loss, Sara decided to purchase some charms with the initials M E F, along with a paw and a heart representing the whole family. Meanwhile, the family met and fell in love with a new puppy they named Fiona. About a week ago Sara and Fiona were playing in the yard and as Fiona jumped towards Sara who was sitting on the ground the puppy’s arm caught Sara’s necklace and the charms went flying. Sara spent nearly 8 hours searching and recovered the M, E and the heart charm. Leaving for a week’s vacation left the F and paw somewhere in the grass. Agreeing to meet this morning I met Mike as Sara had an unexpected work assignment out of town. Taking a reading off one of the charms gave me a baseline to go by. These were very small items, barely detectable. Starting my grid search about 5 feet from where the other charms were found I was getting lost of weird signals in the same range as the already found charms on my metal detector meter. I treated this like a beach hunt and checked all the signals. Getting close to where the other charms were found I got a very faint but solid signal. Probing down into the thick grass and searching with my fingers revealed the Paw charm that was hiding in the turf! Excited that this one was found first I called Mike over to see. He couldn’t believe it! I said it shouldn’t be too much longer until the F charm was discovered. As he went into the house to bring out the sandwich bag the other charms were in, I got another good signal a few inches away. Reaching down and searching thru the grass revealed the F charm tilted a bit sideways at the base of the grass. When Mike got close enough, I held the charm in my hand and said F stands for Finn! He did a few double blinks in disbelief as he reached for the charm to put it into the bag. Totally shocked he called Sara and told her the good news! I could hear her expressions of happiness as Mike held the phone away from his ear!

So, in remembrance, May Finn rest in peace until they all meet again at the rainbow bridge!

Forked River NJ Necklace lost at the Lake recovered by Edward Trapper NJ Ring Finder august 2022

  • from Lavallette (New Jersey, United States)

Got a call today from Aubreigh. She was at the lake on Wednesday and somehow she lost her extremely sentimental necklace that was given to her by her late mother. The area where their blanket was is where she felt it was definitely lost. Sure enough, within 30 seconds if got a scratchy tone, moved the sand with my foot, and there it was. The look on her face was priceless. She was by far the youngest person I have had call, and my gosh, so professional, and determined.

Gold & Diamond Wedding Band Recovered for Owner, Mashpee, MA

  • from Falmouth (Massachusetts, United States)
Contact:

Mike forgot his clam rake when he went to the beach, but that didn’t stop him from digging for quahogs.  The only implements available for digging were his hands, and he made good use of them until he realized that his gold and diamond wedding band had been left behind somewhere in the muddy sand.  He took careful note of the area where the ring likely was lost, probably some 50-60 feet offshore, obtained a non-waterproof detector and made an attempt to find the ring but had no success.

Browsing the web, Mike’s wife found my Ring Finders page and contacted me several days later.  I talked to Mike and we made arrangements to meet so he could show me the area to search.  At the beach he waded out to where he thought the ring might be, and I marked it with a buoy and started my search.  After some additional thought he moved the buoy and I searched that area for about 50 minutes until it seemed clear that I was getting out of the zone where the ring might be.  I moved back to the original area and sure enough, within about 10 minutes had the ring in my scoop.  With some huge smiles, handshakes, and hugs the ring was soon back on Mike’s finger where it belonged!

Thanks Mike, for the opportunity to help you out and get that beautiful ring out of the mud and back in its rightful place!

Mike’s gold & diamond ring.

A big smile from Mike.
