Ring Lost in Pacific Palisades, CA…Found.

Hunter called me on New Years Eve about a lost ring that was lost in a backyard, so after we discussed the situation, we decided to postpone the search until 2 days later on Saturday morning.

When I got to the house Hunter told me how his boss was setting her garden’s planters with new potting soil, and realized the ring was missing. About 2 to 3 weeks had transpired since the loss until they found me. The nice thing about that as opposed to a beach search, is that the ring was going no where, so I knew if it was there it would be found. Hunter showed me the areas where the ring was possibly lost, one was a box about 4 feet square about 2 1/2 feet deep and surround by re-bar. That was a bit discouraging because I knew my detector would be picking up the re-bar as I got near the edges. The other planters were much quieter, and I received no signal from them, so I focused on the square box. After I removed some spikes that were holding down the sprinkler system, I was still getting readings all over the planter, even in the middle which I didn’t understand. I realized I would not be able to use my detector at all in this planter, so I switched to my pin pointer to continue my search. I began to see why I was getting so many hits in this planter, as it was littered with bits of rusting metal (screws and scrap). Fortunately the potting soil was loose which allowed me to probe deep in the planter with the pin pointer. After about 10 minutes I got a good solid hit, and began to dig. Out came this pretty little ring with a great looking turquoise stone in it.

Well I called Hunter, and showed him my find. He was pretty excited about the recovery, unfortunately his boss wasn’t there to see the ring at that moment, but I am sure she had a nice smile, because it was given to her by a friend. More happy smiles for a new year’s beginning.

Lost vehicle keys and fob strand a Kelowna man.

A fresh Winter snow fall is a great time to play with your dog, that’s what Chris was doing on the holiday weekend when he lost his vehicle keys and fob. No problem he had a spare key, so off they go shopping. After shopping, on arriving back at the truck he opened the door and the alarm went off, not having the fob, he couldn’t switch it off. After a taxi ride home he pondered his problem, and tried to get an electrical company to assist him, no luck on the weekend. Next he googled The Ringfinders and sent me an email, I responded the next day and gridded his orchard area until I found the keys and fob. He called me his hero after I drove him to recover his truck.

Lost Platinum Wedding Band at Hilton Hawaiian Village…FOUND!!!

First off Happy New Year ring finders. It was 1039 PM New Years Eve and I was on Facebook when an email from Jemma came in. Jemma and her husband Lachlan from Sydney, Australia were on their honeymoon and staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. While swimming in the ocean Lachlan’s Platinum wedding band came off. They were in chest deep water near to where the beach drops off to 15 feet deep. They spent until sundown trying to find it without any luck. The tone of Jemma’s email was desperation. Knowing this area is detected heavily day and night I immediately called Jemma to see when they could meet. We agreed first light 0530 AM. When I arrived at the beach in the morning it was apparent they had stayed up all night. I had them mark off the extreme ends of the grid and I went hunting. The tide was high so the surf was pushing me around a bit. I was able to go in to my neck but only found a pendant and two pennies. There was a target that got too deep and I had to abandon that target for later. I explained to Jemma & Lachlan that it would require scuba at this point and I brought my gear just in case. They went and got me a hot coffee as we had to wait for the sun to come up. It was going to be another hour so I told them to go eat breakfast and I would give them a call when I found the ring. Three other detectorists showed up hunting the sand and my friend Mike was entering the water with his Dual Field. I needed to hurry. Just as the sun crested Diamond Head crater I entered at the extreme east side of the grid. I started at chest deep and went out to about 8 feet deep. First target a Lincoln cent. A few moments later a beaver tail. Hope Mike ain’t getting too close! Then on about my 6th leg I got an awesome tone and there was Lachlan’s ring. I was going to detect some more but decided I didn’t want them to wait. I hiked back to my truck and called Jemma’s cellphone. I told her I found the ring and asked if they could meet me at my truck as I was cleaning off my scuba gear. She said they would be there in 10 minutes. As I saw them approaching I held out the ring to Lachlan and with a look of amazement he said “thank you so much.” Jemma gave me a big hug and gracious thank you too. Of course we all were smiling and thought what a great way to start the New Year. Aloha to Jemma & Lachlan.

Lost Man’s Gold Ring Chattanooga Tennessee…Found

This gentleman called me after raking leaves in his backyard and said he had lost his ring somewhere in the yard.  I asked him what he did with the leaves, and he said they were all bagged and waiting for pickup.  I told him to hang onto the bags and don’t put them out for curbside pickup yet.  His yard was fairly small and I quickly determined the ring was not in the yard.  That’s when we began searching the bags, and there were around 16-18 bags of leaves.  The first 12 bags were a strikeout, but then I got a 12.19 on my CTX.  We cut the bag open and located his ring.

Lost Platinum Wedding Band in Honolulu…FOUND!!!

I was at home enjoying a college football game when I got a call from Rodney who lives in Honolulu. He was referred to me by Dale Rohlf from All Island Treasure Detectors. The previous morning Rodney was tossing the local paper over a fence to his Grandmother’s house when his platinum wedding band came off in the process. He heard it hit something wooden but not where it landed. He and some family members spent the day looking which included cutting grass and raking in hopes of finding the ring. Rodney met me in front of the house and I had him demonstrate how he threw the newspaper and describe the circumstances to the ring flying off. There was a wooden panel on two steel legs that we believe the ring hit. The steel chain link fence was also a hindrance to the detector. I ran a few lines on each side of the fence and I used my pin-pointer up to the fence to get the most coverage. I noticed the rake marks in the grass and Rodney told me his family members had raked the area out trying to find the ring. We found $1.15 in assorted change, a few bottle caps and other useless metal trash but no ring. We demonstrated tossing objects at the wooden panel. Everything landed near the fence. This was a fat platinum ring so it couldn’t be that hard to find. The house was post on pier so we crawled under the house’s crawl space to see if it happened to roll under there. Nothing! At this point Rodney went to throw away some of the trash we accumulated and he came running back to where I was thinking about what to do next and he shouted “I found it…..it was behind the garbage can in plain view. Wow! That was about 40-50 feet in the opposite direction of the way he tossed the newspaper. Only explanation when they were raking the grass away from the fence line the rake tossed the ring to that opposite location. Whatever, the reason Rodney has his ring back and the metal detector proved it wasn’t where we thought it was. Aloha to Rodney.

Retirement Ring Found Three Years Later in Swansea, MA

Maureen called me recently about a lost ring.  Her brother, Jack, lost his Anheuser Bush retirement ring in his backyard about three years earlier.  He had only had the ring a short time and lost it while tossing a football to his son.  Maureen’s niece found me on the internet and suggested that her aunt contact me.  Maureen was hoping to recover the ring as a Christmas gift.  I searched Jack’s backyard for her.  All the while, Maureen held her “good luck charms” and prayed to St. Anthony.  After two hours of searching and digging up lots of pull tabs, I found the ring.  Maureen was so happy to give this gift to her brother.  Jack was thrilled to be reunited with this memento of his years of service to the company.

Lost ring during Peachland snow removal, found and returned.

Shawn was visiting his parents in Peachland B.C. for the Christmas holiday. We had a heavy snowfall the next day, so Shawn helped his parents move the snow from the backyard and the driveway. On the way home back to Vancouver driving on the mountain road, he had a panic attack when he realized he had lost his ring. The ring meant a lot to Shawn as it was his wedding ring, and his wife still lives in Thailand. When he arrived home his friend said to call The Ringfinders. I responded to his email and told him I would be there the next day. After checking the driveway, I moved out into the roadway and got a signal in the middle of the road. I scraped the snow with my boot and told his parents that I thought I saw a ring, on checking the kicked snow there was his 18k white gold wedding band. Mother was in tears and could not believe it, she immediately phoned her son with the good news. she told me I have have the most honourable job of anybody.

Wedding Ring Lost at Zuma Beach, CA…Found.

Adrian called me early evening on 12-26-15, but because I had been receiving over one hundred butt calls and texts from my traveling son in about 3 hours (and turned my ringer off), I did not see that I had a voice mail an email from him until later that night. He explained to me how he had been climbing the slope at the beach using his hands to gain traction, when he noticed his ring had come off. I promptly sent him and email letting him know I would be available at about 12:00 PM Sunday, to meet them for the the search. He let me know the next morning he would be able to meet me.

When I got to the spot, I met Adrian, his wife Laura, and their young son. Adrian took me to the spot where he remembered losing his ring, and I began my search. I searched the area thoroughly, but did not find his ring. I asked if he could have been North or South of the location whereby he gave me an area that he might have been, outside of the original location. The one thing to remember, is that the shoreline changes from day to day, and without perfect landmarks, it might be hard to find the exact location again. I went across the top of the slope from one end of his instructions to the other with no ring. After, I began to work down the slope, and ended up finding the ring about 25 feet from the original spot. When I found it, I picked it up to show Laura, and asked, “did the ring look like this”. When she saw it she hurried over, unsure, but looked inside to see her name and wedding date engraved inside, and became very excited with much joy. What a great opportunity, to be able to bring this kind of joy to hearts crushed by the loss of such an important part of their lives.

White Gold Wedding Band Lost at Santa Monica Beach, CA…Found.

I was on my way home from a store on Christmas Eve morning when I received a call from Michael about his lost wedding ring. He had been using an adult exercise area at the beach, when he felt it fall out of his pocket, and had searched for over an hour to locate it. I asked if he could wait a little while because I was away from home (and equipment) at the time, when he told me he was checking out of his hotel, and headed back to Las Vegas at 12:00 PM. I told him I would get there as soon as I could, I just needed to drop off the cargo, and get my equipment together. I also had to instruct my son and wife as to how to get the grill going and put on the prime rib roast we were having for dinner that evening, because I knew I would be gone when it was time to get it going. One thing was certain, if it was at all possible, Michael was not going home without his ring.

Michael sent the information, and pictures as to where the loss occurred, which was very helpful, and I told him that I would let him know when I arrived for the search. I got to the spot, and began my search, pausing on occasion to allow people to pass through during their exercise and then resuming my search. After about 10 minutes, I found Michael’s ring, and promptly sent him a text with the ring’s picture, as he hadn’t arrived yet. When he did get to the area, he was very happy that his ring had been found, and grateful that I was willing to come out on Christmas Eve to  help him. I am sure I am speaking for all of the Ring Finders who are a part of this directory when I say, it was my pleasure to do this for you Michael, and to be able send you home with a great smile.

Lost Gold Ring Recovered from a Creek on 12-26-2015 in Clayton, N.C.

This ring was recovered and returned on 12-26-2015 from a creek in Clayton N.C..

I first talk to the guy who lost it yesterday on 12-25-2015.. He explained he was removing some wood and logs two days ago on 12-23-2015 when a log had snagged the ring on his finger and pulled the ring off causing it to fall into the creek.

I agreed to meet him at 10:00 AM today to help make the recovery. When I got there we spoke a few minutes and filled out some forms before the search began. He then took me to the place where he lost the ring and I began my search. Within 5 minutes I had found the ring in just a couple feet of water and it was about 6 inches down buried in the sand on the bottom. The  reason the ring had got buried so fast was the past couple days we had a lot of rain and flood waters here in the area causing it to sink faster in the sand on the bottom..

I was very happy to help in the recovery and as you can see from the pics they were very happy to get it back..

Its always a pleasure when I can help others out in there recoveries..
