Kevin was enjoying a beach day in Ocean City, NJ when his wedding band was accidentally lost in the sand. While reaching into the beach cart, the ring slipped out of the pocket without him noticing. By the time he realized it was missing, it was too late—the sand had already hidden it.

His mother-in-law, Karen, quickly searched online and gave me a call. She described the situation and gave me a detailed location of where they believed the ring had fallen. I arrived at the beach within 30 minutes and met them near the scene.

The beach conditions were ideal—flat sand and not overly crowded. I grabbed my metal detector and started a tight grid search in the area they had pointed out.

After only a few passes, I picked up a strong signal. I scooped carefully, and there it was—Kevin’s lost wedding band, just beneath the surface.

The moment I handed it back was unforgettable. Smiles, cheers, and pure relief filled the air. Kevin was thrilled to have his wedding ring back, and Karen was grateful for the quick response.

This is why I do what I do—helping people recover their precious items lost on the beach.

  1. Erica was enjoying a beautiful summer day at the Jersey Shore when a nearly tragic moment occurred. She had taken off her rings to apply sunblock and placed them on her beach chair. Hours later, when she went to sit down again, she suddenly remembered—but the rings were gone. After a long search with no success, Erica and her fiancé packed up for the day and headed to the boardwalk for dinner. While there, she posted on a local Facebook community group, sharing the exact location of where they had been sitting on the beach. Fortunately, someone in the comments saw the post and suggested she call Edward Trapper – the NJ Ring Finder.Erica contacted me right away. I asked her to take the post down (it had only been up for about 20 minutes) to avoid attracting any opportunistic treasure hunters, and I agreed to meet her at the boardwalk within 30 minutes.

By the time we reached the beach, it was dark and officially closed, but we carefully worked our way around the barriers. Erica guided me to the exact spot using earlier photos, and I could still see the dig marks from where they had searched earlier.

Within 10 minutes, I had her ring safely recovered in my scoop. The relief and excitement on their faces said it all—they truly didn’t expect to see those rings again.

Platinum and diamond ring found in Elgin, Il.

  • from Rockford (Illinois, United States)

Shortly after getting home from work (Monday) I received a phone call from Jennie inquiring if I still do ring searches. I assured her that I most definitely do, do ring searches. She told me the story about how over the weekend, on Saturday, she was at her sister’s house for a pool party in their new swimming pool. She said that she was getting ready to get into the pool to cool off since the temperatures were in the low 90’s that day! She took off a pair of shorts and layed them on the trampoline. She then, took her platinum and diamond engagement ring off, and put it in one of the pockets of the shorts for safe keeping.  Later, when she got out of the pool and went to retrieve her shorts is when she noticed that her shorts had been moved from where she originally set them down. She immediately searched the pockets looking for her precious ring. To her horror, her ring was missing! She and her entire family immediately started searching for the missing ring. They tried everything from diving to the bottom of the pool with goggles on in search of it, to going out and buying a metal detector the next day and searching for it with that! Still without finding it. Running out of options and hope, Jennie grabbed her phone and searched “Ring Finder”. That’s when The Ring Finders .com popped up! Jennie then searched her local area and found me there. After reading some past return stories and reviews from my happy clients, is when she decided to call me. I told her that I could be there in a half hour or so, I just needed to gather my things and I’d be on my way. After arriving a short time later, Jennie and her sister met me outside. After a short introduction I grabbed my trusty Equinox 800 and Garrett pinpointer and followed Jennie to the backyard where the ring was last seen. Jennie gave me a description of the events that took place on Saturday there by the pool and trampoline. It was evident by the matted down grass that the family had searched the area a lot with no luck. The first thing was to move the big steel framed trampoline out of that area so that it wouldn’t interfere with the metal detector.  I then started doing a small grid pattern in the area that they thought that the ring might be in. Nope, not there.  I then decided to grid the entire area, it wasn’t very big. After my 4th pass of my grid pattern,  up near the house, where the stairs lead down from the deck and meet the ground, and about 10 or 12 feet away from where they had been searching, I got a low, choppy, 6-7-8 on the detector. Like every other signal I grabbed my pinpointer and gave the grass a couple of passes in the area of the signal. That’s when I got a flash of something shiny hiding deep in the grass! There it was!! Jennie’s ring!!!

Success!!

Another smile for the book!

A Lost Engagement Ring at Somers Point Turns Into a Miracle Recovery

What started as a beautiful family beach day quickly turned into panic when I realized I had lost my engagement ring at Somers Point Bay Beach in Somers Point, New Jersey.

This beach means a lot to me. My grandmother had a camper at Colonial Meadows Campground, and we spent every summer here. I brought my toddler and 3-month-old daughter to the same spot, hoping to recreate those special memories. Unfortunately, I never imagined I’d end the day searching for a priceless piece of my past — my engagement ring.

While applying sunscreen, I removed both my engagement ring and wedding band and placed them in the cup holder of our wagon. At some point, the rings fell into the sand. About 40 minutes later, while feeding my baby, I looked down and realized they were gone.

Panic hit me like a wave.

I found my wedding band buried in the sand, but my engagement ring was missing. Two kind moms saw me searching and jumped in to help. Despite our efforts, the ring was nowhere to be found.

Then someone mentioned calling a professional ring finder.

Enter John from Ring Finders South Jersey. I called him, not expecting much — but to my surprise, he answered right away. Though I couldn’t meet him at the beach (I was already home making dinner), I texted him photos of the exact area we were in.

He confidently said he’d search that evening.

And he did. Not only did John find my engagement ring in the sand — but he also drove it to my house and personally returned it. I was shocked, overwhelmed with emotion, and so incredibly thankful.

John’s kindness, dedication, and skill are something I’ll never forget. He turned a nightmare into a miracle. If you’ve lost jewelry at the beach, in the yard, or anywhere in between, don’t wait — call the ring finder in South Jersey.

These professionals use specialized metal detecting equipment and years of expertise to recover lost rings, necklaces, keys, and more. And in my case? They return something that’s truly priceless.

Daniel, Calah, and their family were spending a pleasant day at the beach, enjoying the sun and sand. To keep her rings safe, Calah placed both her wedding band and engagement ring in their beach bag. At some point, her niece reached into the bag to retrieve an item. In the process, the engagement ring was accidentally pulled out and fell into the sand. When Calah later went to retrieve her rings from the bag, she noticed that the engagement ring was missing.

Upon returning home, Calah and Daniel conducted a thorough search of their belongings, hoping to find the lost ring, but their efforts were in vain. Realizing they needed assistance, Daniel contacted me to see if I could help locate the missing engagement ring. After discussing the details of the situation with him, we agreed on a plan to meet at the beach where the incident occurred.

Equipped with my metal detector, I began by searching in a grid pattern around the area where they had been sitting. Despite my initial efforts, I did not find the ring in that specific area. Expanding the search further, I eventually detected a promising signal. When I scooped up the sand, the metal detector confirmed the presence of the engagement ring. I called Daniel and Calah over to the location, and they were overjoyed to see the ring returned to them. The search concluded successfully, and they were relieved to have the ring back.
