Lost necklace in the sand, Lavallette NJ, recovered by Edward Trapper, NJ Ring Finder

Got a call from Allison about a cross and chain lost in the sand, in Lavallette NJ. She said her son Jake was there with some friends, and before entering the water, he removed it and wrapped it up in his towel for safe keeping. Later on he remembered it was in the towel, but after looking around for quite a while it was nowhere to be found. After digging around the entire area with no luck, they used a metal detector, and had the same results. I met them on the beach, and they had the entire area marked out which is always a good thing. After searching the area in two directions with no luck, we decided to look to the south, which was the opposite side of where the towel was positioned in the first location. A few feet into the new area I received a faint but solid tone, and bingo, there it was. Most likely Jake came out of the water an grabbed the towel, and by the time it was opened enough for the cross to fall out he was about 25′ of so from the original location.

With a few swings of the metal detector, we successfully located the hearing aid.

Nam called wondering if I would be able to help find a wedding ring that slipped off her finger. They were enjoying a fantastic day at the beach when one of the guys in their group went into the water. He took off his wedding ring and handed it to Nam, so he didn’t loose it in the ocean. She place it on her thumb as it was quite large, and headed back to the area all friends were sitting. After a short while Nam realized the ring was missing, and it must have slipped off her thumb, due to it being quite large. This happens often, as its not something your used to wearing. Anyhow, we decided it would be best if I came out right away, even though the beach was packed, because she was certain of the few spots it could be. I parked my truck at their house, and we walked down to the beach, and holly cow was it ever packed. I told her to walk the exact same path and I would follow right behind. I was getting signals from every chair, umbrella, etc, all the way along the path, but nothing that sounded like the ring we were searching for. When we got to the spot where she was sitting, I searched that entire area and still came up empty handed. A few people graciously moved back a bit and bingo, there it was, very close to a chair that had overpowered the signal of the ring. The entire area gave an applause of success, like being on the edge of your seat in a movie. It was lunch time, so everyone walked back to the house, where I gladly accepted their offer for some lunch and a cold drink.
Lost wedding band in the sand, Lavallette NJ, recovered by Edward Trapper, NJ Ring Finder

I received a call late one evening from Lisa. She had just arrived back home after a nice weekend at the beach with her family. She was entering the water holding hands with her daughter, and when she bent down to grab a shell, their hands slipped apart, and off the ring slid. With the waves washing up, it immediately disappeared, to who knows where. After looking for quite a bit with no luck, they had to pack up and head home. She knew all the right things to do to mark the location, which she conveyed to me on the phone, and we agreed to give it a shot on the next low tide. Its obvious now she had the spot marked perfectly, because I had the ring within 45 min of starting my search. It was to far for Lisa to travel, so we decided the best thing would be for me to mail them back, so I packed them up, and by the next morning they were back where they belong.

Lost cross and chain in the sand, Lavallette NJ, OB3, recovered by Edward Trapper, NJ Ring Finder

Ed called about his beautiful chain and cross that disappeared into the sand while they were at the beach. He had given it to his wife for safe keeping while he went in the water. Somehow during a fantastic beach day it went missing. Ed explained the only place it could be was in the area of their towels and chairs, and positively not in the water. I arranged to meet Ed and his family on the beach in Lavallette, later that evening when some of the traffic cleared. They had already marked out the area, which had some fixed landmarks close by, and are always a big plus. I boxed out the perimeter, and when I got to the original starting point, and turned in just a bit to take my second swipe, I got a nice low steady signal that had cross and chain singing in my headphones. Bingo !!! just as I thought, it was in the scoop. The chain had snuck through the scoop, which his wife quickly spotted shining in the light.
