Rob was sitting near the ocean and lost his wedding ring. The couple searched frantically trying to find it. They even went to Walmart and Best Buy trying to find a metal detector. They ended up ordering one through Amazon. His wife Lauren started searching the internet for help and came across Theringfinders.com! I got a text and I immediately called them and got more info on where the ring was lost and headed down. Heirloom ring lost at La Jolla Shores found

Alex lives by UCSD and had come the short distance down the hill to La Jolla Shores to spend a day at the beach. Just a simple act of running his hands through his hair  caused a ring he got from his grandfather to fly off his finger and disappear into the dry sand. He searched for hours, but, couldn’t find it. He went home discouraged, but, around 1am did an online search and found TheRingFinders.com and my contact info. For some reason, I didn’t hear the phone ring and didn’t notice it until about 2am. I texted him back and we made arrangements to meet at the location. At the site, Alex showed me the search area and what he was doing to make the ring come off. After 15 minutes and a few false alarms, I got the nice smooth 17 signal on my Equinox I was waiting for. A happy Alex can now go home to bed, as I welcomed the same. A pleasure to meet you Alex and thanks for the reward.

Handoff at Coronado, resulted in a fumbled lost ring being found

No, it wasn’t football that prompted the ring search this time. Anders was at Coronado beach with his family, and in the process of handing his child over to his parents, his ring (which matches his wife’s) must have escaped his finger and fell into the fluffy white sand. He tried finding it, notified the Hotel Del Coronado and their staff, and also the lifeguard service, but, for some reason, they didn’t pass on my contact info even though I keep in touch with them. After heading home to LA and a few days had passed, he was able to find TheRingFinders.com and my phone number. After getting a good description of the area, I felt reasonably good that the ring could still be there, even though that beach gets searched daily by other detectorists.  I headed to the site that evening after dark so I could actually get parking and most of the people would be off the beach. After about an hour or so, I got a real sketchy signal for a gold ring, but, it was right next to a stack of aluminum chairs, so, they were interfering with the signal a bit. I went ahead and scooped it anyway and was happy to see Ander’s Tiffany ring in the bottom of the basket. Rather than taking a chance on it getting lost in shipping it, Anders came back down here to pick it up. A pleasure to meet you Anders and thank you for the reward.

Lost ring at Wind and Sea Beach found

Skylar was visiting here from her desert home and was enjoying a relatively cool day at Wind and Sea beach here in La Jolla California At the end of the day, she packed up her gear and headed 60-70 yards across the dry sand to the stairs up to her vehicle. Once at the vehicle, she discovered her engagement ring was not on her finger anymore. She hadn’t taken it off and was at a loss as to what could have happened to it. Checking her possessions, and retracing her steps back to where she was camped didn’t result in finding the ring. She had a rather sad 2 hour drive back home. She and her mother managed to get my contact info and called me for help. Being she was a bit unfamiliar with that beach, all I could get was a general area where she had been, so, working with just a map would have been pretty tough. Skylar volunteered to drive back and show me the search area in person. Wonderful! That always makes thing easier. She and her mother drove to the beach, and met me the same day she called and at about the same time she had left the previous day., so, things should look very familiar. We proceeded to the spot she was camped and I started my search. Quite a few people were still there on the beach at 7pm, so, I had to be mindful of that and not encroach too close to anyone. After coming up empty searching the surrounding area where Skylar had been sitting and storing her gear, and as close as I wanted to get to a couple close by on their blanket, I asked Skylar to try and take the same path to the stairs so I could follow and check that section of beach. We got all the way to the base of the stairs without finding the ring. I mentioned that maybe they could look upstairs in case it fell out there and was maybe (but extremely unlikely) still up laying there in plain sight by where she had parked. I turned around and headed back to the camp site, taking an abutting path slightly closer to the water. I made it all the way back to ground zero, but, still no ring. I then expanded out a bit more around that area, even closer to the couple on their blanket, and got the signal I was waiting for, just 2 feet from where I had stopped when I first started the search! I turned around and headed back toward the stairs, but, didn’t see Skylar or her mother initially, so, I just slowly detected my way back thinking they must be upstairs. I dug a few junk targets along the way, and when I got close to the stairs, I realized they were waiting there. They thought I still hadn’t found the ring yet, seeing me lollygagging my way back but, I pulled out the ring and surprised them both. They were both very happy and will now have a much more joyful ride back home. A pleasure to meet you both and thank you for the reward.

Dana posted on several local Facebook discussion pages that she had lost her ring in her yard and needed to borrow a metal detector. Thankfully she was referred to me from a member of one of the groups who gave me another referral a few months ago. Dana contacted me and said that she was certain that she had lost her silver, blue diamond ring while mowing the grass and pulling weeds. As it turns out, Dana lived only about two minutes from me! We set up a search that same day and I began by checking some piles of pulled weeds in the front yard. I then moved to the back yard and began the gridding process using Dana’s mowing pattern. No luck in the back so we proceeded to the side yard and then to the front where she finished mowing. Dana was beginning to look discouraged because she was certain that the ring had slipped off her finger in the back yard and there was only a small patch of thick grass in the front yard left to be searched. Dana had followed me the entire time but went into the house for a moment to speak to her husband Will. Checking the last area, I hit that solid 28-29 I was looking for on my Nox 600 and immediately saw the ring. At the same time, Dana and Will came out of the house and I told them that I had found something they needed to see. You Ring Finders know what happens from that point on! Wedding Ring Lost on the South Jersey Rugby Football Field Found By Dave Milsted

Chris sent me an email asking if I could help him. He lost his wedding band the night before while at rugby practice. I did a quick Google map search of the field, and it looked pretty barren. So I decided to walk the field before work. When I get there, the field was a solid grass carpet about 5 inches tall. It’s not going to be found by a quick walk.

There was a guy on the field with a human-powered push mower. I asked if his name was Chris. He looked at me with a concerned look, as I was in my work uniform, which makes me look like a police officer. He said yes, and I told him that he sent me a message that he lost a ring. There was relief on his face. He showed me the areas that he was in during practice, pretty much the whole field.

I told him that I wouldn’t get there until the weekend because of work and another recovery that I have today after work. He told me that his wife didn’t know he was at the practice, and he didn’t tell her that his ring was lost. They just celebrated their 4th anniversary a few days earlier.

I went to the beach that night to search for the other ring; I need to get into the water at low tide. There was a thunderstorm when I arrived and when the storm passed the ocean was angry. Large, powerful waves were kicking my butt. I couldn’t complete the search, so I will have to return.

I called Chris and told him that I would be at the field in an hour and 15 minutes if he wanted to meet me there. He said he couldn’t, that his inlaws were over, and he didn’t tell anyone that his ring was lost. He left the room when he saw that I was calling to answer the phone. I told him that I would spend about an hour there tonight, but it could be a several-day search because it is such a large field.

I knew where he placed his bag & drink. So I started there. No luck. So I started at 1 corner of the field and decided to search length-wise. I figured 1 down and back would take about an hour. There are a lot of targets. A lot of “can slaw”,  cans that have been cut up by a lawnmower, leaving many aluminum pieces.

I got about ¾ of the way down my 1st path, and I got a good tone. I located the ring with my pinpointer. I was amazed I found it in about 30 minutes. My mom must have helped. I took a picture and sent it to Chris. He called me back about 10 minutes later, just as I was getting in my car as the skies opened up. He was in total shock. He said after he got the picture, he told his wife what happened. He said he was going to be in the dog house if I didn’t find the ring.

We met the next day to return the ring. Chris said he was allowed to go back to rugby practice.

I love my hobby!!

Lost Cell Phone Found and Returned

We get a joy out of returning lost items. Sometimes we just find lost items on the beach and hunt the owners down. This was the case with this cell phone. When I found it it was dead but after charging it opened up and was not locked. I was able to retrieve the number and call and I shipped it back to the owner. Another win!

Ring lost in Burke, Virginia found and returned!

July 23rd, 2021: Returned ring lost in shallow water, Fairfax County, VA

I was eating dinner when I got a text from Isabella. Earlier that day, she was playing fetch with her dogs in a local lake.  She lost the ring while throwing a stick. When I called, she explained the stainless-steel ring belonged to her recently deceased father and it was very important to her. I quickly grabbed my gear and we met at the lake.

Isabella led me through the woods to the spot she was exercising her dogs. While throwing, she felt the ring slip off, but didn’t see it or hear it hit the water. I asked her to throw a stick to observe her technique and how far she was throwing.

The water was about knee deep, and there were weeds and silt. There were so many potential stainless-steel targets, I focused only on shallow hits. I concentrated in potential areas in which the ring may have landed based on how Isabella threw the stick.  I expanded my search to the left. Within a few minutes I reached down into some weeds to pull out a beautiful, shiny ring with diamonds! I immediately texted Isabella “I found it!”. After hiking back to the parking lot, I handed Isabella her ring.

Lost Keys found in Golf Course Pond

While making his next shot, his golf bag decided to take advantage of gravity and do some exploring. When finished his shot, his buddies were laughing and pointing at his golf bag as it rolled down the hill and into the pond. Everything was recovered except for his work keys. The ones with the safety deposit box key, the building keys, the security fob and several others.  He made several attempts  before deciding to give me a call. Watch the video for the final results.
