Three successful recoveries in 24 hours!!!

When Abel contacted me about a lost gold wedding band at a beach in Alameda, I had just sat down to dinner after performing two other recoveries within the East Bay.  It would be dark soon and I elected to perform the search the following day.

I met he and his wonderful wife on the beach on the kind of day California dreams are made of.  He gave me a brief run down on how he had lost the ring in the dry sand and was able to recover it, but when he took it to the waters edge to wash the sand away, the ring again disappeared into the sand.  Abel had apparently purchased a cheaper detector to search, but was unsuccessful.

I had little doubt that if the ring was there, I would have it quickly.  He was so absolute on where he had lost it that I knew something was wrong when after 15 minutes it had not revealed itself.  To my surprise, Abel moved me fifty feet further up the beach and there I swung over a perfect sounding 20 VDI on the Manticore.  Before I even took the scoop, I informed the two of them that we had found it!  With one large scoop with the CKG Pro Titanium…We had made the recovery!!!

Abel and his wife were stunned and admitted they didn’t think it was likely to be found.  I on the other hand, never had any doubt, and just like that…#78.  It was a pleasure to meet you both and I have nothing but the best wishes for your future.  Thank you.

I truly have the best job in the world when it comes to lost item recovery.  I get to meet really interesting people, all of which are supportive and grateful for my efforts.  There is always a sense of adventure, not unlike any great treasure hunt.  And don’t get me started on the precious metals and gemstones! However, I think that all of us who perform these searches will agree, the greatest part about successfully recovering someones item are the reactions.

Danica contacted me after getting my information from fellow Ring Finder Laura Peters (Shout out to Laura…Thank you and I can’t wait to hunt together).  Danica had requested help recovering her beautiful gold wedding ring from a mishap in the garden.  We set a date for the following day and I reassured her that we would be successful in our endeavor.

The following day was wonderful and I was brimming with confidence after a successful recovery in Danville before heading to a beautiful home in the Berkeley Hills to meet Danica.  She showed me areas of interest and we made efforts to clear them as we walked. At one location, Danica informed me that the garden had “Gopher Wire” beneath the soil rendering the Manticore useless.  I switched tactics and knew that my best bet was to utilize my Garret Pinpointer and tune the sensitivity while searching the dirt beneath each plant.

Less than 20 minutes had past and score…We Made The Recovery!  A wave of shock and excitement shown on Danica’s face, an almost childhood giddiness ensued.  I spent a few minutes taking the obligatory pictures for my profile and chatting with her.  It has a joyous moment for us both.

Another successful ring recovery in the books!!!

I received a call from this gentleman that he had lost is big gold ring in a sticker bush while tossing something over the fence at his storage unit. He tired to find it himself and was unable to get past the thorns.

I told him I would be there right after work today. Made the drive over and within 5 mins found his gold ring on the ground under the bush and mixed with some dead thorn leaves from the bush.

22-Karat Gold Ring Lost At A Soccer Filed! Empire Park, Edmonton Alberta

On Monday afternoon, I received a desperate call from Venkata asking if I could help locate his 22-karat gold ring that he had lost while playing soccer. After asking him a few questions about what had happened, I agreed to help.

When I arrived at the soccer field, I met up with Venkata. He showed me the area where he had been playing and explained that he felt the ring fly off his finger. He was convinced it had landed near a line of trees and a dirt pile. I spent the next three hours carefully searching that area but came up empty-handed.

Before leaving, Venkata mentioned that he had been playing all over the field. Thinking it over, I felt the chances of the ring flying all the way to the trees were actually quite low. With the mosquitoes becoming unbearable, I decided to call it a day and told Venkata I would return the following morning to continue the search.

I arrived back at the soccer pitch at 9:00 a.m. After carefully assessing the situation, I became convinced that the ring was not where Venkata believed it had landed. I decided to search the opposite side of the goalpost instead. Within just 15 minutes, my detector gave a solid signal. There it was—his 22K gold ring, lying about 15 feet in the opposite direction from where Venkata was certain it had gone.

When I handed the ring back to him, Venkata told me that his parents had given it to him when he moved from India to Canada three years earlier. The ring held tremendous sentimental value, making the successful recovery especially meaningful. Seeing the relief and gratitude on his face made all the time and effort worthwhile.

SS Earrings Lost in the Sand, Found and Returned Cherry Grove SC

This morning, August 5, 2026, I received the following text from Robin. “Good morning. I’m sure it’s a long shot but yesterday I lost my grandmothers sterling silver large hoops. I had taken them off to go into the ocean with my daughter – fearing losing them if I went under. Silly me placed them in the pocket of my beach chair and when we left, I folded it up and walked back. We were sitting very close to tower chair 2 near the Inlet Point Villas and I walked straight back to the villas. I have search everywhere hard and tried looking this morning on the beach with no luck. I’m most upset because they held such sentimental value. Please let me know if you think there could be a chance in finding them and what you charge for your services. Thank you.” I called Robin and got a few more details. At the time the sky was black, and it was raining, but there was no lightening. I waited awhile and just after noon, I text her I was on my way and would be there in 15-20 mins. When she responded, she also stated that she had found one of the earrings and the other should be close to the same spot.

When I arrived at the gated community, I called Robin and she came out to open the gate. We walked out on the beach to where she had set up a beach chair. I tested the earring with the Equinox 800 that she had found lying at the edge of the water and got a solid 15. I started a grid search and walked maybe 10 steps and got a solid 9 on the detector. I dug the target, washed the sand out in the surf and Bingo, I had her other earring in the scoop. She was very excited and grateful her grandmother’s other earring was back in her possession.

Wedding Ring Recovered from the Sand in Avalon, NJ

Late one evening, I received a call from Richard after he realized he had lost his wedding band in the sand while enjoying the beach in Avalon, NJ. Like many people who lose jewelry on the beach, he knew that every passing tide could make recovery more difficult.

We agreed to meet at sunrise the following morning. Richard showed me the general area where he believed the ring had been lost, and I immediately began a careful grid search using my professional metal detector.

After about 15 minutes of methodically searching the beach, I heard the signal I was hoping for. Buried beneath the sand was Richard’s wedding band!

Watching the relief and excitement on a client’s face when they’re reunited with a treasured piece of jewelry is one of the best parts of what I do. Richard’s day started with worry but ended with a recovered wedding ring and a great story to tell.

Lost Yellow Gold Cartier Juste un Clou Ring at Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I got a call from Arjun who said his friend Milena lost her Cartier Ring and they believed it might be in the dry sand at Hilton Hawaiian Village.  They were friends from High School in Sacramento California and enjoying their Hawaii vacation on the beach.  Milena had put her ring in a wallet and then a beach bag and when she went to get it the next day it was gone.  They checked everywhere they thought possible and when it wasn’t found only the beach remained.  I told Arjun I was picking up some Sushi at Kojo’s, but when I was done, I’d grab my gear and be there in about 20 minutes.  We met at the Hot Dog truck and walked to the beach.  In route we saw no less than three other metal detectorists scanning the beach.  I told Milena & Arjun that was worrisome because that beach is detected constantly.  When we arrived in the area Milena’s friend Nathaniel drew a grid box in the sand for me and I started the hunt.  Several targets were retrieved so I was thinking if the ring was lost here we have a chance.  Then I found a nice bling ring and a Silver CZ earring.  About two thirds of the way thru the grid I got a solid centerline dot 29 on the Manticore and in one scoop there was Milena’s beautiful Cartier Juste un Clou Ring in the scoop.  I pulled the ring from the scoop and held it up so Milena’s friends on the beach could see I found the ring.  They all jumped up and came running over to see.  I think I was amazed and shocked as they were.  Several tourists on the beach began to clap and shout congrats!  Milena was back in her hotel room so her friend’s took a pic of the ring and texted her to come down to the beach.  I always hand the ring back in person just to be safe.  We had several laughs and hugs and the graduates said this really cheered up their day.  Later I got a text “Your a life saver!”  I don’t know about that but these kids sure made me feel young again.  Much “Aloha” to Colleen, Jed, Arjun, Milena, Emma & Nathaniel!

Missing Ring in Danville, Recovered from the Trash!

When I tell people that almost all the rings I recover within a home come from the trash, they look doubtful.  Here is another instance that proves my point.

Mia contacted me about a missing ring inside a home.  She goes on to tell me a story that, when it ends, I make one request… do not take out the trash.

It would be a week before I could get to this search due to my volunteer work with the BSA and taking several youth scouts to camp.  However, upon my return, I contacted Mia to schedule our search effort.

There were four large trash bags laid side by side when I arrived.  We separated the trash and scanned each object with a pin-pointer as we went through the refuse.  On the second of the four bags, a clue…a chip bag that Mia had admitted to have been munching on the night the ring went missing.  Moments later, I was handing Mia her beautiful Platinum and Diamond ring,  We had made the recovery!!!

Less than 20 minutes into our search, we celebrated another success and another missing ring from within a home, located in the trash bin.

Titanium Wedding Band lost In the Delta…Recovered!

After an exciting baby shower the day prior, Nina and her family spent the day on a little beach on Sherman Island in the delta.  The day was beautiful and the weather perfect.  That was, until Nina’s husband Chris lost his titanium wedding band when playing with his nephews in the water.  He was extremely disappointed to say the least and a dark cloud loomed over an otherwise perfect weekend.

I was made aware of the incident and agreed to perform a search the following day.  Water recoveries in the summer are always a welcome escape from warm inland temperatures, but this day was very windy and the water was choppy, not ideal for searching.

None the less, my boys and I made our way out into the water and started the process of locating the missing ring.  A number of objects in the water meant that this area most likely had never seen a detector.  Bottle caps, pull tabs (some very old), lead weights all made for a noisy and busy search.  I could tell with every piece of trash we pulled and minutes passing that Nina was losing hope.

When I recovered the ring I knew that Nina and her sister had not noticed.  I gave it to my oldest boy to take to the beach like all the other trash we recovered, but this time he asked, “did the ring look like this?”  Confused the two looked at the ring then all at once realized… We had Made The Recovery!

A celebration ensued and I even allowed myself to have a celebratory White Claw with my new friends.  I learned all about the two’s courtship, marriage, and the new special package about to bless their lives.  It was a joyous time and I was glad I got to take part in their story, however small my part was. It was a pleasure to meet you Nina and we wish you the very best!

Silver Pandora Bracelet Lost in the Soft Sand, Found and Returned North Myrtle Beach SC

In the early afternoon of Aug 3 2026, I saw 3 different notifications on my FB account. All 3 were recommending me to a young lady, Ashton to help find her silver Pandora bracelet. In her post she had stated, “Hi everyone! I lost my Pandora bracelet on the beach around coconuts 2 days ago and I was wondering if it had been found.” Included in her post was a picture of the bracelet with a small charm attached. There was no need to follow up on her post, so I waited to see if I’d hear from her. At 2:27 p.m. I got a text on my business suite saying, “Hello! I was told to contact you for finding Pandora bracelets. I had lost mine 3 days ago and was wondering if you could help me find it!” I immediately responded saying, “Call me.” I included my phone number. A Short time later I got a call from Tate, a friend of Ashton. I got a little more information from him and told him I’d be there in about 15-20 minutes. I grabbed my Equinox 800 and was on my way.

When I arrived at the parking area for the beach access, both Ashton and Tate were sitting on the board walk stairs waiting for me. As we’re walking out on the beach, I learned that the day she lost it, they had walked roughly 2 blocks down the beach to Coconuts, a Tiki bar and grill, for lunch. They said that they walked in the high sand. So, I had Tate stand on the left side and Ashton on the right showing the extreme edges of their path. I started a grid search from one side to the other as we walked down the beach. After we got a pretty good distance down the beach, maybe 4 blocks or so, they came up to me and said, “we think we went too far.” So, we backtracked to a point where there was a path to the parking lot that Ashton said she had walked down. Just to clear that area, I started down the path with Tate close behind. About halfway down the path, I got a solid 15 on the 800’s VDI (visual display indicator). I assumed a silver bracelet would ring up in the mid 20s but wasn’t positive. When I’m on a search for someone, I check all targets just to make sure anyway. So, I moved the sand with my foot and pushed out a silver Pandora bracelet. Tate saw it and said, “I think that’s hers.” I reached down and picked it up and told him not to say anything. We both noticed the charm wasn’t on the bracelet, so I went over the area numerous times but couldn’t find it. Ashton had stayed at the entrance to the path, so I walked back to her and asked her, “What’s your bracelet look like?” As she’s pulling a picture up on her phone, I held the bracelet up and said, “Does it look like this?” She froze, couldn’t talk, and didn’t move, just stared at her bracelet and not believing it. While I was with Ashton, Tate was on his hands and knees going through the sand where the bracelet was, trying to find the charm. I went back over the whole path and couldn’t find the charm. Ashton said the charm only comes off when the bracelet isn’t clasped. So, it should have been right there but wasn’t. I went back out the next morning with my Gold Bug Detector and pin pointer and searched again with no luck.

Ashton, thank you for trusting me to help find your bracelet, it’s now back where it belongs. I wish you all the best in your life’s endeavors.
