When Marissa reached out to me earlier this week, determined to find her wedding ring lost during yard work, I knew we had a challenge ahead. Given the urgency of the situation, I quickly enlisted the expertise of Stephanie Hobbsto take on the search effort as I was not able to get away. Stephanie promptly contacted Marissa, and together they mapped out a plan to scour the yard on Friday. Despite an extensive search that spanned a couple of hours and revisiting some areas multiple times, Stephanie remained optimistic and scheduled a follow-up search for Saturday morning. Undeterred by the obstacles that lay before us – from metal yard edging and woven wire fencing to reinforced concrete and sprinklers – we embarked on a meticulous search. After an hour of searching, I made a few adjustments to my Manticore, methodically working along the wire fence before making my way along the yard edging. Suddenly, a distinct two-tone signal stood out, and with careful excavation, we uncovered the wedding band nestled beneath the mulch. A surge of excitement fueled my next move, and with another swing, the two-tone signal rang out once more, revealing the engagement ring. Overcome with emotion, Marissa’s tears of worry gave way to tears of joy.

Lost – Platinum Diamond Wedding Band, New Smyrna Beach, FL – FOUND!!!

I had just driven to Daytona for a metal detecting outing when my phone rang. It was Maddie, and there was a clear edge of urgency in her voice—she’d lost her ring while sunbathing in the warm, sugar-soft sand of beautiful New Smyrna Beach.

I told her I could be there soon and not to worry.

When I arrived at the park, Maddie met me at the pavilion and led me to the spot where she and her mom had been sitting, surrounded by the gentle ocean breeze and the sound of waves rolling onto the shore, when the platinum diamond wedding band disappeared.

I powered up the Minelab Manticore and asked a few questions—where exactly she’d been, whether she’d gone into the water. As she talked, I began sweeping parallel to her towel, the coil gliding just above the sun-warmed sand, working my way down toward the driving lane. Nothing. I turned and made another pass up the lane.

Then—there it was. A solid signal. Low tone. VDI of 6. Exactly what I was hoping for.

I dug a small scoop, and within seconds, the diamonds caught the light, sparkling brilliantly as they emerged from the soft sand.

Maddie was overjoyed. Nearby sunbathers gathered around, sharing in the moment, smiles all around under the bright coastal sky. Another lost ring returned, another family relieved.

God is good.

Well I’m 70 years old and out here gettin’ DOWN and DIRTY… and before y’all get to talkin’, it ain’t that kind of dirty 😏😂

It’s just me, my metal detector, and a whole lotta Alabama mud. While some folks my age are rockin’ in a chair, I’m out here diggin’ holes, chasin’ beeps, and lookin’ for a little silver like it’s still 1965 💁‍♀️

Who needs a gym membership when you’ve got squats, lunges, and a shovel? Baby, this IS my cardio.

And let me tell you—there ain’t nothin’ wrong with a little dirt under your nails if it means you’re still out here LIVIN’.

So if you see me out in a field lookin’ like I wrestled a gator in a swamp… mind your business. I might just be one beep away from somethin’ good 😉

Lost Sentimental Yellow Gold Earring at Kaiona Beach…FOUND!!!

This Earring find began last Wednesday night when I received a text from Kim who lives in the Aliamanu area of Oahu.  She thought it would be either at Kaiona Beach known locally as Obama’s Beach as he has a home nearby or Nuuanu Park.  I missed her follow-up  call as the phone was showing a name I didn’t recognize.  We finally spoke again this morning and decided to meet at the beach around noon.  Kim met me in the parking area along the road and took me to the area of the beach she thought the Earring may have been lost.  She drew a line in the sand and I started a grid search in the water from there.  After about an hour and several possible targets later I was surprised to see her sentimental yellow gold earring in my scoop.  I went to where Kim was sunning on the beach and she met me at the water’s edge.  “Yes that’s it!” she exclaimed excitedly.  She gave me a hug of thanks and relief.  She got the earring from her Mom when she was around five years old. I told her how happy I was to find it in the water as Oahu Parks are terrible to hunt, with all the years of metal party debris in the ground.  Aloha to Kim!

Lost Ring at a Construction Site in Woolwich NJ

Kevin called me after a friend of one of my successful recoveries referred me. He lost his 

titanium wedding band while at work. He was at a large construction project, working with moving sprinklers & hoses from different lots. It could be on 1 of 4 lots. We agreed on a 6:30 am time for the search.

I met Kevin at the construction site. It is a huge new housing development. He showed me the 4 properties that he was working on. The lots were not that large. I started on the 1st one, no luck. Moved to the second lot, strike 2. The third lot was the biggest, strike 3. But I was not out yet…

The fourth lot, about 5 minutes in, I finally got a good tone. Spread the grass from the newly laid sod, and there was Kevin’s ring. I took some pictures, then called Kevin to come to the 4th lot. He showed up about 5 minutes later. I asked him if there was any other place it might be, he went to the bed of his pickup and started looking there. I held up his ring while we continued to look. The look on his face when he realized that I was holding his ring was priceless. He explained that he was leaving the next day for vacation with his wife & kids to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary. 

I asked him what his wife would say when she found out he had his ring back. He decided to FaceTime her while I was there. She couldn’t believe it when he held up the ring for her to see. I hope they had a GREAT vacation!

Cell phone lost in tall grass/woods recovered Lincoln Nebraska

Joe was walking along the outside of the golf course pickup up trash and stray balls. He had his phone in his shirt pocket.  When he got back home it wasn’t there. His wife and him walked the area four times looking for it with no success.  Later that day they were supposed to get upgraded phones with a trade in. Yep that meant that the lost phone now couldn’t be called and tracking it with an app was now impossible.  My son and I along with Joe set out to find it. The more eyes the better and 2 metal detectors also. Rest is history.  Always a pleasure to meet new people and put smiles back on people’s faces.

Lost Yellow Gold Wedding Band at Four Seasons Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I got a call Friday 17 April from Four Seasons Security asking if I was available to recover a guests ring in the dry sand beach chair area.  They told me their guest would be departing soon, so I would have to mail it to them if found.  Security gave me the contact’s name, Jay,  from Denver, Colorado.  I told security I would hunt first light Saturday morning so that I could move the chairs from the search area and not bother the guests.  After moving the chairs, I started a grid search.  After about 5 minutes, I got a nice low tone under where a beach chair had been and in one scoop there was a yellow gold ring.  I went to my car to text the guest a pic for confirmation.  It certainly was! We verified by the brand name.  “That’s the one!  Thank you very much!”  The post office was still open, so I rushed and packed the ring and Jay received it today in Denver!  Another one for the Book of Smiles!  Aloha to Jay!

Metal detector rental finds lost wedding ring in Sanford Florida!

Mrs Patti was doing some yard work pulling weeds and removing all the dead leaves and branches and putting everything into some large garbage bags to be later thrown out. After cleaning everything up she went inside to wash her hands and that is when she noticed that her 47 year old gold wedding ring was not on her finger. She immediately went outside and started going through her garden beds running her hands through the dirt and mulch hoping and praying she could find her lost wedding ring. A neighbor called me and mentioned the situation and I rode over as soon as I could. Mrs Patti was very concerned and explained that she never takes her ring off and was not exactly sure where it went. I assured her that if it was there in the yard I could ver very likely find it for her and not to worry. So I searched all around the plants and combed the dirt and mulch areas well to be sure not to miss even the smallest target, thinking that maybe her ring fell in the dirt and could be up on edge making it more difficult to detect. My last area to check was the two large black garbage bags that were filled with all the debris that was to be thrown out so I laid the first large bag on its side and gently stepped on it to sort of flatten down the contents to make sweeping my metal detector coil more effectively and…Beep, Beep…my detector sounded off on an obvious target that read in the small gold ring range. So I opened the bag and dug through the sticks and leaves and caught a small glimmer of gold! There was Mrs Patti’s lost wedding ring in the trash bag…bound for the garbage but now found and back where it belonged.

I received a text from Daniel asking if I could help him find a ring that “ended up in a retention pond behind his apartment building” in the Baldwin Park Orlando area. Apparently this happened 4 months earlier and Daniel said he was waiting for the water in the pond to recede before trying to find someone to help retrieve his lost engagement ring. I asked a number of questions and soon found out that Daniel’s wife had actually thrown her own diamond engagement ring. Daniel assured me that he had a fairly good idea as to where the lost engagement ring landed so I gathered my gear and headed his way. After I arrived I decided to cover the grassy area between the sidewalk and the waters edge and only came up with some aluminum pieces so I then donned my wet suit and grabbed my trusty waterproof Garrett AT Max metal detector along with my top of the line Xtreme scoop, my floating sifter and started grid searching in and out of the water. It only took 15 minutes to get that sweet gold signal and when I dumped my scoop contents onto the floating sifter and used my pin pointer to locate the target…there buried in the grass and silt was Daniel’s wife’s lost engagement ring. Daniel was one very very happy husband! Even though they have only been married for three years he assured me they are working on getting along better and finding her ring would go a long way in mending their relationship!

Lost Gold Ring Found in Ann Arbor Michigan

The First Bloom of Spring…..Made Their Hearts Sing!

For just about a year Brendan and his wife had no idea where her ring went missing. Their love of milkweed and the pretty flower it produces inspired them to design a custom ring for Diana. While planting some to attract butterflies is when Brendan thinks the ring vanished. Diana was also busy with other tasks on the property, so they really weren’t sure. I started my grid search on the path Diana took from the house to the garden area. Since the property was once a farmhouse from the late 1800’s I started to see many deep iron targets on my MXT metal detector meter which I quickly passed over. Getting a bouncy signal in where the ring signal would be I dug a piece of foil. Rechecking the ground a new signal sounded good. Pinpointing the item, I dug down about an inch and saw what looked like a flower that was happy to see sunlight again! It was Diana’s ring! Texting them to come out, when they got to me, looking in the hole, Diana plucked the ring from the ground. As huge smiles appeared on their faces, I said what an unusual way to sow the seeds of love!
