Recovered wedding set in Lochbuie, Colorado

  • from Lakewood (Colorado, United States)

I got a call from a young woman who lost her wedding set. She put her rings in her pant pocket, set her pants down to change to go into her pool. While she was in her pool her dog grabbed her pants and took them from the backyard around to the front of the house. She had a good idea of where they might be. When I arrived the entire yard was xeriscaped and under construction. There were roofing nails, screws and all kinds of building material everywhere. I started where she thought they could be which was in the front yard, with no success. On the side of the house there was a patch of hay and random trash, building material etc. After many signals from nails and screws I got a solid signal in the hay pile. One ring found….about 2 feet away in the hay was the other. She was so surprised I had found it so quickly, honestly so was I. Most of that time was trying to get the dog away from playing with the detector coil. 🙂 She was shy and did not want to show her face but was happy to model on her hand.

iPhone Lost & Found Underwater by Rob Ellis, Virginia

  • from Fairfax (Virginia, United States)

Meaghan called me on July 4th and asked me to find her lost phone. She had been kayaking and was returning the rental to Penguin Paddling in Occoquan when her iPhone Pro Max slipped into the water. I quickly grabbed my SCUBA gear and hurried to the river.

Smiles!

Meaghan and her friend showed me where her phone dropped into the water. Unfortunately, due to earlier rain, visibility in the water was very poor. Additionally, phones sometimes plane as they sink, landing in a different spot than one might expect. I conducted an expanding spiral search in almost zero visibility for more than 40 minutes before finding Meghan’s phone.

Lost Rose Gold Ring Found in Clarkston Michigan

  • from Detroit (Michigan, United States)

The Ranch…

…Was always one of Colin’s favorite places to work at. While just finishing up spreading some pine mulch he took a shortcut thru a corral and decided to jump over it. Landing awkwardly, he dusted himself off and headed to his vehicle and left for the day. After arriving home, he felt his ring missing. Quickly checking inside and outside the vehicle revealed no ring. Once on site we walked towards the corral only to find a bull roaming around where we needed to metal detect. I told him I didn’t bring a matador costume and asked if he had one to use while I metal detected. Laughingly he said no, but he would get someone to put the bull into another area for a few minutes. While the bull was being dealt with, I started to metal detect the area outside the corral, but no signals came thru. Entering the corral the restrained bull was watching us from afar, snorting, stomping its hooves and swinging its head around. Quickly grid searching I got a good solid signal, and my pin pointer metal detector narrowed it down. Moving some trampled dirt around revealed Colin’s stunning rose gold ring. With his back to me I yelled Charge! and as he whirled around thinking the bull got loose, he saw me holding up his ring and said… Now that’s really taking the bull by the horns! Ole!

Stamford Rings: Miracle recovery in the sand, August 2025

  • from Old Saybrook (Connecticut, United States)

Susan and her son were spending a nice day at the beach and she took off her rings for safekeeping and placed them in her shirt pocket. Later in the day when leaving she went to put them ion while heading out and noticed her pockets were empty. She turned around and went right back to the beach which started a series of events. Her and her son started sifting the sand with a fishnet and her husband arrived and stayed until closing searching with a small detector.

They decided that outside help was needed and looked up @theringfinders.com and got my name. I cam the next morning and began my search in an area we had marked off. After gridding the area for a short time, I expanded the search a bit further and got my first solid hit and a platinum wedding band emerged from the sand and ringed with diamonds. Not the task was to find the second ring. After an extensive search in the immediate area there was no engagement ring to be found. We relived the previous day’s activities, simulating sitting in the beach chair and removing her shirt to see how a simulated ring would fall out.

I’ve now gone back three times and during the last attempt had the assistance of another detectorist and possible future ring finder and still the ring is not to be found. It’s very possible that it had been picked up. The couple purchased a detector and giving them a few tips they will continue the search. During the last search, she found a ladybug sitting on a shell and gave it to me for good luck. When I first met her, I had given her a St Anthony medal and in hopes that prayer and divine intervention would again help recover both rings. It was a miracle we found one and the other may require another miracle.

I arrived the next morning and the ring was found in  a 3 foot high garden plant. It was actually 30 feet further away from where they believed it to be. The big gold ring was visible two feet high in the side of the Hibiscus plant. Probably more than 50-60 people had walked past it without seeing it..

Wedding ring set found in Horsetooth Reservoir

  • from Denver (Colorado, United States)
Recently I received a call from Trina asking me to try to locate a ring lost in Horsetooth Reservoir. She and her husband Ben had spent the day hiking around the reservoir and wanted to cool off in the water. She wadded out into the water; the water level drops off quickly so about 10-15 feet from shore and she was already up to her shoulders and cooling off nicely. Even though she could touch bottom easily she had to mover her hands in a treading water motion in order to stay in one place due to waves from the nearby boaters. It wasn’t long when Trina felt her wedding ring (handed down from her great grandmother) slip from her finger. Trina and Ben spent the next several hours trying to find her ring with no success. That night she found my number and contacted me and soon we made arrangements for Stephanie Hobbs and I to come and do a search.
Sunday morning Stephanie and I gathered our gear and began our hour long drive north. Stephanie brought her XP Deus and associated gear, I brought my Minelab Manticore, waterproof headphones, pouch and two water scoops.
Upon arrival at the reservoir, we were VERY fortunate to find a parking spot and pulled in (timing is everything). Trina and Ben met us as we pulled in, they live in Cheyenne, Wyoming so it was no short drive for them either. They took us down to the location of our search site and Trina showed us how deep she was in reservoir.
Stephanie and I spent over two hours in the cold mountain water searching trying to locate the rings.  At one point I needed to get out of the water to prevent hypothermia and warm up on the large rocks that lined the shore. The scoops that I had brought were useless as the area of our search had large flat rocks that left crevasses with a thin layer of mud on the rocks. I tried feeling for the ring with my bare feet and pulled up many rocks (I may have monkey feet), that was unsuccessful. Finally, I decided to detect mark the spot by Stephanie holding my scoop upside down and I would dive under the water and try to feel for the object (hopefully the ring). This was a good idea but not great. Stephanie suggested that we use her MI6 probe since it is waterproof, what a great idea. Eventually we wondered out to deeper water, up to my chin. I heard a great signal (31) with a perfectly round dot on the line of my Manticore. With Stephanie perched on two larger rocks so that she was above water holding the scoop to mark the spot and my detector I started to dive again. After several handfuls of muck, I finally surfaced with the rings in my hand.

Ring found and return in Denver!!

  • from Lakewood (Colorado, United States)

Tom lost his ring in his yard over a month ago. He tried renting a detector but did not know how to use it to the best extent possible. It was a special ring and when his daughters found out they decided to buy him a new one while they were in Ireland. He still thought of that ring as special so he gave us a call. After talking to Tom about where he may have lost it in his backyard, I decided to search the whole perimeter. About halfway through the yard I found the ring not far from a tree. He was so happy to have his ring back and to have a new one from his daughters as well!

Received a call from Tom. He explained that his wife had dropped her diamond ring somewhere between the beach entrance and where they set up on the beach. Took the short ride over from home and met up with Tom at the entrance to Philadelphia beach. Tom led me from the entrance of the beach to where his party had set up their belongings for the day. I checked the path to their site while he directed me to it with a few coins found along the way. One reaching their site I met Toms wife Thanh and bean checking around their cabana. With the first swing I heard a familiar tone. One shallow scoop later I had Thanh’s ring in the scoop, much to the couples relief! Another happy couple!
Thanh’s review:
“While on vacation I lost my wedding ring at the beach in Cape May. 😥 I was DEVASTATED. My husband found Jeff through a quick google search and within 15 minutes of making contact, he was at our beach site and within 1 minute he said “don’t worry, I got it,” and found my ring!! It was incredible!!

Precious Engagement/Wedding Ring Found For Owner by Brian Tucholke, Old Silver Beach, Falmouth, Massachusetts

  • from Falmouth (Massachusetts, United States)
Contact:

12 August 2015.  Nickey was enjoying a day at the beach with her children, but she was devastated when she realized that her beautiful custom-made engagement & wedding ring was missing from her hand.  Fellow beach goers helped her search for it with no result.  Beach sand, whether dry, wet, or under water can hide a ring in an instant, and when the place of loss is not certain a tactile recovery or recovery by sieving becomes a nearly impossible task.

Fortunately beach staff knew about the Ring Finders and gave Nickey contact information.  She called Rick Browne, my friend and fellow Ring Finder in Yarmouth.  He was not able to come to Falmouth but referred her to me.  I was able to meet her at the beach within about 15 minutes.

Nickey outlined the area where she had been, in and out of the water.  The loss had been about 2 hours previously, fortunately at mid-tide on an outgoing tide.  She had been playing and tossing a ball in the water with her children, so that seemed to be the likely place the ring was lost, although it could also be in nearshore wet sand or in dry sand where they had been sitting.  I started the search in the water near the center of the likely area, doing swaths from the shoreline out across a trough and across a sand bar about 150′ offshore, then back in.

As my swaths approached the south edge of the area Nickey said she felt that she and her children had been playing farther north so I returned to the center and moved in that direction.  One swath out and then halfway back, on the sand bar, pure Magic!  As I scooped a nice crisp signal in calf-deep water I saw her beautiful ring slip over the tip of the scoop — it was only an inch or two into the sand — but with a quick second push I had it.  The sand quickly flowed through the holes in the scoop and I was left staring at nothing but a gorgeous diamond ring set, resting safely and sedately at the bottom.

I left the ring set in the scoop and headed in to shore.  As Nickey looked questioningly at me I held out the scoop.  She looked inside.  Well, words cannot begin to describe all the mixed emotions and tears that flooded forth, but it can safely be said that the encapsulated joy of those moments will never be forgotten.  Nickey called her husband Mike with the good news, and those who had helped in the earlier search joined in the celebration.  I was pleased to be able to meet Mike, who arrived from work a short time later.

What a great day!

Nickey’s beautiful engagement/wedding ring.

Nickey’s ring back where it belongs.

A very happy young lady!

There’s nothing like success!
