I was contacted by Kelly, a Comal Country Deputy Sheriff who was looking for someone to help find her brothers Texas A&M Class Ring…
Kelly posted a comment amongst some of her friends on Facebook, and a fellow Police Officer responded that they new just the right person.
I spoke to Kelly a short time later and she explained that her brother Brian had lost his new Texas A&M Class Ring in a swim area in Canyon Lake.
Kelly put me in contact with Brian, and he provided additional details on his ring and the location lost. Brain indicated he was having a get together with some of his former military brothers at Canyon Lake.
Brain said it was during this event that he lost his new ring. Brian said while swimming in the lake, he felt his ring slip off and drop down to about the 8-foot mark. Brian said he tried effortlessly to recover his ring that afternoon.
Brian indicated he returned the following day with some dive gear and made another effort at recovering his lost ring, but he had no success.
I am guessing it was during this point, that his sister got wind of the situation and started her own investigation!
Kelly and Brian both provided photographs of the search location…and Brian was very confident he had a very good idea of where the ring had come off his hand.
I contacted my partner Carl to see if he was up for a 6 hour round trip dive adventure to Canyon Lake…

I was contacted by Crystal a resident of Alvin, Texas who was looking for someone to help her find her lost Wedding Band…

Crystal reported she lost her ring a few days ago while relaxing with her family in their pool. Crystal said her wedding ring and band flew off her finger while playing water volleyball with her family. Crystal said she was hitting the volleyball when she felt her ring fly off of her finger.

Crystal said the volleyball game came to an immediate stop…with everyone searching for her lost rings in the grass. Crystal said her son found the her engagement ring in the grass near the pool, but the wedding band could not be found.

Lost Dental Post Found In Detroit Michigan

The Tooth Fairy’s Outta Luck Today!

My most unusual request has to be this so far. The pictured gentleman was on his phone and when he sneezed his tooth came out. After talking with him he mentioned how much it would cost to have it replaced and was worried that someone may find it. I said even the tooth fairy couldn’t make the exchange on that and I for sure will give the tooth back should I find it cos’ it’s not something I ever wanted in my collection! That got him laughing and more at ease. I knew I would be looking for a mid range number cos’ of the metal composition and it was very small. Also the shape of it resembled an earring post. When I got on site it was full of gravel and after about 10 min of searching the detector signaled a solid +38 and after removing a large stone there the tooth was! He was super thrilled and couldn’t believe it could be found and now he can avoid the replacement.
So no matter what someone asks you to help them find, do your best to be the reason you made someone’s smile better!

The BIGGEST Diamond Ring I have ever found and the Hardest Hunt. 3 days in Tall grass

Received a call at about 7:00PM to look for a 18K diamond ring that was lost throwing a small stick. They knew exactly where in their back yard!! (In the grass) They were so emotional about it, and it sounded like a easy hunt, I went out immediately. I arrived before nightfall. A couple of things that I had not been told about. Grass was 3 to 4 feet tall, near a retention pond, and it included cattails!! Needless to say I did not find it.

I returned the next morning with a scythe (Yes I know how to use it! I’m OLD and cut grass with one along the highway for the county when I was a kid) a rake, and both my CTX and XPDeus detectors and all my coils. I cut some of the grass and started to search. After several hours of hard labor, I asked them to rent a industrial weedwacker. I cut more grass all the way to the retention pond and searched. 7 hours later…Nothing!

Returned the next day with Ron Shore another Ringfinder. I knew the ring was there and was very frustrated, but stubborn. We hunted for about 4 hours. Nothing. Both becoming frustrated. This seemed like an easy hunt. So I decided to start from scratch. I ran a gridline starting at the waters edge and worked my way back to where she had been standing. I checked out EVERY signal with my handheld pinpointer. Not 5 feet from where she was standing I found the ring. I marked the spot and told the woman that we decided to quit hunting since Ron and I were exhausted. I told her I had marked a spot that I had received a signal but I was too tired to look and would she check it out.. BINGO!!!!

Here is what was interesting and a lesson I learned. Ron was using the the AT Gold with a nell coil and I was using my CTX with my 17 Inch coil for coverage. Since I knew it was a very Large 18K ring ( Bigger than a mens College ring) I assumed the signal would BLAST us. NO way. The signal I got didn’t lock on and jumped around from 34 to 38 no solid red. Ron had the same issue. He said he would never have dug that signal. Perhaps the unique shape of the ring with different layers created the issue.

The lesson is to start at about 5 feet BEHIND the point of standing and grid Forward. Rings that are lost while throwing sticks generally are about 10 feet from the starting point. Rings are generally NOT where they think.

Lost Gold Engagement Ring Recovered in Catonsville, Maryland!

I received a call from Richard yesterday about a ring his fiance lost in back of their apartment complex the day before. He said they were certain it was there somewhere, but they were unsuccessful locating it despite visually looking for it for hours. He was also concerned about it being washed away due to the very heavy rains the area seen the night it was lost.

Luckily we were able to meet up that late afternoon between rain showers. Richard directed me to the area he felt was the best location to start and I immediately got to work. After about 5-10 minutes, Richard let me know he’ d be right back an went around to the front of his apartment. During that time I found this under some fairly thick vegetation…..

Upon Richard’s return a few minutes later, I presented him with the ring!

Shortly thereafter, the rains started back up again. Luckily, the ring is back where it belongs and all is well!

Twinkling In My Eyes! Stunning Diamond Pendant Found In Gig Harbor, Washington! Eyeballed!

Tuesday I got a voicemail in regards to a lost white gold and diamond pendant in Gig Harbor… It was in a basket of personal items that was in the back of Jennifer’s SUV, and someone forgot to completely latch it! At some point the basket fell out of the car onto a relatively busy country road and spilled all the contents! Including an extremely valuable and sentimentally significant diamond pendant! They exhausted themselves looking but were only able to find the main, larger items on the side of the road. She suspected the pendant had hit the grassy ditch and a metal detector would be the right tool to locate it.

Since I was busy during the week, I had to postpone the search until the weekend, and was hoping no one had found it in the meantime. We met this Friday afternoon and went over the story, pictures and location where it had occurred. Since it was a busy road, we had to be mindful of cars as we walked to the area. I left the metal detectors behind in my truck, planning to retrieve one as soon as the details were all clear… then I’d begin the hunt!

Imagine our surprise and elation when within 2 minutes of arriving on the scene, I SPOTTED THE DIAMONDS TWINKLING IN THE SUN!!! ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD!!!

NO METAL DETECTOR NEEDED!!! One stone was loose but near the pendant and it appeared to be in great shape other than the loose diamond! Another happy ending to a very stressful few days in this families life. Glad I could help, and just a little sorry it was so easy this time 😉

Platinum and Gold 18k Wedding Ring Found… Sammamish, Washington!

Yesterday I received a call from a man, who had been digging a culvert to bury some wire going from his house through his backyard. While he was doing the work, he had taken off his wedding ring and put it in his pocket so he wouldn’t damage the ring. At some point in the day, he realized that the ring had fallen out of his pocket, and he was convinced that it had gone in the ditch with the wire, which he had reburied. This presented a real problem for me, as the wire would possibly mask out any signal from the ring if it was in the ditch. I searched along side of the culvert and over it, and occasionally got some signals which could have been the ring, but they always turned out to be the wire buried one foot down! After trying multiple metal detector types, I kept on reaching the same conclusion. If it had fallen in this ditch probably the only way to find it would be to un-bury the wire and start all over again. Likely the ring would be lost forever.

His mood and mine, were beginning to become less hopeful. At some point he mentioned maybe I should search in a completely new area, and I think he was leaning towards the idea of me quitting the search. He said “Why don’t you go and sweep the driveway really fast, I don’t think it would be up there but you never know.” I had basically come close to giving up, since I have been out there for a few hours with no luck. But I went and swept the gravel driveway with my larger coil metal detector.

After a few minutes, he rounded the corner with some money in hand, about to tell me I could go ahead and quit the search. But, when he reached out, I had something in my hand too! I had found the ring! It was barely buried in the gravel driveway. Likely, a car or two had run over it but it was in great shape still!

“You had the right idea! I’m glad you changed it up!” I exclaimed… he was incredulous and the whole family was besides themselves with excitement!

Sometimes it just isn’t where you thought it should be. It took nearly giving up the search, but luckily this hunt had a happy ending!

Recently married Chrissi and Sean were enjoying the beach when Sean’s ring slid off while brushing himself off. They tried themselves to find it but couldn’t, even with the help of others.
Chrissi called and told her father what had happened and he located me on Rings Finders. Told her I could be there in a half hour to stay in the area till I got there. Met them on the beach and they had the area already marked off and with that help I managed to find his ring in no time. Just the smiles are enough to make a recovery worth it. Another Great and Happy ending. Hope they have a wonderful marriage together.

LOST WEDDING RING IN WAIKIKI FOUND

This ring find started in the late evening around 9:00pm on June 16th. I noticed on craigslist an ad that said they lost their wedding ring in Waikiki. I respond to the ad and got a call back from Jay. Asked him a bunch of questions and Apparently there were 3 other detectors who tried looking for it and didn’t find it. I was a bit hesitant to go out and look knowingly that there were 3 others who looked and supposedly didn’t find it. I was hoping that someone didn’t find it or worse they may have found it but wasn’t truthful. My gut was telling me to go out there and help them so, I did. I let Jay know that I’m on my way and to make sure NO MORE METAL DETECTORS go through the area. I get to the beach and meet up with Jay and started to look… there in the search site was almost 60 drunk people partying on the beach, beer cans, rubbish, rough waves and a lot of coins. About 4 hours later I get a nice tone while I’m in chest deep water… there in my scoop is a beautiful 3.8 karat wedding ring. I look towards shore and turn on my headlamp so Jay can see me and start nodding my head so he knows the ring is found. I give a loud shout of praise and I hear the people on the beach yelling ” YOU FOUND IT?” as I reply “YES”. The people on the beach gathered around as I presented Jay His wife ring back. All i could hear were people yelling and excited that the ring was found. Jay and I both agreed to let his wife know so she could enjoy the return of here precious ring. Another successful recovery and another honeymoon saved. WHAT A GREAT FATHERS DAY GIFT!!!

Lost Titanium Ring Found With Dowsing Rod On Belle Isle Park Detroit Michigan

Third Time’s A Charm!

This pictured gentleman had his titanium wedding ring slip off back on Memorial day. I returned his call and he texted me a pic of the area where he thought they were. The area was roughly a football field size. I headed out on my own shortly after and did a quick check with my MXT in the most likely area. Did not come up with anything but lots of trash and trash masking more trash.
Since I didn’t have a target I.D. for titanium I went to my friend’s jewelry store and he happily provided some samples of titanium rings in the approximate size of the lost one. So now I knew what to look for on the MXT meter and ignore everything else. At home that night I also started to photo dowse the image and got a repeatable signal in a certain area as indicated by the 2 arrows pointing towards each other as well as the dashed line indicating the titanium ring’s fundamental ray and opposite ray. That’s a given that the ring was there.
So I went out a second time and met the man who lost the ring and we walked the area for as long as he could stay. I didn’t have my dowsing rod with me as this was a short notice meet with him. Did not search the photo dowsed area at this time as there were people sitting out picknicking, frisbee and what not and didn’t want to draw attention to a certain area. So a third visit today turned out productive. When I got on site, I went thru my usual dowsing procedure going off the photo dowse and got an area intersected where to metal detect. Still a large area but when the MXT signaled +18 I knew I got it! It was fairly close to where the red x is on the photo where this beautiful ring was hiding just below the grass, in fact I saw half of it peeking thru the grass I’m surprised no one saw it and picked it up. It was in the shade of a tree but had it been in the sun someone for sure would have saw the glint from the sun off it and grabbed it. So I immediately texted him with excitement and he wanted to meet today to get it back. He first tho had to cancel the order he had placed for a new one! So I learned something today I already knew but since I havn’t gotten “skunked” like this in awhile, that is don’t give up on finding things out there, keep at it, persist and you will succeed even if your third time isn’t a charm!
