I got a text Saturday evening from Damian asking if I could help find his ring. He had been having a picnic at San BuenaVentura Beach in Ventura and had put up a small tent during the course of the feast. Somehow his ring had become dislodged off his finger and had ended up somewhere in the sand. I told his I could be there at sun up and that if his ring was there I would find it.

As I always do I took time out to pray and ask God to help me find his ring and when I arrived at the beach I simply asked for God to direct my steps and lead me right to where Damian’s ring was. The area was large so I started walking to the high tide line to begin my search. I got to the location, turned on my machine, took one step and one swing and got a loud 37 on my Minelab Manticore. I plunged my CKG scoop into the sand and heard the rattle of what could only be a ring and sure enough, there was Damian’s ring. Since Damian had already returned to his home in Los Angeles I agreed to mail him back his ring and now all is well.

Cape Cod – Yarmouth, MA Lost Ring, Found and Returned

  • from Cape Cod (Massachusetts, United States)

July 1, 2026

Well summer and a heat wave have arrived in time for the 4th of July festivities. Getting a head start, Kevin was testing the water, which was still a bit on the cool side, when his white gold wedding band slipped off his finger to land on the sandy bottom of his condo’s lake. He saw the ring resting and did a shallow dive to retrieve the ring only to have it slip through his fingers and vanish into the sand.

After several tries to re-locate his ring failed he gave up the search. A couple of days later a search on the internet for someone that could help him find his ring. To his credit he chose “TheRingFinders.com” to help in his search. Navigating the home page to the country, state and person he chose to reach out to me.

His call came in as I was heading to a doctor’s appointment, but I would be available around 5pm. I arrived about 4:30, had a brief discussion on where the ring was lost. Then it was out to chest deep water in an area about one quarter of the swimming area. I started covering the area in a grid pattern and after a few passes Kevin said he thought he might have been several yards from his initial recollection. So I move to the new area. And several more minutes of searching I was shown to still another area.

About 10 more minutes passed with only two coins, a fishing weight and two pull tabs in my pouch I started a grid pattern that encompassed all three areas. Another 10 minutes of my detector not giving me a signal to stop and dig, I heard the familiar sound I was listening for, a sharp, repeatable signal and a steady numeric ID number on the detector screen. A single scoop a quick shake to remove the sand from by scoop and I saw the white gold ring. My searching had been completed in about an hour.

All that was left was to take a few pictures, tell a few stories of other returns I have made and I was homeward bound, just in time for dinner.

I will end this story with one tip to those that have read this far and find themselves in a similar predicament as Kevin had been in. And that is to stay in the spot the loss happened, have someone bring you a few coins and drop them in the area your lost item should be. Then call for one of “TheRingFinders” to come and help retrieve your item.

Until then … have a HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!

Longport NJ Lost Wedding Band Found by Ring Finders South Jersey John Favano

Wedding Ring Recovery Success Story in Longport, New Jersey

When you’re enjoying a beautiful day on the beach in Longport, the last thing you expect is to lose your wedding band in the sand. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened recently when a visitor was tossing a football with family and friends.

During one throw, the force of the motion caused his wedding band to fly off his finger and disappear somewhere on the beach. After spending considerable time searching the area by hand, there was still no sign of the ring. With thousands of grains of sand and a large search area, finding a small gold band can feel impossible.

That’s when they contacted me, John Favano of Ring Finders South Jersey.

Using Experience, Detective Work, and a Grid Search

The first step in any successful ring recovery is gathering information. I asked questions about where they were standing, the direction of the throws, how far the football was traveling, and where they first realized the ring was missing.

Using those details, I narrowed down the most likely search area and established a systematic grid pattern. Rather than wandering randomly with a metal detector, a structured grid search ensures every square foot is covered efficiently and thoroughly.

After carefully working the area with my metal detector, I received a promising signal buried beneath the sand. Within moments, the missing wedding band was recovered and safely returned to its owner.

Why Beach Ring Recoveries Require a Methodical Approach

Beach recoveries are often more challenging than people realize. Wind, foot traffic, shifting sand, and inaccurate memories can quickly make a small search area much larger.

Lost – Heavy gold tennis bracelet with diamonds, Daytona Beach, FL – FOUND!!!

  • from New Smyrna Beach (Florida, United States)

I saw a post on the Daytona Dig & Find Metal Detecting Club Facebook page. A woman had lost a heavy gold tennis bracelet set with diamonds in the shallow water in front of the Hawaiian Inn. Several detectorists had already searched for it, but no one had been able to find it. The owner, Jill, had lost it the day before.

I called Lisa, (Jill’s friend since she was 3) who had made the post, to get more details. She told me they had been set up in front of the Hawaiian Inn, roughly in line with the indoor pool, and that the bracelet had come off while her friend, Jill, was in the water. She also shared that the bracelet had been a gift from Jill’s mother, who had passed away the previous year. That made the search about far more than finding an expensive piece of jewelry—it was about recovering a priceless reminder of someone deeply loved. I told Lisa I would head down the following afternoon and asked if she could meet me there. She gladly agreed.

The next day, I arrived about an hour before low tide. As I drove, I prayed that God would guide me to the bracelet.

I started by carefully gridding the dry sand, working back and forth across the area. The only things I found were a few scattered coins. It was time to head into the water.

Lisa arrived a short time later and pointed out several places where they had spent time the previous day. She even showed me a photo of Jill wearing the beautiful bracelet. I searched the shallow water where they had entered the ocean and then worked out to knee-deep water, covering every likely spot. Still nothing.

Rather than give up, I expanded my search farther south.  Then it happened.

A solid, low tone rang through my headphones—the exact sound I had been hoping to hear. I scooped up the target and, as the sand washed away, a dazzling flash of gold sparkled in the sunlight. Resting in my scoop was the beautiful diamond tennis bracelet.

I carried it over to Lisa, who immediately identified it. She was absolutely thrilled. Knowing the bracelet had belonged to Jill’s late mother made the moment even more meaningful. Several people who had been watching the search congratulated me as the treasured family keepsake was reunited with its owner.

Another cherished memory had been restored.  Praise the Lord. God is good.

Lost something important? Maybe I can help. I’m Ed Duffey, a Central Florida metal detecting specialist focused on recovering lost items. Whether it’s a ring, jewelry, keys, or even a phone, I search beaches, parks, yards, and shallow water—just about anywhere it might be hiding.

If it’s metal and it’s lost, there’s a good chance I can find it.

Lost gold ring out of car window, Leesburg Florida Recovered along side of road by Ring Finders service.

  • from Sanford (Florida, United States)
Contact:

Solomon called me about a lost ring along a busy road over in the Leesburg area and he wanted to know if there was some way I could help him. He said it dropped out of his car window while he was rolling it down and getting ready to throw a little something out. I was a bit confused because many times people throw their rings out of moving cars but in this case it simple dropped off of his finger and he could not find it anywhere and that is why he called me. There was no exact address along the road so he sent me the pin and two hours later we met along the road, parked just ahead of where he was when his ring fell out of his window. I asked Solomon, whose name means “Man of peace”, to join me inside my vehicle in the AC so I could ask a few more specific questions and to think about the best way to begin searching for his lost gold ring. As I sat in the car I observed the section of roadway and noticed it was a long curve in the road going to the right and the pavement/asphalt was slanted a fair bit. Solomon had searched in the roadway itself and the other side of the road and had not even thought of looking on the downhill side, which I assured him that a dropped ring would naturally follow his vehicle a short ways and then gravity would push it to the right shoulder. We put on bright yellow and orange vests and I recommended we just walk slowly and search with our eyes before I use my metal detector. We walked maybe 60 feet or so and BOOM…there was Solomons lost gold ring…just laying in the sparse grass! Solomon was shocked and happy and thrilled to see his ring and told me he will not wear it on his pinky finger anymore but will get it resized so it fits properly on his wedding finger. Again I always pray before and after each and every search and I thank God for giving me wisdom and putting me in a position to help people and be a blessing in any way I can.

So how can I help you find something you have lost? Call or text me ASAP and let’s talk!

In the photos below, I was called out to find a ring that was lost the night before at Haulover Beach.  Unfortunately the beach was closed by the time he called me but I was able to meet him there early the next morning.  He was from out of town and actually rented a car just to make it there.
He had place his ring in his pocket and believed it could have fallen out in one of two areas.  After searching the first area with no luck we tried to figure out where he was sitting the day before.  After gridding the area for a few minutes I was able to find it:-).  Another successful recovery.
If something similar has happened to you, don’t wait. Give me a call/text.  Louis 305-608-1870

Wedding ring lost in swimming pool, Orlando Florida recovered by Mike McInroe Florida Ring Finder.

  • from Sanford (Florida, United States)
Contact:

I received a late night call from Raymond asking if I would possibly be able to help him find his lost wedding ring on the bottom of a rather large swimming pool in a downtown Orlando Hotel. It was late at night but I asked if he was sure that he lost it in the pool and if he could get permission for me to conduct a scuba dive after hours! If he said yes to those two questions then I would agree to make the drive down and help him out. He called back right away and said yes to those two questions…so about 11:30pm I packed up my gear and drove down to meet Raymond and his wife who were anxiously awaiting me at the front desk. It was the perfect dive scenario so I set up my BLU3 NEMO Portable Dive System, donned my wet suit, my fins, mask, weight belt and grabbed my underwater dive light and entered the pool at the shallow end and swam along the bottom scanning my powerful light just an inch or so off of the bottom and slowly covered the whole pool. And then right in the darkest corner of the deepest end I saw a glint of gold and swam towards it hoping that it was Raymonds lost wedding ring and sure enough! Turned out to be a really easy and enjoyable search and recovery and even though I got home super late…it was a real pleasure to be able to help Raymond and his wife!
