Lost Gold & Diamond ring, recovered, Sawyer Michigan, Lake Michigan

Marilyn lost her gold ring yesterday, while out back with the family on the beach. Not sure if on the dry sand or in the water. This ring has her grandmother’s wedding ring diamonds mounted on it, so its of great sentimental value. Her son contacted me and we orchestrated the details and I was on my way over (time crunch, before work).
The potential loss area grew quite a bit after getting the tour of the beach area, but I would give it my best and return tomorrow if need be.
Nothing turned up on the dry, so I moved to the water.
She’d gone out to neck deep yesterday and said the sand had moved a lot overnight.
After a few passes, I got a nice signal in about thigh deep water. Sounded great, but also sounded like a US nickel (same exact vdi # 26), but when I peeked in the scoop, I saw that Gold ring and knew i’d got it. It was about 3-4” down in the sand.
Marilyn was amazed I’d found it!

Lost heirloom silver/ruby ring, recovered, Cherry Beach, Lakeside Michigan

Ahmed called me while I was heading home from a long afternoon of detecting in Lake Michigan. He had just realized that his “silver ruby” ring went missing while at Cherry Beach.
It was getting dark, but offered the option of heading up in about an hour.
We met at the parking lot, geared up and hit the beach. He was not sure when, where or how it was lost. He stated he’d help “bury a friend” in a big hole near where their towels were and also threw handfuls of sand at other friends in a few different directions. So, it turned into a mystery type hunt, fairly large area, but not too bad.
I covered the dry sand first, covering about twenty steps in the directions he’d tossed sand. Nothing there, so I entered the water, made a few passes where he’d also thrown sand towards. After finding an old pull ring, I got a nice high silver sounding signal and scooped that big gypsy style ring. He said it was his late father’s ring, that was handed down for him to wear.
