Sheila contacted me today about her fiancé’s chain and cross that were accidentally left on the beach in Ventnor, NJ.  The surf was rough yesterday, so he decided to take it off before going into the ocean.  Forgetting that it was in the side pocket of the beach chair, the jewelry dropped into the sand when packing up. They didn’t realize it was missing until after they got home and were extremely upset because it is very sentimental.  I met with the couple on the beach and they gave me the approximate location where it could have been lost.  Something in the distance caught my eye as I was walking around detecting.  It glistened for a second, so I decided to walk toward it.  It turned out to be the edge of the cross peeking out of the sand! It’s a great feeling when you find what you’re looking for, but it’s extra special when you recover something so sentimental.

Yes there is such a thing called TheRingFinders… A global directory with over 560 members helping people find what they thought was lost forever…I was on a ring search when I got a text message asking for help in another lake not far from where I was searching. After I made the recovery for these people I reached out and talk to the person who had lost his white gold wedding band in a lake. I told him it was crucial that we attack it quickly because so many people now hunt these lakes and it won’t take long before somebody scoops it up. I came to learn the ring had been lost for eight days, not a great thing to hear.

However I responded quickly and went directly to that lake, unfortunately they had closed the parking lot and I could not get in, I tried for many hours but they kept turning me away. I found a parking spot approximately 2 km from the lake and decided to walk in, the only thing I didn’t know was it was another 2 1/2 km to the lake once I got to the gate entry.

Oh well a long walk and I was very hopeful that I could find it for him! After a long hot walk I was looking so forward to going into that beautiful water and within 25 minutes I found his white gold wedding band that had been there for eight days… I was so happy to be able to continue that story after finding out he was only married in January and you can only imagine how much that meant to him to get it back.

Jack lost his Virginia Military Institute class ring while he and his family were in Brigantine, NJ for a beach day. The ring flew off his finger while tossing a ball back to people playing in the ocean. I started a grid search in the water and eventually worked my way toward the shore. Jack and his wife thought they might have been over to the right more, so I walked toward that direction along the shoreline. Three steps later, the sentimental ring was found!

Peter was sitting on the beach in Ocean City, NJ when he decided to take his wedding band off and place it in the cup holder of his beach chair. Shortly after a quick grid search with my metal detector, I got the signal for the white gold wedding band and it was back on finger in no time.

I received a call from Teri about her father’s World War II ring that was lost in Stone Harbor, NJ on Saturday. Her father, who was very fond of the sea, was a Merchant Marine in World War II and his ring is very sentimental to the family. Her son, Patch, has been wearing the ring for the past few years. To keep the ring safe while on the beach, he placed it in the cup holder of a beach chair. Unknowingly, his cousin put on the backpack chair and went to the water to clean off some sand before leaving. Patch realized the ring had fallen out, and he and his family searched the area. They resigned to the thought that it was probably lost forever since it may have been dropped in the ocean.
I met up with Teri and did an extensive search of the area where it might have fallen out. I had to return a second time to be able to go out farther in the water. It was in waist-deep water that I finally got the signal. It was a great feeling when the ring showed up in the scoop and was able to be returned to the family.

Matt lost his wedding band while he and his son were jumping waves in Ocean City, NJ this past Friday. The ring was lost going in to high tide. The first attempt to recover it was nearly impossible due to the rough waves from the incoming tide, so I returned the next day at low tide to be able to go out farther in the ocean where it might have dropped. After about 20 minutes of searching, I got a nice signal from the metal detector and the ring was found!

I received a call back in May about several sentimental and valuable items lost in a house fire in New Jersey. After several phone calls and a long wait for permits to enter the home site, we were finally able to search for the lost family heirlooms this weekend.

The fire had taken the home down to the foundation which made the recovery search very difficult. The effort continued over the course of a few days. I was able to recover the gold family heirlooms from the sad and tragic loss.
