Phone lost at Ocean Beach found

This young lady was at Ocean beach last night with friends until after dark. She had her phone in her sweatshirt pocket until she was tackled to the sand and the phone popped out and was buried out of sight. She and her friends looked for it and even used the “find my phone” app last night and this morning to narrow the search area, but, to no avail. I got the call just as I was getting ready to leave La Jolla Shores after finding a lost ring there. 20 minutes later, I was at the location at Ocean Beach and met her and her mother. They ran the “find my phone” app again and showed me the search area. After wandering around a short time trying to zero in on the signal, I got a good hit on my Equinox and looked down to just see a tiny bit of phone case edge barely visible above the sand. I reached down and pulled her phone out and waved over to them walking ahead of me. Mother and daughter happy now and a lesson learned about loose fitting sweatshirt pockets! Lost ring at La Jolla Shores found

Karim just wanted to rinse off a bit of sand in the ocean before leaving the beach. Sounds simple, safe, and easy right? Well, after wading into calf deep water and reaching down into the water, a wave washed through and stripped his wedding ring right off his finger. Immediately sifting the sand for the ring with his fingers proved fruitless. His wife hit the internet, found my number, and gave me a call for help. The loss happened 2 hours before low tide but by the time I got the call, it was just after low tide and it was coming in, so, the next low tide this morning was the best time to give it a try. We met at 5:30am and I started my grid where Karim thought he went into the ocean. 1/2 hour later I had only heard some iron sounds, when, I get a screaming 25 hit on my Equinox. Well, that didn’t sound like platinum to me, but, I scooped it anyway. There in my scoop was a ring, but, not Karim’s ring! By this time, it was starting to get light enough to see better, and Karim realized that we were in the wrong location. We then headed north about 150 yards and I started my grid work again. Again, nothing but iron grunts for 1/2 hour or so, when I get a weak but repeatable 3 on the Nox. Scooped and found a corroded piece of aluminum can. Rats! 2 feet away and I get another weak but repeatable 3 and figured I had another piece of that can. Scooped it anyway and was surprised to find Karim’s platinum wedding ring in the bottom! I was looking for a low non-ferrous tone, but, didn’t think it would read quite that low, but, I can’t complain about the result. Now Karim and family can head home to NorCal in a happier mood. Ring Lost in Bressi Ranch Found

Even though it was later in the day than usual, and their regular ball playing routine would be postponed to another day, Jay took his dogs to their favorite area for a run and romp in the park grass. While wrestling with his two dogs, his now loose fitting wedding ring popped off his finger and disappeared in the long fescue grass. Even though the search area wasn’t very large, try as he might, with flashlight and hands and knees hunting that night and the next morning, Jay couldn’t come up with it. He found me online and we arranged to meet around noon. We walked the short distance to the search area and after just 3 other signals, Jay’s wedding ring told my Equinox that “hey” I’m here! See? I’m a solid 15 and not a pull tab! Save me! Jay was more than happy to get his symbol of love back again to continue it’s story. Great to meet you Jay, and thank you for the reward.

Lost ring found at Mission Bay

Lindsey was guilty of the most common cause of lost rings at the beach. She took her rose gold ring off to apply lotion, set the ring in her lab, and then forgot about it until sometime after she had stood up. After realizing what had happened, she and others looked through the sand hoping to recover it. After that failed to locate the ring, she called a local detector rental shop and tried her hand at finding it that way. After 3 hours and nothing but scrap metal, she returned the detector and was advised by them to contact TheRingFinders.com. She initially got a hold of  Curtis Cox in Carlsbad. He was out of town and referred her to me. My wife and I headed to the site and met Lindsey who explained the situation and showed us the search area, which was mainly a reasonably small sized section of dry sand overlooking Mission Bay. Lindsey had to leave for a while and left me to do my best. After covering the dry sand section in one direction parallel to the water and coming up empty, I started at the beginning again at 90 degrees from the first. My first pass went closer to the water than previous passes and over some wet sand, but, it was on the return of that pass that I got the sound I wanted still in the wet sand. After some cheers from other folks on the beach who knew about the lost ring, I texted Lindsey with the good news. I went and rinsed the ring of sand and let everyone oooh and aaah over it while waiting for Lindsey to return. Needless to say, Lindsey was very happy to get this family heirloom back on her finger. Keys found in Chula Vista

Angela called me to help find her lost keys. It was dark, she and her husband were outside his car in the parking lot where they lived. Angela attempted to throw her keys over to top of the car to her husband on the other side. The keys didn’t make it! They hit the top of the car and bounced somewhere. They searched the parking lot, sidewalk, and landscaping the best they could in the dark using a flashlight, but, didn’t have any luck. They searched again the next day, even cleaning out dead leaves and branches from the bushes along the sidewalk. Still no luck. Next in the process was to buy a metal detector and try again. They had “fun” removing everything imaginable from the ground cover and bushes, but, the keys just wouldn’t speak up. Eventually, they heard about The Ring Finders and gave me a call.

I met Angela at the parking lot around noon and got the low down on how the keys were lost. I started by searching all the ground area in and around the bushes and all along the sidewalk. No luck. I ran the coil over the surface of the bushes and even in the overhanging tree branches, but, still nothing. Next, I started at one end and started shaking all the bushes as hard as I dared, hoping to hear the tinkle of keys or to hopefully convince the bushes to let go of them. We made it all the way to the other end without success, but, while walking back toward where we started Angela looked down and spied them right under the corner of one of the bushes. Yes! Don’t know how we missed them at the time we were at that bush, but, hey, they’re now back where they belong, so, that’s what counts. A very happy Angela called her husband with the good news and both gratefully thanked me. A pleasure to meet you Angela and thank you for the reward.

Ring found at Ocean Beach

Richard called me to say that he accidentally lost his wife Simone’s gold ring in the sand at Ocean Beach,  She had given him the ring so that she wouldn’t go into the ocean with it and lose it! Richard had it on his pinky when the unthinkable happened and it ended up in the dry sand. Never fear, The Ring Finders are here! I grabbed my gear, asked the wife to come along in case there wasn’t any parking, and headed out the door. Turns out there was plenty of parking, so, my wife and I went over and met Richard and Simone. We got the story and the approximate search area where I went to work. Not 30 seconds later, I get a nice solid 9 on my Equinox 800. Poked my TRX pin pointer into the sand and chased a signal for a few seconds until I cornered it and pulled a pretty little gold ring back into the sunlight. A relieved Richard and a happy Simone were now able to enjoy the rest of the day. A pleasure to meet you and thank you for the reward.

Ring lost at Ski Beach Found

Joe was enjoying his visit to Ski Beach on Mission Bay, at least until he lost his platinum wedding ring. He had gone down the the water’s edge to rinse his hands. when he returned back to the fire ring area where they were camped, he shook his hands to remove the water, when his ring flew off. He and others tried in vain to find the ring in the dry sand, but, no luck doing that. I met Joe there the next morning and after a few bottle caps that were reading 13-15, I got an 11 reading on my Equinox that proved to be his ring. A happy Joe is now able to get that ring resized and continue it’s story. Nice to meet you Joe and thank you for the reward.

Ring lost at Mission Bay found!

Amy and family were visiting San Diego from Missouri and enjoying a day at the beach, when, her ring was accidentally flung into the sand from their blanket. they combed through the dry sand with their fingers for quite some time before they realized they needed some help. After a search on the internet, I got the call and headed out. I met them at the location and began a grid. Luckily, they kept watch on the area, so, there was no chance someone else could have found it. Well, it wasn’t found in record time, but, it was close…..took maybe 15 seconds and was at the edge of the designated search area! A pleasure to meet you and thank you for the reward.

Ring lost at Mission Bay found

Alyssa was enjoying a day at the beach with her family, when she noticed that the ring she had put in her pocket was missing. She was pretty sure it happen out in the sand where her kids were playing after she had pulled her phone out of the same pocket. Alyssa’s sister told her about The Ring Finders and Alyssa contacted me. I hot footed it down there (actually just joined the rest of the maddening crowd inching our way to the beach!) and circled for another 1/2 hour before getting lucky on a parking space. After discussing the particulars on ring size, metal, search area, etc, I started a pass through the sand. My first target was a nice gold ring sound, but, turned out to be a partial pull tab. (not a big surprise in this area). The second target was the same sound and  I.D. number (12-09 on my E-trac), but, was her ring. A happy Alyssa and another satisfying return. Ring lost at Mission Bay found

After returning from a trip out of state, I received a call the next morning from a distraught Mary who had lost both her wedding and engagement rings at either Mission Bay or Mission Beach. She had removed her rings and put them in a pocket for safe keeping while at the beach with her family. After several hours and a couple of different locations, she discovered they were missing from her pocket. They searched and even rented a metal detector, but, failed to find them. They talked with a kind woman that lived close by to where they were staying, who went online for help. TheRingFinders.com was recommended and they called me. I met Mary’s husband Conor at the beach by where they had rented a house for the week. They were on holiday from Ireland with their children and were supposed to leave that day, but, extended their stay hoping to find the rings before they had to leave. Conor took Mary and the kids to Sea World and then came to show me the search locations. They spent most of their time on the bay side beach, but, also had a short trek over to the ocean beach where Mary had to scale a sea wall…..another likely spot for those rings to jump out of a pocket. I started my search where they were sitting on the bay side beach while Conor went to the store and ATM. He hadn’t been gone for 2 minutes when I got a couple of great gold sounds a few inches apart right about where they had placed their beach chairs. Sure enough, the first target was the wedding band with the engagement ring a second later. It could have been a long afternoon as the search area just on this side was about the size of half a football field, and after two days had passed, it could have already been found by someone else. We got lucky this day.

When Conor returned, he saw me still detecting and figured I still hadn’t found them. I was actually just killing time until he returned. I pulled out the rings and asked if they looked familiar? He was initially dumbfounded and speechless, but, finally found his voice and thanked me profusely. The neighbor lady (sorry I didn’t get her name) saw us from her balcony and asked if we had any luck. Conor held the rings up and everyone cheered. Mary then called to check on the progress. Conor was going keep it a secret and surprise her by presenting her with the rings and a reproposal on bended knee at Sea World, but, then thought the better of it and told her they had been found. I could tell by her response that she was also overcome with emotion and had trouble getting the words out.  A pleasure to meet you Conor and with talking to Mary.
