Aziz called asking for assistance in recovering his dropped car keys. He was in quite the situation as this was his only set of car keys and his car could not be moved from the down town public parking space until he got his keys back or an expensive replacement from the lock smith. Having experience with Lake Union and knowing first hand how deep many of the docks can be even when close to the shore I knew this mission could easily turn into a SCUBA dive recovery. However having many recovery tools on hand I always try to find the most efficient methods possible.

As a first attempt I meet Aziz with my magnet fishing and fishing camera kit to see if we could recover the keys without having to make a dive. With Aziz having lost the keys the night before and having him in person to point out exactly where the keys went into the water I was confident that we may have a strong possibility of recovery on our first attempt. However that being said recovering anything with a magnet fishing kit can take a lot of patients and skill. Most times it is extremely disappointing especially when using a magnet without any kind of underwater camera system. Working blind with a magnet on a rope is often times a huge wast of time. Even with a camera system and having developed some experience doing this quite a few times its never a guarantee and more than once has turned into a SCUBA dive recovery in the end. The encouraging thing is I have many options at my disposal giving me the highest rate of recovery for items lost in the water. Honestly we don’t get them all back but a very high percentage of items are recovered and it all starts with a phone conversation about your specific situation. To add to this challenge the keys dropped though the dock slats and landed on the bottom of the lake at thirty feet deep.

Come along for an exciting underwater classic water recovery as we get Aziz back on the road of life with a smile on his face.

Lost Gold Bracelet recovered in Summerland CA.

  • from Santa Barbara (California, United States)
Lost Jewelry? How I Found a Gold Bracelet in Summerland, CA
If you’ve lost a ring or bracelet in Summerland or Montecito, CA, don’t despair! As an expert ring finder, I’ve recovered precious jewelry in even the toughest conditions. Here’s a story of how I located a valuable gold bracelet lost at The Well, a popular boutique in Summerland.
Just before Christmas, I received a call to find an expensive gold bracelet with diamonds lost during an evening event at The Well. The loss wasn’t noticed until the next day’s inventory, and the search was complicated by the boutique’s loose gravel grounds, raked daily before opening. To make matters worse, three days of heavy rain had flooded the greater Santa Barbara area, turning the gravel into a muddy mess.
With hundreds of items for sale at this busy Summerland shop, I knew my metal detector’s discrimination wouldn’t be enough. Instead, I relied on my trusty pinpointer, painstakingly searching the muddy gravel on hands and knees. Despite picking up every piece of metal in the ground, my persistence paid off. A strong signal led me to dig into the muck, and up came the stunning gold bracelet, diamonds intact!
I happily returned the bracelet to the store owner, who shared the good news with the relieved vendor. Another successful recovery in Summerland, CA!
If you’ve lost a ring, bracelet, or any jewelry in Summerland or Montecito, CA, I’m here to help. I’m Dave MacDonald, your local ring finder, with the skills and tools to reunite you with your treasured keepsakes. Mike called asking for assistance in recovering his lost 1969 Mercury 9.8 HP outboard engine. He was on his maiden voyage when it came loose from the transom and fell to the bottom of the Lake Washington. His recreational dive buddies attempted to locate the engine a day after the incident but were unable to locate it due to the overwhelming milfoil plant growth. Even after trying several of my suggestions it became a scheduled recovery many days later. We had an early start and showed up with everything but the kitchen sink. After trying several plans I eventually recovered the lost outboard with good old-fashioned determination using an expanding circle search fighting a massive amount of milfoil slowing the process down to a snails pace. However in the end we were successful and got Mike’s engine recovered from the lake.

Come along for an exciting underwater classic water recovery as we get Mikes outboard recovered back top side. Fortunately he had another friend that was on the ready to rehab the engine directly after the recovery for a full save! All in all a win for the environment and a win for Mike.

Snow Swallows A Ring In Calgary

  • from Cochrane (Alberta, Canada)

While walking the dog after our first significant snowfall of the year, he slipped and his ring disappeared. Three hours of unsuccessful searching resulted in nothing. Then he found me. The biggest concern was the large water drainage grate right where it happened. It could have gone down.

LOST 14k WHITE GOLD RING IN NEBO, NC…..FOUND!

  • from Fayetteville (North Carolina, United States)

Got a call this morning from a lady that had lost her 14k gold ring with some heirloom diamonds/sapphires that she had specially made. She lost it in Lake James near Charolette, NC. 3.5 hr drive (one way)

She lost it off a dock at a friends house. She was stepping down to get into her kayak when she grabbed the wire/cable of the ramp to the boat dock. As she grabbed it the cable caught the ring (it has a cut out in it) and pulled it off of her finger. She thought it had fallen straight down and bounced off her kayak on the right hand side of the ramp. After almost 5 hours of searching the right side I expanded and moved to the left side. After about 30 more mins I found her ring! It was a very choppy signal on the AT MAX I think because of the cut in the ring and the clay in the lake.

But I didn’t give up! She knew it was there and I wasn’t giving up until I found it. 5.5 hours later it was found and back on her finger where it belonged!

I managed to surprise her with the return too! Love making folks happy again when I find something they feared was lost forever.

LOST GOLD WEDDING RING SET IN RALEIGH, NC…… FOUND

  • from Fayetteville (North Carolina, United States)

Got a call from a gentleman that found me online. His wife had lost both of her wedding rings while taking pine straw from some bushes, dropping it as she worked in the cold weather.

At some point both of her rings slipped off her finger and into the pine straw/leaves and they couldn’t find them!

After arriving I found out it was two rings when I thought it was just one ring. About 30 mins later she had both rings back where they belonged!!

These are truly moments I live for!!

On Thanksgiving Day Tessa and her family were enjoying some fun and games in the backyard when her ring went flying! Here is the account in Tessa’s own words. “On Thanksgiving Day I lost my engagement ring in my aunt’s backyard while playing corn hole with my fiancee. Before I knew it my engagement ring flew off my finger. I originally thought it would be a matter of me looking around where we were playing and I would find it, but hours passed and even with the help of my family and neighbors we couldn’t find my ring. The sun was going down and we even borrowed a metal detector from a friend and scoured the backyard. After hours of searching, nothing but bottle caps had turned up. We decided to start again when the sun came up the next day. We were hopeless and devastated. A family member said to me that there are professionals who can help you find a lost ring. I wasn’t sure where to start but I knew it was worth a shot. First thing the next morning I did a Google search to try to find a solution. I searched “Metal detector service Orlando”. With it being the day after Thanksgiving I wasn’t sure if I would have much luck. I came across Mike McInroe of Theringfinders. Reading testimonials of other searches Mike completed made it seem to me that I had found the person who could help.

I called Mike’s cell and he made it to my aunts house within an hour and a half! He asked me to tell him exactly what I was doing and where I was when it happened. He scanned the area and found my ring IN FIVE MINUTES! My family looked on in disbelief! My lost ring had been found! I felt myself get emotional and asked Mike if I could hug him. Before I knew it my aunt and mom were both hugging him as well! Even my uncle started tearing up–we were just overwhelmed with so many emotions at once. But most of all, pure happiness! Mike was nothing short of heaven sent. Our family cannot thank him enough for his services. If you have lost something that means something to you don’t despair, give Mike a call”. Tessa.

What an honor and privilege it has been to help Tessa and her family. I thank God for allowing my the opportunity to help them and to give us all one more thing to be thankful for during this Thanksgiving season!

Found Grandfathers Ring in Livermore Colorado

  • from Fort Collins (Colorado, United States)

I received a call from Lisa in Livermore,CO saying that she had lost her grandfathers gold class ring and another silver ring in a horse pasture on her ranch. The ranch is up Highway 287 at the northern border just below the Wyoming State line. We arranged to meet the next day. When I arrived we talked and she told me how she and her grandfather were very close and how much the ring meant to her. We loaded up my gear in her truck and drove out to the pasture area. After parking we went through a gate and then walked about 500 yards out into the pasture, over small hills and around tall bushes. Lisa said she was working there, got hot and took off her coat and thinking she’d better not wear her rings, set them on the coat. Lisa stated that when she was finished working she just picked up her coat and started walking back to the truck. That’s when she realized her mistake.

I turned on my detector and Lisa pointed to the spot that she thought she had set her coat down with the rings on it.  The grass was long but laying down flat and thick. After about 10 minutes and two trash targets I hit a good solid repeatable signal. I gave Lisa the pin pointer and almost immediately she let out a scream. laid down flat on the ground face down and began to cry. We had found the gold class ring. After about a minute she stood up and hugged and thanked me. That was only one of two rings so I began searching again and hit another signal about 18 inches away from the first. That was the silver ring. Lisa said she had spent hours out there in the grass on her knees searching for those rings.

We made our way back to the ranch house and had some very welcome cold water. We sat and talked for about an hour before I headed home knowing we both had a great day.
