Gold wedding ring found and returned in Newport Beach

  • from Sunset Beach (California, United States)

Jenny texted me to ask if I could help find her Son’s ring in Newport Beach. It was after 8pm and I headed to the location right away. When I arrived I started gridding the area and after about 10 minutes I received a good signal and had the ring in my scoop.

So glad I could help recover another lost ring. The people I meet doing this is part of the allure.

Lost Gold Necklace Recovered Minnesota Metal Detecting

  • from Twin Cities Metro (Minnesota, United States)

Sam gave me a call and was wondering if theringfinders.com could help out when losing a gold necklace in 10 – 20 feet deep water, with a bunch of weeds and muck at the bottom. I said of course, we always give it our best shot no matter what. As most detectorists know, necklaces are very hard to find with a metal detector. Necklaces are thin and for some reason, they don’t register at all or are very faint. Sam knew the area he lost it in and he put me in a 25′ X 25′ area with a drop off from 8′ to 20′ deep. I made a plan to clean every piece of metal out of that area and then try to find the gold chain. It took me roughly one and half hours to clean it out and then I started my search. With no hits on the detector for 20 minutes, I received a faint hit. I went back over the area with my Excalibur detector and figured it was not just a false hit “we get a lot of false hits metal detecting.” I started to push my coil further down into the muck and zeroed in on the hit. After a little digging I felt something different in my hand than muck and weeds, I waved my hand in front of my detector and heard that nice deep tone of gold.  Another success story, which I love to write!!!!

Congrats on the necklace Sam, I know how important it is to you.

Take Care –

New Haven CT Channel 8 news meeting CT’s own Treasure Hunter August 2025

  • from Old Saybrook (Connecticut, United States)

I was asked to be interviewed by Ann Nyberg a celebrated and award-winning anchorperson for Channel 8 news in CT. We discussed my start in detecting 37 years ago, my membership in three CT clubs Nutmeg Treasure Hunters, Yankee Territory Coin shooters, and Southern New England Relic Hunters and most recently my membership in the @theringfinders,com organization. Ann asked my favorite find over the years and there’s been so many that it was hard to choose just one. But I chose a very meaningful one for me that was about a young boy losing his heirloom Grandfathers ring in the ocean and giving up hope until his mother contacted me and after three tries of narrowing the location where he had been playing catch in the ocean and using his hand drawn treasure map , I was able to locate the ring. His mother cooked a meal for our club, and we awarded the ring back that night and she honored me with a beautiful St Anthony medal.

Westerly CT Gold Nugget ring returned from the ocean at Misquamicut Beach July 2025

  • from Old Saybrook (Connecticut, United States)

A day on summer vacation for Rachel and Arthur a couple visiting from New Hampshire turned into chaos after he lost his special ring playing football with his nephew in the surf at Misquamicut beach. Arthur had earlier removed his ring so not to lose it during his football throwing activities with his nephew. But just before leaving , he put the ring back on his hand and made a few more passes. As accidents happen after one pass it ended up with the ring flying off his finger. Rachel had posted on social media and then heard about my recent recovery’s in the area from others on social media and contacted me to help. It was late in the day and getting dark. I asked my friend Gary Bonin a ring finder in Westerly to take a quick look before dark. He did not have good luck  because he could not isolate the optimal location to search in the dark. I responded the next morning at 6am and after asking Rachel several questions during a facetime, we narrowed down the location down to where the ring might have flown off his finger. After gridding the area I had a great signal that was  about 8 inches down and on the waters edge. Miraculously it turned out to be this amazing gold nugget ring. It was a sentimental gift from his mother when he graduated high school. The good news was their summer vacation ended up on a positive note and restored faith in humanity that prayer and people will help you. Rachel shared to importance of prayer with their children and I gave them a St Anthony medal to remember this vacation and the miracle that took place.

Lost Gold Ring Recovered Prior Lake Minnesota

  • from Twin Cities Metro (Minnesota, United States)

Elizabeth and her daughter were at a friends lake house, relaxing and hanging out on the dock. Her daughter jumped into the water and asked if Mom would join her. After a little back and forth, she decide to jump in for a dip. Elizabeth took her gold ring off for safe keeping, but she fumbled it a bit and it dropped straight through the deck boards into 9 feet of water. This ring was special as she melted down a couple of other rings to make one special ring with her daughters birth stone. They tried their best to recover it, though it was just too deep and soon it disappeared into the sandy bottom. Elizabeth searched the internet for help and came across theringfinders.com and contacted me. We discussed the scenario of what happened and set up a day & time for the search.  Liz’s daughter pointed out exactly where it should be, and she was right on the spot! Recovered in about 15 seconds. Thanks for your help.

Happy I could help out, it was nice meeting both of you – Take care.

LOST A RING?

DON’T WAIT

CALL JOHN

215-850-0188

I had just finished an engagement ring recovery in Ocean City, NJ. As I was packing up my gear, the phone rang. It was Annie, who had posted on Facebook that her daughter, Nia, had lost a sentimental gold cross on the beach while watching the sunrise. I told Jackie that I was only ten minutes away and offered to give it a try. Nia wasn’t sure exactly where the cross had come off, so I knew it might be a longshot. Undeterred, I headed to their location.

When I arrived, Nia gave me more details about where she had been sitting. With that information in mind, I started the search from the beach entrance and worked my way down towards the water. After crossing the entrance mat, I got a nice tone on my metal detector! I dug into the sand, and my heart raced as I saw the glint of gold. It was the cross! I called out to Nia, and as I handed her the cross, I could see the joy and relief in her eyes. She was so happy to have her beloved cross back. It was a great day in Ocean City, NJ, and I was thrilled to have made it a little brighter for Nia and her mom.

The Cross in the Sand Brigantine NJ

Juan had been looking forward to his weekend at Brigantine Beach for weeks. The sun was high, the ocean breeze perfect, and the wide stretch of sand made for the ultimate soccer field. With friends visiting from out of town, he kicked off his sandals and joined a fast-paced game near the dunes, laughter and shouts blending with the rhythm of the crashing waves.

But after a slide tackle into the soft sand, Juan sat up with a sinking feeling. He reached for his chest instinctively—his gold cross was gone.

The game came to a stop as everyone joined in the search, scanning the golden grains around the makeshift soccer area. Minutes stretched into an hour. Juan’s heart ached; he had worn that cross every day since he was young. It wasn’t about the gold—it was what it represented.

Defeated, with the joy of the day slipping away. That’s when someone nearby mentioned Ring Finders South Jersey—that John specialized in finding lost items on the beach using metal detectors. With nothing to lose, Juan made the call.

Within the hour, John with his metal detector in hand. Juan showed him the general area, and the search began. The beeping of the detector was like a heartbeat of hope.

Forty-five minutes later, the cross was found in the sand in Brigantine, NJ.
