Lost Wedding Band at Kahala Beach…………FOUND!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

I saw the following craigslist ad:

Men’s Wedding Ring Lost @ Kahala Beach (Honolulu)

Please help! I lost my wedding ring in the shallow water off Kahala Beach. It’s a white gold band, with a turquoise wrap, next to a Koa Wood wrap. I can offer a small reward of $25 for the honorable person who finds it and returns it to me. It’s a non-expensive ring valued at $50, but it has a lot of sentimental value to me. We were off 4771 Kahala Ave beach access. If you walk towards the ocean and you get to the beach, go left a little ways from the beach access, I lost it in the shallow water there. Mahalo!!

The surf finally settled down on the South shore so I took my daughter Korin and wife Wendy to the beach so I could take a shot at finding Sean’s Wedding ring. Kahala Beach has a lot of metal trash so my odds would be hampered trying to sort through the chatter. Sean gave good location data so I started my search at the beach access and worked to the left. My first target was a Dog named “Tucker” who lost his collar. That will be an easy return as it has two owner phone numbers. On the ninth leg of the grid search in waist deep water I got that tone and there was Sean’s beautiful ring. Now if he answers my craigslist reply we’ll get him his ring and a smile!!!

I finally got to meet Sean today at Kahala Mall to give back his ring. He told me he had just put sunscreen on and was paddling with his hands on a float when the ring popped off. He thought for sure he’d never see it again. I’m just glad it was in the sandy area versus the rocks which would have been nearly impossible. Smiles all around. Aloha to Sean!

Walnut Lake, Bloomfield Hills, MI yields wedding ring

Bryan S. called me Thursday and was looking for someone to help find his wedding ring that was lost while playing Nerf football on a sandbar at Walnut Lake. He explained that it was a private lake and that is where a lot of the boaters drop anchor and swim and play games. It is about 3 feet deep with an inch of silt and a clay base. He had marked the spot within a few feet of where the ring came off so it would be easier to locate. I told Bryan that I was going out of town Saturday but probably could get there in a week. He was concerned that the other boaters would disturb the area during the coming weekend. After rearranging my schedule and getting my brother Doug and my other detecting partner, Dave B. onboard to make the 2 1/2 hour trip across state, I texted Bryan and told him we will be there Friday morning at 11am.

Bryan was very pleased that we could make it as he had called another Ring Finder in Detroit but he didn’t have water equipment. Traci S., Bryan’s wife, thought the ring was a lost cause because they went out with a snorkel and hunted for several hours with no success.

Friday morning we packed our gear and headed East to Bloomfield Hills. When we arrived we met Bryan and showed us the private beach he docks his pontoon at and jumped aboard for the short trip across the beautiful picturesque lake that you only find in “Pure Michigan”. Bryan had marked the spot with a big log sticking up out of the water so we got into the waist deep clear water and in about 10 minutes we produced “juice!” and Bryans palladium wedding ring was back on his finger and we headed back to shore.

Because it only took a few minutes to find the ring Bryan invited us to detect some of the beach to see what we could find. We detected for 30 more minutes and gave the life guards the few coins we found and headed back to Grand Rapids, MI.

It’s funny Thursday night I opened a fortune cookie that we had left over from Chinese a couple of days before and it said “Something exciting was going to happen to you on Friday”. I guess it was finding the ring or maybe it was finally meeting Bannan Max the side car motor cycle riding boxer that I always see in passing but never met until today.

How To Find A Lost Ring On Kits Beach, Vancouver.

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

The other day I went to the beach at night to cool off & relax and of course do some metal detecting. I started searching where all the people hang out by the logs during the day, there were some partiers still out there at midnight and one of my treasure hunting friends showed up so I headed to the other side of the beach away from the young kids. I was finding the coins and a ton of bottle caps then I found a silver ring. I could see the 925 stamp inside the band so I put it in my pouch and carried on.

When I got home early in the morning and after a couple of hours of sleep I was on my computer and I checked out the craigslist to find an ad about a lost silver wedding band with a great drawing of the location the ring was lost…I knew  it was the ring I found. So I sent a picture of the ring and said I think I found your ring…The phone rang minutes later and the young lady couldn’t believe that I found it. She was so excited and told me that she wasn’t going to tell here husband she was going to surprise him. They only got married two months ago and he was very sad!

How to Find a Lost Ring on the Beach in Branford, CT?

  • from Westerly (Rhode Island, United States)

I received a very worried call around noon regarding a lost diamond ring in the sand. After already calling the local police and fire departments, the urgency in the caller’s voice was apparent. Within hours of receiving the call, I was able to reunite the diamond wedding band with its owner!

The summer is in full swing and beachgoers are losing their personal belongings. Local police and fire departments are busy saving lives, and I am busy reuniting people with their lost belongings. If you or someone you know has lost a sentimental item and thought it was gone forever, give me a call, and we’ll figure out how to find it.

Metal Detecting Searcher Joins Search for Dangerous, non-Valuable Knife, Centerville, Cape Cod, MA

  • from Cape Cod (Massachusetts, United States)

A first for my list of many searches started when a kitchen knife was dropped into a lake where children swim. Fearing that one might step on it and cut their foot a hunt was started. It needed to be found. I joined in on the second day of searching. Within a half an hour the owner, who was new to detecting and also metal detecting, found the sharp blade.

We both learned form this experience. Peace of mind is very valuable and that being successful at metal detecting requires persistence and knowing what the detector is relaying to you.

There was no real smile to photograph, just the knife. Yes, the owner was very appreciative and thankful for my help that I gladly gave.

Son Flounders in Water, Father Grabs for Son and Looses Wedding Band, Falmouth, Cape Cod, MA

  • from Cape Cod (Massachusetts, United States)

This happens very often and then panic sets in. Where is the ring, I felt it fall off but I can’t find it.

Thank the social media for the service they provide. A search for how to find a ring on Cape Cod led Ami to my e-mail address. She reached out for help and I responded. At the next day’s low tide we met and started the search. About 20 minutes into the search, the ring was found and quickly put back where it belonged, on Ryan’s finger. In 17 days it was Ami and Ryan’s 5th anniversary, I hope they have many Happy Anniversaries!

Lost Wedding Ring .. Newport Beach, CA. .. Found in Sand

Thursday  6-25-15

Paul works as a instructor for Hurley Surf Camp. His office is on the sand in Newport Beach, CA. Every week day they set up a large beach awnings in the dry sand, mostly in the same general location.
Wednesday after returning home Paul could not find his wedding band in his backpack. He keeps it in the back pack for safekeeping while teaching clients to surf. He was not sure but he thought it could have fallen out during the day when he got things from his backpack.
I was able to get to his location within 30 minutes. Paul was in the water but another instructor was able to show me the general area. After covering most of the location, I received a signal that was broken. TheTDI reading on my detector was close to a penny reading. I dug the signal figuring it may be two separate pieces of metal. No, just Paul’s nice 14k gold wedding band. It’s always good to remember the 14k gold is 60% pure and 40% alloy making the TDI readings different depending on the alloy and the size of the ring.
Paul was surprised and grateful. As I left the beach, I heard him telling other people on the beach about TheRingFinders.

Lost Platinum and Gold Wedding Ring Malibu, CA…Found.

I was having breakfast this morning when I received a call from Pam. She asked if could help her find her husband’s wedding band. They were having a party Friday July 3rd in their backyard when her husband wanted to go for an ocean swim (their property backs up right to ocean). Their backyard is set up like a beach surrounded by a deck with lots of beach sand, beach chairs, and even beach balls. Pam’s husband put all of his important belongings including his ring  into his hat on a table on the deck so he would not lose them. What happened next was that Pam moved the hat, not realizing the items were inside, and flung them into their beach backyard. They had done some serious searching. I could see the lines in the sand showing how they had dragged the sand for the ring, but with no results. I am glad they found me, as I was free to go today and search for them.

When I got there, as I said I could see the drag marks in the sand, and Pam explained to whole loss process to me. It is so good to have someone know exactly what happened, and remember how the loss took place, to make it easier to help them. I got my detector ready, and in about 20 seconds had the ring in my scoop. It was then Pam and I talked about my time with The Ring Finders. We were going through my book of smiles when she offered up that they had been married for 3 years, and today was their anniversary; HOW GREAT IS THAT!? What a great day. What a great smile.

If you lose your ring or other metal item of value, call as soon as possible. I will work hard to help you find what you thought might never be found again. I search,  Beverly Hills, Hermosa Beach, Huntington Beach, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Malibu, Manhattan Beach, Newport Beach, Rancho Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach, Santa Monica, Seal Beach, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Torrance, Venice Beach, and all parks, yards, gardens, and ponds (to 5 foot depths) in all of Orange County, all of Los Angeles County, and Ventura County.

Lost Ring at Playa Del Rey Beach, CA…Found.

  • from Redondo Beach (California, United States)

20150705_14255220150705_134142

We had just gotten home about 10:00 PM from watching a great fireworks show on the Fourth of July, when I checked my messages, and saw that I had received a call from Ryan. I called back, and he told me how he was playing volleyball at the beach, and when ready to leave realized his ring was missing. This ring had a lot of sentimental value to him, because he had received it from his stepfather who had passed away. He had played both sides of the court, and also had been in an area outside the court where the loss may have occurred. Knowing the critical issue of time we arranged to meet right after we hung up. I arrived at the spot about 12:30 AM, and Ryan showed me the area. I began my search, and about 5 minutes into it I heard a thump, and then a BOOM right over my head. Someone had shot off a mortar not 60 feet from where I was searching. Not expecting that I jumped, but as soon as I realized it was some late partying I was good with the fireworks that kept coming. I searched the whole area for a little more than an hour getting a few coins , but without hearing the ring. I told Ryan I might come back and try again, but he seemed a bit resigned to fact that he might not see it again.

It wasn’t until I got home I realized why I was not able to find his ring when I read his description of the ring. Although I was using a state of the art multi-frequency VLF machine, it was not going to hit on a broken ring, if it would hear it at all. Ryan’s description said the ring had an opening, when I saw that, I knew I was going to use my PI machine and go back the next day. After I found a ring for Miguel in Santa Monica, I headed back over to Playa Del Rey to look again for Ryan’s ring. I had to wait until a group of people were finished playing on the court to start my search. It then took me about 5 minutes to find his ring. I then sent a text message with only the picture of the ring above, no words. The text I received back from him was YES!!! He was amazed that someone he did not know would go back and look for his ring. It was great to see his joy.
