I was called by Kelli C. Friday asking me to find her ring that was lost last spring while doing some yard work. I told her we (Me, Dave B and my brother Doug) would be out Saturday morning to search for her ring. She had mentioned that her yard was 3 acres and her house was over 100 years old and that anything we found besides the ring we could keep.

We arrived at the house at 10:30 and met Jim C., Kelli’s husband, Jim explained that Kelli was up north buying chickens at a poultry festival. Kelli, now known as the chicken lady, raises chickens for pets and eggs with a few ducks added in. We began detecting the yard which Kelli marked for us where she thought the ring might be. The grounds were peppered with aluminum nuggets, like they were melted into balls and other junk metal pieces. We searched for about an hour and a half before Kelli got home then we introduced ourselves while she unloaded the 3 new chickens she bought. I had the privilege of holding 2 of them and taking them to the pen. They were like petting an angora kitten, very soft and silky and loved to be held. (see picture). We searched for another couple of hours, for as old as the house was there was very little coins found and nothing old. We turned everything over to Kelli. My brother Doug did find a pair of sterling silver ice tongs that Kelli lost 4 years ago and that was the find of the day and made Kelli very happy. Meeting Jim and Kelli was a real privilege, they are a great couple. Maybe we will come out for another search but the 2 1/2 hour trip makes it hard to arrange.  I will put this on my list of “needs to be found at another time”.

Megan saw my ad on Craig’s list and contacted me with the sad story of losing her ring the day before at a small beach on Camp Pendleton. She had removed the ring to keep it from getting scratched in the sand. Yup, it ended up in the sand anyway! It was about a 45-60 minute drive each way to the location so I got on my way as soon as I could.

When I arrived, I called Megan and met with her at the little cove next to her rented bungalow.  She showed me where she had been sitting down by the waters’ edge. I turned on my detector and in maybe 10 seconds, it get a good “Gold” signal. Sure enough, it was the ring! I wish all recoveries could be that quick and easy. Megan was quite relieved and overcome with emotion as she hadn’t slept the night before worrying about the ring. I received cheers from the other people on the beach and a big hug from Megan. I guess I should have waited for her to recover  a bit more before taking the photo of her holding it! Believe me, she was one of the happiest people I’ve had the pleasure of helping. Thank you for the reward.

Lost wedding ring in Shakopee Minnesota – Found by the ring finders.

I was conducting an underwater scuba search for a lost wedding ring. As usual, I will find many different items on my searches. I was approx. 25 feet deep in an area that was sandy, though under the thin layer of sand was a foot of muck. My detector made a strong sound, I knew it was either a coin or a ring by the tone. Digging in muck really clouds the water and makes it very difficult to recover items. I was trying to clear the area by waving clear water into my hole and I caught a glimpse of this large gold ring. It wasn’t what I was looking for, though it was a nice to see! I cleaned the ring up and got a closer look, it was 1950 St. Thomas Academy Jostens Class Ring. 18 Grams of 10K Gold. The next day I started my search online and it only took me about 5 Minutes to find the name that went with the initials sketched in the ring. I found out he was living in Fort Worth Texas and is now 82 years old. I contacted him and he was quite surprised to say the least. He couldn’t remember the exact lake he had lost the ring in, though he remembered losing it the summer he bought it in 1950.

The ring is now on it’s way to it’s rightful owner. Congrats and I’m glad I could help out in recovering your lost valuable.
