Quad Platinum Diamond Rings Lost .. Balboa Pier, Newport Beach, CA. .. Found

I was returning a ring to Silvia near Los Angeles international airport when Janie called. She had dropped her rings in the sand while watching a junior lifeguard graduating ceremony on the beach near the Balboa Pier, Newport,CA. I asked her a couple questions and she told me the three platinum diamond rings had been on a towel when she had been rushed to move about 20ft.
I told her to guard the location. I’d be there within an hour. Janie told me the beached was packed with people, she thought it would be a few hours before I could swing a metal detector. I just assured her that the rings should be safe in the sand but don’t tell people what was lost. Definitely don’t leave if you’re able to stay.
I arrived and was able to double grid search the area she believed the rings to be. Nothing showed up, she told me she believed that somebody may have picked them up. I believed that maybe one ring should still be in the sand. There were so many people at this event that these rings were stepped on pushing them out of sight. I had to tell her that the rings were not in the area she believed them to be. I would come back in about an hour to do a larger area after all the people left the beach. Janie was very upset and the only thing I could tell her was I will try again.
I returned to a very empty beach. After a half hour searching 30 feet away from the original location the first small platinum ring showed up in my scoop. Then a few feet from there two more rings. Just out of habit I swung my search coil over the whole area again. Boom, baby!! The big one, I now know why Janie was so distraught. It was a beautiful ring. She told me 3 platinum rings but there were 4 rings total. It was a surprise to me because I didn’t know exactly what I was looking for. I probably wouldn’t have left the area of the loss, usually it’s no big deal to standby for an hour or two for people to leave. I did start to believe that it may have been possible for somebody to have picked the rings off the towel before she had to move. It gets to be a mental game sometimes, very easy to get negative and give up. I try not to let my head run away with negative thoughts. Sorry I didn’t get a photo of Janie.. Just believe me, she was very happy to have here sentimental keepsakes back where they belong.

Another ring found at Holland State Park, Michigan

This time the ring was lost on the beach.  Brittany had taken her ring off, placing it in her beach bag for safe keeping while she played with her kids in the water.   But when she reached home the ring was gone.   She went back the next day to look for it, but had no success.

Metal detecting hunters search that beach daily, so hunting partner Gregg Larabel and I weren’t optimistic about finding the ring when we made the trip to the park three days later.  It was really helpful that Brittany had provided us with pictures from their day at the beach, enabling us to pinpoint the exact spot where she had been sitting.  We started a grid of the area, and after 2 passes I found the ring about 10 feet from the sign post shown in her photo(below).

We gave Brittany a call and since she had just finished work nearby she said she would meet us in the parking lot.  She arrived with her mother and father, and Gregg showed her some of the junk we had found.  Her comment was “It’s ok, thank you for your help in trying to find my ring.”   I then said, “and I also found this” and showed her the ring.  Her face lit up like the sun and she had hugs for both Gregg and me.  Mother and father also got out of the car and joined in the celebration.

Lost White Gold Ring Found Underwater in Lake Erie, Newport, Estral Beach, Michigan

Got a call a week ago that a newly married guy was out fishing with some buds on Lake Erie and as they were bringing the boat back to shore in his ring slipped off. Wife of course was livid! Lake Erie can get quite rough at times and that’s what he was saying it was when he rented an ace 150 with no luck and those are good units but not waterproof. He doubted it could be found because it was out there for 2 weeks. He said it was roughly waist high water and I laughed cos when I met him out there he was quite tall so like his waist was at my chest almost my neck lol (everyone’s taller than me!) So being a private beach and no one else knew about the loss I figured we had a better chance of finding the ring.
We started at sunrise Wednesday morning and as we were walking to the beach the foliage was quite attractive and reminded me of being on an island. As the canopy opened up and as we were getting into the water he was good at remembering the area. I got a linear hit which produced a 6 foot copper pipe. Continuing my grid search and running 0 disc I got a soft signal. The water clarity was near opaque and I usually go barefoot during water searches as I can feel what the item is when I get a hit. The sand was compact so I knew if it was in this area it was just under the surface of the sand bottom. So I felt with my foot as I moved it around on the bottom that the object was round so I thought well its probably a bottle cap but those are usually louder. So I dig it all out in the water so it didn’t matter anyway. Placing my foot at back of coil and scooping forward with my 5′ handle scoop I got nothing, so I swept the coil again and redid scoop procedure and up came this gorgeous white gold band at chest high water depth.

Our ring finder client saw it first in the scoop as the water washed away and he went wild and I said is this the ring?! YES he exclaimed as we high fived!

SO not a bad hunt total search time 20min!

Forked Run state park beach, another men’s wedding band found

Of course I had to take my metal detector with us on or family vacation to the beach. Long story short, I found a child’s costume ring and a men’s wedding band. No one at the beach nearby had lost it so I placed an ad in the Outer Banks Craigslist lost/found. The owner has yet to be found. The ring was found around 6/23/16. Anyone know of anyone who lost a men’s wedding band before that date please let me know!

 

8/5/2016 I headed to Forked Run state park to hunt the sandy area of the beach. I decided to use my Garrett AT Pro in the water at the beach and see what’s out there. A few coins, a costume pendant and a men’s wedding band was found. I took the wedding band to the campground check in and filled out a lost/found tag and turned it in to the park ranger. Hopefully the rightful owner will show up and claim it. Finding these items are fun but nothing is more enjoyable than reuniting them with the owners. Steve

White Gold Diamond Wedding Ring Lost .. Crystal Cove State Beach, Newport Beach, CA. .. Recovered with Metal Detector

Patrick sent me a text message, asking if I was available to help him find his wife’s white gold diamond wedding ring. Silvia had taken her ring off to apply sunscreen three days before while at Crystal Cove State Beach, Newport Beach, CA.
She was not sure if she had put her rings back on after finishing the sunscreen application. In fact she was sure that her ring had to be in their car or at the house. No need to worry her husband Patrick, she believed it would show up. It was now three days after the loss, so Patrick thought it might be worth at try to call me to ask if I was available to try checking the beach where they had been that past Sunday.
I jumped at the chance to give it a try. That particular beach doesn’t have beach grooming machines and it is a little difficult to get to, so it isn’t hit by very many detectorists. I may have to wait for people to leave the beach which is not a big deal.
My first chance to search, I got a really nice yellow gold ring with a big diamond. I called Patrick to verify that I was looking for a white gold wedding band. Checking the first ring for markings, I could make out “made in China” engraved inside ( bummer).
Patrick had sent me very good photos and approximate footage they were from a cement footing. Bingo, the petite wedding band was exactly where he had described. I met Silvia the next day at a halfway point between my place and where they live. Patrick didn’t have to leave work which is another thing I try to do to help families in this crazy economy. It was a pleasure inter reacting with Patrick to find this ring. I bet we had 20 texts messages. I love the technology that makes this all possible.image

Lost wedding band at Sunset Beach, Vancouver…Found!

I got a call mid day asking if I could help find a lost ring at the beach, I asked my normal questions in regards to where it was lost and there was two places it could be… one was the volleyball court and the second place was the ocean. It was a hot day so I kinda was hoping it was in the ocean so I could cool down but after 30 minutes or so I found the ring in the volleyball court!

I love the reaction when the young man and his wife when I found the ring! He told me he was in the dog house for loosing his ring after only being married for 3 weeks so he was very happy to have it back!

Unfortunately I lost the footage of this recovery and I’m so bummed as they were so happy to get the ring back and their reactions were priceless…Something I’ll never forget.

I love the stories of the rings I find for people and how much it means to them to find it. I have the greatest job of all I get to make people smile!

LOST RING IN SOUTH KINGSTOWN RI POND…RECOVERED

On Sunday afternoon, I received a call from Brian, who had lost his wedding band in Barber Pond.  He explained that he had been playing with his daughter in about knee-deep water, when he saw his ring fall into the water.  Hidden by silt which clouded the water, the ring soon disappeared into the sand.  Brian, his wife, and friends searched but couldn’t find the ring.  That’s when Brian consulted the internet and found me on theringfinders.com.  I met Brian at a small parking area near the lake.  After a ten minute walk through the woods, the path opened to a beautiful little beach on the pond.  It would have been a lot more pleasant had it not been 95 degrees and very humid.  Fortunately, I was able to recover the ring in about 45 minutes.  Brian was a very happy young man!

Wedding Band Found Meadowlark Community Center, Edmonton Alberta

Received a call from Daniel yesterday afternoon asking if I could help him find his lost gold wedding band which he lost on Saturday while playing soccer with friends,  meet Daniel at the park and he showed me the location where he and his friends searched for the ring for a few hrs with no luck. After searching the area  and a couple of more area which Daniel  thought the ring could have fallen off, I backed up and thought for a minute and looked at the first original area and asking questions also by just watching Daniels body language I said to my self that the ring Has to be near by. I expanded the search area from the original spot, after 2.5 hrs searching the area  I found his Ring 30 feet from the original spot , Just goes to show if you can’t find the ring at that area expand the search area. Another happy client. Thank you Daniel for the generous Reward.

Lost Ring in Westport Connecticut Pond… Recovered on SCUBA!

A men’s wedding band was lost during a swim in a residential pond in Westport, CT. The gentleman was going for his very first dip on his recently acquired property. Just three strokes into the swim he felt the unsettling slip of his wedding band off his finger. Although a stunning pond, the visibility underwater was zero, and over a foot of leaf litter has been building up on the bottom since the 1970s when the pond was constructed. To further complicate things, the depth of the pond was around seven feet in some areas. Just in case the ring settled in one of the deeper areas, I decided this was going to be a SCUBA recovery. Thirty minutes into the search we located the ring and notified the owner. This ring was recovered thanks to my friend Jon and our underwater metal detection equipment.

Recovering a lost item in water deeper than head high can be dangerous due to the potential unknowns of the underwater environment. Additionally, the learning curve involved in using metal detection equipment underwater can be steep. Stay safe and limit any frustration by contacting someone with experience in both of these.

Diamond / Platinum Engagement Ring Recovered

Received a call this evening around 9pm for a engagement ring that was lost in the surf around 3:30pm this afternoon. After a brief conversation and a check of the tide tables and radar I decided that this evening would be the best shot considering the rings potential location, crazy strong current on this particular beach, and the fact that I had to travel out of town for most of the day tomorrow. Met up with the caller and her friends and headed down towards the water. Of course as soon as we began making our way down the beach a squall blew in, lol. Began searching the wet sand near the water and then began making my way into the surf. After about 15 minutes I got a nice deep signal and out came this beautiful platinum / diamond engagement ring. These folks may have been the most excited group I have ever come across to date. All in all, the drive over took longer than the recovery, about 15 minutes to get it in the scoop. Another happy client
