Tipsico Lake, Holly, Michigan men’s wedding ring recovered

I got a call from Walt Z. yesterday July 9. He was at his friends house on Tipsico Lake reliving their early days trying to dunk a basketball out of 3 feet of water. While coming up for a dunk Walt felt his ring come off and it was gone under 3 inches of sand before he could react to catching it. After searching for the ring for a while Walt gave up and looked up a ring finding service. Dave Boyer, my Ring Finder partner, and I arrived at the house around 11:30 am and began the search. The water was clear and the bottom was sandy with a hard pack underneath the sand. Dave decided to watch as the area was about 10′ x 10′ so I began a grid search based on where Walt thought the ring might be. Walt was pretty accurate as to where he thought it was and I came up with his ring in a few minutes after the search began. It was raining all morning so we got wet in and out of the water. Walt’s wife, Shellie, has a blog for women and said she was going to post the ring recovery on her blog. So the question remains, did Walt make his slam dunk?

I received a call at 7am from Katlin apologizing for the early call. It is important to me to get a call as soon as possible, even a half hour can make a difference between a successful or unsuccessful search for losses on So.Calif. beaches.
The caller ID showed the the phone number was a Massachusetts number. Katlin was calling from her friends phone because she lost her iPhone the night before in the sand. I held my breath hoping it wasn’t a location across town. When I asked her where the phone was lost, she told me Newport Dunes Resort. Perfect, I live within 2 blocks from where she knew it had dropped in some soft sand.
Smart phones hold a lot of personal information but this loss so important because it had Katlin’s credit card and her photo ID. She would need all these for her flight home the next day. We met on the beach a half hour later. The security guard asked what we were doing and sarcastically said good luck. She put me right in the general area. Ten minutes later Katlin had her iPhone with all her important cards. I made it a point to show the security guard that we did have good luck.
It was a pleasure to help Katlin find her phone and to hear how she didn’t know our service existed until she googled lost iPhone in the sand.

Gold Wedding Ring Lost in San Fernando Valley, CA Backyard…Found and Returned.

I received a call from a young lady yesterday who explained that her husband lost his ring in the backyard. I had been waiting for a call back from someone, so I arranged to meet on the next day. The person did not call back, so I called them back and said that I could go immediately. They told me that it had been late at night, and the husband had been taking the ring off and putting it back on when he dropped it on the deck. When the ring hit the deck it was too dark to see, but they heard it roll to the edge, and then it was gone. They had searched that night, and then hours the next day to no avail.

When I got to their house, I was led to the backyard, and shown a nice new deck that had been built over a very steep hillside. I began my search at the top working around some metal that had been there. and then working down the hillside. I worked as much of the hill that I believed could have caught the ring on a downhill roll, but just came up with nothing but deck screws and nails, with the occasional beer can. I felt that I had completed a thorough search, but did not find the ring, so I went back to the deck, and sat in the area of the loss, contemplated and discussed the loss again with the husband and wife, that is when the wife said she thought it might be right where I began my search. I decided to remove the wires that were there, even though I did not know what they were attached to. As soon as I removed them the husband said that’s it, and I saw the slight glimmer of gold peeping out of the dirt from under where the wires had been. I removed the ring and carefully replaced the wires, with shouts of joy coming from them both. They asked that I did not identify them, but I will say they were very happy that the ring was found, and I will vouch for their smiles. It was explained to me that their rings had been sent to Brazil to be blessed by a priest before the wedding, and specially engraved, so how do you replace that? Another great day!

10K Class ring RECOVERED!

Received a call on July 5th for a lost class ring. The client was very helpful by noting landmarks and tide position. Met the client at the beach the next afternoon, in the rain,  and was able to recover the ring from waist deep, moderately angry surf in about 15 minutes.

Received a call July 3rd for a lost gold wedding band that was dropped in the surf on July 2nd in the afternoon. After about an hour long hunt I was able to recover the 16 yr old band. Client, as well as his wife, was thrilled to have his band back on his finger!

Gold wedding band successfully recovered!

Was tagged in a FB post last Saturday afternoon regarding a wedding band that was lost on the beach. After returning home from a week long vacation I spoke with the client regarding the details and suspected area the ring was dropped. Took the new Whites 300id out for its first recovery as my “go to” unit is out for some repairs and was able to recover the ring in knee deep, low tide, water.

Mens Wedding Ring Lost & Found On Studland Beach, Dorset

Liam Russell & family from Frome, Somerset visited Studland Beach in June, attracted by the gentle sea & the almost white fine sand. The sand though, like many other ring losses proved yet again though – ‘drop it & its gone’!

In the past I have recovered rings whereby people have thoughtfully removed them, left them in a shoe or placed on a T Shirt only to be dropped later into the sand. This was such a case. These are easy recoveries as we know where they are but often sink deeper after people attempt to recover them themselves.

My worry was that it had been 24 hours since the loss & in an area often scoured by beach combers. Fortunately the ring had sunk sufficiently enough to lay undetected & recovered after about 10 minutes.

Liam was very eager to be reunited with the ring & drove all the way to my work to collect it. He was very grateful & kindly made a donation to Margret Green Animal Sanctuary.

Lost wedding ring, Flagler Beach, Florida…..Found!

Tiger gave me a call after loosing his wedding ring in the sand at the beach. He could hardly believe that his ring just fell off of his finger so easy like! It all happened the day before as he and a friend were throwing the football just along the waters edge. As he went to catch the football, apparently the point of the ball hit him right on his ring finger and the impact knocked his ring right off into the sand. It all happened so fast that he did not see the exact direction his ring went flying, but he had the presence of mind to stop and take note of a few land marks. (That quick thinking would be a huge help to him in the end.) He searched the area as best as he could and even contemplated renting a metal detector but as he typed into Google…Flagler Beach metal detector rental…up came one of theringfinders stories about a recent successful lost ring search. So Tiger figured what better way to go, then to hire someone who has the equipment and experience to help him find his lost ring. Two hours later we met on the beach and Tiger showed me the small area where he was standing when he lost his wedding ring. I set out four corner flags and searched the small area anxiously awaiting that sweet, familiar signal. My first signal was a crusty penny and that got Tiger and his wife’s hearts racing! Nothing else showed up in the marked off area so I made a pass around the outside and there in the wet sand, with the water washing over my scoop, was Tiger’s lost ring. I quietly thanked God for helping me find their precious ring and could not help but smile to see the joy and happiness on their faces. Vacation time

Grand Falls, MO

We went out to Missouri to visit family. Of course, any vacation should have a metal detector available. I took my AT Pro. It does a nice job for land/shallow water. My son and I checked out Grand Falls. It’s a beautiful place with some interesting history. We also spent a couple of hours at a beach near Branson, and I checked out a park in Galina. We found the usual stuff like fishing weights, pull tabs, bottle caps, bits of jewelry, and clad coins. Another interesting thing we did was detect near an old stump next to my son’s house. Before air conditioning and hundreds of channels on TV, people spent more time outside, under & around shade trees. We ended up finding old keys, coins, and other fun artifacts from the past. I would like to try some old trees on property which has a longer history.

Wedding Ring Lost at Santa Monica Beach, CA…Found and Returned

I got a call today from Jeanette this afternoon regarding her husband John’s wedding ring. He had been applying sunscreen, and stood up, shook his hand, and felt his ring slip off of his finger. The sand was real dry and soft, which made the ring disappear before he could see it’s trajectory. They searched, but the sands had it in their grip, and were not letting go. I told her I would be there as soon as I could. We have had some pretty warm weather lately so I knew traffic and parking near the beach would be difficult.

When I got there I had to park 1/2 a mile away, so I broke out my Segway Mini Pro to get me to the location with little effort. When I met them they showed me what had happened, and I began my search. It took a couple of minutes before I received the right signal, put in my scoop, and missed it the first time. The second scoop went in, and there was John’s ring. It had flown behind him a few more feet than he had thought, which happens all the time. That is why we have to think and work out of the box, or draw outside of the lines so to speak. It was great to have been a help today.
