Extremely valuable diamond wedding ring almost ends up in landfill…FOUND!!

  • from Walnut Creek (California, United States)

Michelle contacted me on the morning of the 24th.  A ring had been lost in a kitchen during a dinner party that Monday. Despite extensive searching by the family, and a plumber the ring had not been located.  Would I be willing to assist?

Always up for the task, I agreed to meet her at the home later that afternoon.  Not knowing what I might be facing I brought all manner of tools; my trusted metal detector, a video endoscope, long reach recovery tools, a selection of hand tools, etc.

I arrived to meet Michelle promptly at our agreed upon time.  As it turns out Michelle is a fun, positive thinking individual who serves as a personal assistant for our client (who wishes to remain anonymous).  Michelle told me a bit more about the back story and showed me a photo of the ring, a real Bobby Dazzler!

Garbage pick-up would be the next morning and the two of us decided that clearing the trash bins should be the priority task.  We emptied the trash onto a tarp and attempted to use the metal detector to search, however the plethora of metallic objects within the trash rendered the detector useless.  This would have to be a hands and eyes search.

Michelle and I kept a positive attitude during our less than appealing task and even shared a few laughs while searching.  We cleared 1 trash bin, and on to the next.  Just when we reached the last of the trash bags to search, I tore open a bag, stuck a nitrile gloved hand into it, and that’s when I saw the flash…we had made the recovery!

This recovery was a good reminder to me that although I have invested in a lot of special technology and tools, these are not always what is needed.  Sometimes what is required is just good old fashioned search techniques, persistence, and a positive attitude.  It also brings up another factor, seek help and call early.  Less than 18 hours later this very valuable ring could have made it’s way to a waste station or landfill and that would have been a real tragedy.

Ending on a positive note, I was very happy that the ring was recovered and to take part in the new legacy and story of this cherished item.

Jill and her friends were relaxing on the beach in Sea Isle City, NJ when she put her engagement ring in her beach chair for safekeeping. As the tide came in, the beach chair was moved back up to the dry sand. It wasn’t until everyone was back at the house that she realized her ring wasn’t on her finger. She called me and explained the details of how it was lost. I decided to start searching with the metal detector by the water. A few minutes later, I went over the ring and scooped it up.

*** Lydia and  her husband are here in Newport Beach on Vacation. They will be returning to Colorado in a couple days. She lost a very small thin white gold and rose gold wedding ring in the sand.

While they were searching the sand, when person saw them desperately searching the sand. They told her about the Ringfinders metal detector directory. After searching the internet, Lydia contacted me. I explained how the service works and she said they would wait for me on the beach.

I arrived soon at their location, after agreeing to help them. As I was setting up my metal detector, I gave them a short explanation on how the detector works. Then I started a grid pattern, slowly sweeping my search coil. I knew it was a small thin gold ring, so it required setting up my sensitivity as high as possible. Not long after starting I got  a whisper of a signal in my earphones. A quick dig with my sand scoop revealed a thin two colored ring just like Lydia described.

They were very surprised and happy to have this special ring back where it belongs. Another successful recovery for two very special people to remember as part of their vacation to Newport Beach, CA.

Two rings recovered at Wrightsville beach NC. And returned

  • from Hillsborough (North Carolina, United States)
Contact:

This is the story of how two lost rings were recovered and returned to the owner thanks to three of us detectorist working together to find them. Paulie who started the search and how David and myself became involved to make this recovery possible. This is the words best describing the search by Paulie.

RINGS FOUND: Sorry it’s taken me a couple of days to get this story out..Not sure how to begin but as you can see from this post is how it pretty much began..I set out on Tues after work in search of these 2 missing rings..I had messaged Eva Pecora and asked her where she thought she lost them and started there.I made a grid pattern making sure to cover most of the area for about an hour with no luck..While I was searching I noticed a fellow detectorist coming up the beach it was Michael Gaskin a fellow I’ve talked to before..he had asked what I was up to told him what I was looking for and he decided to help me for a bit..I had started to wander away from him when all the sudden out of nowhere he asked about the gold ring did it have an emerald surrounded by 6 diamonds??? Wait what!?!? How did he know exactly what the ring looked like?? He had talked to another guy about a 1/2 hr before he saw me and the guy had found the gold ring the day before and was telling Michael about it(what are the chances)We immediately went to my car to get my phone and look at the picture..He said yep that’s it we have to find him..we never did but knew we had the gold ring found!!I contacted Eva and let her know what was up and that we were going to find the guy with her ring no matter what..I went home Mike stayed the night to look for the silver ring low and behold he ended up finding it at about 4am the next morning about a 1/10 of a mile away from where it was lost(incredible) he sent me the pic! That morning I texted Eva and told here about the Silver ring and put her in touch with Mike…that day Wednesday Mike stayed around to look for the guy with the Gold ring I was joining him after work to help search for him…I went one way Mike went the other in about an hour Mike found him and informed him of the situation regarding the ring he found..he was reluctant at first I don’t blame him but with a picture and the owner on the phone it was a giveaway that it was indeed the ring..45 minutes later Mike was on his way to pick up the ring..That night Mike drove the rings to Eva in Raleigh and he went home to HallsBoro sp?? I also would like to add that Eva received her lost rings that were passed down by her grandfather on his Birthday…♥️

Lost Diamond Ring, Wildwood, New Jersey, RECOVERED!

  • from Cape May (New Jersey, United States)
Last evening I received a call from Eric and Kristin. The couple explained that they believe that Kristin’s wedding ring had fallen out of her bag while they were at the beach yesterday. The couple wasn’t exactly sure as to when the ring fell out but the were fairly certain that it happened while they were on the beach and it may have tumbled out when they removed their cell phone from the bag that the ring was stored in. I met up with the couple this morning. After being shown the general area I managed to recover the ring in about 25 minutes. They were ecstatic as this ring had been passed down thru the family for several generations. #lostring, #wildwood, #lostringandjewelryrecoveryservice, #jerseyshore, #capemaynj, #capemaycounty, #lostandfound, #wildwoodcrest, #weddingrings, #theringfinders

Lost Ring, Cape May, New Jersey, RECOVERED!

  • from Cape May (New Jersey, United States)

I was tagged in a post in a few local groups last evening regarding someone looking for assistance with recovering a lost ring on the beach in Cape May. I messaged Emily whom explained that her father lost his ring, at some point, on Grant St beach earlier in the day. Emily passed me onto her mother whom reached out this morning. After gathering some details we agreed on a time to meet. Took the short ride, from home, over and met up with the entire family. They weren’t exactly sure when or how the ring came to be lost but they were fairly sure as to where they had been sitting. I turned on my detector and literally had the ring in the first sweep, less than 3 minutes. Another happy family! #lostringandjewelryrecoveryservice, #capemaynj, #jerseyshore, #weddingrings, #lostring, #capemaycounty, #lostandfound, #CoolCapeMay, #coolercapemay, #theringfindersnj, #theringfindersnewjersey, #jerseyshore, #capemaynewjersey

Lost ring, North Wildwood, NJ, RECOVERED!

  • from Cape May (New Jersey, United States)
Received a call yesterday afternoon from Pat. Pat explained that while playing volleyball with friends on the beach in North Wildwood his wedding band had fallen off and into the sand. We arranged to meet up this morning as I was on duty yesterday. We met up this morning and after about 20 minutes of checking the volley ball court the 14kt ring was recovered. Another happy ending.

Lost Gold Ring in the Sand at Crystal Cove State Beach, Newport Beach, CA. .. Found by Ring Finder

*** Mindy’s friend dropped his gold wedding band in the dry sand at Crystal Cove State Beach, CA.  They tried to find it for over an hour. A passerby told her about the Ringfinders directory. After doing a google search she called me.

Crystal Cove is a short drive from where I live. I met her on the beach shortly after talking to her. Most the conversation was explaining how the metal detecting service works. Assuring her I could find the ring if they could stay at the general location.

We met on the beach and I found the ring after just a few swings of the metal detector. It’s not just a metal detector, it’s a state of the art detector that is able to work in highly mineralized beach sand and salt water to depths of 60 ft.

They were very happy to have the sentimental gold ring returned after I seemed impossible to find before they had to return home. Not all beach searches are easy because many people don’t feel the ring slip off their fingers. Sometimes people leave the beach before discovering the ring is missing. Then if they are able to return to the beach , they can’t find the location.

Mindy and her friends were amazed at how fast the ring was found, they had no idea how effective a professional type metal detector was to find a small gold ring.

Mike and Meg were playing with their dog in the ocean at the Longport Dog Beach in Longport, New Jersey when she lost her wedding band and engagement ring. She was in waist-deep water when Mike threw a ball to her. The ball hit her hand and caused the rings to fly off into the water. Low-tide had already passed when Mike reached out to me, so we planned to meet the following morning to catch the next low-tide. I started the search where she thought she may have stood when the rings flew off. I found the engagement ring in knee-deep water after searching for around 45 minutes, and a while later, the band was found 35-feet away. It was an emotional time for everyone when the rings were returned.

Lost wallet with lots of $$$ found and returned in Burnaby, BC.

This is not your typical search as a matter of fact it was just luck that I found a wallet on the ground with close to $500 in cash. My first thought was this poor person, my second thought was looking inside and finding a few bank cards and noticing his bank was right across the walkway. I went in and gave them his bank card and told them the situation that I had found a wallet with a lot of cash and asked if they could find this person from his bank card. They were able to locate him and get his name but the number associated to the account was not working. Understandably they did not give me any information about this person but they took my information just in case they were able to get a hold of him.

Within four minutes I received a call from the bank telling me that the owner had showed up at the bank looking for his wallet. I headed out there and met him and was able to give him back his wallet. He told me that this was an advance from his work to pay for emergency surgery for his dog… I was so happy I was able to locate this man with the help of TD Bank… Thank you!

You can only imagine how he must’ve felt when he knew he lost it, also his wallet had been sitting there for close to 40 minutes without anybody spotting it… Amazing! I guess it was meant for me to find and return it.
