Lost Wedding Anniversary Rings Recovered on the Beach in Ocean City, NJ

A relaxing summer evening on the beach in Ocean City, New Jersey, quickly turned into a stressful experience for Kelly and her friends after a fun game of egg toss.

Before joining the game, Kelly wisely removed her rings and placed them on a towel to keep them safe. When it was time to pack up and leave, she reached for her jewelry and immediately realized something was wrong. Only one ring could be found. Received a text from a young lady that stated she had lost her wedding ring set (two rings soldiered together) in a river that she was tubing on Friday July 3rd and asked if I could try and find it.

I said absolutely! The water was only about 2-3 feet deep and she lost it just before some rapids. So after work, I make the 3 plus hour drive and get to the spot. Grabbed my gear and headed down the little hill towards the river’s edge to assess the area.

Once in the water, I needed to try and figure out where she was based on the text message and screenshots received. I finally found what I thought was the spot and I get a good 72 VDI ring signal! It sounded loud and on top! The only issue was it was under a big log. I rolled the log to the right and scanned again. Now I’m really getting a good signal!! I went to get my goggles because I couldn’t see with the water moving and the suns glare. As I was coming back to the spot, the same “SUNS GLARE” actually shined down and I could see a silvery/white gold circle shining!! I reached down and pull it up!

I had to drive a ways to get cell signal back, but once I did I sent her the pictures and she was very happy!

Then I had to drive an hour to their house where I met her husband at the door! I said, “I hear your wife lost some rings!” He said, “Yes!” They both couldn’t believe it was still there and I found them! (on July 8th) Needless to say he was very excited to get them back as well!

Lost Phone In Lake Coeur D’ Alene…Found!!

With the hot summer sun high in the sky, all types of people are driven to the lakes. Tyler was at the lake as well, on Coeur D’ Alene Lake on the Fourth of July. His task that day was to help dock the pontoon boat that his uncle was driving. Like every other thing lost off a boat the story goes the same way. A sudden wave, a quick turn, a wet foot slips and overboard goes said item. For Tylers iPhone it seemed to grow legs and take a swan dive into the cool green water after it suddenly came out of his pocket. Watching the phone descend into the unknow abyss, Tyler got the summertime blues.  That afternoon, Tyler spent snorkeling around that area where the phone fell in. After not finding the phone, the word spread through the little lake community of University Point. As the news reached the next-door neighbors’ ears, the kind neighbors searched the web for some help. It wasn’t long after that, they had a name and number of a guy who had the gear and the knowledge to find Tylers phone. The next day I got a text and call from Tyler, and we made plans for me to come and take a look after work. As I made a short drive into Idaho, Tyler and I went over the plans for the search. After all the set up my scuba gear takes, I was in the water searching with the fishes. I started off in 22 ft of water and made a few grid lines up and down a steep slope in the water. Tyler had me move in closer to the dock after I had no luck. I was now in nine feet of water, and the weeds were really thick. I went back and forth in front of my buoy, and again I didn’t find the phone. As two hours of looking came and went so did my air. I was at the very last of my air limit with 1000 psi left. I swam up to the edge of the dock and asked Tyler where I should look on my last dive. His eyes darted out to my buoy, and he said, ” did you see the really tall weeds out there?”, I answered back with a quick yes and then he told me look behind my buoy in the thick weeds. I had made one pass around my buoys anchors already. This time I swung out a little bit more and as soon as the light from the sunset came through the weeds I got a huge hit on my Excalibur. With a quick pinpoint, my detector started to overload, and I knew I was on a good target. Reaching through the coil I could feel the smooth face of the phone, so I grabbed it. The clear case was almost back in the water, but the sticker Tyler said it had on the back I could clearly see. As I came out of the water I held the phone high. I could see Tyler and his aunt cheering on the edge of the dock. The sweet summer fun Tyler is going to have this year will include a story about his lost phone. However, the best part about his story will be when he pulls the phone out of his pocket and shows everyone that it still works even though everyone thought it was a goner. Just so you know, iPhone’s reign supreme when it comes to waterproofness. Lastly, the water may steal away what is valuable, but The Ring Finders are amphibious and determined to reclaim all that the water steals.

Engagement Ring Lost in the Lake-Found!

I got a call from Sydnie on Saturday the 4th and she said her friend who was down from Ohio for the 4th had lost her engagement ring in the lake right behind her house. They were floating about fifteen to twenty feet from the dock. Before I could make it over there they had to return home without the ring. I was able to get there for the search on Tuesday. I geared up for the search using my Manticore with the Gray Ghost Amphibian headphones and a sand scoop. Fortunately the water was only around 4 to 4 1/2 feet deep there. The bottom was a very shallow layer of soft mud, maybe less that 2 inches, with a hard pan of clay underneath. That made it difficult to use a sand scoop, but I made it work. Closer in to the dock there was a lot of iron and other debris that made the going slow, but as I got further away from the dock those signals were further in between. The water was deep enough that I couldn’t see the screen on the Manticore, and the lost ring was white gold so I could concentrate on the low tones. After about an hour and a half I was at least twenty feet away from the dock, maybe a little more, and I got the tell tale double beep low tone that was very strong. The lost ring was white gold so I could concentrate on the low tones. I lifted the detector out of the water to see the screen and it said 06 for the target ID. With the hard pan clay down there it took me three attempts to get the target in the scoop, but there it was, a dainty white gold ring.

Lost gold ring FOUND! Sea Isle City, NJ By Jeffrey Laag

I received a call from Paul. Paul explained that he was enjoying a day on 29th st beach with his family in Sea Isle City NJ. Paul was standing in shallow surf when his ring slipped from his finger and disappeared into the surf. Paul and his family searched the area but were unable to locate the ring. After a quick search, Paul landed on Ring Finders Cape May. After discussing the details with Paul I took the short ride to Sea Isle City and met Paul and his family on the beach. Paul made some good decisions by marking the area and gathering reference points when he dropped the ring. Utilizing my top of tye line detection equipment I began grid searching the immediate area. Luckily the tide was receding, and the area was mostly wet sand at this point. After a brief 5-minute search my detector indicated a solid, clean, low growl typically associated with gold targets. After two scoops into the sand Paul’s gold wedding ring emerged in my scoop. The whole beach erupted in applause. Another happy ending, another satisfied client!

Lost White Gold men’s wedding band at Sanders Beach in Coeur d” Alane Idaho….Found!!!

Lots of my Ring Finder stories start off with a very detailed description of how the ring was lost and how the person got in touch with me. However, this story is quite different from all of the rest of my stories. I was just finishing up a birthday celebration for my daughter when a gentleman called me and asked if I could help him find his lost ring on Sander’s beach in Idaho. The interesting thing was that I’m normally not in Idaho, I’m normally in Washington, but on this very day I was in Idaho. The other fact was that I didn’t have my metal detecting gear with me. This fact was also out of the norm, but what made it even more unusual was that the gentleman bought a metal detector and had it at the beach. The story takes another turn when he tells me that he must leave soon and he will leave the detector at the beach for me to use when I get there. So, after gathering up my family and pulling up the google map I was on my way to Sander’s beach. I found a parking spot right by the beach, which never happens. I rushed down to the beach and looked by the tree where the detector was stashed. To my surprise the detector was sitting right where the gentleman left it. The gentleman had taken the detector apart; my guess was to prevent it from being stolen. After I put it together, it worked. The detector was simple with an analog gauge and gave only one sound. This didn’t faze me; I bent over and started swinging the kid size detector over the sand. Within two or three swipes into my hunt I got a signal. I pushed the sand with my foot, and the signal moved with the pile. So, grabbing handfuls of sand, I passed my hand over the coil. On the third handful I saw the rim of the gentleman’s ring peeking out of the pile. I found his ring in minutes. After calling the gentleman I took the ring to his house and left it and the detector on his porch. During the ride home back to Washington I kept shaking my head in disbelief. How many searches have I gone on with the top-of-the-line detectors, spending hours searching and researching with no luck. Remember this, it doesn’t matter what detector you have; you won’t find anything if your coil doesn’t pass over it.

While James was walking in the shallows with his 3 year old daughter, an unexpected rogue wave hit.  As he reached out to stabilize and prevent her from being knocked over he realized his ring was gone.  Lots of prayers…James made the right call.  “It’s only lost until you call!”  After two days of unsuccessful searching a team of metal detectors was set up – the ring finally turning up, 22 hours of search time.  Well, James’ story continues, the ring securely back on his finger.  God bless ????

Lost – Gold princess cut diamond engagement ring, New Smyrna Beach, FL – FOUND!!

I received a text from Alex on Sunday morning. He said his fiancée had lost her engagement ring the previous day and asked if I could help. I told him to call me right away.

Seconds later, my phone rang. I could hear the tension in his voice as he explained where and when the ring had been lost. They had searched for quite a while but came up empty. I told him I could head there immediately. Since his fiancée, Bryanna, lived about 40 minutes away, he said she would meet me at the beach. I told him I’d get started and wait for her.

As I drove, I prayed that God would guide my search.

When I arrived, I fired up the Minelab Manticore. A few beach tents already occupied the area, and I could still see the marks in the sand from the previous evening’s search.

I began carefully gridding from the edge of the water into the dry sand where Bryanna believed the ring had come off. I had covered most of the likely area and was beginning to wonder if it had been lost somewhere else.

Then came a booming signal.

Just beneath the sand was the ring, crowned with a beautiful, large diamond. It was easy to understand why they had been so worried.

I walked back to the house where I had parked my car at Mike and Pam’s home, Bryanna’s best friend’s parents. Moments later, Bryanna and her mother arrived. I asked Bryanna to tell me one more time where she thought the ring had been lost. As she pointed toward the beach, I slowly raised the ring into her view.

First came a gasp. Then tears of joy.

Praise God! Another precious ring was safely back where it belonged.
