Dominic’s Story: A Lost Wedding Ring at Point Dume Beach
On my way to help a customer at Point Dume Beach, I got a frantic call from Dominic. His wife had lost her wedding ring in the sand at Zuma Beach—just months into their marriage—and he needed urgent help. I promised to prioritize their lost ring recovery in Malibu after my current task, and soon I was navigating Malibu’s busy streets to meet him at lifeguard tower 4. A crowd of sun-soaked beachgoers watched as I arrived, the stakes high for this newlywed couple.
The story was all too familiar: Dominic’s wife had stashed her rings in the sand before a swim, but her wedding band slipped away. With my Minelab Manticore in hand, I began sifting through Zuma Beach’s grains, every move drawing curious eyes. Amid bottle caps and trash, a dual-tone signal cut through—a wadded piece of foil emerged, followed by the gleaming wedding ring! Cheers erupted as I handed it back, another triumph for lost ring recovery in Malibu by Ventura County’s top Ringfinder.

James’s Story: A Lost Wedding Ring at Point Dume Beach
James’s urgent call came in recently about his wife’s lost wedding ring at Point Dume Beach in Malibu. A Saturday afternoon on Malibu’s bustling beaches—like Zuma Beach or Leo Carrillo State Beach—had turned stressful when the ring vanished in the sand. I promised swift action for lost ring recovery in Malibu, and soon I was weaving through the crowds to meet James. Luck (or divine intervention!) snagged me a parking spot near Point Dume, where he waited anxiously by the shore.
With my Equinox 900 metal detector in hand, I began the hunt. Malibu beaches can be a maze of metal trash, from Broad Beach to El Matador Beach, but I tuned out the clutter. Then, a distinct tone broke through near Point Dume’s tide line. Digging into the sand, I uncovered the gleam of James’s wife’s wedding ring—cheers erupted from nearby beachgoers! The thrill of returning a lost ring at Point Mugu Beach or Sycamore Cove Beach never gets old, and this recovery was pure joy.

Rent metal detector

Julie lost her wedding ring during a weekend trip in Ocean City, NJ. She put the ring in the back pouch of her beach chair, but her husband Will wasn’t aware it was in there when he packed up their belongings. Julie didn’t realize the ring was missing until they got back to the house. They thought it may have fallen out when the chair was flipped over, so Will gave me a call. I met him and was able to find the ring!

2nd LOST CLASS RING FROM WHITE LAKE, NC…….. RETURNED!!!!!!!

  • from Raleigh (North Carolina, United States)

While metal detecting I found not one but two class rings about 30 feet apart. After getting home, I was able to find the owner to one and the brother to the owner of the other. I was able to get them to agree to mee up with me at the same time and do a “DOUBLE CLASS RING RETURN”. I have never done a double ring return before and it was AWESOME!!!!

I love being able to reunite a lost item back to their original owner who thought they would NEVER see it again!!!

This ring belonged to a girl named Nanda and she lost her ring 6 years ago! She was devastated and heartbroken! Today, in her own words…. “YOU MADE MY LIFE, NOT MY DAY, MY WHOLE LIFE” You just can’t beat this feeling of returning a lost item!

Unique ring lost in Concord, CA… RECOVERED!!!

Bay Area Ring Finders: Brendon Chapman… Metal Detecting Service/Call ASAP     925-580-2590

Gold is a big part of Neelums culture, so when she had the opportunity to purchase a very unique 22k gold ring while in Dubai, she jumped all over it. The ring style is thought to bring good luck to its owner…more on that later.   This particular ring had become one of her favorite possessions, so when it came up missing, she sought help quickly.

Finding theringfinders.com site led her to me and after some text messages, we agreed to meet the following afternoon to search.  We started at her mothers apartment where she last physically had the ring. She had put multiple rings into her purse there before running to pick up her husband from work and returning to their apartment.  After nothing turned up at that location nor inside her vehicle, we decided to move to the final location where Neelum realized the ring was missing.

Interestingly enough, as we walked the pathway to her apartment discussing what areas we could search, there on the path sat the 22k gold ring.  It had sat there in the open with people constantly walking past it for over 24 hours.  We had made the recovery!

Remember earlier when we discussed that luck thing?  Well, that ring truly brought luck to Neelum on that day.  There would have been so many opportunities for someone to spot that beautiful and unique ring and to take it for themselves, however she now has the ring back in her possession and their story together got an exciting new chapter in lieu of a sad ending.

As always, Thank you Neelum for contacting the The Ring Finders and entrusting me to assist with locating this wonderful ring?  Best wishes for you and your family for the future.

Metal detecting in Miami Beach for lost ring

  • from Miami (Florida, United States)

If you lost a ring or other type of jewelry at the beach (in the sand or water) give me a call, I have a metal detecting service and can come out and find it for you.  Call / Text Louis 305-608-1870.  Alexandre lost his ring on while on vacation from Switzerland.  He was flying out the next day to California.  When he called me I didn’t think I was going to be able to find it because the surf was as bad as I had ever seen it.  But after about an hour of being battered around in the water, we found it.  He did a great job of marking the area where he lost it.  A beautiful 18k Gold Ring.

Chris was very happy to have his ring back on his finger, I also would like to thank my past client Mitchell for referring Chris to me thank you.

Barnstable, MA: Cape Cod Beach, Wedding Band Found and Returned

  • from Cape Cod (Massachusetts, United States)

August 6, 2023 was what began as a great afternoon of boating on Cape Cod Bay turned into a fretful time of searching for a wedding band that had slipped from Zach’s finger after only 2 months of being worn. Zach tried diving in 9 feet of water to find the ring but lacked the ability to hold his breath long enough to do much searching under water. When the tide went out and the area was void of water he and others tried using a metal detector and “eye-ball” searching with no success.

One of Zach’s friends suggested he call J&E Enterprise, a metal detector dealer for suggestions. Eleanor offered up my name and number. Zach then called me. The tide was about ¾ full and I knew I could not detect in the 9 foot deep water and made arrangements for an early morning meeting when the tide would be down to only waist deep.

The morning came with storm alerts on the NOAA radio. High winds, heavy rain and possible tornadoes were on the horizon for Cape Cod area. The sky was a bit overcast at 7:30AM but otherwise it looked like the beginning of a wonderful day. I took a chance and left the safety of my home and was off to meet up with Zach, After the introduction and being shown were the over-size ring slipped from his finger I was in the water searching in a grid pattern. About 45 minutes of searching with only one other signal I located the wedding band.

I left the ring in my detecting scoop and headed out of the water, back to where Zach had been standing. He thought I had given up searching and I said yes, there is no need to search any further. I then put the scoop in front of him so he could see the ring in the scoop and retrieve it for himself. I love the emotions people show when their lost item has been found and is being returned. Even bystanders are amazed and become elated as they watch and add congratulations.

Zach’s wife was home and had offered up a bit of advice when she was told of the “loss”. That was “do not tell your mother until after TheRingFinder does his search.” While Zach was talking to Kelly I texted her a picture of the return. Yes, it was a wonderful feeling to be part of this story that ended with smiles that spread between Zach on Cape Cod and his wife several states away.

OH, I must add that the weatherman was correct. Two hours after I arrived back home the NOAA alerts started coming in every few minutes, Then the wind, rain, and lightening engulfed our area. There were two tornadoes in our area. One EF1 touched down about 30 miles and the other an EF0 was only 5 miles away. There was physical damage to homes and property but no human injuries. Both Zach and I were among the lucky ones this morning.
