Stacey and Andrew were on the picturesque Crest Pier in Wildwood Crest, New Jersey for their wedding ceremony this past weekend when Stacy’s engagement ring slipped through the gaps in the pier’s wooden planks.
Meghan from the bridal party reached out to me, and within 15 minutes, I joined the family to help them retrieve the lost ring. I initially conducted a detailed search of the sand down below but the engagement ring was not there.
I returned to my car and grabbed my endoscope to examine the space under the boards and above the pilings. With Bill and another guest offering assistance, the engagement ring was found about 15 feet above ground level out of eyesight on the rafter. Thanks to teamwork, the day was saved, and the family and friends could continue their celebrations in Wildwood Crest, NJ!

Late one night, I received a call from Kim seeking assistance in locating two lost rings that held great sentimental value for Maddie. One of these rings was a gold piece gifted to Maddie by her mother, purchased during a trip to Italy. The other was a silver ring Maddie had bought recently. She had placed both rings on a beach chair in Avalon, New Jersey, but lost track of them afterward. We arranged to meet early the next morning.
With a general idea of where the beach chair might have been located, I began my search. Within just a few minutes, I successfully found one ring; a few moments later, the second ring emerged! This incredible start to the day in Avalon, NJ, brought Maddie immense joy as she was reunited with her cherished rings.

Lost Ring @ Basketball Court in Westampton NJ Found by Dave Milsted

I woke up to an email from Rickey. It said that he lost his wedding ring on Sunday while playing basketball. I wrote back, and he called me. We set up to do a search later that day after work. 

We met at the courts, and he explained that he put his phone under his mother’s chair and put his ring on top of the phone. This was in the grass, which was 4 -5 inches long and thick. The ring is black & silver titanium. He said his 2-year-old son picked up the phone to give it to his daddy. He said he spent about 4 hours looking for it but was giving up hope that it would be found. 

He showed me the area that he thought his mom’s chair was in. I said I would start searching a little farther away and work my way to where he thought it was. Being around a basketball court, there were a lot of metal objects in the area. I was looking for a surface sound. I could tell there were a lot of coins, bottle caps & pull tabs around. I will go back another time to clean out the coins. 

It only took about 10 minutes for me to get the sound I was looking for. I bent down and spread the grass to see his ring. I picked it up and showed him. The look on his face was priceless. He told me he had been in the dog house since losing the ring. Hopefully, this will make things better. 

I love my hobby!!

Just a day before, Rhett and Meredith were married. Family members from different corners of the country gathered to witness their beautiful ceremony. The day after the wedding, they decided to visit Ocean City, NJ, where some relatives and friends were staying in order to spend quality time with them. Both Rhett and Meredith wore distinctive wedding bands – Rhett wore his late father’s wedding band that was hand-made by his mother.

While playing in the ocean with his nieces and nephews, Rhett suddenly realized that his wedding ring had slipped off his finger and vanished beneath the waves. Distressed, he called me later that night, and we decided to meet at the beach the next day around low-tide in hopes of finding the lost ring. I gathered more details about where the ring might be and initiated my search. I started in waist-deep water and worked my way toward the shoreline. In just about ankle-deep water, the metal detector let out a sharp sound. I scooped up a handful of sand and there it was, the family heirloom! Recovered!

Rhett was overjoyed and relieved as he gave me a hug. The ring held immeasurable sentimental value for him. It will now be able to be honored and cherished for years to come.

Lost ring in Door County recovered through teamwork!

On August 21st, I received a call from Jake about his lost wedding ring at Jacksonport Beach, a popular spot on the east coastline of Door County.   It slipped off his finger in chest-high water about 35-to-50 feet from shore.    I drove out later the next day, after giving some storms time to pass by.    I arrived to see white caps rolling in, but they weren’t too high close to shore in the troughs between the sand bars.   Further out, they were pretty strong.

I knew this would be an arduous search because the Lake Michigan side of the Door County Peninsula is colder than the bay, and fighting the incoming whitecaps can tire a person out pretty quickly.   I taught Jake how to detect small round objects with my ancient Fisher 1280, an analog model that is easy to use because it goes by sound.   I used an AT Pro, which has been pretty effective for me on sand beaches.   Jake used my heavy steel scoop, which has enough weight to be effective in surf.   He is a bigger guy, so he could handle the deeper waves better than I could. I started out about chest deep, and worked my way into the shallows, figuring the waves may have tumbled the ring toward shore.   I worked back and forth closer and closer to the beach, but only found one hammered coin of some kind, to be cleaned and researched later. Jake and his sons arrived to observe and assist, and his wife and baby boy came by later to watch and give encouragement.   After the better part of an hour Jake waded in with a huge smile and his artisanal ring in the scoop!    Nice recovery!  Their whole family was beaming!

Jake gave me a generous reward, which will be used to bring our grandson to a Timber Rattlers and a Milwaukee Brewers game!    I hated to take it, since he was the one who scooped it using my gear, but the main thing is we worked together and found it!

(Word to the wise:   Wedding bands without protruding stone settings will sink where they fall in sand until they reach equilibrium!   The ring stayed put despite the waves.)

Lisa gave me a call about her husband Kevin’s lost wedding band in Wildwood, NJ. Kevin placed his ring on top of the cooler before putting sunscreen on and forgot it was on there when he brushed sand off the top. I met the couple on the beach and got a better idea of where to start the search. We anticipated a 10-feet radius, but the ring was found slightly farther out than expected.

Sea Isle City NJ Lost Class Ring Found by Ring Finders South Jersey John Favano

Blake and her friend spent a day at the beach in Sea Isle City, New Jersey. Before applying sunscreen to her nephew, Blake removed her cherished class ring and placed it safely in her bag. Unfortunately, she later discovered that the ring had gone missing. In a panic, Blake’s mother, Alexa, contacted me for assistance in locating the lost gold class ring.

Ready with these essential details, I embarked on my search utilizing my trusty metal detector.

 

As I meticulously followed a grid pattern from the water’s edge towards their second seating area, I took advantage of the low tide, which enabled me to search shallow waters. After approximately 30 minutes of diligent searching, my Excalibur detector emitted the distinctive growl for gold, leading me to finally uncover the lost class ring!

 

Alexa called Blake and delivered the delightful news of their keepsake’s recovery!

Julie lost her wedding ring during a weekend trip in Ocean City, NJ.
