Wedding Ring Lost at Zuma Beach, CA…Found.

Adrian called me early evening on 12-26-15, but because I had been receiving over one hundred butt calls and texts from my traveling son in about 3 hours (and turned my ringer off), I did not see that I had a voice mail an email from him until later that night. He explained to me how he had been climbing the slope at the beach using his hands to gain traction, when he noticed his ring had come off. I promptly sent him and email letting him know I would be available at about 12:00 PM Sunday, to meet them for the the search. He let me know the next morning he would be able to meet me.

When I got to the spot, I met Adrian, his wife Laura, and their young son. Adrian took me to the spot where he remembered losing his ring, and I began my search. I searched the area thoroughly, but did not find his ring. I asked if he could have been North or South of the location whereby he gave me an area that he might have been, outside of the original location. The one thing to remember, is that the shoreline changes from day to day, and without perfect landmarks, it might be hard to find the exact location again. I went across the top of the slope from one end of his instructions to the other with no ring. After, I began to work down the slope, and ended up finding the ring about 25 feet from the original spot. When I found it, I picked it up to show Laura, and asked, “did the ring look like this”. When she saw it she hurried over, unsure, but looked inside to see her name and wedding date engraved inside, and became very excited with much joy. What a great opportunity, to be able to bring this kind of joy to hearts crushed by the loss of such an important part of their lives.

I was on my way home from a store on Christmas Eve morning when I received a call from Michael about his lost wedding ring. He had been using an adult exercise area at the beach, when he felt it fall out of his pocket, and had searched for over an hour to locate it. I asked if he could wait a little while because I was away from home (and equipment) at the time, when he told me he was checking out of his hotel, and headed back to Las Vegas at 12:00 PM. I told him I would get there as soon as I could, I just needed to drop off the cargo, and get my equipment together. I also had to instruct my son and wife as to how to get the grill going and put on the prime rib roast we were having for dinner that evening, because I knew I would be gone when it was time to get it going. One thing was certain, if it was at all possible, Michael was not going home without his ring.

Michael sent the information, and pictures as to where the loss occurred, which was very helpful, and I told him that I would let him know when I arrived for the search. I got to the spot, and began my search, pausing on occasion to allow people to pass through during their exercise and then resuming my search. After about 10 minutes, I found Michael’s ring, and promptly sent him a text with the ring’s picture, as he hadn’t arrived yet. When he did get to the area, he was very happy that his ring had been found, and grateful that I was willing to come out on Christmas Eve to  help him. I am sure I am speaking for all of the Ring Finders who are a part of this directory when I say, it was my pleasure to do this for you Michael, and to be able send you home with a great smile.

Lost Platinum Diamond Wedding Ring .. Westwood, CA. .. Found

Laycee called me 11-3-15 four days after losing her diamond wedding band. It was custom made with 3 diamonds from her grandmother’s ring and the platinum setting was designed by her husband. “Irreplaceable ”
She could only tell me that it was lost sometime during the family annual Halloween party at her house.
After spending the last four days thoroughly searching the house and the backyard. Laycee and her husband Jacob discussed renting a metal detector to check the lawn and the planters. While searching online they came upon our directory of metal detector specialists. Calling me with a few questions about how service, we set up a time that I could meet them at the house the next morning.
I met them early as they both had things to do later in the day. We talked about what activities Laycee had been doing that may have caused the loss of the ring. It had been a busy day preparing for the party and doing hosting. She did remember showing her niece how to do cart wheels on the lawn..
I started on the lawn which was dried up, because we have a drought in So. Calif. with watering restrictions. The grass was sparse and they had searched it several times. The lawn area was only 40ft.x40ft. so it didn’t take much time to grid it with my CTX 3030. Just as I reached the last grid pass I heard a good signal, looking down in plain view, I could see the ring in the dried gray grass.
I went back to the house calling Laycee to the door giving her the good news. She was in shock, telling me that this was the happiest she has been in a long time. It was an emotional time for her, even as I left she was still amazed that it was not lost forever.. I love helping people find missing sentimental keepsakes.

White Gold Wedding Band Lost at Hermosa Beach, CA…Found.

Mike called me this morning about his wedding ring he lost while pushing his children down a sand berm at the local beach yesterday. I told him I would be there in about an hour. When I got to the spot Mike met me, and showed me the area they were playing. You could still see the marks made by the sled they were using, so it made finding the location very easy. You could see though how exasperating it would be to try to find a ring on such an incline because of the way the sand moved as one climbed, or tried to dig on it.

I began at the bottom of the hill, and worked my way up. Originally Mike thought it might have been about half way down, or towards the  bottom, as that is when he noticed it missing. I received some signals in that area, and marked them, but they were not what I was wanting to hear, so I kept moving up the berm. I got near the top, when I heard a good signal about 3 feet off to the right of where they were sliding. I dug, and had Mike’s ring in the bottom of my scoop, turned and showed him. He was very happy, and thankful to have it returned. It was a pleasure to be able to make his day, and continue the story of his ring; the ONE he received from his wife on the day they were wed.

Lost Platinum Ring at Hermosa Beach, CA…Found.

Ed called me last Monday asking if I would be able to help him find his ring which he lost playing volleyball. I said I could, and we arranged to meet the next day. We met at the location, where he showed me what he was doing, and where he thought the ring had come off. I proceeded to search, and got a real nice hit about 20 minutes into the search. When I dug I received a bottle cap, and swung my coil over the area again, with no reply. I went on to search the whole court, and quite a bit of the area outside the court, with no results.

There were people who were arranged outside the court, and I did not want to burden everyone to move all of their stuff for me to search, so I mentioned to Ed that I would come back later in the evening when the people had moved. I only had that one good hit earlier, and told Ed that before I left for the afternoon, I would go to that spot again and recheck. I did and increased the sensitivity on my detector, and low and behold I heard the good sound I had heard before, which registered at about 10 inches. It took a few digs with the scoop until I was looking at the ring in its bottom. Well as you can see by Ed’s smile I was able to make his day.

Diamond Ring Lost While Gardening .. Newport Beach, CA.

Irene had been gardening Wednesday morning when she noticed her diamond wedding ring missing from her finger. The last she remembered seeing it was the day before, so it could have also been lost in the backyard where she had done another cleanup project.
Irene had worn this ring for over 30 years, a gift from her husband, who had recently passed away. She was very distraught, so she called her daughter, Karen to help her. They spent several hours checking the house and everyplace that it could be visible by eye. Because Irene had spent so much time in the gardens they both felt it had to be in the freshly tilled soil.
Karen went to the internet to explore chances of getting a metal detector expert. She found TheRingFinders.com and my contact information. I was able to meet them within a hour.
We spent a few minutes discussing the what actions might have caused the loss of the ring and explaining how the metal detector works. Then we walked to all the places Irene had been outside sense yesterday, gardens in front, along the side of the house and a lawn in the backyard. I now could get my detector and set up it up for the search.
As we walked back along the side of the house to get my detector, Irene spotted her ring in plain site on the side walk. All three of us walked over it at least once. They thought that it may have been hiding behind a box of leaves that she had moved off the sidewalk.
It doesn’t matter how we found the ring. What’s most important is that the ring is back where it belongs.
Another thing to remember is, that it’s not always about using the metal detector. Many searches will just prove that the lost article is not in that location. When a ring can’t be found with my detector. I always tell the people to check their washing machine and clothes dryer, pockets, purses, etc.

Dorm Key Lost in Riverside, CA…Found.

I received a call from Abner about his dorm key that was lost as he was out jogging around a local park. I had a commitment that kept me from going on the day of his call, but we arranged to meet the next morning. He told me that this was his dorm key from his university (UC Riverside), and he was told that if he did not produce the key on the day I came, that the school was going to charge him an exorbitant amount of money to get him a new key because they would have to change out the lock as well. I could hear his desperation when he called, and being a student, I realized it would be difficult for him to come up with the sum the school would require of him.

I had a 73 mile drive, and the traffic was good which allowed me to arrive at our appointed time. Abner showed me the area where he knew the key was lost, as he told me he felt it leave his hand as he was running. I explained that I would search the area he showed me, and if it wasn’t found, I would begin a search “outside of the box”. As I searched, I encountered quite a bit of metallic objects, but none of them turned out to be the key. Abner then sat down, and it seemed he was getting a bit discouraged, but I figured it was time to stretch the search area. I went out about 10 to 15 feet further when I got a good hit on the detector. I pulled my pinpointer out and started to reach down, when I was able to see the key slightly covered by some grass, but on top. It was surprising that even though I knew something was there, it was almost invisible.

Well when I came up with the key, I could see the relief come over Abner’s face. He was surely happy he did not have dig into his “starving student” fund to replace it. He and I just sat down afterwards and talked a while about school and life in general, as I have a son about his age in college as well. It was nice meeting him, and being able to make his day.

Huntington DogBeach .. Opal Ring, a Gift from Grandfather .. Lost in Sand

I left my place early driving north on Pacific Coast Highway. Today would be my second attempt to find a ring lost two days before during low tide tower 28 Huntington DogBeach.
I was driving, when Allie’s grandfather Art called me just as I was leaving Newport Beach. The family was at Huntington DogBeach tower 22.  Allie had been brushing sand off her pants when her beautiful silver ring with an opal slipped off her finger into the dry sand. This ring was very special to her as it was a gift from her grandfather.
I was able to get a ring signal within a few minutes, but when I held a ring up for her to see,  it was not her ring. This has happened several times to me. I need to get a better description of the ring before I get everybody excited just to be disappointed.
Well it turned out to be a happy moment for Allie and the family a few minutes later, when I got another good signal that turned out to be a beautiful Opal in a silver ring. It was a nice day for all and a pleasure for me to help find the ring for Allie. She was so excited!
I was still able to get to my other search location a mile north of this location. Three hours later I found the diamond engagement ring lost in the wet sand two days before. Too much excitement for one day..

Diamond Wedding Band Lost in Yard in Burbank, CA…Found.

I received a call from Derrick this morning asking for help in finding his wife’s wedding ring. He and his wife had been carving pumpkins in the back yard yesterday in anticipation of Halloween, and so as not to get her beautiful diamond wedding ring covered with pumpkin goop, she decided to remove it and place it on the blanket they were using. When they were done Derrick lifted the blanket, forgetting the ring was on it, and it disappeared into the grass. He told me they searched for a while right after the loss, but it was getting dark fast making a visual search harder. He then got up this morning with the new light and conducted a more thorough search of the area with no luck. He began to do some research on the Internet, and found me on TheRingFinders.com web site. I was due home in about 15 minutes, and told him I would leave for his location as soon as I got my equipment together.

I arrived at his house, and he invited me to the location of the loss, wherein I was looking at a rather large yard of nicely manicured grass, and figured it may take a while to search for this one. Derrick showed me where they were sitting, and what he had done to the blanket. He didn’t think he had flipped it too hard, but you never know with such a small item that can fly quite a distance with minimal effort, so I resolved to myself that I would be searching the whole yard. Thinking in that mindset, I started in the most likely beginning point. I swung my detector 2 times hearing many multiple high tones like rusted nails, and thought this might end up being very difficult. I swung once more and heard what I was listening for, not believing that I could have found it so soon, but went down with my pinpointer, and located his wife’s ring, all in about 10 seconds. I reached down and brought it up to show an unbelieving Derrick. I got to thinking that he might have thought I brought the ring with me, and had it in my hand when I began the search, because it was found so fast.

Derrick was very happy to have the ring that he gave his wife on their wedding day to give back to her today. I could tell it meant a lot to him, and am sure his wife was ecstatic to have it on her finger again. He did not want his full picture taken, but did allow a bust shot of him holding the ring. Trust me he was smiling, and very happy. I was glad to have made his day. The story of this ring continues.

My wife and I really didn’t know what to do when she lost her wedding ring in our yard.  It was in our own backyard yet for some reason it still nearly impossible to find.  After hours of looking in our own yard with no luck, we felt sorta hopeless.  I spent sometime researching what I could do online and it was either buy/rent an expensive metal detecting device or see if someone who knew what they were doing could help us out.  After reading some success stories at the ring finders, I decided it couldn’t hurt.  I called Steve on a Sunday and even though I live about 35 miles away from where he was, he still was nice enough to come by.  It was the best idea I had.  Like Steve mentioned, within seconds he found my wife’s ring.  It was such a relief not only for me, but for my wife, of course, who thought her ring was for sure lost forever.  Take it from me, if you lose a ring, give someone on this sight a call, they know what they are doing and can help turn what could be a terrible situation into a cute little story.

Diamond Wedding Band Lost in Yard in Santa Ana, CA…Found.

We had just landed at LAX coming from Waco, TX last Sunday, when I turned my phone off of “airplane mode”, and realized I had just received a call from Mana regarding the loss of his wife’s wedding band. I immediately called back to see what I could do to help out. We were not able to meet up that day but arranged to meet the next day, so I could help them find what had eluded them for a couple of days.

When we talked Mana explained that they were decorating their front yard for Halloween, and in the process his wife lost her ring in the yard. I showed up at our arranged time, and Mana showed me where the loss had presumably taken place. His wife was painting some of the props for the display, and took her ring off so it would not get paint on it. She gave her ring to Mana to hold, at which time he was sitting near her so he placed it on his shorts “so as not to lose it”. When they were done though He stood up forgetting the ring was there and it fell off into the grass. The grass was not too thick, so I thought it was surprising it wasn’t visible to them. I searched the area, and found some items that were too deep to have been lost in a couple of days, and did not dig for them. I then moved a bit towards the area Mana would have moved when he arose, and got a good hit. I pulled out my pinpointer, and searched. I was surprised that although I was right over the ring with my pinpointer, I could not see the ring. It had become hidden very flat under the grass, and without detecting equipment probably would not have been found.

When I raised my hand with the ring in it, Mana exclaimed jokingly “you save me”, and I could tell by the joy he was showing that I had made his day. He showed his wife, and there were a lot of smiles to go around that yard on Monday. I was very happy to have returned a ring that was thought to have been lost for good.
