Lost Iphone in Sand .. Three Arch Bay, Laguna Beach, CA. .. Found

  • from Newport Beach (California, United States)

imageGlen called me late in the evening Mother’s Day. His wife, Hey had lost her celphone in the sand the night before. Because she had “the find my phone” application on her phone, GPS signal indicated it was in the sand near the fire pit. After spending most the day searching in the sand by hand and rakes it was getting dark. The battery on the phone had died and they were about to give up.
Glen found TheRingFinders.com while doing a Google search for metal detectors. After calling me I was able to meet them at Three Arch Bay which is a gated community with a private beach. My first time visiting this beach. It’s a beautiful beach even at night with a long set of steps down the cliff to the beach.
After meeting Hey, I could see she was tired and frustrated. They had built a fire in the firepit. So it was kind of a picturesque place to do a search. It took awhile, maybe 15 minutes to find the phone because it was 20 feet away from the location they gave me. I was careful not to dig aggressively as it would not be professional to break the Celphone.
It was great to see how happy Hey was and to know that her Mother’s Day ended in a positive way. I asked them to tell their neighbors and friends about our service.

I left my place early driving north on Pacific Coast Highway. Today would be my second attempt to find a ring lost two days before during low tide tower 28 Huntington DogBeach.
I was driving, when Allie’s grandfather Art called me just as I was leaving Newport Beach. The family was at Huntington DogBeach tower 22.  Allie had been brushing sand off her pants when her beautiful silver ring with an opal slipped off her finger into the dry sand. This ring was very special to her as it was a gift from her grandfather.
I was able to get a ring signal within a few minutes, but when I held a ring up for her to see,  it was not her ring. This has happened several times to me. I need to get a better description of the ring before I get everybody excited just to be disappointed.
Well it turned out to be a happy moment for Allie and the family a few minutes later, when I got another good signal that turned out to be a beautiful Opal in a silver ring. It was a nice day for all and a pleasure for me to help find the ring for Allie. She was so excited!
I was still able to get to my other search location a mile north of this location. Three hours later I found the diamond engagement ring lost in the wet sand two days before. Too much excitement for one day..

Jim is staying at the Huntington Beach Hyatt Regency Hotel on a business conference. He is visiting from Denver. When he called me at 5:45pm , it was moments after he had dropped his tungsten wedding ring in the sand while brushing sand off his pants. He had a pretty good idea of the location. He and his two friends even put the location on their smart phone with GPS co-ordinates. It was only seven miles from my location to where Jim was, but he told me he had a meeting to attend in one hour. I told him I was in my car with my detecting equipment and it was important that I have a few minutes with him before his meeting.

The traffic was not too bad coming from Newport Beach. The trip only took 15 minutes. It was also nice, not to pay $15 for parking. I have a yearly parking passes for most beaches around the Orange County area.  Calling Jim as I pulled up, he saw my car and waved me over to the location on the beach. It was a little nerve racking because of the up coming meeting. I set up a grid right away, starting at the center of a 50 foot square area. Walking straight through the center rotating in a spiral. It’s not good push myself, because that’s inviting mistakes that can be time consuming. After the first pass I turned to start the second pass, the first two targets that I retrieved turned out to be trash metal, but the third was Jim’s ring. We rushed to take photos for this blog.. Jim called home to report the good news to his wife. They still had time to make it to his business meeting. He did have a big smile but my camera would only let me take one photo. We did have a nice sunset in the background. It was a pleasure to meet Jim and his friends, but it was sort of like.. “Wam Bam, Thank You Stan”
