Lost Gold Wedding Ring Found in Tigard, Oregon

I received a text from Kyle saying he had lost his gold wedding ring in his front lawn several days ago. He and his wife had tried several different approaches to locate it, but had no luck. He said he had found me on Ring Finders, and asked if I would be willing to come help him out. I told him I could be there the next morning, and we were set.

I arrived and met Kyle, who showed me the area he suspected the ring had departed his finger. On the day in question, we had some heavy rains in our area. As he was moving the trash bin to the curb, he stopped to shake out a tree limb that was being weighed down by all the water. When he let go, the limb snapped-up and he felt it catch on his ring. The area had a nice, thick lawn, which about 3″ tall. Kyle went back in the house to work, telling me to give him a yell if I needed anything, and I pulled ot the AT Gold and started under the tree. I immediately got an interesting hit, but it seemed too deep and scratchy for a gold ring, so I moved on. I started an East-West grid across the lawn. After my second pass, I just had to go back to the signal under the tree. I had to cut a small plug and about an inch down, there it was…a AA battery. Back to the grid.

Right away I heard another good one just on the edge of the lawn. Scraping away dirt I didn’t see anything, but the pinpointer told me there was something there. I pealed back the sod and pulled out a  bent, copper bracelet that had been there a long time. Not being what I was after, I set it aside and moved on. Maybe two steps further and I heard that golden tone. Sweep from the other direction and knew. Pulled apart the grass and there it was. About a 25 min. search.

Us Ring Finders are always looking for interesting ways to return folks lost items, so I called Kyle thru the window, asking him how big the ring he had lost was. He came outside, saying he thought it was something like a size 12. I held up the braclet-thing and said, “So, it’s not this big then?” We had a chuckle and talked about the item, then I pointed to the ring in the grass, asking him “Or is it more like this?” He seemed genuinely suprised to see his ring again and said he ‘Could just hug’ me. We went with a hardy handshake.

White Gold Wedding/Engagement Band Set-Found!

Ryan contacted me several weeks ago about his wife’s white gold wedding/engagement band set she had lost in a grassy area of the apartments where they lived in Chattanooga.  Because of his busy work schedule he had a difficult time getting the search arranged.  I think he had actually purchased an off-the-shelf metal detector at a local store, but was apparently overwhelmed with the large amounts of metallic trash in the ground.  We finally managed to arrange a search on June 9th.  I arrived at the location at 7:15 PM on June 9th.  I started my search as soon as I got the story from him, because we didn’t have much daylight left.  Around 35 minutes later I found the engagement band portion totally hidden below the grass around four feet from the base of a large tree.  It took me right at an hour more to find the wedding band portion, and it was about twenty feet from where I found the other half.  It ended up being in an area outside of the original search zone.  The grass had been cut, so maybe that’s how it ended up being over there.  This portion of the ring was in full view of anyone walikg by, so it’s amazing nobody had seen it.

“Now you see it, now you don’t” in Grand Rapids, Michigan

I got a call from Lois F. telling me her boyfriend threw her rings over her garage. When Dave Boyer (Ringfinder friend) and I got to the house Lois explained to us that after a disagreement her fiance’ took her rings off the table and walked out the side door of her house and threw her 3 rings over her garage. That was the scenario. Lois had a video from her security cameras showing him going through the motion of tossing something. The rings we were looking for was a diamond engagement, a grandmothers ring and a mothers ring. We started our search in her neighbors back yard which was deep grass and overgrown with bushes, flowers, metal fence and trash. We then looked on top of the roof of the garage and her back yard. After going through the yards sometimes on our hands and knees we found nothing. We thought we would find at least one of the rings but did not. Our suspicions, after repeated views of the video, was that the boyfriend never threw the rings.

Lois called her fiance’ and asked him, “the search did not turn up any rings, did you really throw them?”  He said he was trying to get her attention and would not throw $6,000 worth of rings away. So a video does not always tell the true story. I am sure they have made up and are now happy in their lives together.

Ring lost in Ocean Beach found

Bailey was at the beach, took his ring off, and tucked it into a shirt for safety. This is not just an ordinary ring. I is a big silver ring with an Indian cent mounted in the center, and was willed to him from his now deceased brother. Such an important family heirloom just had to be found!  With sunset approaching and the tide rising, I had to hot foot it down there immediately. I met Bailey at the beach and he showed me the relatively small search area just above the wet sand. At one point, he had moved from his original spot to a different location on the dry sand and apparently his ring escaped and fell somewhere between the two spots. The first spot was empty, so, I proceeded to the other spot, detecting along the way. My first target along the way sounded like it could be the ring, but, it was just a quarter. I continued my grid line and my next target was the object we both wanted to see. Bailey was very happy and relieved that it was recovered. A pleasure to meet you Bailey and thank you for the reward.

locked out in Ada, Michigan

I got a call from Jolanta L. the other day, She lost a key to her front door. I gathered my detector and picked up my fellow Ringfinder, Dave Boyer and headed to her house. Arriving to her house Jolanta explained that she was at the park behind her home playing with her grandchild. when she got back to the house she noticed here key was missing from her hoody pocket. The grassy area was about 50′ x 50′, after a short grid search the key was found. It took us longer to walk to the park than it did to find her key. She was happy to have her key returned and will go out and get some extra ones made.

Tyler was throwing a ball for his dog Daisy, when his wedding ring went flying off. Tyler searched and it was no where to be found. Tyler  searched the web for “renting a metal detector” when he found me. He called me and we made a plan to search. It took me two hours of careful grid searching and finally I recovered it.
So excited. I love my job.

Lost Gold Ruby & Diamond Eyed Skull Ring at Kuhio Beach Waikiki…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I got a call from Suemi who was on vacation in Waikiki from San Francisco California.  While her husband Mauricio was playing volleyball in the water at Kuhio Beach he spiked the ball and his most favorite Gold Skull Ring went flying off into chest deep water.  I just finished doing my yard work and told Suemi I would pack up my gear and head down to Waikiki and call her once I was parked.  Thankfully, parking and traffic was light.  When I arrived we talked by phone and Suemi guided me to her location on the beach.  She pointed in the water where Mauricio had been standing for 2 long hours since he lost the ring.  I briefly explained to Mauricio that I was going to do a grid search and to just remain where he was.  He pointed directly in front of himself saying that was the direction he spiked the ball.  The second leg of the grid was directly into that area and I got an immediate hit on the Nox.  In one scoop there was the most stunning ring I’d ever seen.  24+ grams of gold and one ruby and one diamond eye.  If you look close the skull is puffing on a stogie! The ring must have meant a ton to Mauricio as the entire family started celebrating with him and cheers ran up from the tourists on the beach.  What a wonderful family enjoying their last day in paradise.  Aloha to Mauricio, Suemi and the family!

Cartier ring found in Lake in the Hills

I receive a text from Yulia inquiring about a possible ring search.  Later in the day we spoke on the phone, she informed me that her husband  had lost his wedding ring somewhere in the yard while doing some yard work.  He had taken his ring off and put it in his pocket in fear of losing it while digging up some bushes. Within a half hour he noticed that his ring wasn’t in his pocket anymore.  He was using a tool in the garden and was keeping it in the same pocket as his ring. At some point he pulled the tool out of his pocket and the ring fell out at the same time. He had only been in two places in the half hour since he put the ring in his pocket. The front flower bed, and a raised garden in the backyard. When I arrived I did a thorough search of the flowerbed in the front yard. Nothing.  Yulia then showed me the area around the raised garden where her husband had been working.  No luck there either. Yulia then said that she remembered him walking from the raised bed into the back door of the house and asked if I could search his path. I said, of course. A few steps towards the house and I got a solid 13 on my Equinox 800. I didn’t see it at first glance. So I used the pinpointer and buried deep in the thick, plush grass was her husband’s Cartier ring!!

 

Success!!

Engagement & Wedding Ring Set Lost in the Water…FOUND by Ring Finder in Nashville, TN!

Sunday evening (June 18, 2023), I received a call from Sam and Jon.  Sam explained that the day prior she had lost her white gold wedding ring in a lake in Nashville, Tennessee.  This was actually 3 rings — the engagement ring soldered between 2 wedding bands.  Sam was trying to save her dog from drowning (dog is doing great) and the wedding ring set slipped off her finger in about 2 feet of water.  I was off from work the next day, so we arranged a search for Monday morning.

I met Sam and Jon at the lake around 10 am on Monday.  We were in-between rain showers, but the sky was clear at the moment.  I began searching with my Minelab Equinox 800 with the 10×5 Coiltek coil.  The lake bottom was very rocky (both large and small rocks), so the smaller coil allowed me to get into the tighter spaces.  I searched the main area where Sam thought she fell for about an hour.  I only found a fishing lure and some junk metal.

I asked Jon where he thought Sam fell at.  Both Jon and Sam walked over to the shoreline where he was standing when it happened.  I was detecting closer to the shoreline and caught a glimpse of something shiny.  I put my goggles on and dipped my face into the water.  Sure enough, it was Sam’s wedding ring set!  I picked it up and cupped it in my hand.  I stood up and Jon said, “I think Sam fell right where you’re standing at”.  I asked Sam if she thought this was the right area and she wasn’t sure.  I then said, “I think we need to call it a day and head home.”  Both Sam and Jon looked puzzled.  I then said, “because, I just found it!”  They said, “no way!”  I held up the ring for them to see and they were both so happy and relieved.  I really love this part of the search!  I walked over to them and handed Sam the ring.  She was so happy to have it back!  We all gave each other a high five and took some photos.  It had just started raining, so that was perfect timing.

Sam was standing much closer to the shoreline than she remembered, but she was also in a panic with her dog.  I’ve learned that our memories can be a bit off, but we just have to keep expanding our grid search area.  In the end, it doesn’t matter how long it takes, I’m just happy we found it and it’s back where it belongs.

We enjoyed a nice chat on our walk back to the parking lot.  They thanked me again for my efforts and we parted ways.  Another happy ending!  I thank God for another successful recovery and safe trip home.  Looking forward to the next adventure…
