White gold wedding band found in Denver’s Washington Park

  • from Denver (Colorado, United States)

I was attending the GPAA’s Gold and Treasure show when I received a call from Mike. He was in one of the local parks preparing to play volleyball when he decided to take off his white gold wedding band and place it into his pocket for safe keeping. After a few games and a few beers Mike decided it was time to walk home and reached for his wedding band. The ring was no longer in his pocket. His friends stopped playing and searched both courts that they played in and the area between them in earnest for his ring for several minutes. But they had no luck the ring was well hidden in the grass. After a quick internet search Mike found me  and left me a message on my cell phone. I noticed the message on my phone and called Mike back. I was only a 15 minute drive from the park and just happened to have a couple of detectors in my truck.

Upon my arrival Mike and I talked about the series of events that happened, he took me to the location where he had played. His friends were still there playing one last game of volleyball so the location of the hunt site was not in question. I searched the area between two courts that Mike had played on only recovering pull tabs. As his friends were taking down the final net I asked them to keep some sort of indications as to the net’s and sidelines locations. They left the court boundary line staked in the ground so I decided to run a couple of quick patterns along both sides of the net location. Within 15 feet of starting this pattern my V3i gave me a nice 13-14 reading and there was Mikes wedding band. I received a crushing group hug from Mikes friends and Mike was quite relieved to have his ring back.

Two rings lost at Coronado Beach Found

  • from La Jolla (California, United States)

Christie took off her two rings and put them in a zippered pouch in her beach chair for safe keeping. Her 4 year old daughter must not have thought that was a good enough place to store them, so, she transferred the rings without telling her mother, to another pouch that didn’t zipper shut. Time to leave and in moving the chairs, the ring disappeared into the sand…..somewhere. After finger shifting for quite some time, they gave up and left. I get the call later and arranged to meet Christie’s husband Matt down at the beach so he can show me the area where they were sitting. Naturally, the area looks a bit different when you return at a later date, so, the search area suddenly got a bit bigger. After searching the first area with no success, I moved a bit northwest up the beach, tried again, and found both of them within a few seconds of each other with my trusty E-trac. I was pleased to find them before someone else did at that busy beach. Matt was a happy man and sent me the photo of a happy Christie.

I was celebrating Mother’s Day at a local Chinese restaurant with my wife and her family when I got an urgent call from Scott. Apparently while he was enjoying the day swimming at Ko Olina lagoon #4 his Platinum Wedding ring fell off and disappeared in waist deep water. His attempt to locate the ring was futile as the sand in the lagoon is very loose and makes it impossible to find. I told Scott I could be there around 2 PM however he would need Ko Olina Security permission to metal detect in the lagoons as they are normally off limits to detecting. The Security Guard Nickolas was very helpful and actually reserved us some parking which was otherwise completely full. Scott on the other hand was very fortunate to remember exactly here the ring came off as the second leg of my box search nailed the ring. There were hugs and smiles all around. Aloha to Scott and his lovely wife.

Lost Women’s Silver Rings in Grandview Heights, OH. “FOUND”

I received a call about a pair of lost silver rings in the backyard somewhere. The rings have more sentimental value than they do monetary value. They were lost by a simple over head toss of a ball into the netted trampoline by his wife. And there went the rings flying through the air to be lost forever. After they search and search though the grass for the rings with luck, that is when they call me to do a search. I found one ring and a couple of feet later there was the other, both tuck into the grass from out of eye site. His was very happy to have the rings return back to them.

Lost ring at Mission Bay Found

  • from La Jolla (California, United States)

I was digging and sifting a dump site when I get a call for a lost ring at Mission Bay. Kianne had been working out on some equipment in the park when she noticed one of her rings was missing. She had removed two rings and placed them in a pocket before her exercises but now only one ring was still in the pocket. The one missing was a special gift, so, it just HAD to be found!  I loaded up and headed straight down to the bay to meet her.

The search area is built like a playground with a border and wood chips as ground cover. Real easy for a gold ring to get camouflaged in that stuff! All the equipment there is made of steel (figures) so I could only get so close to it with my E-trac. If it was right up next to them, I’d have to use my pin pointer or rake out the chips. Thankfully, I didn’t have to do that. After searching the first two areas that she used with no luck, I found it midway through the third area. Even though Kianne, her friend, and others had visually searched the areas, the ring was not spotted even though it was  partially visible! As soon as I got a “gold” signal, I looked down and could see most of the ring in the bark. A happy and smiling Kianne resulted as you can see. It was nice to meet you Kianne and thank you for the reward.

A happy man!

A happy man!

On April 17, 2015  I received a call from Dan asking if I could help to find his lost Platinum wedding band. He told me the story of the lost ring.He and his wife had visited a natural pond  here in New Jersey. They were enjoying themselves swimming when Dan pushed off of the wall to swim further out.At that point he felt his ring leave his finger. The remainder of their visit was spent trying to locate the ring to no avail.

Dan returned at a later date with a mask and an underwater flashlight, but he had no success finding the ring. The operator of the pond told Dan that they would be draining the pond in the Spring.

Dan called me and we met at the pond on Sunday,April 26 to search in the now drained pond. After an initial search in the area that Dan  remembered swimming in, we did not locate the ring.I shifted my search area about 15 feet and in 5 minutes  had a good signal on my detector. I brushed away about 2 inches of mud right at the side of the wall and there was his ring!

What a feeling to hand Dan his previously lost ring and see his face light up. This made his day as well as mine .the total search time was 1 hour, time well spent!
