White gold wedding band found in Denver’s Washington Park

  • from Denver (Colorado, United States)

I was attending the GPAA’s Gold and Treasure show when I received a call from Mike. He was in one of the local parks preparing to play volleyball when he decided to take off his white gold wedding band and place it into his pocket for safe keeping. After a few games and a few beers Mike decided it was time to walk home and reached for his wedding band. The ring was no longer in his pocket. His friends stopped playing and searched both courts that they played in and the area between them in earnest for his ring for several minutes. But they had no luck the ring was well hidden in the grass. After a quick internet search Mike found me  and left me a message on my cell phone. I noticed the message on my phone and called Mike back. I was only a 15 minute drive from the park and just happened to have a couple of detectors in my truck.

Upon my arrival Mike and I talked about the series of events that happened, he took me to the location where he had played. His friends were still there playing one last game of volleyball so the location of the hunt site was not in question. I searched the area between two courts that Mike had played on only recovering pull tabs. As his friends were taking down the final net I asked them to keep some sort of indications as to the net’s and sidelines locations. They left the court boundary line staked in the ground so I decided to run a couple of quick patterns along both sides of the net location. Within 15 feet of starting this pattern my V3i gave me a nice 13-14 reading and there was Mikes wedding band. I received a crushing group hug from Mikes friends and Mike was quite relieved to have his ring back.

Dentures found and a vacation saved!

  • from Lake Worth (Florida, United States)

As a Ring Finder, I get some unusual requests for lost items.  Last week I got a request from a young lady who’s mother had lost her dentures.  She was at the back bar, on the beach, at a very nice resort in Palm Beach.  She had fainted and when she came to, she was missing her teeth!

Before I had arrived, the staff had used many tools such as shovels and rakes to sift through and move sand about.  I was a bit concerned because this can actually make the recovery a bit more difficult.

It took a few hours of digging, because this particular area of the beach was a high traffic area located right next to a staircase, a bar and a trash can.  Trash can mask targets, so I first started by eliminating all objects I could.  Dentures have a bit of metal in them, they are connected by thin metal wires.  This does not register as the strongest signal, but it is definitely detectable.

After getting the area cleaned out, I got a hit and dug out the dentures!  The owner was very happy to be reunited with her teeth, as she was on vacation and it would have certainly been a spoiled time if she had to continue without them.

Two rings lost at Coronado Beach Found

  • from La Jolla (California, United States)

Christie took off her two rings and put them in a zippered pouch in her beach chair for safe keeping. Her 4 year old daughter must not have thought that was a good enough place to store them, so, she transferred the rings without telling her mother, to another pouch that didn’t zipper shut. Time to leave and in moving the chairs, the ring disappeared into the sand…..somewhere. After finger shifting for quite some time, they gave up and left. I get the call later and arranged to meet Christie’s husband Matt down at the beach so he can show me the area where they were sitting. Naturally, the area looks a bit different when you return at a later date, so, the search area suddenly got a bit bigger. After searching the first area with no success, I moved a bit northwest up the beach, tried again, and found both of them within a few seconds of each other with my trusty E-trac. I was pleased to find them before someone else did at that busy beach. Matt was a happy man and sent me the photo of a happy Christie.

I was celebrating Mother’s Day at a local Chinese restaurant with my wife and her family when I got an urgent call from Scott. Apparently while he was enjoying the day swimming at Ko Olina lagoon #4 his Platinum Wedding ring fell off and disappeared in waist deep water. His attempt to locate the ring was futile as the sand in the lagoon is very loose and makes it impossible to find. I told Scott I could be there around 2 PM however he would need Ko Olina Security permission to metal detect in the lagoons as they are normally off limits to detecting. The Security Guard Nickolas was very helpful and actually reserved us some parking which was otherwise completely full. Scott on the other hand was very fortunate to remember exactly here the ring came off as the second leg of my box search nailed the ring. There were hugs and smiles all around. Aloha to Scott and his lovely wife.

Lost Women’s Silver Rings in Grandview Heights, OH. “FOUND”

I received a call about a pair of lost silver rings in the backyard somewhere. The rings have more sentimental value than they do monetary value. They were lost by a simple over head toss of a ball into the netted trampoline by his wife. And there went the rings flying through the air to be lost forever. After they search and search though the grass for the rings with luck, that is when they call me to do a search. I found one ring and a couple of feet later there was the other, both tuck into the grass from out of eye site. His was very happy to have the rings return back to them.

Lost Ring Pismo Beach Calif.

  • from Pismo Beach (California, United States)

Mark another one up for “The Ring Finders” I had just got in from a rough day at the doctors, you know the kind where they poke, prod and dispense advice you don’t want to hear, I had stopped at the store for a few groceries on the way home, as I was hauling them into the house the phone rang. A young sounding voice asked if I was the guy on “The Ring Finders” from Pismo Beach? ” Yes, what can I do for you?” I answered. He told me he had just got married one day ago and they were on their honeymoon, and while playing in the dry sand he had lost his wedding ring on Pismo Beach about 3 hours earlier.

He rented a cheap metal detector locally, but did not know how to operate it and soon discovered it would not even beep when going over his wife’s wedding ring so he took it back. Dejected, he and his wife went back to their motel room. While wondering what to do he got on line and asked “How to find a lost ring” and “The Ring Finders” came up, clicking on the links he found and called me wanting to know if I could find his lost wedding ring. I got the details and arranged to meet him in 20 minutes at Pismo Beach. Once we were at the area where he was sure the ring was lost I asked him to draw a big circle that he was sure the ring was in, “don’t go little make it bigger than you think it should be” I told him and he did, about 30′ across. Once I started my pattern and had covered half the circle I had a hunch and went out side the circle and after one lap and about 3′ outside the circle I found his ring. Total hunt time a little over 15 minutes and the look on him and his new brides face was priceless when I handed back the ring

Jenifers lost ring 4-22-15

The Ring Finders and a Royal Success

I recently got a call from a distressed young lady who lost a 1-carat diamond ring set in Platinum on Avila beach about three miles from Pismo Beach on 4/26/15. The lady, Jennifer had been crying since the loss, Jennifer had taken the ring off to put on some suntan lotion and forgot to put the ring back on after setting it on the blanket. The afternoon winds came up so she hurriedly shook the blanket and headed to the parking lot, upon arriving at her car she realized the ring was not on her finger. She raced back to the area, but to no avail, the ring was not found. Jennifer then went home to tell her husband the sad news, her husband was livid and then stopped speaking to her(He had paid $7500 for the ring).

Through a round about way a former “The Ring Finders” member, now disabled and unable to metal detect suggested Jennifer contact me. The next day I met the Jennifer on Avila Beach at an agreed to time and walked to the area where she said she had been resting in the sand. I knew the direction prevailing winds on Avila beach blow and which side one would stand shake a blaket, so with a little logic within 45 seconds and ten steps, I got a nice hit and pulled up the ring in my basket, Jennifer was elated and started crying. I think I might have got a few grains of sand in my eyes at the same time. With a tears of joy running down her face and a big hug she forced a $100 bill into my shirt pocket in thanks (for saving her happy home).

If it had not been for “The Ring Finders” Jennifer might have never gotten her precious ring back. I joined “The Ring Finders” the very next day.
