Lost Custom Wedding Ring near Lincoln Heights…Found!!

  • from Spokane (Washington, United States)

There once was a happy couple named Kassidy and Brian. They walked joyfully around a bike park while their kids rode their bikes. They sat for a while on a bench. Then they walked around the paths in the park and lastly headed back to their car. The days errands needed to be completed, so off to the grocery store they went. Then they returned back to their house. Kassidy had to begin working on the chores. Back and forth she went from left to right, walked all the while keeping a steady pace through each task. There were pumpkins to move, leaves to pile up, grumpy kids to tend to and then lastly a shovel to find. As Kassidy was walking with her shovel she could feel the coolness of the day creep into her hands. Nevertheless, Kassidy kept on working. Cleaning the chicken run, feeding and watering, and new bedding in the nesting boxes. The last step of putting fresh bedding in the nesting area caused another feeling to creep in. The last handful of wood shavings that she was throwing into the box, gave her a familiar feeling. Kassidy’s ring was gone. The fact of the matter was this wasn’t the first time that ring had fallen off. In fact, she knew the very sound it made when it would fall off of her hand and hit the ground. This time was different; the not so happy couple hadn’t the foggiest idea of where it came off at.

The story I normally tell is that the person who lost an item finds me and then I try to find their item. For this story that isn’t how it went. See I got a call at work, it was from one of my colleagues, he had a question about my metal detecting skills. One of his friends had told him about his wife losing her ring. After a day with no contact, I spoke to my colleague about the situation. After a few texts from my colleague to his friend, I got a call from the friend, Brian. We talked and I got the details of where I would search first. So off to the park where the happy couple started their day. After showing up to the park, the evening had come to a close. I had a head lamp but searching in the dark was hard. There were pits and jumps everywhere, I didn’t find the ring there.

After that search, Brian and I talked about meeting up on Saturday. When I arrived in the morning to Brian and Kassidy’s house, I was taken on a tour of their property. Kassidy had been really busy and shown me everywhere the ring could have fallen off. Which was almost anywhere she had walked because the ring would fall off her finger without a forceful action. The tour ended and I asked her where she thought the ring could have fallen off. Her mind told her that it was most likely the chicken coop area. The nesting box was small, so I got out my pin pointer and searched the wood shavings. The next place I thought to look was the bag she had been pulling the shavings out of. At no point did I assume I would find the ring, because the couple had done all they could do to back track her movements. I used my pin pointer on the top of the shavings and then brought the bag out to a clear area to scan it with my metal detector. Swinging the coil around the bag I didn’t get any signals. However, when I tipped the bag over a very clear signal came out of my headphones. I checked the VDI number and saw a 12 on the screen. Thinking the ring was white gold I bent down to take a closer look. The ring was in the bag. I couldn’t believe it. I was thinking there was just a very slim chance this ring was somewhere on their property. But now I was standing over its hiding place wondering if I should surprise the couple. Walking with the bag in hand over to the front door, I thought I would ask for a demonstration from Kassidy on how she was grabbing the shavings out of the bag. Brian went and got Kassidy, and she gladly showed me what she did. The bags opening was facing up and the ring was down away from Kassidy, so I tipped the bag over to reveal the ring sitting inside the bag. Kassidy was in complete shock when she stuck her hand into the bag and retrieved the ring. I was also in shock that the ring was so well hidden inside the bag that it spent two weeks in there without being found. The ring back on Kassidy’s finger and the warm embrace of the couple hugging brought the happiness back to the couple and so concludes a Ring Finders happy ending.

Mr John had recently lost some weight and his platinum wedding ring was needing some resizing…so off to the jeweler they went. When they got home, Mr John thought he had enough time to mow one half of the front yard so he uncovered his riding mower and started cutting. There are a couple of areas where the tree branches hang down really close to the ground and as he mowed he had to push the branches aside. An hour later, while getting a drink, he noticed his wedding ring was not on his finger and the most obvious thing he could think of was that it must have come off while he was mowing! For two days he and his wife would walk through the yard with flashlights at night or during high noon when the sun was directly overhead with hopes of spotting his lost ring. For 46 years John and his wife have been married and the thought of never seeing his ring again was very troubling. Thinking there had to be some kind of service that involved a metal detector, he went online and found theringfinders.com and one of my stories. I agreed to come out and look at John’s yard and realized right away that this would be no easy task…because John’s yard was VERY LARGE! As I listened to John explain his routine when mowing I saw the low hanging branches and figured I would check those areas first off and BINGO! On the 2nd area I heard the sweet sound of gold and saw the glint of shiny Platinum! As John bent down to retrieve his once lost and now found wedding ring…I noticed a few tears welling up in his eyes and I could not help but feel a twinge of the same emotions in my own heart! John was so happy and the relief was obvious!

Lost Ear Ring in yard during Party

  • from Dallas (Texas, United States)
Contact:

We got a call from a young man in a panic.  He lost his “Diamond” Ear Ring in the front yard of his Aunt’s house at a Halloween Party.  They were taking photos of the really cool Grave Site display in the front yard.  He lifted his girlfriend on to his shoulders and they took some fun photos, then he sat her back down and they walked across the yard and he realized the Diamond Ear Ring was gone.  Their pictures showed he had it on when his girlfriend was on his shoulders,  but in a 2nd picture across the yard the Ear Ring was gone.  He said everyone ate the party was on their hands and knees trying to find it for over an hour.  He and his girlfriend had tried using 3 different metal detectors but with no luck.

So in a last ditch effort before the yard guys came out he turned to the Internet to see if anyone did this kind of searching and immediately the Dallas Ring Finders popped up.  We arrived the next afternoon.  Fortunately he had a matching Ear Ring we were able to get a signal to match too.  After searching the yard with our Garrett AT Pro’s running on their highest sensitivity we had no luck.   So we had to get out our secret weapon our “Garret Super Sniper Coil” that is designed for very tiny objects.  After getting a matching reading on the 2nd Ear Ring we were about to give up searching, I decided to check the prime target area one more time and I got a matching signal.  Using our Garrett Pinpointer I worked it into the very thick grass and I saw the glint and I knew I had it.  And the rest is happy history…..

Lost Oura eRing at Aulani Beach Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began during the Summer, when a gentleman named Mike, who was on vacation from Alberta, Canada and staying at the Aulani Resort approached me on the beach and asked if I could hunt for his Size 15 Oura eRing.  I proceeded to hunt the areas he thought it might be lost but I was unsuccessful during that hunt.  Fast forward to October after the Aulani Resort performed a beach sand restoration project I was walking in shallow water when I got an unusual tone on the Manticore.  After one scoop there was a huge Man’s Oura eRing in the scoop.  I remembered Mike and texted him in Canada if this was the one he had been looking for?  His response, “OMG!  Yes it is.”  We arranged for a return via the Postal Service and Mike sent me this picture today from his home in Canada.  BRRR!  It looks cold there but still got a Shaka.  Never give up the hunt.  Aloha to Mike!

Have you ever been asked to hold something for safe keeping and end up loosing that item? It happens allot and this is what happened with Brian and his daughter. Upon arriving at a local outdoor fall festival event Brian’s daughter asked him to pocket her two rings while she enjoyed all the rides and food and at the end of the day, while they were walking to the car she asked her dad for her rings and he only pulled one ring out of his pocket! It was like her class ring had simply disappeared. They back tracked where they had spent time and were not able to find her ring. Brian’s daughter was quite upset and Brian left word with the owners about the lost ring. I spent some time searching for the ring during the following day and it was found in the large grassy parking lot right where Brian had parked his car the day before. Brian and his daughter were very, very happy to get the ring back!

Lost Diamond Wedding Ring .. Blue Lagoon Resort, Laguna Beach, CA.

  • from Newport Beach (California, United States)

Call a professional metal detector for help locating a ring in the sand, park or backyard.. Stan the Metal Detector Man .. 949-500-2136

*** Cara dropped her small gold diamond wedding ring in the sand while vacationing at the Blue Lagoon Resort in Laguna Beach, CA. She called me for help. After discussing some details of her loss and her availability to meet me at the general location, I drove to help her on the beach.

Within an hour after she called, I was on the beach with my metal detecting equipment.

I got a couple trash metal targets, then I got another mixed sound signal that seemed to be trash metal. I dug the signal even though it could be trash. “Boom”.. a terrible signal turns out to be a bobby pin and Cara’s diamond wedding ring. More than one type metal next to each other can give false signals..  Experienced metal detector people know this.

Cara was very happy that her sentimental ring has not been lost forever .

Ring Found Underwater by Rob Ellis and Ray Jones, Lake Anna, Virginia

  • from Fairfax (Virginia, United States)

Smile!

Henok was having a great time swimming in Lake Anna, Virginia. Then he realized his beautiful (new) wedding band was missing. I called my friend Ray Jones, and we arranged to meet at the lake.

Henok and his friends had anchored a float where they thought the ring had dropped in twelve feet of water. Ray and I enjoy diving together for lost items, and it was his turn to search first. I watched from the surface for over an hour as he covered the area around the float. When he surfaced, Ray told me how easily the area silted out and that there were hydrilla weeds. But luckily, there were no underwater trees or other obstructions. With that information, I decided to use my homemade circle search device.

It meters out exactly 28 inches in a spiral, with a total diameter of thirty feet. It allows me to detect small items in low visibility water. I searched for an hour and a half, while Ray took his turn as the safety surface watch.

After a thorough search, I concluded the ring was not near the float. When we interviewed Henok, he told us where he had jumped in the water off the dock. Since the ring was not near the float, I decided to search that area.

I changed SCUBA tanks and used a modified jackstay line search. I searched back and forth, working parallel to the face of the dock. Withing fifteen minutes I heard a clear sound from my Deus 2 and uncovered Henok’s ring. It was only a few feet from the dock!

Ray and I were thrilled to return Hanok’s ring. After he left, we decided to get back into the water some fun detecting. We found some expensive furniture pieces and put them on the deck for the property owners. Then, Ray found two civil war bullets!!! What a great day!

Lost Gold Ring Found in Saint Clair Michigan

  • from Detroit (Michigan, United States)

He Was There for the BOOS…

and the trick or treats but when Halloween was all said and done, Mark’s ring was missing. Pulling a graveyard shift into dead of the night he didn’t want to turn into a pumpkin, so he stopped searching. Did the ring come off while passing out candy? Did it fall into someone’s candy bag? Or did it fall off earlier that day doing yard chores? He was spellbound by the eerie disappearance and got a toy type metal detector hoping that would work but perhaps brought about bats in the belfry trying to use it after no luck with it. Playing the devil’s advocate, I said there’s more than a ghost of a chance I’ll find the ring if it’s there in your yard. I started a grid search after finding out the area Mark was during the day. A few sweeps of the metal detector coil off in a grass area revealed his ring! I held it up and said here’s your boo-tiful ring! He said thank you and that he was scared stiff that the ring would not be found. I ghoulishly smiled and said I had a scary good time!

Lost Rose Gold Engagement Ring w/ Moss Agate Stone Found in Davison Michigan

  • from Detroit (Michigan, United States)

Courtney’s Nightmares…..

About her lost engagement ring have been haunting her for a while. Ever since last September at her sister’s Labor Day gathering reoccurring thoughts day and night overwhelm her as to its whereabouts. When will these dark thoughts stop troubling her? How long will its location be cloaked in mystery? Or will the spiritual power of the rose gold and agate stone help return it and reunite her with the new beginnings in her life? The night was dark as a velvet carpet and as she travelled to her sister’s place for Halloween, she began to have premonitions of finding her ring. Arriving to find a bonfire and trick or treaters lifted her spirits. Around the witching hour, as she sat next to the dwindling bonfire she drifted off into sleep. In a dream a man appeared with a machine that howled as he passed it along the ground. He reached down and exhumed an object and walked towards her. Placing it in her hand she was startled awake by her sister shouting BOO! trick or treat… while nudging her asking if she was ok. Courtney said yes and excitedly exclaimed that she found her ring. Where? How? the sister asked. It was here, next to the fire, I fell asleep and a man with a metal detector handed it to me! I didn’t see anyone out here the sister said and added, ok enough of the spine-tingling stories can’t you just creep things real??  Courtney said, believe whitcha want but the ring can finally rest in peace on my finger where it belongs, how’s that for a scarytale ending!

Two Lost Gold Rings Found in Mt. Juliet, TN With a Metal Detector

  • from Nashville (Tennessee, United States)

Two Gold Rings Lost Over a Span of Ten Years Found in Mt. Juliet, TN With a Metal Detector.

Harriet contacted me on 10-29-2025 regarding not one, but two very special gold rings that she had lost on her property in Mt. Juliet, TN. One of the rings was lost just earlier on this date while doing some yard work. The ring had been custom made for her twenty years ago, with the names of her four (now all adult-aged) children engraved around the circumference. Harriet had used her National Geographic metal detector that she’s had for years to look for the ring, unsuccessfully for several hours before finding my information on TheRingFinders website.

Harriet then told me about wedding ring that she lost on her property ten years ago, also while doing some yard work. She described it as a woven, Celtic patterned heavy gold band. Her husband has a matching wedding band. These rings were custom made for them in 1986 by a goldsmith in the “Arcade” area of Downtown Nashville.

We agreed that I would come and conduct a thorough search of the property for the rings on 11-01-2025. I arrived at 10am as promised and Harriet met me outside. The expansive property was once where a log house stood, but burned down over 100 years ago. The property has been in her husband’s family for generations. After Harriet pointed out the areas she had been when she believed she had lost the rings, I grabbed my gear, started a timer and got to searching.

Right at the three minute mark I found the first ring that was lost just days ago. It was in the general area, buried deep in pine needles, where Harriet thought it could be. I knocked on the door and handed the ring to Harriet, who was in total disbelief. She gave me a huge hug. She said she had swung her detector over that area, but it was basically making noise wherever she swung the coil over. One ring found and one to go. Timer reset.

I went to the brush pile where Harriet believed she lost her wedding band a decade ago and has been throwing tree trimmings and weeds for over twenty years. There were also thorny vines, weeds and saplings in this area to complicate things. After knocking down much of the vegetation growing there, I was able to squeeze my metal detector coil in between some saplings. After about thirty nails, screws and other miscellaneous metal pieces were detected and removed from the soil, I found another grouping of six large rusty nails about six inches deep in the soil. And let’s not forget the four inches of vines, decayed wood and weeds that had accumulated on top of the soil over the last few decades. Using my pinpointer, I probed around the loose soil and finding each of the six nails, one at a time. What I expected to a seventh nail was in fact Harriet’s beautiful gold wedding ring. The timer was now at 55 minutes. Wow! Two gold rings found in just under one hour.

I brushed the wedding ring off and placed it on top of a fence post. I called Harriet and asked her to come outside because I had some questions about the weed pile. I told her about all the trashy metal items that I was digging, then said, “Oh, and then I found this!” and handed her the ring. The shocked and joyous look on her face was worth a million bucks. She again gave me the biggest hugs. She said for ten years her wedding ring was right in the area where suspected it was. She even said another friend of hers who gold prospects had looked for the ring with his metal detector, but could never find it. She specifically bought the National Geographic metal detector after losing this ring, and used it countless times around the brush pile, but only heard the constant chattering from the machine.

I know this is a long story, but it gets even better. Right after Harriet lost her wedding ring, her husband, Larry, started growing a beard, which she did not approve of. Larry told Harriet, when she finds her wedding ring, he’ll shave off his beard. Harriet asked me to help her play a joke on Larry, and of course I agreed. She handed me her wedding ring and she retrieved a disposable shaving razor from inside the house. At this point Larry was only aware of me finding the first ring. After a few minutes of conversation with Larry and Harriet near the back of my truck, I started showing Larry all the nails, screws and other metal junk that I dug up around the brush pile. I then pulled out Harriet’s wedding ring and said, “Larry, this ring I found sure looks a lot like your wedding ring, don’t ya think?” Harriet then pulled out the razor and we both told Larry a deal is a deal and he needed to shave off his beard. Whether Larry shaves off his beard or not, I know in my heart that I brought so much joy and relief to Harriet and Larry. It’s truly a blessing to be able to recover precious items that people think are lost forever. The story behind these two rings will go on. I wish all ring searches were this successful, but sadly a 100% success rate is not realistic. To find one missing ring for a client feels awesome. To find two missing rings for the same client, with one being buried for the last ten years, well there just aren’t enough words to describe how great it feels.
