Lost wedding ring in ocean, Toronita Beach, Fl….Found and Returned!

I received an email from Omar stating, “I just realized this morning that I lost my wedding ring. It probably happened at Toronita Beach yesterday evening. The tide was high and I was boogie boarding. Please call me if you think there is a chance that you can find it.” It was close to midnight when I read Omar’s plea for help and I answered immediately wanting to encourage and instill some hope. I always start by asking some very pertinent questions like…What time of the day were you in the water? Did you feel your ring come off? How large of an area did you swim in and how long were you in the water? How deep was the water where you were boogie boarding and how far out did you go? Thankfully Omar responded early the next morning and gave very descriptive answers to all my questions regarding the how, when and where! And one key piece of information about their boogie boarding was he and his daughters were trying to see how far they could ride the waves all the way to the wet sand. With that knowledge and the fact they were in the water at “high tide” put the target area in a much easier part of the beach to metal detect, especially at low tide!

The next morning I met Omar at the beach, two hours before low tide, and he showed me the area where he and his family spent the evening boogie boarding. One thing he did mention was that while they were in the water he remembered a yellow house up past the dunes and they never went past the south side of that property. So that gave me a starting point. I promptly set up some flags in the sand every 15 feet apart until I had an area approximately 150 feet wide. By this time low tide was an hour away and I was hoping and praying that his ring would be somewhere in the wet sand area. After saying a prayer with Omar in the parking lot I geared up and started my systematic grid search and worked my way from the first flag and headed out to the waters edge and back. It took about an hour to cover half of the area and I managed to find a few coins and the occasional rusty nail. At one point I popped out a large gold hoop earring and just the edge was exposed in the sand and I thought, “There is Omar’s ring!” But false alarm! Fifteen minutes later I got a great signal on my Whites TDI Beach Hunter metal detector and low and behold it was Omar’s beautiful gold ring!

Omar put it this way….”After over 21 years, I lost my ring for the first time. My wife sympathetically searches my brain and our house but the ocean waves are the thief. First reaction horror. Then disbelief, confusion, disappointment, frustration. Hopelessness pairs with helplessness until I arrive at a desperate web search. Theringfinders.com. Do I dare to hope? I send out an SOS email. Mike responds with a shower of useful questions. I carefully respond to each one. He graciously responds building cautious optimism. “God willing I will find your ring.” We meet at the beach. The search process begins. His faith and experience at work. I retreat back to my job, un-expectantly settled and able to focus. Excited about premonition in my life. In just a few hours Mike unearths a victory. I become like a little child filled with an excitement not felt in decades. The ring is not just a comfortable object, but symbolic of so much more to me. How is it that humans come to value a thing whose true worth is not known until it is lost and then found. Read Luke 15 to understand. Sincerely, Omar”

How I thank God for giving me the opportunity to meet and help Omar and his dear family.
Maybe you need hope and help to find something you’ve lost.

Lost ring in the sand, Daytona Beach, Fl…..Found and Returned!

Chris, Aurelia and their four young children were at the beach enjoying a beautiful day of swimming and playing in the surf when suddenly Aurelia looked at her hand and her diamond engagement/wedding ring was not on her finger! She could not imagine how her ring had come off and where it could possibly be! She remembered putting suntan lotion on the kids and then she was sitting in her chair by the waters edge and there was also a brief time when she had played with her children in the shallow water. Aurelia was stunned as the impact and realization of what had happened sunk in and she wondered was there anything that could be done to find her ring?!

Two days later they were directed to theringfinders.com website and when Chris called me we decided to try and search the following day at low tide. Upon hearing their story I tried to piece together just what would have caused her ring to come off and everything pointed to the short time she spent in the shallow water playing with her children roughly two hours after low tide.

Monday afternoon I arrived at the beach a good two hours before low tide hoping and praying I was not to late. As I discussed the details with Chris and Aurelia I felt the need to pray and ask God to help me find their ring! With the family gathered around I committed my time and effort to the Lord and then went about doing a grid search in and out of the water. I had set out four pvc poles to make sure I was going in straight lines and still no ring after the first hour. I then headed up to the dry sand where they had placed their tent and towels and again no ring. Next I began grid searching the wet sand in between the water and the dry sand. After three passes I got a perfect signal and -BANG- up pops a man’s tungsten ring! False alarm! Then four rows over I get another perfect signal–only this time I see yellow gold in the hole!! I called Chris over and told him to dig in the center of the small hole I had scooped out with the toe of my scuba boot! I whispered another prayer of thanksgiving as I realize again what an honor and joy it is to help people find their lost treasures! God bless you Chris and Aurelia and your dear little family!

Maybe you’ve lost something recently? Call ASAP!

Jennifer and her family were on vacation in St. Augustine Beach, Florida when the unthinkable happened! Read what Jennifer wrote: “Hi Mike. Again I cannot thank you enough for finding my hubby’s ring! We appreciate your quick response to what was a terrible way to start a vacation! I will admit that I was very skeptical when theringfinders.com web site was recommended to me but you accomplished what I thought would surely be an impossible task. I know that everyone values their wedding rings but his is extra special! Not only did we inherit our wedding ring set from my parents, it also survived my husband’s near fatal car accident 14 months ago. This was our first vacation and his first time back to the ocean since then. We appreciate your prayers for him! And I want you to know that after we met in person and talked, I knew that the Lord had sent the help I had asked for, He sent us you!!
Thank you again Mike and God bless! Sincerely, Jennifer and Chandler, from Georgia”

P.S. I had to wait till midnight for low tide and was very thankful for a beautiful full moon that lit up the whole beach. And the waves were up to three and a half feet so I was getting pushed around a good bit and it took three and a half hours but it was all so very worth the effort to see that lost gold wedding ring in my scoop and then to see the tearful joy and relief on Jennifer’s face!

I received a very urgent text from Cory asking if I could possibly help him find his wife’s lost rings at the beach. Here is what Cory wrote a couple of days later.

“During a family vacation at New Smyrna Beach my wife misplaced her engagement and wedding rings. Once we figured this out we frantically searched the sand for hours and found nothing. Later that evening my wife did a search on Google under, “How to find missing stuff on the beach” and that brought up theringfinders.com website. We then contacted Mike McInroe and the following morning he arrived, asked several questions and started to search for the rings. Within 15 minutes he located the rings and this brought great relief and happiness to our family! We can’t thank him enough for his work. We were very lucky and extremely grateful for Mike’s efforts. Thanks again, Cory McAllister”

Lost ring while playing football, Springfield, Ill…..found and returned!

While visiting with good friends in Springfield, Illinois, I mentioned that I had my metal detector in the car and would be willing to look for anything they might have lost in their yard over the years. They remembered one special ring that was lost 15 years ago during a touch football game. Apparently the youth group from their church would come out and play games, have bonfires and spend the evening on the farm. Our friends kids always enjoyed playing games and their son, Kurt in particular, would set up a small area to play football. The youth group leaders would join the kids as they played and on that fateful day, Crista, felt her rings fly off of her hand as she went to catch the football. Everyone immediately stopped playing and they began searching for her two lost rings in the thick grass. Moments later one of the teens found her engagement ring but the small gold wedding ring was no where to be found. This particular ring was a family heirloom that was handed down to Crista from her grandmother. The lost ring was never found and they gave up hope of ever seeing it again. Over the years the ring slowly sank into the thick grass and damp soil but being made of gold, it never tarnished or corroded. Fifteen years later I was given the opportunity to search for this long lost ring. I set up 4 corner flags and started my grid search pattern. Being as the ring was rather thin, I figured I needed to dig every signal that sounded even close to what a small gold ring would sound like. Three hours later I dug a quiet repeatable signal and there in my pile of dirt I say the glint of gold! And sure enough it was Crista’s lost ring!
Many times lost rings remain very close to where they were originally lost. Maybe you know of a lost ring that was never found. Give me a call and we can discuss the possibilities of doing a search. Never hurts to ask!

Lost gold ring at Daytona Beach, Florida….Found and Returned!

While out searching the rough surf for a large gold necklace, I was getting tired and thirsty and decided to take a short break. As I sat there relaxing and enjoying the beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean, a man approached me and explained his dilemma. Two weeks earlier, Teddy had been walking on the beach and towards the end of his walk he noticed a bunch of garbage in an area of the soft sand and decided he would do the noble thing and pick up the trash and deposit it where it belonged…..in the garbage can! Earlier in his walk, he had been fiddling with his ring and for some “unknown” reason he slipped the ring onto his pinkie finger, where it was a tad loose.
He proceeded to pick up the garbage, bending over to retrieve each item and he put it all into a small plastic grocery bag, which was then thrown into the appropriate can. And when he walked up to his apartment he noticed his ring was no longer on his finger and immediately Teddy returned to the garbage can and pulled out the bag. But his ring was not in amongst the garbage so he retraced his steps and soon realized that the ring had probably slipped off and into the dry, soft sand.
For two weeks Teddy waited to ask someone with a metal detector to help him locate his lost gold ring and when he spotted me in the surf with my Whites Dual Field metal detector he boldly approached me with his story and I was more than willing to lend him a hand. It took a half hour to cover the small area where Teddy picked up the trash and there close to the concrete steps was Teddy’s lost ring, hiding under a couple inches of sand. Glad you asked for my help Teddy! And I know there are allot of other people out there who need my help as well! Call, text or email me, ASAP!

Lost ring in Daytona Beach surf, Florida….Found and Returned!

Daytona Beach, Florida is a great place to enjoy the Atlantic Ocean. There are miles and miles of beaches, more sand than one can imagine and refreshing, warm salty water to play and swim in until your heart is very content! Unless of course you happen to lose your wedding ring. And that is exactly what happened to Bart on August 18th, 2018 while playing catch with a football in knee deep water with his young son. They immediately stopped playing and scoured the sandy bottom, desperate to find his lost ring. Unfortunately his ring had simply vanished.
Later that evening as they were searching online, they typed in “Lost Ring” and up popped a story on theringfinders.com website. They found my name in the directory and gave me a call. My wife and I were traveling in Wisconsin at the time and I referred them to other Ringfinder members….but sadly no one was available to help them.
Three weeks later I contacted Bart and he was able to describe quite accurately the exact area where he lost his ring. It took an hour to drive to south Daytona Beach and after setting up my flags in the wet sand, I proceeded to carefully grid search the targeted area. Signals were scarce and after an hour and a half I got a promising tone and there three inches down in the wet sand was Bart’s lost wedding ring! What a pleasure it was to meet you Bart and your dear wife Cindy and may your love story continue on for another 24 years! God bless and have a wonderful life!

Lost wedding ring, Lighthouse Point Park, Ponce Inlet, Florida….Found and Returned!

Marcia called me on Saturday wanting to know if I was available to help her look for her lost rings. While she and her husband were enjoying swimming in the ocean they got to talking about getting tan lines and Marcia wanted to see if under her rings she had any tan lines. She was in waist deep water at the time and she pulled her rings only slightly down her finger to see if she had any of those dreaded “tan lines” and then the unimaginable happened. Her rings simply slid the rest of the way down her finger and into the churning surf. She could not believe what had just happened. She and her husband frantically began searching the water but her rings just seemed to vanish.
Thankfully Marcia found theringfinders.com web site and decided to give me a call. Rings lost in the water at the beach require someone to look as soon as possible, so the following day I met Marcia at the Lighthouse Point Park and she showed me the area where they were when the “unimaginable” happened! I set out four corner flags in the wet sand and two flags down the middle and started my grid search in and out of the water. The rings were dropped around three hours before high tide in waist deep water so that meant I needed to thoroughly search quite a large area. I was amazed that Marcia was able to remember where she lost her rings in the surf because after an hour of searching I pulled her wedding ring out of the sand in three feet of water. I thought for sure the engagement ring would be somewhere in the same area but I just could not find it. Come to find out the engagement ring was a thinner band and had a large 1 carat diamond set up high. Could it be that my metal detector just could not find such a thin gold ring? Or did the large diamond sticking up cause the ring to tumble around and get pushed to another location?
Three days later I went back at low tide and searched again for four more hours and still could not find Marcia’s 2nd lost ring. Thankfully Marcia was able to get her wedding ring back and that gave her plenty to be grateful for!

Lost gold necklace, Daytona Beach, Florida…..Found and Returned!

Amber sent me a text asking about The Ring Finders service and how soon I could come out and help find her lost gold necklace. Apparently she was by a lake behind her apartment sunbathing and decided to take off her necklace for fear of getting a tan line. She laid her gold necklace on the towel and soon forgot all about it. A mother duck came by with 6 little babies and Amber decided to have a closer look. She gathered up her towel and walked along the waters edge over to where the little ducks were. She spent a few minutes observing the little ducklings and then headed up to her apartment. An hour later Amber felt her neck and was stunned to realize her chain was missing. She remembered taking it off and laying it on her towel so she ran downstairs and out the door, retracing her steps all the way back to where she had taken her necklace off. The grass was thick and Amber hoped that she would be able to see her gold necklace against the green color of the grass. But it ended up being much more difficult because of the small bits of dead grass here and there that were the exact same color as her gold necklace. After searching for some time and not finding it, Amber realized she needed some help so she typed “Metal detector-lost necklace” into her phone and up popped theringfinders.com web site. The next day I was able to meet Amber and do a successful search and it was amazing how well her golden necklace blended in with the grass. It took 10 minutes of grid searching the exact area where she picked up her towel and the relief was obvious when I showed her where her lost necklace was hiding. Thank you Amber for calling me and giving me the opportunity to help you in your time of need.

Lost engagement ring, Daytona Beach, Florida….Found and Returned!

I received a frantic call from a dear young lady named Ellie and by the tone and stress in her voice it was apparent she was upset and flustered. For the life of me I could not understand what she was saying and she soon hung up. One minute later, Will called me and explained the situation. Will’s girlfriend’s sister, Kelly had lost her engagement ring in the sand at Daytona Beach and they had spent allot of time searching for the ring with no success. So I dropped what I was doing and told Will I would be there within the hour.
When I arrived at the beach I was greeted by four young adults with anxious looks on their faces. They showed me where Kelly had walked from the beach heading towards an aluminum stairway and apparently while she was approaching the stairway she was brushing the sand from her hands and from around her diamond engagement ring. When all of a sudden her ring slipped off her finger and dropped into the soft sand at the base of the stairway. They also explained that they had asked an elderly gentleman who was metal detecting on the beach, if he could please help them locate the lost ring, but he was unable to find it. So my first thought was to start by the aluminum stairway and work my way out onto the sand. My first pass along the stairway I got a “99” reading at three spots where the stair beams went down into the sand and just inches away I got a solid “44” reading on my Garrett AT Max metal detector. The first signal, the first scoop and there was Kelly’s lost diamond engagement ring! They had given up all hope and now they could hardly believe their eyes! I thanked God for another very happy search ending and for allowing Kelly’s ring story to continue!
