Around lunchtime, I received a call from Kim, requesting help to find a bracelet lost on the beach. Unfortunately, I missed the call as I was out on the beach as well, enjoying the beautiful day, with family and friends. The Jersey Shore location has limited cell phone signal capabilities unfortunately . I called Kim back as soon as I could. She explained that her son, Liam, had been playing soccer with his nephews and nieces when he noticed his bracelet was missing. The bracelet was irreplaceable, purchased in the Virgin Islands years ago. She asked if I could come down to the beach to search, and I agreed, telling her to have Liam mark off the area with chairs or blankets to keep people from sitting there.

I planned to meet them later in the evening, around dinner time, which worked fine for Kim. When I arrived, Liam met me at the dune walkover. I was initially a bit concerned since items lost while playing sports on the beach can sometimes cover an vast area. Luckily, Liam’s soccer buddies were much younger, keeping the playing area relatively small, about a 50×50 foot section. I asked Liam where he thought the most likely spot the bracelet might have come off, and he pointed to far end of the area.

I started my search on the far end, and nearly completed the whole section when I decided to widen the search by about five feet. Shortly after, I got a solid signal and sure enough, it was  Liam’s bracelet. Liam hadn’t noticed that I found the bracelet, so I walked over to him, to confirm that the location was in fact the right spot. He looked around and said without a doubt, this was right where they were. That’s when I decided to make the reveal, showing him the bracelet in my scoop. He was absolutely thrilled to see it, as this bracelet had some strong sentimental memories.

Lost Necklace Recovered in the Lagoon Just Before Checkout!

I got a call from Matt, who had just wrapped up a relaxing week at the Jersey Shore. As he and his friends were packing up to leave, disaster struck—he dove off the bulkhead earlier that morning and felt his necklace slip right off, dropping straight down into the lagoon between the jet ski dock and the bulkhead.

He found my page and reached out in hopes that I could help, even though they had to check out by noon. I told him I’d rearrange my plans and head over immediately.

When I arrived, Matt showed me exactly where it happened. I got right to work, but the bottom was a mess—old bulkhead parts, a tree stump, and storm debris made swinging my detector tough. With so much metal interference from years of boating and water activities, it was slow going. The water was deep, the sun was blazing, and I was starting to think a dive with my handheld detector might be the only way.

Just as I was about to call it quits, I caught a solid signal—one that stood out from the usual noise. It took several tricky scoops, but then… success! Matt’s beautiful necklace was sitting in my scoop.

I handed up my gear, climbed out of the murky water, and joined the celebration on the dock. Matt and his friends were beyond thrilled, and the joy on their faces made every minute of the struggle worth it. After some happy chatting, they headed off with smiles and one last great memory of their vacation on the Jersey Shore.

  A little something different. This is the nicest review I have ever received. Its from Rachel, who contacted me after her father George, lost his family heirloom necklace he had worn for 50 years. 

Long post incoming:

Yesterday we had our first beach day of vacation. As long as I’ve seen my dad, he’s worn his gold chain with two pendants, the immaculate conception and head of Christ. It’s hung around his neck for 50 years and was given to him by my grandmother.

We spent hours enjoying the beach before the annual LBI Lifeguard Races began and hundreds of people gathered over the area where we were sitting. It had to be around 6 pm when my dad realized his chain was missing from the side compartment of his beach chair. We looked and looked but there were so many people it was impossible.

I swear we all went to sleep with a gloom over us because this chain held so much importance.

The next day, I woke up early to drive back to the beach and look. No luck. After hours of time gone by, countless Facebook posts — I finally had locals recommend I call Edward Trapper, the NJ Ring Finder, known for his unwavering tenacity and success in finding lost treasures.

In less than 20 minutes, I drove down to the beach to meet Ed and his wife. Ed was eager to hear the background history of this chain, and the story it held.

For 45 minutes, he scoured the beach, meticulously covering every single inch of sand. He went above and beyond, but the chain was nowhere to be found. We decided to call it quits.

While walking up the ramp and off the beach, he turns to me and says,
“What are the odds it’s up here on the ramp somewhere? Let me try one last time. I’d hate to leave without finding it.”

Slowly, he walked down the ramp, the metal detector sweeping back and forth. Out of nowhere — ¾ the way down the ramp — the machine beeped, a clear, strong signal. He pushed in his scooper, sifting through the sand, and there it was—my father’s gold chain, buried by the side of the dune.

When I tell you we both screamed in joy… I was absolutely speechless.

Ed, I am so thankful for you and how generous you are. You truly have made this a story I will never forget. Your hard work and dedication is incredible.

Jason called me about his wedding ring, which he had lost in the sand the day before. Since it was a beautiful day and the beach was likely to be crowded, I asked if he could head up to the area and try to secure it so we’d have a clear space to work. When I arrived, Jason showed me the spot where he thought the ring was lost. After searching the area for about 15 minutes, I found no sign of the ring.

It had rained since the ring was lost, but you could still see footprints and tire marks from a beach cart. I walked with Jason around mid-beach, pointing out what I thought was the correct location. Unfortunately, they had set up their large group—about 20 chairs, carts, toys, and more—right over that spot. I asked them to move everything over to the already-searched area, and I began searching again, starting from the high tide line and working back.

Less than five minutes into the new search, I got a strong signal from my metal detector. Carefully digging into the sand with my scoop, I pulled up Jason’s ring. Everyone in his party was amazed that I found it so quickly. Another vacation saved by NJ Ring Finder!

Wedding Ring Lost in Lagoon, Loveladie’s NJ, LBI, recovered by Edward Trapper, NJ Ring Finder

Donna reached out to me about a lost ring in their lagoon. Her husband, Joe, had been working on their boat when their dog suddenly jumped into the water. Joe immediately followed, jumping in to help the dog back onto the dock. At some point during the process, either when he hit the water or while lifting the dog his wedding ring slipped off. He didn’t realize it was missing until he had gotten out and dried off.

Joe was certain the ring had to be somewhere between the back of the boat and about 20 feet along the bulkhead toward the neighbor’s dock. After searching on their own for a while, Donna, who was familiar with my page, decided to reach out to me. Since low tide was early the next morning, we arranged to meet then for the best chance of recovery.

When I arrived, Joe showed me exactly where he had entered the water and where he had lifted the dog up onto their dock. Even at low tide, the water was chest-deep, which made detecting tricky without a weight belt. Just a few feet from the bulkhead, the lagoon dropped off quickly to chin-deep water, too deep to work without diving gear. I had to be careful navigating the area, as barnacles on the bulkhead could easily cause cuts with just a slight brush against them.

As expected in a boating dock, there was a lot of debris, screws, bolts, nuts, washers, and even remnants of the old bulkhead, including cinder blocks, or some type of concrete. Each signal had to be checked carefully, as many of those objects sound similar to a ring. I worked all the way to the neighbors dock, the farthest point Joe had gone to rescue the dog, but had no luck.

Deciding to retrace my steps, I moved back along the bulkhead, where there the water much shallower. About halfway through, I got a solid low-tone signal that didn’t waver. Since the ring had only been lost the day before, I knew it would be right on top. I took one shallow scoop and there it was!

At first, Joe couldn’t see what was in my scoop. But when I held up the ring, he was completely amazed. He immediately called up to Donna, who was upstairs, and she was just as shocked. Their neighbor, who had been watching the recovery, was equally impressed.

Despite the deep water, debris, and difficult conditions, I was able to recover Joe’s ring in about 40 minutes. It was a tough search, but seeing their excitement and relief made it all worth it.

How to Find a Lost Ring in the Sand: Expert Tips from NJ Ring Finder Edward Trapper

I was at a family barbecue on a holiday weekend when I received a call from Jodi. She was at a private beach club  and had lost a cherished family heirloom ring. I thought, That cone looks like it might be near the spot. Sure enough, Jodi had placed it right where she thought the ring had fallen—something she’d forgotten to mention!

Within just a couple of minutes of scanning the area, I got a strong, promising signal. I carefully used my sand scoop, sifting through the soft white sand. And there it was—Jodi’s beautiful ring! I took a few pictures of the find since Jodi hadn’t arrived yet.

When Jodi arrived about 20 minutes later, I handed her the ring. She was amazed and overjoyed. As we talked, she shared the story behind the ring: it was custom-made piece, with three birthstones, representing her three daughters, making it irreplaceably sentimental.

Every recovery has its own unique significance, reflecting how much these items mean to their owners. This was another heartfelt recovery to add to the books.

Juan had been looking forward to his weekend at Brigantine Beach for weeks. The sun was high, the ocean breeze perfect, and the wide stretch of sand made for the ultimate soccer field. With friends visiting from out of town, he kicked off his sandals and joined a fast-paced game near the dunes, laughter and shouts blending with the rhythm of the crashing waves.

But after a slide tackle into the soft sand, Juan sat up with a sinking feeling. He reached for his chest instinctively—his gold cross was gone.

Jessica’s husband, Mike, lost his cherished wedding ring on the beach during a beautiful summer afternoon. Unsure of what to do, Jessica posted on social media, sharing the location and town where the ring was lost.
