Lost Rings in the Gulf, Orange Beach- FOUND!!!

  • from Orange Beach (Alabama, United States)

I owe Matt and Elise an apology for taking so long to post their story but I wanted to make sure that I did them in the right order because Elise’s rings ended up being the 99th and 100th official return since I started doing this. I love thinking back on all of the people I have been able to help. Matt and Elise are the perfect ones for lucky #100 because not only do they have a great story but they are wonderful people!  They have been married for 15 years and were down in Orange Beach with some friends and their family for some well deserved vacation. Elise had gone out in the Gulf with her youngest son William to throw the football when all of a sudden both of Elise’s rings came flying off with the ball. This was the first day of their vacation and it had taken an immediate turn for the worse. Elise noted where she was and came up to the beach and she and Matt immediately began looking online for someone who could help. Luckily, Matt called me and I was eager to help. I made the hour drive and brought my wife Jeannie. She has been my lucky charm and I thought it only right that she be there for the potential 100th return. When we got there Matt and Elise pointed out where they were and I quickly realized that the knee deep water was out where the sand bar drops back off into the Gulf. Nevertheless, I set a bearing on a distant condo and began my grid search. Meanwhile Jeannie talked to Matt and Elise and tried to calm their fears. She learned that they had a true love story. Matt is a farmer and back years ago he saved his money and went and bought these rings for Elise and got down on one knee. Now it had been so long that Matt didn’t even remember what the rings were made out of. I think that is a perfect example of the kind of irreplaceable things I get to find. It doesn’t matter what they are made out of or the monetary value. It’s the memories and the sentiment that make them absolutely invaluable. Meanwhile, back in the Gulf, I had my machine turned wide open so I could hear everything and I was on a mission. An hour later though, I only had one dime to show for it and everyone was getting worried. A man waded out to talk to me and explained that he was going to try and find it with his feet. I tried to be nice and explain that he was kind of hurting the situation and not helping but he was not to be deterred so I went around him. After expanding the area a bit I had Elise go over again where she thought it might be. I told her that there was no way it had rolled up the bar but if she had flung it far enough it might be a little shallower. The man had finally left after a fruitless search so I started there and proceeded to work shallower. Finally, out of nowhere, I hear the screaming sound of gold in my ears. In a millisecond, I knew that not only were these the rings, but they were together, right on top and they were almost certainly gold. I very gently scooped down deep to make sure I didn’t scratch one and pulled out both rings in one scoop, together like they were meant to be. Y’all, I can’t even explain the excitement and the disbelief and happiness that proceeded to radiate from that beach when I walked out. I hope the next 100 are every bit as meaningful!  By the way, the rings are 18k and diamonds, just as awesome as the people they belong to. Congratulations Matt and Elise and thank you for trusting me with your memories.

Lost Gold Man’s Wedding Ring in Pataskala, OH. “FOUND”

I received an email in January 2023 about a lost gold man’s wedding ring that was lost on his property in November 2021. He was simply playing with his dog and bouncing a tennis ball off the driveway and the next moment the ring flew off into the weeds. He search and search with no luck. Since living in Ohio and having cold weather in January, we opted to wait until warmer weather to perform a good thorough search. I started the search on one side of the driveway, searching through the leaves, sticks, ivy vine, and small plants with no luck with all awhile getting many hits of normal household yard trash. I continued to the other side of the driveway searching and searching. Then got a hit, I pulled back the leaves, ivy vines and there was the ring. He was very happy to have the ring returned to him after 22 months of being gone.

Laura found The Ring Finders online and called me for assistance.  Her husband Paul had given her his wedding ring to hold when he went for a swim (a wise decision), but unfortunately the ring somehow slipped into the dry sand in the area where they were enjoying the beach.  They tried searching for the ring by hand but turned up nothing.  That’s not surprising since a ring can quickly and easily disappear when it hits the sand.  I told Laura that it should not be a problem to locate the ring with a detector and that I’d be there within a half hour.  When I arrived, Laura flagged me down and told me that they’d just found the ring!  Paul had scored an unusual success with continued hand sifting.  I think that Paul should be an honorary Ring Finder — and he doesn’t even need a detector!  Though it turned out that my services were not needed, we had a nice conversation and I was very happy to see that the ring was found and back on Paul’s finger where it belonged.  Laura and Paul, congratulations on a successful ‘return’ and I hope you enjoy the rest of the summer!

Fallon contacted me after researching online for metal detecting services. She had lost a cross that was very special to her, and was hoping I would be able to help her find it. I let her know that I was available to go, and we set out to meet at the beach shortly after we hung up.

When I got there Fallon took me out to the area she believed the loss occurred, and I began my search. It really did not take very long because she had remembered where she had been. I found the cross for her, which brightened her spirits. What a great smile!

Kartik had lost his ring at the beach, and needed help. He called and we made arrangements to meet there to conduct the search.

When I got there Kartik had the general idea of the area the ring was lost in, and described the conditions of how it was lost. I began my search which did not take long, and was able to reunite him with what he felt he had lost forever. A great day.

Bay Area Ring Finders: Brendon Chapman… Metal Detecting Service/Call ASAP     925-580-2590

On Sunday August 27th, I had the pleasure to assist Fred with his lost Platinum Ring.  Due to the nature of the call and the information he provided, this would be as quick and simple as you like.  He was removing some plants from his front garden when the ring went amiss.  There were only three small locations the ring could possibly be when I arrived.  Within 5 minutes of being onsite Fred had his Platinum ring back. A VDI of 11-12 and good tone meant “WE MADE THE RECOVERY!!!”

He and I had a pleasant chat about metal detectors, metal detecting, and permits for certain parks in the Bay Area.  He had thought about renting a metal detector prior to finding our THERINGFINDERS.COM site.  Additionally, he called a neighbor who had recently lost a hearing aid in their backyard a few blocks away.  Fred was already shopping my services and spreading the word.

Thank you Fred, I’m happy everything worked out as it did, and it was nice to have met your acquaintance.

Lost and found gold diamond wedding band in Cobourg Ontario

Received a text from Amir yesterday about his wife having lost her diamond wedding band while at the beach in Cobourg Ontario. She had taken her ring off to apply sun tan lotion and placed it on their beach blanket. Seeing friends down the beach, they quickly picked up their belongings and relocated. A short while later, she realized that her ring was gone. They all tried to find the ring in the sand but were not successful. Normally, this would be a quick and fairly easy recovery. However, Amir did not find my information/services until a week had gone by since she’d lost her ring. My biggest fear was that there are a lot of metal detectorists that searches this beach every single day and the ring might of been picked up. Still, we had to try. After exchanging information and details via Google Earth, I headed out last evening to find it. Although the beach was still fairly busy with people and after careful gridding for two and a half hour, I was able to locate her ring. Thank god it was still there. Amir has requested not to have their picture posted due to privacy.  Beautiful evening, did not have to get wet Scuba diving and another happy ending. Life is good.

Lost Ring Recovered Scuba Diving Minnesota Gold Wedding

  • from Twin Cities Metro (Minnesota, United States)

Lebo and Brian went to their family cabin on a lake up north Minnesota for some rest and relaxation. Just an extra bit of info – They are also proud parents to a newborn baby, congrats!! :O)

In August the weather can get quite hot, I believe it was high 90’s the week they went up. Lebo decided to cool off and go for a swim off their dock. Before jumping in, she took off her wedding ring and put it in her towel for safe keeping. After her swim she got back on the dock, picked up her towel and started to dry off, just realizing her ring fell between the slats of wood into the lake. Don’t feel too bad Lebo as this happens more than you can imagine. Brian searched the web and found “theringfinders.com” and called me. We set up a day & time and I met them as soon as I possibly could. We performed a test with a junk ring I brought up to see how far the ring would go while picking up the towel. It dropped just a couple feet and rolled into the water. I put on my scuba gear and hopped in – It only took a couple minutes, and I recovered both rings right next to each other.

It was really nice meeting both of you! Tell Lebo’s Dad I said it was nice to meet him also….Congrats on getting your wedding ring back, truly glad I could help out.

Take Care –

Darrin

Lost ring in the water, Daytona Beach, Florida…found by Florida ring finder!

  • from Sanford (Florida, United States)
Contact:

Rachel, from Alabama, was vacationing in Daytona Beach and one afternoon her and her family were in waist deep Atlantic ocean water hitting a volleyball back and forth and she felt her ring come off of her finger and watched as it disappeared in the waves. She was devastated and tried frantically to find it and after awhile someone spotted a man metal detecting along the beach. They approached the man, Wayne was his name, and asked if he could help them find Rachel’s lost silver and turquoise ring. Wayne tried his best but for some reason he could not locate it. Thoughtfully he asked Rachel for her contact number just in case he happened to find it at a later date and that gave Rachel some hope…but not much for she thought surely she would never see her ring again.

Ten days later I decided to hit the beach and do some metal detecting in the water and I often go to Daytona Beach and randomly pick a beach to hunt and on this day I chose the waters in front of the Hilton and the Club Wyndam Ocean Walk area. I usually like to detect in the water and on that particular day I found a couple of rings, coins and a few junk ear rings. During the day I spotted two other guys metal detecting and struck up a conversation with them and as is the custom we always ask one another…”Have you found anything good today?” So I pulled out my finds and when Wayne saw the silver and turquoise ring he said, “Hey, I think I know the lady who lost that ring!” And sure enough later that evening Wayne sent me the young lady’s phone number and she confirmed it was indeed her lost ring! How cool is that! So a few days later I boxed up Rachel’s ring and put it in the mail! She was thrilled to have her ring back and her beautiful smile says it all!
