Garage Sale at the Golf Course

  • from Cochrane (Alberta, Canada)

Dave called me. His golf bag obeyed the law of gravity and headed downhill for the nearest pond. When he was able to fish it out, there were many items missing. Several of which would make his life miserable for a while if not found.

*WARNING* Do not watch the video without tissues!

Mike sent me a message after finding my website by doing a Google search on lost jewelry in Ocean City. He said that his dad, also Mike has worn a St Christopher medal that his dad gave him before he passed away several years ago. While in the crawl space to turn the water on a few springs ago, he was still wearing the chain but the pendant was gone. They recently sold the house, and it will be torn down soon.

We agreed to meet at 9 am on Sunday, Labor Day weekend. Today is moving day. When I arrived The men were moving furniture into a moving truck. One of them asked if I was Dave, it was Mike. Mike’s dad was there and wanted to know who I was. Mike explained that he asked me to come over to search the crawl space for your dad’s pendant. Mike’s dad became emotional, because of his son’s thoughtfulness.

Mike took me to the crawl space entrance. It was in the closest of a bedroom, removed the floor, and there it was. I lowered myself down with my detector. There were 2 lights but it was pretty dark. From ground to ceiling was about 2.5 feet. Crawl space described this hunt perfectly.

Mike’s dad said if he lost it under the house it would be the spot the furthest from for entranceway, as there is a half wall there and he was stretched across it most likely catching his chain there. I started working my way to that spot. My detector was constantly beeping. Pieces of copper pipes, buried cans, pieces of wire, buried iron pieces, nails, and old footings. I decided to use my handheld pinpointer to limit deeper targets.

I went over just about every inch of the sandy floor. I said to Mike that I’m getting a bad feeling, just as we were getting back to the entrance. I said maybe it’s at the opening and it fell off of the chain when his dad stood up. A few minutes later I found it! Buried about ½ an inch to an inch deep. Right at the bottom of the entrance. Mike was amazed that we found it. I asked him what he wanted to do. He wanted to surprise his dad. So I exited the hole first. I was asked if I found it and I said I really don’t think it’s down there. Mike was up next. When Mike came up we moved to the porch. I ask Mike senior if I could videotape him as he told me the story of the sentimental pendant, as I like to document my searches.

As Mike senior was telling me about the loss, he was ending the story saying we haven’t been able to find it. I said are you sure? And the younger Mike put the pendant in his dad’s hand.

The kicker – It is Mike’s senior’s birthday today!

Lost Ring in Virginia Beach Found

  • from Virginia Beach (Virginia, United States)

Targets on the beach were far and few between but I got a good signal at the water line. As i was digging I noticed a guy in a chair behind me watching. When I brought the ring up he yelled “That’s my ring”. Of course we have all heard that story but he said he lost it yesterday and actually showed me a picture of it on his hand. His wife showed up and I showed it to her before he talked to her and she yelled that looks like your ring! Long story short he got his ring back. Gigmaster on Youtube

Ocean City Md Lost and Found

  • from Virginia Beach (Virginia, United States)

I found this on the beach buried about 6 inches down. I did not know what it was at the time but after I got home I discovered it was a $7,000 Medtronic Insulin pump! I called the company and for medical reasons they could not give me the owners name but asked if they could give the owner mine. I said sure since my goal was to return it to the owner. I got a call from the owner and was able to mail it to them. Another successful return. Gigmaster on Youtube

Grandfather’s lost ring found

  • from Virginia Beach (Virginia, United States)

This was one of my toughest recoveries. I was approached on the beach about a lost ring. It was lost in deeper water and the tide was rising with big waves. I knew the only chance was to take a beating in the waves before it was lost forever. After loosing my hat, headphones a few times and a few other items the ring was recovered and given to a very happy man. Gis deceased grandfather may have had a hand in guiding me to this recovery. Lost white gold wedding band at North Beach Provincial Park Ontario

I got to meet Jose, Patricia and their whole family at North Beach Provincial Park today. While playing volley ball in the water, at about knee deep, Jose noticed his ring was no longer on his finger. The good part was that he was commenting to his friend about both of them wearing their wedding band in the water, shortly before he lost it and indeed, both men had their rings at that point. So, he knew for sure he had lost the ring in the water. After getting orientated, I turned on my Excalibur II and started gridding the area. Had the ring found within 10 minutes. Headed back to shore, grabbed the phone and recorded their reactions. I was so happy to be able to reunite them with their white gold wedding band while the whole family cheered them on. Another story that ends well!!!

Lost sentimental pendants and chain in the sand at Wasaga Beach #2. Wasaga Beach, Ontario

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

Tamara was out with the family for a day at Wasaga Beach 2. She put her sentimental chain with two pendants in the cupholder of her chair.

At the end of the day they all packed up and headed home.

Tamara totally forgot her about her jewellery and went into panic mode. They tried looking for it with no luck.

Tamara used Google and The Ring Finders directory came up and proceeded to call me.

We met early this morning. Walked to the beach and set up. Within 20 seconds of my first swing and scoop I spotted the chain!

I asked Tamara to come over as she didn’t clue in when I gave the double thumbs up. She thought I was checking to see if the video was recording…

I asked her to go ahead and take the chain out and the two pendants were still attached.

Tamara was overcome with happy tears because the two pendants mean a great deal to her!!

Thank you Tamara for your donation to the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation! Tamara received a receipt!

Engagement ring lost off dock into Balsam Lake, Kawartha Lakes Region, Kirkfield,Ontario

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

Aaron and his fiancé Mallory were with a group of Friends celebrating at a cottage on Balsam Lake in the Kawartha Lakes Region near Kirkfield, Ontario.

Mallory’s beautiful gold and diamond elegant engagement ring slipped off her ring finger just 5’ to 10’ in front of the dock area.

They searched for 2-3 hours with no luck.

Google searched and found me. Called and I was immediately on my way!

I arrived to see the skies quickly turning dark and the winds picking up so I knew I best get it on.

Rushed to see the dock area, brought the gear down, jumped in, weeded through a couple of beer can pull tabs and the next target in the area they stated was Mallory’s stunning engagement ring!!

Happy screams of joy by all!! …even me!

What an awesome group of Friends Aaron & Mallory have!

Thanks for feeding me some dinner as I passed on my dinner to get to the location sooner than later!

Check out the video for this ring recovery;

Aaron sent in an incredibly generous donation to the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation and he received a tax receipt!

Backpack goes to the bottom of river after kayak flips Sauble Falls, South Bruce Peninsula, Wiarton, Ontario

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

Received a call from Alan as his parents were kayaking on the Sauble River just south of Sauble Falls in the South Bruce Peninsula area of Wiarton, Ontario.

Alan had called Bruce at Groundhog Divers in Kitchener to see if a diver was available to assist. Bruce kindly referred them to call me and we made arrangements to meet early Saturday morning.

They were new to kayaking and accidentally flipped over the kayak. Unfortunately a backpack which had many valuable items such as wallet, identification/cards, 2 cells phones, sunglasses and keys had fallen to the bottom in roughly 9’ to 12’ of water.

I brought both scuba gear and my DIVE BLU3 NEMO as the depth wasn’t confirm. I proceeded out to the location with the NEMO as with a 10’ hose hookah system the ease of use as well as only 12’ makes for a simple solution in recovering lost items quickly.

I could not locate the backpack at the location of kayak flip and proceeded down stream a bit as there was a slight current. Approximately 30’ away I found Zhihong’s sunglasses and in another 25’ more found the navy blue pack pack. The small front pouch was open. Underneath was some coins and a small set of keys.

I went to the surface withholding the backpack up with a round of cheers and applause. Proceeded back to the dock. They went threw the backpack and advised the think another set of car keys was still missing.

I went and re-gridded the area for another hour and a bit with no luck!

The Family was so happy and grateful to get their belongings back. Hopefully my adviser to lit the cell phones and car key FOB in rice for 1-2 days helped.

here’s the video of the backpack recovery;

Luckily, they found the other set of keys in the vehicle after opening it up with the found set in backpack!

Saved them more than a few hundred dollars and time in replacing all these items!

Also would like to say a special thank you to a cottage owner Dennis for allowing us on his property as well Glenn B for tagging along as a spotter!

I’m grateful to the couple for the generous donation made to the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation as that is what I ask as a REWARD. To pay-it-forward to the charity I snowmobile for going into my 13th year of 23 years! They received a tax receipt!!

Lost Ring Cobourg Ontario…Found!

Received a text early this morning from Keelin. She and her friends went to a local beach in Cobourg Ontario for a late evening swim and camp fire by the shore of Lake Ontario. Fortunately for her, and the recovery of her ring, all the stars lined up as she specifically recalled feeling the ring slip off her finger and at what depth she was while in the water. Met up with Keelin and her dad first thing this morning, and ten minutes later found her ring within 20 feet from where she thought it was lost. Keelin’s fiancé currently lives in the UK and they haven’t seen each other since last January due to COVID. They are scheduled to get married this October, in the UK, and is extremely happy that she will be able to wear her lost and found engagement ring. Watch the video. Another happy ending!
