Lost your ring, other valuable jewelry, cellphone, keys, or other metal object…call or text Brian Carpenter at (814)244-2300 as soon as possible. I am a ring recovery/metal detecting specialist serving Pittsburgh, Indiana (PA), and most of Western PA. Why rent a metal detector when you can get a trained operator with top of the line equipment at the same time…

After one of the massive snowstorms that covered the country recently and hit Pittsburgh pretty hard I was contacted by Donquia who had lost his keys in front of his house. Donquia said he slipped on the front steps and his keys went into the snow. We made arrangements for me to come out the next morning.

I arrived in the area to find only a small path on the street in front of Donquia’s house to be plowed and the rest of the area was nothng but piles of snow and plowed in cars. With nowhere to park I left my truck sitting in the middle of the street, got briefed by Donquia and got started. He was pretty sure he went one way and the keys went another. I started to sweep over the snow with a few hits but no keys. I then had to drive around the block as someone needed to get by on the roadway. When I came back I parked in the street again and started on the opposite side of the steps. After a few minutes a nice sound came through my headset. I started to dig with my snowshovel and jackpot, I found Donquia’s keys!

I was happy to find Donquia’s keys relatively quickly so he could get to work a bit later. As always, it was a pleasure to meet another kind and generous client and recover his lost item.

Lost and found Key fob in Trenton Ontario

Received a text from Dylan about him having lost his key fob, and other important keys, while shovelling a driveway couple days ago (he is looking after his friend’s property while they are away on vacation). After shovelling about four feet wide along the driveway, he noticed that the key fob was missing from his jacket. After looking extensively for it with no luck, Dylan’s brother showed up with spare key fob so he could at least drive back home. He went back the next day to look for it again, with no luck, and finish shovelling the rest of the driveway. I met up with him today and after listening to what had happened, he was sure the keys would be on the left end side of the driveway, in the snow bank. Long story short, keys ended up being found in the snow bank on the right side of the driveway. Another happy ending, considering how expensive it is to replace key fobs and multiple other keys. Life is good!

Frosty Dog Fred….

Loves the snow, so just the other night Derek let him out in the yard to do dog stuff. Well, more time passed as usual, so Derek looked out and didn’t see Fred. Derek went out and found Fred hiding out in about a foot of snow. Reaching for him thinking something was wrong Fred bolted off and started to zigzag thru more snow. By time Derek got him back inside he noticed his ring missing. With my MXT metal detector I started a simple grid search thru the deep snow and got a great signal. Pinpointing down thru the snow revealed Derek’s ring partially frozen to the top of the grass. Carefully removing it I placed it in Derek’s hand to thaw. Excited to have his ring back he decided next time to handle things differently with frosty dog Fred….should he decide to play opossum again!

Harry contacted me about a ring lost in Watchaug Pond.  Here’s what he wrote about the experience: “I lost my wedding ring that I had worn for 20 years in late summer of 2024.  I was playing ball while swimming with my son in Watchaug Pond, and the ball jammed my finger.  I shook my hand and watched as the ring flew off into chest-deep water.  I looked for it but didn’t find it.  Figured I would never see it again.  Fast forward more than a year and my neighbor saw a story about Gary finding a ring for someone in Ninigret Park.  I reached out and through their dedication and kindness, Gary and Wayne, both members of The Ring Finders, met me at the pond.  After about 40 minutes of searching, they located my ring at the bottom of the pond and I go it back.”  We are thankful that we were able to help Harry recover his wedding ring.

I received a call about a lost ring from a mother who explained that her daughter, Chris, had lost a small ring on the beach.  Chris had the ring since she was a child and still wore it on her small finger. The mother told me that it was lost on the beach right next to Misquamicut Beach. I searched that beach in the area where she said the ring was lost but couldn’t find it.  When I contacted them to give an update on my search, Chris clarified the location, which was actually on Misquamicut Beach.  Unfortunately, I had been searching the wrong beach.  Four days later, I went back to the correct location and found the ring in two hours. I mailed the ring back to them in Connecticut because they don’t live close by.  Chris was happy to have her special ring back!

I was out detecting the beach when Omar came up to me and asked for my help.  He lost his wedding ring when it flew off of his finger and landed somewhere in the sand near his blanket.  He tried digging around to find it but didn’t have any luck.  I agreed to help him.  After searching for his ring for two minutes, I located it in the sand. Omar was so happy to have his ring back.

Wedding Ring found in Ninigret Pond, Charlestown, RI

Dan contacted me to ask for my help in finding his lost wedding ring.  This is Dan’s story of what happened…” When setting my boat anchor, my wedding ring got caught on the chain and went flying into Ninigret Pond over two weeks ago. My own attempts to find the ring were wildly unsuccessful and I had pretty much accepted the fact that my 15-year-old wedding ring was lost to the depths of Davey Jones locker. My last-ditch effort was to search google for a local detectorist, and after a two-minute inquiry, I found Gary Bonin of The Ring Finders right in Charlestown………..We set off on a boat trip to find my ring! After arriving at the location and showing Gary the general area where I thought the ring would be, he located it in under 20 minutes! The ring was almost unrecognizable after two weeks in salt water which turned my white gold ring into yellow gold! Even more ironic, when I identified the ring from the engraving with the date of our wedding, Gary remarked ‘oh, that’s my birthday’.  After using polishing compound once I got home, the ring is back to its old “white gold ” self. I cannot recommend Gary and The Ring Finders enough. Before you give up hope your ring or other valuables are lost to the beach or ocean, call Gary!”

Wedding Ring found at Narragansett Town Beach, RI

I received a call from Eric who lost his ring in the sand while he was sitting on a blanket on the beach. He told me that the ring had special meaning because he bought it while on vacation in Greece, and it couldn’t be replaced.  I explained that I had hurt my back, and it was difficult for me to metal detect.  However, after hearing how much it meant to him, I decided to give it a try.  When I told my wife, Jeanne, she knew I would not be able to metal detect due to my injury and suggested that I bring my daughter, Emily, in case I needed help with the search.  By the time I walked from the car to the beach, I was in too much pain to walk any further and had to sit down.  Luckily, we had brought a beach chair in case I needed it.  I told my daughter that she was going to have to search for the ring.  Emily went with Eric to where he had been sitting on the beach and found the lost ring in the sand in five minutes.  I was happy that I followed my wife’s suggestion and brought my daughter along.  Thank you, Emily, for coming through for me.  Eric was thrilled to have his ring back!

Lost Gold Ring in the Snow Found in Wyandotte Michigan

As the Midnite Ice…

lay hiding beneath the snowdrifts, Jenny and her friend Lance had no idea about what was going to happen as they ran thru the park after enjoying some refreshments at a local business. As each of them formed snowballs, Jenny threw first and while doing so slipped on that hidden ice and fell into a snowdrift. As Lance pulled her up, by time they got to the car, she noticed her ring missing. The ring is a family heirloom from her grandmother. Being past midnite, they called me when it was daylight and we agreed to meet. I fired up my icebreaker MXT metal detector and started a grid search from where Jenny started to run and where she fell down. It wasn’t long before the MXT signaled on a non-ferrous metal item thru the snow. Brushing the snow away with my pin pointer metal detector and a few inches into the snowdrift revealed Jenny’s ring! Handing the ring to Jenny produced smiles on both their faces that would have melted that ice had they stayed longer, but they didn’t! Now Jenny’s glad she’s not on slippery ground anymore…or on thin ice with her grandmother!

Car key fob lost and found Belleville Ontario

Received a message from Brianna about her husband having lost a whole bunch of keys, including their car key fob, while clearing a drive way with a snowblower. His key chain broke while clearing snow the night before. Met up with her and she confirmed she was missing a car key fob and an appartement key fob as well. After looking at where the snow had been thrown in the yard by snowblower, I started detecting/gridding the area and soon found a couple set of keys that she wasn’t even aware went missing. Eventually, 2 key fobs and 2 set of keys were recovered. Disaster averted and another happy ending. Life is good!
