Silver Ring Flies Off Finger and Becomes Lost in Sand – FOUND

  • from Emerald Isle (North Carolina, United States)

EMERALD ISLE BEACH, NC

Evan called Crystal Coast Ring Finders to locate a lost silver ring.  His family were out the tossing a small football when, during a throw,  Elise felt her sentimental ring fly from her finger.

Moments after arrival to the location, we discussed the general boundaries where they felt the ring would be retrieved for Elise.   I started my grid search and a strong 92 signal on my XP Deus II metal detector.   This was the type of signal I was expecting and after gently placing my hand deep in the sand I was able to scoop up a handful of sand with Elise’s lost ring.  The group was very surprised how quickly I found the missing ring.

Gold Wedding Band Lost, Recovered and Returned in Newark, DE!!!

  • from Philadelphia (Pennsylvania, United States)

Zac contacted me via text message Wed night after finding me in the Ring Finders Directory. That evening he was on the street in his front of his house in Newark, DE…he picked up a stick and went to throw it and he saw and felt his gold wedding band fly off his finger…he heard one distinct “ting” where it hit street somewhere but he never saw the direction it went. He searched for hours with his eyes and rakes/brooms before reaching out to me. I told him I would be there first thing the following morning. I originally thought this would be a quick job…the ring bounced once on street and then into the grass across the street but nope…it wasn’t in the grass across the street. This is where ring finding and metal detecting experience counts! I told Zac to go grab a metal washer…we’re going to re-enact the crime…I had Zac stand where he was with washer in his left hand (he was left handed) and pretend to throw stick again and let washer fly…guess what? it didn’t fly across the street it actually flew toward his home on the opposite side. There wasn’t any grass on that side…just some mulched beds with some shrubbery. I proceeded to scan under the first shrub I came to and immediately heard the signal I was looking for…a gold ring on the surface has a very unique signature on metal detector! I bent down and lifted the low branches of the shrub…and there was his beautiful gold ring!!! With Zac 10 feet away ..I held the ring up with a triumphant look….OMG the look of relief on his face was priceless! Its so fun and rewarding to be able to come through for people…I was so happy to get the ring back on Zac’s finger!!!

New Haven CT Channel 8 news meeting CT’s own Treasure Hunter August 2025

  • from Old Saybrook (Connecticut, United States)

I was asked to be interviewed by Ann Nyberg a celebrated and award-winning anchorperson for Channel 8 news in CT. We discussed my start in detecting 37 years ago, my membership in three CT clubs Nutmeg Treasure Hunters, Yankee Territory Coin shooters, and Southern New England Relic Hunters and most recently my membership in the @theringfinders,com organization. Ann asked my favorite find over the years and there’s been so many that it was hard to choose just one. But I chose a very meaningful one for me that was about a young boy losing his heirloom Grandfathers ring in the ocean and giving up hope until his mother contacted me and after three tries of narrowing the location where he had been playing catch in the ocean and using his hand drawn treasure map , I was able to locate the ring. His mother cooked a meal for our club, and we awarded the ring back that night and she honored me with a beautiful St Anthony medal.

Branford Point Beach CT Platinum diamond ring returned from the ocean August 2025

  • from Old Saybrook (Connecticut, United States)

Vanessa and Jacob had been visiting a neighborhood beach and while playing pass with a football she noticed her platinum diamond ring had slipped off her finger. They started searching in the water to no avail. They went out and bought a metal detector and came back in the evening to look for it. After finding just a hair clip they did a search for ring finders. My name came up and they gave me a quick call to inquire about my services.

During the conversation she mentioned that her husband had been a former student. That’s a small world!

I came right away at 9:00 am since they had tickets to a basketball game and needed to leave the area by noon.

They had placed a rock at the suggestion of a kind lady on the beach as a marker to where they had noticed the ring was missing. The entire area was about a thirty-yard stretch of beach and knee to waist deep water. I gridded the area very thoroughly and could not get a solid target. They needed to leave and were still hopeful because I told them that I was committed to finding this ring and for them to pray. They very concerned that it might now be lost.

Since I know in excitement of the moment judging distances can be difficult and rings are seldom found where you expect them to turn up.  I widened the search area and since the tide had gone pretty far out started detecting the wet sand. A solid platinum level signal echoed in my headphones, and I exclaimed to everyone in ear shot that I had found the ring we had been looking for during the last 3 hours.

After a quick call to catch them before they left for the game they excitedly came back to the beach and were absolutely astonished that the ring was only a few feet from the placement of the lucky rock. They decided they also wanted to keep the rock as a memory of the day. The special lady on the beach saved the rock to give to them. we plan to get together again to reenact the moment and share the excitement of the recovery for their family and friends.

Misquamicut CT Platinum and gold heirloom wedding ring out of the surf July 2025

  • from Old Saybrook (Connecticut, United States)

John started the day having fun at Misquamicut and body surfing in the large waves that are pretty typical of this location. He suddenly felt the gold and platinum wedding ring slip off his finger and into the surf as he was washed forward with the wave. At that point he considered it to be a hopeless and lost cause. But some friends encouraged by my recent finds that had been posted on Facebook contacted me with the details of where he was in the surf at the time and gave me a pretty good place to start.

After a short gridding pattern and an adjustment for the tide and reported location that his friend had shared with me, the next solid signal resulted in his gold ring in the scoop. I went over to everyone on the beach to tell them the good news.

I then facetimed his wife who could not believe it and, in her amazement, expressed the joy that her prayers were answered. I teased John by sending him a picture of the ring and astounded he asked how his ring was now out of the surf and in my hands. He admitted he had given up all hope. I could feel the joy over the phone and his renewed faith in the prayers that his wife and others had shared.

A miracle in the surf praise prayer and glory to God to grant their wishes. When I met him at Dunkin donuts to give back his ring, he treated me to breakfast and honored me with a wonderful rosary from Assisi and a beautiful ceramic Saint Anthony medal. I also gave him two Saint Anthony medals for his wife and for their friend that had given me some really good directions and a lead as to where to start in the surf.

Lost Gold Ring Recovered at Zephyr Cove, Lake Tahoe

  • from Carson City (Nevada, United States)

July 17, 2025: Always scanning the internet for listings of lost valuables, that I can help recover in the Lake Tahoe area, I came upon an hours old facebook post about a lost ring in the water at Zephyr Cove. Messaging the person who posted the lost ring, I explained I had the equipment to make a competent search. Unable to search the very next day, I was concerned the ring would be found by a treasure hunter.

Early on the morning of July 19th, before the busy Saturday crowds arrived, I began searching in 3 to 4 feet of water. The person who posted on facebook had given specific details and landmarks of the lost ring search area. Using my blu3 Nemo and XP Deus2 metal detector, I began a search grid. 45 minutes into the search, I got a solid target signal that sounded better than the previous 9. With great anticipation, I dig my scoop into the target location. Sifting the sand through the scoop holes revealed a men’s gold wedding ring.

I quickly got back to the parking lot and texted the ring photos to the person who posted the lost ring. She confirmed that it was indeed her father’s lost wedding ring. Another successful recovery and ring returned back to its home.

Client’s Testimonial:  On July 16,2025: 35 years ago I wanted to go to Lake Tahoe for my honeymoon. I had seen pictures and thought it was the most beautiful place I had ever seen. Well back then we couldn’t afford to make the trip from Indiana, but this year we finally made it. On July 16th we went to Zephyr Cove beach and my husband, Tony, was tossing a football in the water with my son and grandson. All of a sudden he said my wedding ring is gone! We couldn’t believe it. My daughter looked and looked, despite the freezing cold water, and others nearby looked as well. Finally we had to face the fact it was gone. My husband was devastated, stating he wanted to be buried in that ring. It’s still the original that I gave him 35 years ago on our wedding day. I made my peace with it by stating it was a fitting end that I wanted to go to Tahoe my whole married life and when we finally did, his ring ended up lost to the lake. He didn’t like that thought and it gave him no peace at all. Finally my daughter said let’s look for a local page on fb and post it and maybe someone will find it one day and return it. I told her I’m sure it would be many years but maybe someday, after we were gone, someone would find it and return it to our kids or grandkids. Well Trevor Oxborrow from Ring Finders commented on my daughter’s post and asked us to identify where we were and meet him there. We had already left Tahoe and were due to fly home the next morning, see she told him exactly where we had been and sent a picture of the location. Trevor stated he’d go to the lake within a day or two and see if he could find the ring. Well imagine our surprise when a very short time later my daughter received a message to contact him. He sent her a picture of her dad’s ring! We were elated! Trevor mailed the ring back to us and it is back where it belongs comfortably on my husband’s hand. He said he felt naked without it and is so very happy and grateful to anyone that had anything to do with us getting it back. Thank you Trevor and all of the kind people in Tahoe and elsewhere who have sent kind comments or helped us that day for our ring. Without Trevor, Tahoe would forever hold my husband’s ring, and as lovely as Tahoe is, it belongs with him.

Sleeping Bear Dunes, Michigan on Platte River, Cellphone recovery

  • from Manistee (Michigan, United States)
Contact:

Jeff T, has been camping at Lake Township Campgrounds for over 16 years with a group of relatives and friends. This area is a mecca for canoes, tubes and kayaks and is one of the most beautiful National Parks with the Platte river leading into Lake Michigan and surrounded by mountain’s of sand dunes. The group was floating down the river when Jeff lost his balance and dropped his Android cell phone in about 4 feet of water. Several members of the group jumped in the water to help find the phone to no avail.

After hearing about the Ringfinders, Jeff called me and 2 hours later Jeff and I were walking .2 miles along the riverbank. We reached the spot and I did a grid search of 10 feet by 10 feet in water about 4 to 5 feet deep. The river was slowly meandering with a slow current. We were almost ready to give up when I got an overload on my detector and dug up a scoop of sand, silt and gravel and a corner of the cell appeared. Jeff took out the cell and said this is it. After some hugs and thank yous we headed back to our cars.

We went back to the canoe livery and had a bite to eat. While eating we discovered we both had a similar family tragedy that made this hunt more memorable.

By the way, Jeff will let me know if the cell data was able to be recovered.

Wedding Ring Found In Gun Lake, Shelbyville, MI

  • from Holland (Michigan, United States)

Larabel got the call and told them to call me. Jake and Kelsey have been married for one year and 5 days and she lost her ring today. They were having a big party at this private residence and a volley ball game was in progress in knee deep water next to the dock. Kelsey was close to the net on the left side and hit the ball with her left hand and the ring went flying with the ball. After about 30 minutes I found her ring across the net and almost out of bounds on the far right corner-this lady has a mean arm. I had a crowd of about 25 people watching and I dug a few pieces of junk to keep them on their toes. When I found the ring I gave them the signal and the cheers went up. The party is back on in full swing!!
