Rachel and her husband Addison contacted me Friday evening about a ring lost while swimming in a Virginia lake. They were on vacation and due to check out and drive home the next day. I was able to meet with them early Saturday morning, and found that this was not just any ring, but an irreplaceable family heirloom from a deceased loved one. Fortunately Addison knew when the ring fell off, so he had a pretty good idea of the area to search. I got in the water a little over waist deep, and he was able to guide me from the shore to the best place to start. Along the first line I walked there were a few targets, but nothing that sounded right, so I didn’t bother digging them. I turned around and started the next line, and within a few minutes got a promising sounding target. Pulled up the sand scoop, gave it a shake to clear away the sand, and there was that beautiful gold ring shining in the sun. Rachel and Addison are a great young newlywed couple, and I was so very glad to meet them and play a part with this ring recovery. Such a relief for all of us.

Lost wallet found in Afton, VA

Kevin was mowing along a very long fence line at his farm when he noticed his wallet was missing. The wallet contained an Apple titanium card, so he decided to try his luck with a metal detector. When asking Grok AI for advice on the best settings it mentioned that he might a lso try contacting The Ring Finders. He contacted me Wednesday evening, and I was able to get there the following morning. It was great to meet Kevin and his dog, and the 3 of us walked the entire fence line talking and detecting the entire way. No luck, so we decided to walk back searching areas we might have missed. About half way back the dog, who is a little guy, was getting a bit worn out so Kevin decided to carry him the rest of the way. Right where he bent over to pick up the dog, Kevin looked down and saw the wallet right between us sitting on the grass. What a relief! Not a detector find, but I was so happy that he got his wallet back.

  A little something different. This is the nicest review I have ever received. Its from Rachel, who contacted me after her father George, lost his family heirloom necklace he had worn for 50 years. 

Long post incoming:

Yesterday we had our first beach day of vacation. As long as I’ve seen my dad, he’s worn his gold chain with two pendants, the immaculate conception and head of Christ. It’s hung around his neck for 50 years and was given to him by my grandmother.

We spent hours enjoying the beach before the annual LBI Lifeguard Races began and hundreds of people gathered over the area where we were sitting. It had to be around 6 pm when my dad realized his chain was missing from the side compartment of his beach chair. We looked and looked but there were so many people it was impossible.

I swear we all went to sleep with a gloom over us because this chain held so much importance.

The next day, I woke up early to drive back to the beach and look. No luck. After hours of time gone by, countless Facebook posts — I finally had locals recommend I call Edward Trapper, the NJ Ring Finder, known for his unwavering tenacity and success in finding lost treasures.

In less than 20 minutes, I drove down to the beach to meet Ed and his wife. Ed was eager to hear the background history of this chain, and the story it held.

For 45 minutes, he scoured the beach, meticulously covering every single inch of sand. He went above and beyond, but the chain was nowhere to be found. We decided to call it quits.

While walking up the ramp and off the beach, he turns to me and says,
“What are the odds it’s up here on the ramp somewhere? Let me try one last time. I’d hate to leave without finding it.”

Slowly, he walked down the ramp, the metal detector sweeping back and forth. Out of nowhere — ¾ the way down the ramp — the machine beeped, a clear, strong signal. He pushed in his scooper, sifting through the sand, and there it was—my father’s gold chain, buried by the side of the dune.

When I tell you we both screamed in joy… I was absolutely speechless.

Ed, I am so thankful for you and how generous you are. You truly have made this a story I will never forget. Your hard work and dedication is incredible.

Lost Gold ring found in Mongo River ,Indiana

Tayler text me and said he lost a gold ring in the river that they where kayaking a few day ago that would cost 2500 to replace. I called him as soon as I seen the text and told him we need to act quickly because we had storms coming up and a lot of rain then the river fills up and get muddy and it lessens the chance of finding it. Within a few hour we where kayaking down to the spot whers he thought that he would have lost it. I think it took about 20 minutes to find it and he was so happy cause he didnt think that it would be found again. So he got on the phone and canceled the new one he had ordered that morning. The jewler had told him that there are people that find rings for people so he googled it and found  the ring finders website and that I was  closest to him. So happy for a wonderful turnout and I got to meet him and his wife witch they are amazing people.

BMW FOB Lost in the Sand – Bank Street Beach Harwich, MA Found and returned

The warm temperatures and bright sunshine had brought quite a crowd to Cape Cod’s beautiful beaches. One such fun seeker was Charlie who hails from England and drove his mother’s car to the beach. It was a wonderful experience, soft sand, good friends all enjoying the day…until it was time to leave. A frantic search started for the missing car fob, without it there was no way home.

The search for the fob failed and an internet search for a metal detectorist that could help. TheRingFinders.com showed up on the search results and Luke was the closest. Luke had another commitment and reached out to me. As luck would have it, I had just returned home from returning a lost/found wedding band and I could leave immediately.

The short story is I met Charlie and his friends in the parking lot, walked to the area where he had spent the afternoon. The area marked out for me was relatively small and in less than five minutes the fob was in my scoop, we were heading back to the parking lot and then onto home. The next day was to be even better weather wise and of course, to find a more secure place to put the car fob while on the sands of Cape Cod.

Lost Ring Found and Returned Seagull Beach Yarmouth, MA

Nick and family were enjoying the sandy beach and the start of a heat wave on sunny Cape Cod when Nick had the need to wash his hands. A quick run to the water’s edge and a few swishes in the water left his hand clean, smooth and without his wedding band. The surf was churning the seashells in a motion that washed his ring and shells together. Nick lost sight of the ring and all the searching did not reveal its location. A sleepless night followed and the morning’s question was: What to do now?

A suggestion to rent a metal detector, a Google search for a dealer revealed the name and phone number for J&E Enterprise. The call from Cassandra was answered by Eleanor, the owner, who strongly suggested that she call a RingFinder – Richard as he would be their best way to recover the ring.

A half an hour after the call came in, I was on the beach ready for the recovery. I was assured that the ring was lost right where the sea shells covered a strip of sand. After searching the suggested area I realized the ring was lost at low tide, not at the high tide line where the day’s shell line lay. The tide would have been lower so I moved my search to the low tide line of shells. My first two signals were too deep, the third was a target I had to dig. Yes, it was in my scoop. I left it in the scoop and Cassandra was brave enough to move the shells in the scoop and retrieve Nick’s wedding band.

I believe I saw tears of joy and great emotions as Cassandra placed the ring back on Nick’s finger. I just love my hobby at moments like that! Then I was told of another loss of 2 rings, I found out that the loss happened four years ago. Well, on a public beach, I had to agree that the rings were long gone. That is why time if of the essence to start searching for a lost item. I left leaving a suggestion, should another “loss” occur. That was to drop a few coins, pull tabs, anything metal in the area the “loss” happened. That would make the search for the correct area be easier to located a day or so later.

The only thing left was to wish everyone, the best and to enjoy the remaining time on vacation, leave the jewelry at home or wear a silicone ring as a “Keeper” so a sentimental ring will not slip off one’s finger.

Lost titanium men’s wedding ring recovered, a year after it’s loss. Brendan, newly wed, ran & jumped off their pier and his ring slipped off.
Unknown to them, it could be found. I had recovered a lost sentimental pendant & necklace for the neighbor next door last season. She mentioned this and they contacted me in regards to the ring.
A few minutes in the water, two pennies found, then the ring.

A Special Ring Lost and Found, Buffalo NY

Last week, I had the opportunity to help someone in Buffalo, NY recover a ring that meant the world to him. It’s always a great feeling when you can return something that carries not just monetary value, but deep sentimental meaning and this recovery was exactly that.

The story began in a quiet backyard on the outskirts of Buffalo. The homeowner, a kind gentleman, had been out gardening, enjoying the early summer weather. He was pulling weeds, tending to the flower beds, and working with his hands in the dirt when unbeknownst to him his cherished ring slipped off his finger. It wasn’t until later that day, after washing up, that he realized it was gone.

Understandably, panic set in. The ring had sentimental value, and losing it felt like losing a part of his personal story. His wife sprang into action right away. She picked up a metal detector from a local tool store, determined to find the ring herself. Despite her best efforts, and several hours spent scanning the yard, the elusive ring stayed hidden.

Frustrated but not ready to give up, she turned to Google and that’s where she found The Ring Finders, a global directory of metal detecting specialists who help recover lost items. She reached out, and that’s where I came into the picture.

When I arrived at their home, I could see the hope in their eyes mixed with a bit of skepticism. The backyard wasn’t overly large, but there were garden beds, mulch, and grassy patches—plenty of places where a ring could easily disappear from sight.

After getting the details of exactly where he had been working, I started sweeping the area with my detector. Heirloom Yellow Gold Engagement Ring Lost in the Sand, Found and Returned Myrtle Beach SC

Coming off an unsuccessful ocean ring search, I got the following text from Jason. The text read, “I lost a ring on the beach yesterday around 5:30 pm. It’s a gold ring with two birthstones. We were at Ocean Lakes Resort. We went onto the beach at the Lovestone Dr entrance and were sitting directly in front of the first set of blue chair rentals to the right when you enter the beach. My name is Jason.” He also included his phone number which I called. I got a few more details and told him I’d be there in about 20 minutes. First off, the facility does not allow businesses on the premises. Secondly, they don’t give out visitor passes without the owner’s, not the renters, permission. So, I ended up telling the clerk I wasn’t a business and then I had to park across the street at a Walgreens and have Jason come pick me up. After all that Jason and I finally made our way to the beach.

When we walked out the beach, it was packed with tourist. Jason told me he lost the ring when his fiance, Molly handed him the ring to hold. He put the ring in his lap and forgot about it until he stood up and the ring went flying and disappeared in the dry sand. They had asked a young gentleman with a metal detector to look, without success. Unfortunately, with all the families, I had a very limited area I could search. I did get a couple of people to move but not many. I did what I could and talked to Jason and we decided it’d be better for me to come back in a couple of hours.

I showed back up 2 hours later, and Jason and I went through the same process of parking and getting in the facility. When we walked out on the beach this time, there was nobody in the way. Jason verified the area, and I started a grid search. As I got to the end of where Jason thought the ring should be, I got the signal I was looking for. I dug a small scoop of sand, shook it out of the scoop and saw Molly’s engagement ring in the bottom. I held it up for Jason to see, and I could see the relief come across his face. We decided we’d surprise Molly, so Jason put the ring in his wallet. On the way back to the house, Jason explained that the ring was his grandmother’s ring. When Jason and Molly got engaged, she gave the ring to them as a gift. Jason said he was up most of the night before trying to figure out how to tell his grandmother the ring was lost.

When we got back to the house Jason handed his wallet to Molly and asked her to take out all his cash for me. She took out some and Jason said “No, all of it.” As she pulled out the last of the bills, her eyes welled up and the tears started coming. She jumped off the sofa and gave me a huge hug. I looked at Jason and said, “This is what it’s all about!”
