I got a call from Mary asking for help locating a lost diamond wedding ring. Her and her family were in the backyard trimming bushes and raking up the fallen leaves. When they were done and were getting cleaned up she realized that her diamond wedding ring was missing. She remembered having it before filling the last 6 bags. So when I arrived, we pulled out the last 6 bags they filled, into the backyard. The first 5 bags were silent. But when I swung the detector over the last bag I got a solid 14 on the Minelab Equinox. I was able to reach into the bag with my pinpointer and retrieve the ring from there! Sucsess!! Happy Halloween Mary!!
I got a call from a couple on their Honeymoon saying they lost their wedding ring. I said that I would be happy to help find it . I immediately got ready and left to the beach location they were at. The waves were 2-3 feet high. but I went into the water anyway to find their ring. but unfortunately the waves beat me the first day. I was rescheduling for Friday but they called Thursday wanting me to go out Thursday even though the waves were still high. I finally gave in and agreed to make another attempt. I was not successful for about three hours . I was getting ready to give up. then at the last moment I got a target.. and it was their ring . I was so happy that I could help them find their ring. They now could completely relax and enjoy their honeymoon in peace.

After the Jon Cryer ring recovery, I was contacted by a lot of local people who read the story and asked if I could help them find their lost ring. Unfortunately, a big percentage of the calls were for rings that were lost in public areas such as parking lots, department stores, cabs, restaurants, places I cannot metal detect and help people.
However, this call I received made me feel pretty certain the outcome would result in a smile. The young man lost his late grandfather’s ring by throwing in the Applecore in the front yard and into some bushes. We arranged a time to meet and when I got there I was greeted by the young man who showed me exactly where he threw the apple core and where they found the apple core. These searches can take minutes some could take hours, it’s just figuring out the direction the ring went, most times it never ends up buy the apple core.
After 40 minutes or so and no ring, I backed up my thought process went to where he was standing when he threw the apple and I literally found the ring less than 2 feet away from where he stood.
A lot of times you have to think out-of-the-box and when you’re not finding it where you think it should be, it’s only because it’s not there, it’s where you find it.
I have the best job in the world and I love doing this more than anything I’ve done in my lifetime. I get to make people smile, I get to hear their stories of what the ring means to them and how happy they are when I’m lucky enough to find it.

Justin contacted me asking for some assistance on searching for his lost 14k gold wedding band. Recently he had lost some weight and his wedding band of ten years had become loose on the finger. Earlier in the day he went to Angle Lake Park for a swim with his daughter and nearly lost it. Fortunately he took his ring off and secured it to his key chain for safe keeping. Like most of my searches, it starts with a call or an email asking if I could help find something someone has lost. I have a series of questions I will ask in order to feel out the situation and the chances I will have for finding it. Sometimes it gets no further than the phone call, as some people explained that they had lost it in a department store or in a taxi, places I have no chance of finding what they lost.
After an email asking me if I could help find a lost wedding band I replied and asked if he could call me to discuss it further. I get the call and listen to a story on where he believes the ring was lost, he told me that he had searched for it as soon as he realized it fell off his finger but it was dark, with the flashlight on his phone he could not see the ring anywhere. He came back the next morning early and still could not find his ring.
I asked him about the area as I was not familiar with Cooper’s Park, it turned out to be along the seawall, the only area the ring could be for me to find it was in a very narrow strip of grass that separated the bike path and the runners/walkers path. Unfortunately, this was not good news, I asked if you could send me a picture of the location and he pulled one off of Google earth and I could see right away he had less than 5% chance of his ring being in the grass area. I call these type of searches closure searches, I will come in and close off the only area I can search in order to give them closure that the ring is not there or by luck, it is there.
We set up a time to meet the next day at 9 AM, as soon as we met I knew this person, it was Jon Cryer from Two and a Half Men. I told him I really enjoyed his character on that show and he was very humble and thanked me for saying that. Such a nice person, as nice in real life as you would imagine him to be.
That being said the pressure was on, we discussed the search and Jon showed me around the area where he believed the ring had fallen. I told him there was approximately a 5% chance of finding his ring due to the fact it was all concrete apart from a little slice of grass that separated the bike path and the runner’s path. Together we walked around and eyeballed the ground around the area but I felt the chances were huge that someone had already found the ring the day before.
While Jon was walking around looking in the cracks and crevices of the walkway I started my search of the grass area, surprisingly with the odds against us and within five minutes, I had found Jon’s beautiful wedding band! I have to tell you, I was surprised to see his ring poking through the grass, got to surprise John and see how happy it made him.
I have the best job in the world and I love doing this more than anything I’ve done in my lifetime. I get to make people smile, I get to hear their stories of what the ring means to them and how happy they are when I’m lucky enough to find it.

Well sometimes you find the ring quickly and other times it could take days. My last search was for a ring that was thrown out of anger and I spent 4 days and a total of 21 hours and no luck! I hate that result because it should be there? I believe I did my best but sometimes you just can’t find them for whatever unknown reason may be a squirrel, maybe a bird, maybe superhuman strength, and the ring went onto the road. Just to let you guys know I don’t always find everything I’m looking for, but I don’t give up easily.
Yesterday I got a phone call from a young man he said his friend lost his gold ring over his balcony down a bit of a ravine and no one could find it. He gave me the information and some details, then he connected me with his friend, the young man told me it was a custom-made gold ring with diamonds that he had for a very short time. I can sense his urgency and even though it was 5 PM rush-hour I jumped into my car and drove an hour and 30 minutes to Mission where he lived to help him find his lost ring.
When I arrived I met Terry and we discussed the search, I could see where he and his friends were searching with a metal detector but had no luck, it was just starting to get dark so I turned on my headlights and off to work I went. Strangely the search area was very similar to the last search that took me four days with no luck, uneven surfaces and lots of Ivy makes it extremely difficult.
After approximately 40 minutes and moving some logs and branches I received a very good signal and to my delight, I caught a glimpse of his beautiful custom gold ring! I was extremely excited and started packing up and climbing up the ravine, when I got to the top where I was putting down my equipment Terry drove up to the driveway, I didn’t know he had already gone and came back. When he got close I told him I needed to go get some more equipment because of the harsh terrain, then I held up the ring in front of him. I have the best job in the world I get to make people smile!

Tyreece called and told me that his fiancé was swimming in Lake Campbell at their neighbors backyard dock. While she was wading in the water her young daughter, also in the water, reached out for her mother’s hand and pulled her precious engagement ring straight off her finger. This rings is a 100 year old white gold diamond family heirloom engagement ring. Fortunately Silver was able to report that she felt the ring being pulled from her finger and bouncing down her leg to the bottom of the lake. She put a dive mask on and swam under water a several times looking around but could see absolutely nothing due to the poor visibility. As so many others can attest it quickly becomes very discouraging to say the least when something so sentimental is lost in the water like this. The fear that it will never be found can be quite overwhelming to many people.
However after a quick Google search the couple did find TheRingFinders.com directory and gave me a call. They reported that that water was not all that deep but the visibility was terrible. I assured them that this is a typical situation for me that I have developed quite a bit of experience searching for rings and small items of value in crappy conditions like this. I reassured them I would bering all my water recovery gear including my full SCUBA kit so we would have every possible opportunity of a successful recovery.
After showing up I was quite surprised to see how much bloom and silt was in the water. Fortunately Silver told me that she found the bottom of the lake to be more of a firm dirt composition apposed to a thick silty mess. This was encouraging to me that her ring would be a bit easier once I acquired it position with my dive detector.
As soon as I noticed how much silt and bloom was in the lake upon my arrival I knew I needed to construct my PVC search grid. Once again it paid dividends keeping me focused on a concise grid search not missing an inch. It was also a big help that Silver realized when her ring was pulled off from her finger and got me directly over the drop zone.

The ring symbolizes Larit’s 15-year marriage, and he lost it in the ocean during summer vacation. The ring was not lost once, or twice, or three times. The platinum band was lost as early as their first year of marriage but always finds its way back home.
Larit lost his ring while surfing at New Shoreham, aka Block Island, Rhode Island. I arrived on the island and hitched a ride with the local taxi service to Scotch Beach. Joe, the taxi driver, dropped me off at the entrance, and Larit took me straight to the spot where he lost his ring while surfing two days prior. We discussed the search boundaries with a couple of beach-goers who were familiar with the area. This was the same area Larit had a local metal detectorist from the island search on the previous day, but he came up empty-handed. After hearing this news, my determination was at an all-time high. Larit explained this was his first-time surfing, and he was falling off the board repeatedly. He felt the ring slip as he took one of his falls, which is good news when recapping and identifying the search area. He recalled the water level being knee-deep about 2 hours after high tide. I turned on my detector and got started searching in the knee-deep water. Except the knee-deep water kept going! That is one reason this beach is so popular; the gradual slope is great for frolicking in the water but not so great for trying to pinpoint the location of a lost ring by water depth. I spent a total of 3 hours searching for this ring, dodging frisbees, footballs, and boogie-boards, oh and small children. The good news, the gradual slope left most of the search area in ankle-deep water as the tide went out. I cleaned that beach out. There was no pull tab, bottle cap, or a bit of lobster cage left in that entire area. I scooped up what must have been the very last piece of metal on the beach, and when I looked down, I saw a glimmer of silver as the sand washed through the drain holes. Finally!! I low-key inspected the ring for the Tiffany markings Larit mentioned earlier, careful not to be too obvious with my inspection. I didn’t want to alert the crowd of people standing on the beach sipping White Claw and laughing at us for wasting our time looking for this hopelessly lost ring. I came back to the chairs where Larit was sitting and told him I needed a break. He understood, and we started talking about the ring. I asked question after question to confirm I had the correct ring – I did not want to drop the big surprise and present the wrong ring! I stood up and said I was heading back out another round of searching, but before I walked away, adrenaline pumping like I was about to propose, I leaned in with my scoop and asked Larit if this was his ring. He sat there in shock for a second, then reached and pulled the ring from the bottom of the sand scoop. We celebrated for a moment, then he told me of all the other times this ring has been lost over the last 15 years. Larit has managed to get this ring back over and over again. His persistence and refusal to give up is the reason he gets it back every time.
